There's many who will say that Crimson King is the first Prog album ever.. (tho Andre does like a bit of ELP)

whatevers, if you work through KC's catalogue in the order they were released, it's an epic journey.
IMHO of course but hey ho I'm not biased at all... :sofa:

There's some would argue :sofa: that King Crimson (i.e. Robert Fripp) with Greg Lake on Vocals recorded that before he bailed out to ELP... :D

Some of that material was in the wings already with Giles Giles & Fripp band..in which for instance 'I Talk To The Wind' was originally recorded as demo with Judy Dyble on vocal. Alser "Why Don't You Just Drop In" was played at early Crimson gigs.

Anyone who cannot get enough of the First two KC albums must must have the McDonald & Giles self titled album.

Prog can take a run & jump as far as im concerned because their is only two prog bands i am/always will be seriously into & that is early ELP & King Crimson. Take or leave the rest, none of them can ever hold a candle to ELP & KC imho..

Anyone that hasn't read "Things the grandchildren should know" by the above Mr Everett probably should give it a go if you like Eels.
It's a heartbreaking read at times but gives a wonderful insight into his music.

Great choice Mike. Now that is a blindingly good record. Saw The Young Gods several times when they were playing this live. A very intense experience. Luckily got to interview Franz Treichler around that time too. Really lovely bloke and a great interviewee. A very unique band. Who said the 80's was a shite time for music!

It was actually my first contact with this album, but now i totally agree!
I dont know how i have been able to miss it either as i enjoy other similar music of the era, such as Ministry, White Zombie, RATM, NiN etc...

Ozrics Tentacles 'Arborescence' I was there a Phoenix '94 watching them, stood with John Peel over the back at the Japanese take away van.. John just finished his set for Radio One..

Phoenix was a far better festival than Glastonbury imho.. It was there that i first encountered Trance music, this stuff was then very new in the UK. Spent most my time in the Trance Euro-Express tent off mi trolly :D

I actually won the Tickets thru a competition on the Anne Nightingale Radio show.. Went back two years later to watch Björk & System 7 in particular..

Neither of these are Yes' greatest moment, but they still maintain a very hig standard to my ears. And when slapping Big Generator onto the tt, i was surprised again over the excellent mastering/engineering production . Sounds remarkable!
