Great album. My fav Jade Warrior tracks are "Water curtain cave" from their 2nd album: 'Released' & "Mwenga Sketch" from the then shelved album: 'Eclipse'..

Adrian: you might wanna check out the self titled album by Assagai which was also on Swirl Vertigo.. Especially the track "Telephone Girl"

Thanks for that I will look Assagai up. I was surprised how many albums Jade Warrior have done over the years.

Steve Miller never fails to raise a smile, just lovely stuff. Steve is still rockin' it out at the age of 76 and is touring later this year. Boz Scaggs – guitar, backing vocals (1967-1968), and Ben Sidran - keyboards (1968, 1969, 1970, 1972, 1987-1991) a pretty good Jazz musician, and many other talented musicians were in the band over the years.

And what an album this is, it's so many years since I heard it, a classic rock/prog rock album. For those that doubt that a re-issued vinyl can be any good, this proves that wrong, there is no surface noise and it has superb dynamics, just as I hoped as Repertoire Records half speed mastered this one. There catalogue of Vinyl is well worth looking at, I have 4 records re-issued by them and all are great.

It is 20 months since I have listened to this, yes I am OCD and keep a record in a database when I last listened to an album. Anyway my system has changed somewhat since then, and now this sounds rather superb, I always liked it and have previously played it several times, but am now getting much more depth and nuances.

"Love this Giant" did well in the charts, and generally received good reviews, with some reservations in different aspects. I personally think it is extremely good and well worth listening to, in fact I will still my neck out and think that it may even be one of those records that becomes seen as a classic in the future. Well worth a listen.

As can be seen it is a collaboration between David Byrne(famous from mad of Talking Heads) and St. Vincent(Annie Clark), both are great artists in their own right, and both can be described as being at least avant-garde and experimental. There are several unusual things about this album, from Wiki "They composed lyrics in person and via e-mail, which resulted in an entire album's worth of material. Byrne and Clark each wrote and sing their own lyrics, with the exception of "The Forest Awakes"—which Byrne wrote, but Clark sings. The instrumentation and funk grooves discouraged Byrne from writing his typical personal lyrics to writing about larger themes and Clark emphasised the art music nature of the recordings while composing." and from Annie Clark ""I suggested brass as a prominent voice because, at the time David and I decided to write songs together, I had just done the Actor record with a lot of woodwind and a lot of strings on it. So I hadn't explored brass and I wanted to."

The very first album I purchased with my pocket money was in 1970, as I was given a record player for Christmas , was On The Threshold of a Dream, a Moody Blues classic and possibly their best IMO, it is still a favourite of mine that I listen to at least once a year.

Utter friggin nightmare these two CD's Distortion & what i can only explain at times sounds like dust in a record groove..Switched to spotify which is not as clear but i can detect it so its not a pressing issue. If you listened to the December Album Club choice and liked I Robot by Alan Parsons Project then then this one is definitely worth a listen as well, if you decide to buy a Vinyl copy then hunt out a DMM(Direct Metal Mastering) copy, superb detail, transient and soundstage, if only all LPs were made this way.

Top 10 albums of all time in my book. Saw them twice on the Joshua Tree tour and those were probably the best gigs I have ever been to. Still remember buying my (first*) vinyl copy in HMV Norwich on the day of release and getting a bollocking for being late to work, and then the anticipation all day of watching the clock until I could go home and play it!

* on my third vinyl copy, have CD and the anniversary boxed set CD which I also bought for at least three other friends as presents - so I don’t feel guilty streaming it now!

Having a chilled out morning, probably my favourite Carpenters album, I picked up this mint copy on Monday for a £1, so it will replace the NM one, which I will pass on to a friend.

I now a lot of people run the Carpenters down, but they were hugely successful, and I would say nearly all their albums are impeccably engineer and produced. What is quite fascinating is I believe they hardly wrote any of their own material, but took classic songs of other artists and writers and turned them into the Carpenters sound, in fact so much so that some people are convinced that the Carpenters versions are the originals. Richard Carpenter was definitely a top arranger to be able to consistently do so.

Yes I was much the same listening to the Dead in my 20’s and I found them a bit dull then, but didn’t know why. I decided to give them another go a few years ago and know I realise why they are so good, there musicianship is superb, and as a band they interplay off each other, sometimes it sounds laid back but actually it very much not. It is hard to explain as you may have gathered. Having said that some of there later on material can be weird or boring.

Hard to beat a KC album I think, Poseidon is great as is Lizard and In the Court of.

This has to be one of the best albums I have heard for a long time, Grant have a listen. It mixes various styles.

I think he came for the 'Made In England' album.. ELP are the best, May Blitz were very underatted & Jade Warrior were an Acquired taste, i think the lack of drums were the thing..
