How can you not like Steely Dan, "yacht music" or not, its good stuff! Some of the guitar work on the earlier albums is very well done, "Reelin' In The Years" is a classic.

Don't know about that, what I would consider 'yacht music' includes "Sailing" by Rod Stewart, "Dancing with the Captain" by Paul Nicholas, Duran Duran's "Rio" (well the video anyway) and "Rock the Boat" by The Hues Corporation.

Life's too short for 'Dan dithering - I suggest selling them all to fund buying something you know you like. I'm looking for nice copies of "Can't Buy a Thrill" and "Pretzel Logic" :)

I had not realised Alan Parsons released a new album last year, so when I found out I just had to order a copy. If AP Project or AP is your bag then this one is rather good IMO. Very well produced, great dynamics, good songs and a mix of feel, one is even a big band hitter, in some ways the album is reminiscent of some of the earlier Alan Parsons Project offerings, oh and yes it has a theme which you will discover if you buy the album. AP does it again IMO.

Not actually the correct title(think its just Jackson Browne) but it became stuck to point that even the record company thought it was and printed it on a cd cover spine..
as for the canvas bag used to hold and cool water , it does work amazingly and was used in deserts..

Funny I have listened to it several times but today was the first that I was actually able to focus on the lyrics and their meaning. Some truly stunning lyrics and very insightful. I’d recommend everybody has a good listen to this, beautiful music as well.

This afternoon I sat down to listen to Supertramp's 'Crime of the Century', and Mrs. P moaned "Oh not this again!" although it's been a few weeks. She suggested I work through my records, from A-Z (this'll take a while), and she agreed to listen to whatever that means, without complaint.

First up was Alabama Shakes' "Sound and Colour", which she actually liked. That's as far as we got. I predict tough times ahead though, as she can't stand The Beatles, and she's not a big fan of Kate Bush either. She has no idea how much Frank Zappa lies ahead, but we'll probably both be stone deaf by then.

I don't see this working out.

Having another listen to this one as I noticed on the last play it had a bit of surface noise so I gave it a thorough deep clean, much improved.

Also a friend sent me a Löfgren-A set up guide to print off for the specific settings for my Project Signature 10" arm, it turned out the cartridge was mis-tracking by about 1.5mm at the outside of an LP. So yesterday I spent an hour getting it just right with the Goldring 2500 cartridge on the aluminium Project head shell. Well worth the effort the detail is slightly more defined, and soundstage seems to be more defined. :) Interesting how slight changes to arm and cartridge set up can make a difference.

I have had this on pre-order since March and it arrived yesterday, it was well worth the wait!. These guys may be in there late 60's and 70's but their experience is evident on this album, they certainly haven't lost their Mojo. Typical DP, driving bass lines intertwined with swirling keyboards, lovely guitar breaks, and good lyrics. IMO has a feel of some their earlier stuff, I'm thinking Fireball, some Machine Head and Who Do We Think We Are. :gig:

Great stuff, if you like them this is well worth a listen.:)

Anyone who likes hard rock should listen to this once in their life and "Space Ritual" a cracking live album, such an underrated band, but a big following of loyal fans. I still love them after nearly 50 years. Not everyone gets them though including rockers.
