Just cracking stuff, one of those great 70's Scottish rock bands. I saw them in 1976, http://robsbaralora.magix.net/public/gbmfo.htm, with 3 mates we drove up from Hampshire to Wimbledon Tube and went on to Olympia. It was a great rock show, although the acoustics were not that great I seem to remember.
This is a pretty good re-release IMO, dynamic and sounds to me that the mix has not been played with.

Maybe we were sat next to each other? We had a great view directly in front of centre stage, Be Bop were great, Naz were on fire and Bad Co. just blasted the place apart as far as I was concerned.

Sticking with the Olypmpia 1976 show, it would be rude not to play these Bad boys, for those interested:- "Bad Company consisted of four seasoned musicians: two former members of Free, singer Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke; former Mott the Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs; and ex-King Crimson bassist Boz Burrell." (Wiki), so a bit of a supergroup, who were extremely successful. If you are younger and have not heard them, they are well worth having a listen to, any of their 70's albums are pretty good.

back tripping out on Moody Blues rude not to, nearly at the end of the collection.....
As an aside for a 120g record from the 80's the SQ is surprisingly good, maybe Threshold and the Moodies kept a close watch on pressing quality at the time.

Penultimate one in my collection, most of it is very good and has the typical Moodies feel but a couple of the tracks seem a bit odd. I am not sure if this is Patrick Moraz's influence who joined the band after Mike Pinder left, which is odd considering Moraz's past outings on his own and with Yes.

Good choice Grant. Cat Stevens recorded a lot of 'cac' (IMO) as well as some great songs, so a collection, or a "best of" is good way of hearing him without the dross.

And I have finally arrived at the last album in my Moody Blues collection, this one is definitely a bit more pop feel, it is still very listenable, it did get in several charts and spawned two chart singles in the US, so they were still popular. Interestingly (or not) Discogs no longer classify them as psychedelic rock, but with this album its Classic Rock, since Seventh Sojourn psychedelic rock had been lost and was replaced by Soft Rock or Symphonic rock, maybe indicating the change or loss of style.

Well I felt it was time again to listen to one of my favourites, especially as I have moved the speakers and think I just about got them and my listening position about as good as they can be, although I might try a few isolation tricks.
This is probably my favourite ELP, although they are all good, it has a great majestic feel, with just the right mix of classical influences , rock and jazz lines which is an important aspect of what good Prog Rock is about IMO. A new arrival, and I am rather pleased with this one, an excellent quality pressing and musically it is very good IMO, but I would say that being into Prog.

Well I was not prepared for this, it is just about as good as Rock music gets, I had heard it was good but was completely blown away, a cross between early Zeppelin and Cream with elements of Atomic Rooster (Peter French leaf just after recording this album to join Atomic Rooster). If you like hard rock then IMO it is a must have album.

Well I was not prepared for this, it is just about as good as Rock music gets, I had heard it was good but was completely blown away, a cross between early Zeppelin and Cream with elements of Atomic Rooster (Peter French leaf just after recording this album to join Atomic Rooster). If you like hard rock then IMO it is a must have album.

Having a re-listen to this one as was distracted a bit first time through, it is a pretty good album, lovely swirling organ, with ethereal violin, parts have a Curved Air feel with touches of Procol Harum, good stuff.

I was given mine, 1st press I think, vinyls perfect but the sleeve got damp in a garage and was stuck together and to another sleeve, I steamed them apart over a kettle(having removed the vinyl first). It’s the music that matters to me, but I might try and find a decent sleeve at some point.

and the next Birthday present a rare and difficult to find at sensible money 180gm repress of this classic from Analogue Productions, I was very fortunate to find this new copy in Germany for a very sensible price after much searching, and my wife said I could have it as it was stilling my allowed budget. Fragile is one of my favourite Yes and on this copy it just pops, the acoustic intro at the start just zings, and rest of the recording is wonderfully detailed, well worth the money IMO.

The AP re-master of Fragile is 33rpm and IMO is beautifully produced, sleeve is heavy cardboard and vinyl must be virgin as near silent and does not produce static. I was very lucky to find a copy at a good price, they go fo silly money. The only alternative is the recently re-released Mofi version on 2*45rpm 12", but at £133.33 from a UK supplier this really is pushing the boat out IMO, unless you are a Yes fanatic and collector.

A new album to me this one, which has had some very good reviews. My initial impression after one listen is that musically it is very good, I like his previous "Love and Hate" album very much as well. Update to below, so I have had a listen on Qobuz at hi-res to several tracks through RPI/HifiBerry HAT to Caiman Seg DAC, and actually it sounds subtly better on vinyl, the bass is there on both, I think it is purely down to the mixing. It actually sounds better on the second listen to the vinyl, there is actually some seriously low bass on some of the tracks, the low-level you feel.
It is a very good album.

This wonderful album landed yesterday, it is one of the recent presents, the Repertoire re-issue is superb SQ, and a great sleeve, or at least my copy is, just as I remember from many years ago. Any self respecting gProg Rocler of Jazz/Funker should have a copy of this in their collection.

Saved this one in Qobuz for a listen as it intrigued me, it is a very interesting listen, which I quite like it. There are at times some rather complex opposing rhythms going on, and it sounds as if it is about to fall apart and then suddenly all comes back together. Great stuff, somehow reminds me of The Residents.
Thanks for that one, I will have to listen to some more of theirs.
