A rather different style for me, I first heard this on CD at Renaisance Audio, and I was struck how good it was, it is the soundtrack from a quite well known Indian film. The music and production is quite stunning, and is very enjoyable, the tracks are varied with some impressive drumming and use of instruments and effects.. On my recent visit to my friend in Dorking I picked up 3 records in an Antiques shop, looked like the record seller had cleared out the rubbish and poor quality records out and restocked recently so there was a good choice. The ones i looked at ranged from VG+/VG+ to MN/MN and were priced £8-£10, not all were worth that as cheaper on Doscogs or Ebay, but not a bad price as you you don't pay postage.

Yes Barry, they are used. So not as cheap as charity shops or car boots, but then I'm buying a specific want, as opposed to just getting the most likely of what is on offer (which up here means Richard Clayderman or Robbie Williams). I've bought quite a lot of CDs from Music Magpie or World Books (via Ebay), and never had a rough copy yet.

Buying from these will tide me over until the car boots resume, I think I've mentioned before that charity shops up here are rubbish.

I have one of the original releases (on CD) of DSOTM from around 1984 and I also have the Hybrid CD that you have; I have compared them many times.............. its a hard thing to try and describe in words. I think if I had a dedicated SACD player, I could give a liitle more of a fair assessment, but I haven't. Comparing them on my player (std. CD player) I can't hear a massive difference - maybe the SACD is slightly sharper in the odd place and maybe its got a very slight more of a processed sound whereas my original CD has more of an analogue sound. That's all I can really say. The equipment that I used for the listening comparison is listed below :)

I agree - all this navel gazing concerning the various versions and formats of DSOTM is to my mind somewhat irrelevant. As you say it all largely depends on the equipment used.

Not for everyone, and its a harmless pass-time that hurts nobody! As to equipment I would agree that the more revealing and neutral it is then it is likely to be easier to hear any differences that they may or may not be between versions. I will continue my DSOTM journey:eek::lol:

I think it might depend on how you take the pics. I use a digital camera and download the pics to my computer, where they are stored in the 'Pictures' area. I then use postimages.org/ to then select the image and give me a url that I can paste ito a post, bracketing it with , and .

I'm sure there is an easier way of doing it - Grant here is a bit of a wiz in these matters.

Music is subjective isn't it ? I guess its all down to personal preference; I feel Parallel Lines is more of a pop album and Eat To The Beat is a proper crossover of Blondie's punk/new wave roots with the catchy pop tunes; some of the songs have more of a harder edge compared to those on Parallel Lines. I :)
