The whole concept of a ‘Christmas CD’ is nonsense, IMO, unless you’re talking about carols and such like. Outside of that, a ‘Christmas CD’ should simply be whatever music, from your collection, you happen to be enjoying at that time :)

The cheesy, banal shite, found on some of these complications should be banned, IMO, as an affront to good taste!!

Marco.

Flight of the Wild Goose - Iona

Lovely slice of Celtic, Christian Prog Rock from one of the most underrated Prog Rock bands from the UK and Ireland. I guess many are put off by the fact they are a Christian band, real shame that as their music is incredible and live they are able to reproduce their complex music effortlessly. I am lucky to have seen them twice.

This track is taken from their first album Iona (1990)

When that track finishes You Tube puts up

Woven Cord - Iona

Which is taken from the album of the same title (1999)

Definately jazz rock leanings - more so the first album over the second - but as Prog can have alsorts of elements not that unusual a thing to say.

That's the beauty of this thread - it allows you hear music/artists that you may not have heard before and thus are new to you. I've learnt a lot (and purchased a lot) from what Members post here. And, fortunately, a lot is available to listen to on YouTube, Spotify, Grooveshark etc., so: "you can taste and try, before you buy". (Savoy Brown)

"Spinning Today ..." is usually the first thread I visit after logging in! :)

Lisa Dalbello (Dalbello) - She

Wonderful rock, pop album with the enchanting and slightly scary Lisa Dalbello on vocals, an angry, sensual, wryly observed album, that still thrills me to listen to it today. Of course some will dismiss it as being just poppy, techno AOR but my view is that Dalbello rises way above the other artists of a similar vein (Berlin, Cock Robin, Device, Blue Yonder, Till Tuesday etc) by bent of her unique, quirky approach and a stunningly powerful melodic voice. Love the way she looks as well ;)

In away she led the way for artists like Alanis Morissette but to my mind and ear Lisa is better.

Only recorded three albums as Dalbello and her first ones as Lisa Dal Bello are so unlike what followed as to almost be the same as imagining Val Doonican, starting to play Death Metal.

My lovely wife bought this for my Christmas gift :)

Only listened to a few tracks so far but the production quality is truly superb. I already own several of the "standard" albums and the improvement in SQ on this new remastered collection is very audible

Grayson Capps sounds for me like the imaginary prodigal son of Lucinda Williams and Tom Waits. Some of his songs can be heard in the movie “A love song for Bobby Long (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369672/reference)” (2004).
