Soundtrack for Covenant had ovbvious Jerry Goldsmith cues, but not so much on its own?
New found appreciation for Promethius and the score on a recent reviewing, remember seeing it in the Cinema and thinking good...but it’s not Ridley Scott.
In hindsight, it absolutely was...and someone who respected Jerry Goldsmith, albeit not literally stealing his cues.

And onto some classic rock, this is a great album. I was lucking enough to see them live at the Reading Rock festival in 1976. At the time I never really realised just how good they were, although they did get the crowd going in the middle of the afternoon.

Its more of a grower than immediate but I find him very easy to listen to and a really eclectic mix of songwriting style and performance.
His previous album Mangy Love was probably stronger melodically but this one is a more elegant use of his musical influences I think.

I started listening to the album yesterday and found it rather good, I will also give Mangy Love a go.
As well as some good tunes, "Mangy Love" has some of the best song titles... "Bum, bum, bum" and "Medusa's Outhouse" spring to mind. :-)

A great album, with some great rhythms and drumming. A good one to test the sonics and soundstage/separation of your system set up out.

Lotus is a stunning album (Ok 3 LP) but it is a live album, only issued in Japan & Holland originally if my often faulty memory is correct ,far far superior to that UK dble live (Moonflower?)
The packaging of the original Lotus has to be seen to believed, '70's excess or what...
My copy is the Dutch issue, would love to have a Jap. copy ( I love Jap. issues full stop)

A new acquisition, not one of their best know albums, but it is pretty good, maybe a bit more Jazz/Fusion, IMO, than their more Rock/Latin-Jazz earlier stuff. There is some excellent bass lines and it was very well recorded.

Forgotten just how good this heavy rock album is from Nazareth, I picked it up yesterday in 2nd hand shop for a reasonable price and its NM, I think Nazareth are often overlooked by many they were probably one of the founding Heavy Rock bands along with Black Sabbath, Bad Company and a few others. Well worth a listen, still sounds fresh.

First play as it hit the door mat this morning.
2LP 180g remaster in packaging that is absolutely stunning, the records were even sealed in their inners inside the sleeve, but then considering the price it really aught to be.
Sounds awesome to be fair, bass seems to be cleaner, hell everything seems cleaner, the only down side seems to be a little bit of rumble noticable on the run ins but that may just be that my JVC QL-Y3F is due that overhaul and service I keep meaning to do on it. :confused:

Hedvig Mollestad Trio: Black Stabat Mater 2016 Norway LP.
Picked up this on the weekend at a Cardiff boot for £5, I was expecting a modern Jazz sort of thing but it's great OTT overloaded guitar rock, with obvious similarities to another album that's been on my shelf since the '80s (Gawd bless "Funhouse" of Margate :D)

Something different for me. She won the Eurovision in 1964 with "Non ho l'etΰ" ("I'm Not Old Enough") and went on to represent Italy again at the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with "Si" at Brighton coming second to ABBA and Waterloo. The same song was her biggest hit "Sμ" (entitled "Go (Before You Break My Heart)") peaking at No. 8 in the UK.

An interesting album this one which is very well produced. It is basically Neil Sedaka with 10cc as his backing band and engineered by Eric Stewart. It is pretty good IMO, MOR pop ballads very well executed.
