Apparently a sought after record which before this re-release by Repertoire was starting to hit the £150-200 for a NM copy.
This version is excellent, the album was controversial in its day its content having Satanic connotations, musically it is very good though.

Yes I vaguely remembered it from my sixth form common room days, it is actually a very good album musically, quite varied, worth getting, Repetoire Records do some other good ones from that era.

All I really hanker after with roots music are a great voice, good lyrics (especially if they are real) and a guitar. There's nowhere to hide if any of those aren't good. I'm playing mostly this style of music, jazz and blues these days, especially Miles Davis and Coltrane.
My favourite song of the year is from Patty Griffin and her album is amongst my shortlist for album of the year. I've played this so many times I've lost count

This is an interesting and rather good album from the former member of Talking Heads, Jerry Harrison, he is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his work in Talking Heads.
The track "Man with a Gun" was featured in the 1988 film Two Moon Junction, and the instrumental version of the same song was used in the 1986 Jonathan Demme film "Something Wild". The single "Rev It Up" hit the Us Mainstream charts topping out at #7 in 1987, and still gets radio airplay. There isn't a bad track on it IMO, a quality musician.

+1 for this LP, I used to play it a lot, but found some time ago that this and about 30 other albums have been affected by being stored in a rather damp place. I could do with seeing whether a record clean and new inners will resolve this.

Yep it will I have purchased several albums that looked completely screwed with paper liners stuck to them. After my cleaning process they came up like new and play with no noise if not scratched from previous use.

Just box up and send, I have plenty of time on my hands to do them. Ill do a few at a time over a couple of weeks. If you buy some new liners, the ones with pvc inside are best, and put them in with the records. If some are badly soiled then I have a disco stat bath that I can soak them in a 1/3 at a time to free the crap off. Then they can have the triple clean and hoover treatment.

Poor Willie never got what he deserved. A top talent in R&B and other formats but was badly handled. He was found in poor, call that terrible living conditions and paired with London Band Juice on the Loose to make this album.

This is the newly released album from Nilsson, he completed the songs and recorded the vocals just before he passed away January 15, 1994. His best friend, Mark Hudson, promised him to complete it and get it released so 25 years later here it is, quite a few of Nilsson's old recording friends helped with the recording. Like most of Nilsson's albums it is a quirky mix of songs and feel, but all very good IMO. I like it a lot its worth a listen.

This is a cracker, a full on rocker, as the title say "No Brakes", he slipped past me back in the day although obviously I recognise the single 'Missing You', but the whole album is pretty good. A Lancaster lad that made it good in the USA, still touring, playing at Iridium NY on 13 & 14 Dec, if you fancy a trip there.

Having a bit of an 80s fest at the moment, another 50p NM record form the local charity shop. Interestingly recorded onMitsubishi x-850 digital 16 or 32-track reel to reel recorder, reportedly 44.1 or 48khz at 16-bit, it was then remixed, the dynamics and head room on the vinyl is very good IMO, which just goes to so a sympathetically done digital recording in the right hands can produce good results.

I have been trying to find this album, one of my favourites, at a sensible price on vinyl for quite some time, a friend recently informed me that they had re-release the 1st 3 albums on vinyl on 180gm on 29 Nov this year. After hunting around I discovered that they are nearly all gone according to the distributor Proper Music (they are out of stock completely), apparently not many copies of each have been released. So The Blue Niles first album, Walk Across the Rooftops, arrived today and it is superb, Hats, the second, Hats, should arrive in a day or so. :)
