Had a good couple of hours earlier spinning UK Oldskool, Breakbeat, Hardcore, Jungle and Drum & Bass on vinyl which I love.

I do like FSOL, but they have been off my radar for a few years. Is this new?
FSOL do seem to release a huge amount and I can't/don't keep up with it all and take a look at their website every so often to see what is happening as they don't put everything on Spotify and if they do they don't always keep it on there.
For that reason I usually buy physical music direct from them.
Environments was a 2008 release followed by another 6 in the series and I do like them all.
'From the Archives' series is more for the collector and I don't have them all because although the quality is there the tracks don't always make sense like they would on a 'proper' album.
They have done some odd releases under their pseudonyms and as Amorphous Androgynous the album 'We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal' is worth checking out for a Prog Rock-esque trip.

I assume you would be looking for a modern re-mastered vinyl reissue of which, according to Discogs, there are several, all post 1997.

Ok thanks Barry. You're right, I will be getting it on vinyl. I may start to move more towards CDs, what with the silly prices being asked for some vinyl releases, but I will make an exception with this one.

Thanks Adrian, found a couple of Ebay sellers flogging that same reissue at a decent price. Have you noticed how Amazon these days are having a laugh with their prices? I don't think I'll be bothering with them any more.

Only played 'Gambler' but really just bought this to play about it with for sampling and making music for my own amusement, however Kenny does have some great drum breaks and guitar riffs and after watching a tribute to KR on You Tube by Skratch Bastid I wanted to play with his stuff and £1 for a mint LP was ok for that.
Like many similar artists or should I say, artists of a similar era it does have a charm and some nostalgic value from hearing stuff on the radio as a kid etc. and that is why to a greater or lesser degree I like and listen to some of the more mainstream or 'pop' stuff that is not always of interest on here - we call is cheesy or guilty pleasure but I'll happily listen to some of those things without shame ;)

Me too, some of my favourites which have stuck with me include The More I See You by Chris Montez, The Happening by The Supremes, and more recently Boney M's version of Sunny. I want that last one played at my funeral, but Mrs. P she say no.
"Guilty pleasures" include stuff by S Club 7, Take That, Sugababes, Kylie, and I'm don't feel the least bit guilty about it. Why deny yourself stuff that brightens your day just because it ain't cool? :)

I do have Phantasmagoria and whilst I haven't listened to it for possibly 10 or more years it was definitely of the time and may not have aged too well - Scottish Widow type Woman on the cover ;) :lol:
The Black album is ok but I did find myself skipping a few tracks on that.
With the exception of 'New Rose' I didn't particularly find much* on Damned, Damned, Damned to make me play it again and I barely made it through the entire Buzzcocks album; however I did want to try a couple of punk albums I'd not heard before just in case I missed something so that box is now ticked and I don't feel the need to look further.
*I was going to say 'Anything' but that is another Damned album I bought which, for me, failed to deliver.
I daresay that with the exception of 'Never Mind The B......' I'm not too into punk from that era.

I think that you are right in having to be there at the time. I do like the Stranglers and will give their back catalogue a work through at some point; certainly Peaches is a fave for me to stick on the Jukebox at the pub
Anyway I do like Metal and although I knew about them I properly picked up on Electric Wizard a while back and really stared to hammer their back catalogue on Spotify around September, so I fancied a bit tonight and am currently spinning this...

If you haven't listened before then I'd say start with this album and think Black Sabbath meets Hawkwind.
Punk as a reset (OK, a timely 'kick up the arse') movement was needed to halt the increasingly self indulgent and excessive offerings from the likes of Rick Wakeman, ELP, Jethro Tull etc.
Ignoring The Police, who started out as a sort of 'punk-light', my favourite punk performers were/are Ian Dury and the Blockheads, The Stranglers, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Talking Heads and John Cooper Clarke.

the gallows pole(listening to now), which was nicked from trad song the maid freed from the gallows, and first recorded by one of my fav old blues men. Huddie Ledbetter in '39 as trad black naming, "Gallis Pole".
Zep were always nicking stuff:D
just picked up a small shop to keep me going.
Tangerine now.. a song that goes back to the yardbirds, although a different title.

Dub along with Jazz is the Grandfather of much of the electronic music styles that I love.
I have some King Tubby and Lee Perry on CD but vinyl seems to be the better or 'more natural' format for Dub.

However I'm pleased to say that my success rate is about 80%; much to my partner's surprise and delight.
I do exactly the same with CDs, though mine mostly come from car boot sales. It really is a great way to try out new or unfamiliar music. Largely thanks to streaming services I think, though I suspect we may have peaked in this regard, and decent "finds" will become less frequent.

I knew him from 70s, he is sort of like a rocky Steve Miller, and a very good musician and songwriter imo. Well worth a listen.
I spent my youth listening to loads of stuff, I should have focused more on guitar and become a musician but parents had other aspirations for me, so that never happened.
