Why does an early 'Animals' LP fetch so much on the used market?

I have collected floyd vinyls official and non official for years- a widespine mint condition 'Animals' lp fetches about £100+ but you can get a normal spine 1st edition for about half that in vg+ condition........... ive sold a few and kept top/top copies as i think theyre a good investment as all floyd official lps are- the big money i have got though has been in acetates and rare boots which can command £1500 plus each!

Haha i think most floyd fans were fans of herbs n alcohol so care of the vinyl was not of priority.......back in the day (1977-) when i started collecting vinyl i knew how to handle vinyl and store it too- still got most of them to this day and although never played as i have access elsewhere they are vaulted in flight cases with silica gel pouches............the ROI on them is more than sticking my busks into a bank account thats for sure.

wee story regarding the Orbs Ultraworld...a historic elpea for a few reasons. It was the last vinyl LP i bought for 10 years as I got me first cee dee player and started purchasing cee dees. Also the day I bought it I took unwell(long personal story)Landed in the hospital for a week. However that fatefull day was my last ever hospital admission period. So this pariticular elpea remains a fond album which I still have and listen to to this day.

In what ways Andr'e?? If you mean "label design" all the Iconic designs were done in the 60's/70's, hard to imagine another Vertigo/Harvest/Island/etc but that could just be an age thang.... Always looks greener when you look back I think :D

Understand your viewpoint but there were a lot of "exact" repros done in the '80s.. a lot of the muppets on ebay must list these as originals, either for greed or they really don't know how to tell the different pressings... Myself I'm happy with the "Spirit" of the thing as in the Repetoire Spirals. There's no way that could ever be passed off as an original.

I have issues with the packaging annal, That loreena album sleeve for example is on paper thin card...piss poor... and I absolutely hate to see a 180 gram remaster etc etc supplied in a plain card inner that is guaranteed to leave hairlines the first time its taken out of the inner... :doh: :steam: what can you do :confused:

Those Crimsons are a lesson in how it should be done.. but there's more than a few that sound superb in comparison to the originals. the ones I feel most leary about are the Sony/Universal/whatever "Back to Black" nice packaging but I don't trust the vinyl.. I have some but I try to avoid them..

Assumed it was an LP so played it at 33 this am, and I'm hooked just loved the feel of it, in fact its been on the turntable on repeat.

didn't know anything about it so hit google and discovered I should have been playing at 45 :scratch: (next time look at the label innit :doh:)

so now giving it it's first play @ 45.. and it sounds fine even very very nice.. and even correct now that I know, but it sounds awesome @ 33 :mental:

can't be too many dual speed records about....

Yeah I can hear why that may be.. myself I'm convinced that the 45rpm version is the correct one... the vocals are correct and the timings on the cover seem to work.. still prefer it @ 33 tho... :D
