Not yet - I have 2 daughters, one that keeps in touch fairly regularly (although I only got my Fathers day card on Friday!), and one that usually only calls when she wants a telly fixing to the wall. She moved house four weeks ago and I still don't have her address. I will ask her though.

An interesting listen this one, live recordings, I presume taken from the mixing desk as audience can only be just heard at end of tracks. Apparently it is a bootleg recording which when released turned up in HMV in 1985. They are reminiscent of The Doors but have aspect of Cream, they can certainly play. The recording is pretty good although a little edgy at times.

Well there has been quite a bit of controversy on the net about the recent re-mastered Pink Floyd albums that have been released over the last 3 years. I did some investigation and discovered what I think is correct and some interesting facts. "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" was originally recorded on a mix of analogue and digital by the band and then transferred to full digital for final mastering before being committed to CD or Vinyl. A similar process occurred with "The Division Bell". It appears that not much care at the time was taken with producing the vinyl versions of either albums, remember it was the age of the CD back then. From what I can find out subsequently nearly all Pink Floyds albums have been re-mastered at The Mastering Lab, chosen to get the best from the original masters with a view to getting a better vinyl result. Some cynics would say it's all a marketing ploy, well maybe but however the proof is in the pudding.

Seeing your Nakamichi BX-1 reminded me of the BX-2 and BX 125 (both of which I still have somewhere), used to record cassettes for use in the car. I no longer use cassette as a prime source medium, though I must have recorded some 200 90minute tapes over the years. Still, seeing your BX-1 brought back happy memories of the time when I discovered that high quality cassette recorders (ones that followed precisely Philips's specification) could make as good a recording as open spool reel-to reel recorders at 7.5ips, but with much greater convenience.

Or buy some cassettes! Back in the day, I was always vinyl. Used my Aiwa (something or other) to record compilation tapes for the car but that was it. I had maybe two or three pre-recorded cassettes, one was OMD, can't recall the others. Could be fun to revisit the format? :)

Spinning this again as it is just so good on vinyl compared to the CD IMO.
Well there has been quite a bit of controversy on the net about the recent re-mastered Pink Floyd albums that have been released over the last 3 years. I did some investigation and discovered what I think is correct and some interesting facts. "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" was originally recorded on a mix of analogue and digital by the band and then transferred to full digital for final mastering before being committed to CD or Vinyl. A similar process occurred with "The Division Bell". It appears that not much care at the time was taken with producing the vinyl versions of either albums, remember it was the age of the CD back then. From what I can find out subsequently nearly all Pink Floyds albums have been re-mastered at The Mastering Lab, chosen to get the best from the original masters with a view to getting a better vinyl result. Some cynics would say it's all a marketing ploy, well maybe but however the proof is in the pudding.

We get out to Bulgarian resorts most years - Sunny Beach, Golden Sands, Elenite, Albena...
Currently in Burgas, 30 km south of Sunny Beach. My wife’s family has an apartment just across the sea garden. Bicycles, speedminton, books, music (cassette tapes 😊 ), good food - I call this an active rest.
Otherwise if speaking about sea we are using the salt waters of Greece, with our kayaks.

Oh I've gone all Shang a Lang :eek::lol: after a trip to the local Hospiscare warehouse, those were the days. Surprisingly some of the tracks are not too bad. Sue will be pleased she was a big fan as a teenager.
Amazingly came away with some NM records, including a very nice boxed set (10 LPs) of 70's, a great selection of original artists, I prefer these to owning loads of singles.

Foxtrot - Genesis .
I didnt buy it at the time and have always wanted a copy . (got every other album though !) Found a first pressing with a roughed up spine on the sleeve but in vgc considering . Bit of a wash and not too bad ,if a bit crackly .
Then onto Trepass , an album which grows on me all the time - Pete Gabriel was /is a wizard vocalist :)

I have posted this before but as I am listening again so thought I would post for benefit of others that may have missed it.
Taal is a quite famous Bollywood film and I originally heard part of the music on CD when at a dealers some months ago. Immediately I decided to see if it was available on vinyl, which it is. I managed to source it form India and with postage was quite reasonable for just under £40 including P+P. It is a wonderful album and is quite varied, and has superb dynamics, well worth a listen.

Thanks. I hadn't heard of Asia, though of course I had heard of some of the members and of all of the original groups. Is there a representative album of Asia you could recommend?
Probably the 1st eponymous Asia or the follow up Alpha, I have both and like them.
As my Mrs has had an Amazon Echo , I have been listening to every song I can dredge from my memory banks (whilst she is out !) .
I never ever thought I would say it ,but the little buggers a breath of fresh air (and sounds suprisingly punchy !!!)

Album Trivia: The memorial by which the band can be seen standing on the front cover is the Jephson Memorial in The Jephson Gardens, Leamington Spa.

Yes and yes. :) I sold you my Mono copy if memory serves. I have it on cd and have a stereo lp version too. Your mono version is both the most desirable and best.

The album is awesome, played and recorded brilliantly, the pressing to great as well.
Just be care full, when I played it the first time it sounds all wrong, think Rammstein on dope.
I'd got the 45rpm version, I stupidly was spinning it at 33 1/3rpm pillock I am :scratch:
