Latest release from my favourite band from north of the border. Been following these guys since I first heard their demos on Steve Lamaq almost 20 years ago. Indeed I love them so much I'll even forgive the frankly atrocious production on this outing.

Sigue Sigue Sputnik - Flaunt it

30 years on from all the hype I'm loving this album as much as the day I heard it. The band may be finished but what remains is an excellent piece of Giorgio Moroder produced electronic pop which was way ahead of its time in terms of their approach to sampling and production.

Having been too young for punk, they were my sex pistols or clash. Parent annoying, loud, outrageous and a bit genius I reckon. In 1985/6 they sounded like the future and for a sci-fi obsessed adolescent were all I'd ever wanted.

Very good indeed. Thanks to my Google chromecast I'm enjoying a selection of his YouTube vids on my system now. That first one you posted is actually really great sound quality reflecting the close mic'd acoustic performance really well.

I tend not to watch many YouTube vids on my tablet, preffering to playlist them and put them up on chromecast for a proper listen.

Hawkwind- Levitation.........Still love this after 30 plus years of listening to it- Ginger Baker was a driving force behind that kit.........no rehearsal just naturally instinctive.. gonna listen to my Neil Young and Hendrix collection later on though.....

On the Doormat today:-

just played

Affinity: Same title (Repertoire half speed remaster)

http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u647/PierreDeGrenoble/cover-affinity_zpsp98nrjye.jpg

Superb silent pressing.. :youtheman: Don't know if you'd describe it as "bright" Andre, to me it seems to have lost a little of the "murkiness" I remember (very noticeable on I wonder If I care as much) but as much as I'd love to compare it to an original I'm afraid I said goodbye to my swirley of this and the Linda Hoyle 20 years ago...

Really nice for late-night listening. You must have heard her singing 'Killing Me Softly'. This disc contains a number of classics, such as 'Sweet Georgia Brown', 'Prelude To a Kiss' and 'Tenderly'.

If you like that sort of thing then I can recommend Natalie Cole (Nat King Cole's daughter) 'Unforgettable – With Love'.

The Who: Who's Next.

The only remaster I wanted from the complete catalogue. Amazon Pre Order, delivered this morning..

Sounding very very nice, and the replica "Head Hunters" inner brought a big smile. :D

Gotta be Honest Andr'e I likes The Who a lot, and I have a copy of Tommy, but to be honest a lot of Tommy strikes me as pretentious drivel, (pinball wizard is a dessert island disc..)

Next was their only album I thought I wanted to go the expense on (an I'm pleased to say it was worth it)

Live at Leeds my favourite live album of all time.

As a bassist I continually stand in awe at the way John Enwistle keeps them all together yet makes it all his own. Truly the sound of a band right at the top of their game. None of the studio albums really do JE justice and you've got to hear his performance live to really understand what a unique musician he was.

Tangerine Dream were the Pioneers of this stuff, Redshift were an awesome alternative to the 'Phaedra'/'Rubycon' era..i mean awesome, They got it just right.

Out today and sounding beautiful, very different to their first album without Ethan Johns producing, but very good with a bigger and much fuller sound.

Vintage Celestion fad merchants always forget about these, or more like they don't know about em

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TANDBERG-5020-Hi-end-Vintage-Speakers-Superb-Sound-All-Original-SUPERB-cond-/191540038965

I've seen those before and I know the seller. He mentions the Celestion bass unit and Philips tweeters (which I don't like much) but has not said what the mid is. Isophon, Elac, Philips, Audax, or what? I'm just guessing here.

peerless mid.. Its a celestion T1600 bass as the '44'/'66', i think the '25' used it anorl

Ah, right. The Celestion bass unit was used in the 25. Interesting to see that the Tandbergs use an undoped version.
