Damn, I forgot about The Sade records. Good voice, good production, and her newer stuff doesn't disappoint either. Went on to Carly Simon then followed with Fun Lovin' Criminals' "Come Find Yourself" which sounded nothing like Sade :(
Is Sade still recording? The last one I bought of hers was 'Lover's Rock'.

I have an SME arm tucked away and intend to use that on a homebuilt plinth. The plan was to use the platter, motor and electronics from the Technics unit, but after stripping the electrics and rebuilding into a separate case with a new power supply I run out of time, plugged it all back together and have been using it as-is ever since. Now the (I suspect) speed control IC has failed for a second time I'm thinking I'll need to source a stouter drive system for the final incarnation....
££ a bit tight at the mo until work gets a bit more reliable, but yes, I should look out for a better quality temporary unit. I'll be more likely to get back building the custom job as well...

Not a bad LP, but not as good as their first three LPs. Does yours come in that annoying PVC sleeve?

I'm back!!!
An excellent reissue on 180gm, well worth getting, probably Madonna at her best IMO. I purchased it at the Heathrow airport on Mini-Disc on our way to Bali on holiday(1998), first day on the beach I laid back on the lounger in the warm with the sound of the sea and a hot breeze blowing over my body, I popped Ray Of Light on and closed my eyes and listened, I was totally blown away by the compositions, lyrically and musically, a wonderful moment, and this album has always been there with me ever since.

Some of it will be down to producer William Orbit - he does know how to put some bass into his productions, our Billy :) Check out (if you can) "Spirit" by cellist/vocalist Caroline Lavelle, another of his productions, and you'll hear what I mean, as will your neighbours...
Not that Madonna needs William Orbit to sound good - she is my guilty pleasure. I think I have all her studio albums, sadly mostly on CD though.

Been waiting to play this one for 2 months, I found a reasonably priced copy much to my surprise in January. So far it is fantastic, there is something about Shpongle that I really like, musically it is so varied and immersive and beautifully produced, toetappingly good exceptional sounds.

Saturnalia - Magical Love. Was a picture disc (with all the sound problems) I also had a white lable version (no pictures) but now have it on CD.

It is, as far as I know, her latest LP. Recorded in 2015, in New Orleans where RLJ now lives, it is a sort of retrospective and reflective album. Not my favourite RLJ album, but very good nonetheless and better than some of her more experimental albums.

I pre-ordered this album from Burning Shed(a great record source) as I was rather taken with the cover and that Peter Hamill is on it (ex Van De Graff Generator). I have to say this is one of those albums that just grabs you from the first few bars, it verges on Pink Floyd scale, with soaring guitar solos, and lovely moog/synth lines, some aspects of the tracks are etherial in feel with an obvious orchestrated bent. Probably one of the best Prog/Psychedelic Rock albums I have purchased in many years, stunning IMO.

So I am back in Shpongleland for a deep and meaningful listen and experience, the more I listen to them the better it gets, the rhythms, variations, mixing and production are just great, there are so many layers to hear. I think I am becoming a fan!

Initially was amazed when opening. 3 albums, two books, poster (it was $140 Cdn) Started playing them....the first two albums are both Paranoid (different mixes)...the 3rd is a live concert...and both were covered in mini scratches. This is the 3rd time I've bought something supposedly brand new and it looked like someone had taken a steel wool pad to them....very disappointed....back it goes...and I won't replace. I have the original...with less cracks and pops.

you would need a photo host company. or you could use tapatalk straight from your phone. i mostly use tapatalk these days although i have a host as well. tapatalk will cost you 99p a month and is ad free and you can rea forums etc on it. i use imageshack usually, but there is flikr and imagur too.

Having fallen for the Amorphous Androgynous most recent album"We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal I did some reading up on them and found out that The Isness their second release is highly regarded and has been re-released in limited numbers.
Original The Isness (Abbey Road Version) vinyl had an edition of 1750 copies:
The Amorphous Androgynous* - The Isness (The Abbey Road Version) - 1000 machine-numbered 180g vinyl limited edition sold at RSD 2018.
The Amorphous Androgynous* - The Isness (The Abbey Road Version) - 750 unnumbered standard vinyl edition.
I purchased the last one released, brand new, at a very good price and it is extremely good IMO. A photo of the reviews on the album sticker is below as well.
