Yeah the album also reminds me of my first teenage love, who turned out to be a total bag. She borrowed my Alice Cooper Killer album, dumped me, wrote her name all over the sleeve and refused to give it back to me. Happy days.

Released in 2009, My One and Only Thrill, received three Grammy Award nominations:

Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical (Helik Hadar and Al Schmitt),
Producer of the Year, Non-Classical (Klein).
The album has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide, too few if you ask me, she deserves to be more widely acclaimed, superb vocals and surrounded by talented people make this a joy to listen to.

Well this thing with Beatles' stereo recordings where the vocals are coming from right speaker and most of the other stuff coming from the left was doing my head in a bit... so i've gone back to the beginning with this mono disc.

'After The Goldrush' was a a favourite of a friend of mine (now long gone) and always reminds me of late evening round his place after the pub, smoking hashish. Great album.

I have listened to the Twisted and its great really well produced on the record they did a great job I think. I am late to the table with this, Shpongle, Younger Brother, Ott and a few others but really enjoying it. If I was younger I think I would be off to the Shankar festival in Sri Lanka next year for some vibes. https://shankrafestival.org/sri-lanka maybe a AoS holiday trip? :eek::lol:

Next up and the album that really put this British Prog Rock band firmly on the World stage. Thier tenth studio album and first to reach number one in the UK, giving us two UK singkes Turn it on Again and Duchess plus Misunderstanding in the US. More notably, however, is not the Platinum album sales in the UK and US but the fact this would be the last tour where dates were theatre venues as the next tour would not just be arena's but multiple dates at the same venue. So we start the day with an album that everyone who loves great female vocals and classic songs should have in their collection. If you need a 'label' well I guess Folk Rock will do but to pigeon hole this duo is to do them a severe injustice!

So if we are talking great live albums then this makes my top five every time ! Regrettably, I only saw them live once in 2002 at the Summer Pops in Liverpool long after the departure of Roger Hodgson. However, Rick Davies, John Halliwell, Bob Siebenberg (Bob C.Benberg) were on great form ably assisted by Bob's son Jesse, Cliff Hugo, Carl Verheyen, Mark Hart and Lee Thornburg.
A band who are for me one of the all time great rock acts, great songwriting, great musicianship and great live. The live concert DVD is also great, although not an exact replica of the live album, the album being mainly from the 29th of November 1979 concert and the DVD from the 1st of December 1979 concert.

Next up a superb album, his fourth studio album, released in March 1993. This album was nominated for six Grammy awards, winning three awards for Best Engineered Album Non-Classical, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, Best Long Form Music Video, loosing out to Witney Houston - The Body Guard for Best Album, the other nominations being Best Song and Record of the Year.

For me it's not just this album, almost everything they produced post-Waters I find a bit meh. Strangely, (and I know a lot will disagree) I'm not that keen on Waters post-Floyd! I just think they worked better as a whole.

I'm NOT a Southpark fan but my son just enlightened me to Season 18 of the series (where the character Randy Marsh is secretly popstar "Lorde", using his computer to create music and pretend to be the female popstar) which showed me how, even back then, the makers of Southpark predicted the sorry decline of the music industry in the future - although actually it was quite amusing but, ironically and sadly, it's come true!!!!!!

Blue has 'Civil War' and I love their cover of 'Knockin On Heaven's Door' - but orange has 'November Rain' and that great cover of 'Live & Let Die'. I think it's a draw.
I could never afford those albums when they came out, £17.99 each! I waited ten years but they never came down in price, never on sale. When I started working in sales I had a bit of money for the first time ever so went in HMV and had a major splurge, spent about £300 and got both of them despite the price.
Go in there two weeks later and they are reduced to £9.99. I swear they were just waiting for me to buy them at full price before they did that.

"crap/classic" is a curious description, but one I can well understand. I have a love/hate relationship with their output, to the extent of having all of their LPs.
For me, it is the contrast between the ultra-smooth and well polished production, with the social insight of their lyrics, that I find difficult, yet I have no difficulty with say The Beach Boys's "Pet Sounds".
After Walter Becker died I continued to listen Donald Fagan and "The Nightfly", but quickly lost interest in his later output.

Had some free time this afternoon, so played both albums start to finish. I really couldn't pick an easy favourite, The 2 albums could have been shuffled without changing much. I think perhaps I used to prefer 1 as it had more songs I knew and so was more "accessible". But now I think 2 just edges it for me.
And no complaints from Mrs. P, she's still buzzing from her "rock weekend" :)
I see that they can now be bought together, but my separate ones were made in 1991, which if I understand Macca correctly, should be the ones to have...

Well this morning starts with an album I have to admit I can't remember when it was last played but some considerable time ago. Strangely neither the album or any of the tracks are on my phone library so it hasn't been played in the car or on the JBL Flip on a beach or terrace on holiday either !
This album released in 1992 was nominated for 6 Grammy's wining Best Female Pop Performance for Constant Craving. The album sold Platinum in New Zealand and the UK whilst going double Platinum in Australia, Canada and the US.
The songs, arrangements, musicianship, engineering and vocals are sublime.
