That has happened to me in the past, despite being fastidious with my filing, sometimes it will be misplaced musical genre. For example John Mayall is normally filed under M in the Blues section, but once I found one of his titles in the Rock and Pop section.
Likewise I used to have Soft Machine 'Third' but can't find it anywhere. No matter, I have it on CD where some mild recorded distortion on the vinyl version has been removed.
Otherwise the only Dan record I need is the last one with the late Walter Becker.

Of all the "Classic Line-Up" albums, I always felt this one was weak but, having now listened to this new 40th Anniversary remastered 2CD version, I have to say that it seems a lot better!! It'll never beat all the previous albums but suffice to say, I like it a lot more after listening to this. The quality of the live recording isn't very good but still listenable. I always loved Motorhead from the first time I ever heard em - shame the "Classic Line-Up" fractured :-( Great nostalgia trip!!!!

So this morning starts some distance musically speaking from messers Waters , Clapton, Sandborn et al; although you might find a hitch hiker on this historic Miami boulevard wearing not much more !
This the duo’s 1995 debut album includes some backing vocals by Pop Idol judge and former Linx member David Grant. The album spent 175 weeks on the UK album charts and went six times Platinum, there were five singles from the album with Lifted being the most played track on national radio in the first quarter of 1996 despite only reaching number 4 on the UK singles chart. I had tickets to see them at the MEN Arena which was cancelled when the duo split in 2003.

Last this morning we close with vinyl and this 1981 album from this British progressive rock band. A concept album, it is based on a true story of a Japanese soldier (Hiroo Onoda) marooned on an island during the Second World War who does not realise that the war is over. The title derives from his family name, 'Onoda'. The album mainly comprises instrumentals; only a few tracks contain lyrics. The lyrics were mainly written by Susan Hoover, except those for "Please Come Home", which were written by Andrew Latimer. It is the last Camel album to date to feature original drummer Andy Ward, and the last to feature more than one original member.

IMO two of Roger Waters's poorer titles.
I would suggest a re-listen, KAOS is especially good, very very mixed with some great musical content and some quite funny bits in it, listen for the fish jokes. Once you know the story behind it then it make more sense.
Pros and Cons - is pretty good IMO with Mr Clapton breaking out from his usual style a doing some excellent guitar work. I believe Waters developed the album as a result of a split with his wife at at the time and and affair.

I've listened to 'Pros and Cons' several times and find it uninvolving.
I've listened to 'Radio Kaos' far less, so am willing to give it another try
Even so, IMO neither are as good as 'Amused to Death' - itself considered to be "The Final Cut, Part 2".

Totally agree, I saw him in Orlando in 1993, by pure chance, he was doing a promotional gig for the album I Was Warned at the Plaza Live and the tickets were free ! I was in a record store in downtown Orlando, when I went to pay for the handful of cheap cd’s that I hadn’t seen at home, I was offered the tickets for the following night. I loved America when things just took you by surprise !

So this morning we kick off with an album that once past the rather grunge first track “Maybe Angels”, it just keeps drawing you in.
This is her second studio album released in 1996 and unlike its predecessor “Tuesday Night Music Club”, which was written by a casual collective formed by Crow and several other musicians, “Sheryl Crow” was entirely produced by Crow, who wrote most of the songs alone or with only one or two collaborators. Most of the album was recorded at Kingsway Studios in New Orleans, Louisiana. The album covers topics of American life, relationship breakups, and moral and ethical issues, while encompassing a variety of music genres such as rock, blues, alternative rock, country, and folk.

Last up and as usual vinyl and this original release pressing of this 1983 album, their eleventh studio album.
Named for its Atco catalogue number, 90125, was a departure from what fans were used to. After Yes disbanded in 1981, following the Drama (1980) tour, bassist Chris Squire, drummer Alan White and Trevor Rabin (guitarist, singer, songwriter) formed Cinema, and began recording an album with original Yes keyboardist Tony Kaye, who had been fired in 1971. They adopted a more commercial and pop-oriented musical direction as the result of their new material, much of which derived from Rabin's demos. During the mixing stage, former Yes singer Jon Anderson, who had left in 1980, accepted an invitation to return and record the co-lead vocals, and subsequently Cinema became the new lineup of Yes.
In December 1980, the Yes line-up of bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Steve Howe, drummer Alan White, singer Trevor Horn, and keyboardist Geoff Downes, completed their 1980 tour in support of the band's tenth album, Drama. While the North American leg was largely successful, the subsequent UK leg received a mixed reaction feedback from the fans, many of whom were unaccepting of Horn and Downes as they had replaced Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman respectively. The group disbanded in early 1981; Horn became a record producer, Howe and Downes co-formed the supergroup Asia, and Squire and White remained together and continued to write material, including their 1981 Christmas single "Run with the Fox". Later in 1981, the two entered sessions with Jimmy Page with the aim of forming a new band named XYZ, but the project was shelved over management differences and singer Robert Plant's disliking of the material. According to White, some ideas that the three had rehearsed ended up on 90125.

"Muscle of Love" was the last album by the Alice Cooper Band before he went 'solo', and the first not to be produced by Bob Ezrin since the non-charting "Easy Action".
I have never owned nor heard this album, though it was released just a few months after "Billion Dollar Babies", one of my favourite albums by anybody. Maybe the packaging put me off, I really can't remember.

V. M. Bhatt plays an instrument he calls a "Mohan vīnā": evolved from the slide guitar and resembling the hollow-bodied curved-top jazz guitars of the 1920s which had "f" shaped sound holes. The neck of the Mohan vīnā however has a wooden extension on the top side, adjacent to the fingerboard, onto which are fitted the tuning pegs for the twelve sympathetic strings. These run under, and are parallel to, the three melody and five drone strings. The tuning pegs for the primary eight strings are located conventionally on the head of the instrument. Bhatt's instrument was inspired by the North Indian instrument known as the Vichitra vīnā, which has a wide unfretted neck, two large resonating gourds, six main strings, and twelve sypathetic strings. It id played with plectra fixed to the fingers of one hand and stopped with a glass ball held in the other. Bhatt's Mohan vīnā sounds very similar to that of a sitar.
Clearly this is Ry Cooder's continuing his interest in exploring other musical genres, first started with his Chicken Skin Music in 1976.
I have to say that the recording level on this CD is ridiculously low, to the point I though there was something with my CDP. All of the four track are long; around 10 minutes long.
My partner said she found the CD 'sad', and what with the low recording level, I'm inclined to agree - so back to a charity shop from whence it came!

Edit: The album finished about ten minutes ago, and it has just started up again! Sleeve says it is called "This Wicked Tongue", and as the CD calls itself a Special Edition this must be a bonus track. Doesn't feel like a bonus to me, more like a punishment for not getting off the sofa quick enough.
Probably didn't help that it followed a Norah Jones CD (which is definitely charity shop bound btw). Polar opposite sound-wise.

IMHO the earlier the better with PJ, the first three albums were fantastic. I like the stuff she's done with John Parish as well.

Yes that's what it is (he says, while hiding his collection of Carpenters albums) :D No, the album in question is called 'Feels Like Home', though the one you mention was also there, sandwiched between my Joe Jackson and Grace Jones albums. So that too has been added to my 'bound for the charity shop' pile.
The vinyl versions come in nice sturdy sleeves, ideal for skinning up on, said no one ever.
So now I own just one Norah Jones song, a duet she did with Ray Charles. I don't mind that.

I beg to differ; I think you'll find i'm right on this one - I go round quite a few charity shops when i'm out and about and you really don't find much rock music in charity shops. What you do find is all the old throw away crap from things like Pop Idol, X-Factor and lots of the "boy band" and "girl band" (using the word "band" very loosely) rubbish that came out in the 90's. It's VERY RARE you see Guns N Roses, ACDC, Metallica, Motorhead, Sabbath, Judas Priest, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, The Cult and so on and so forth............... VERY RARE INDEED!!!! I've always believed quality counts!!!!

You can find all that "quality" crap in the charity shops in London, if you know where to look.
No, I don't tend to patronise london much, it's a place that appears to be designed for people who seem to have a total disregard for what something is really worth, (i.e. a pint of beer at £10 - 15 upwards) and they just pay it!!! I guess it's true that a fool and his/her money are easily parted!!!! Talking of quality crap, I try not to buy it but, I do, at times, when the opportunity is presented, get to read some of it on here !!!

So we start with this great west coast group who were born from the ashes of the Santana Abraxas musicians (Neal Schon and Greg Rollie), plus Ross Valroy and George Tickner from Frumerious Bandersnatch and former Tubes drummer Praire Prince who left in 1974 to be replaced by the now legendary and then ex Zappa and John Mayall Bluesbreakers drummer Aynsley Dunbar, who was replaced by Steve Smith in 1978 due to “artistic differences” ! In 1977 vocalist Robert Fleischmann was replaced by Steve Perry who was to be the catalyst to propel them to legendary status !
This was my first of their albums bought having heard “Any Way You Want It” on Tommy Vance’s Friday Night Rock Show on BBC Radio 1; however, the whole album is great and there are several stand out tracks including “Walks Like A Lady” and “Someday Soon”

Hi Steve, I have 6 of their albums, missing the 1st, Dixie Chicken, Waiting for Columbus and Hoy-Hoy! Sailin' Shoes, Down on the Farm, Let It Roll I picked up for £2 each, very lucky purchase in a closing a record/hifi dealers shop that I knew who was closing down, I had over 200 albums from him. Yes, I agree, I have left mine languishing for too long, and as I was perusing the collection yesterday this one popped out and slapped me around the chops, therefore I did it justice and put it on the TT for a hard earned spin. I think I will be doing that with their brothers over the coming days. Probably one of the best bands to come out of the USA, Toto and Red Hot Chilli Peppers are quite good too, although others may have other ideas.

It just happened to pop up on Radio Paradise whilst I had it on, I remember him on TOTP back in the day. I am quite taken with Radio Paradise they play some interesting music.

There's maybe three tunes on it that could be classed as rock, maybe at a push heavy rock. One 'Tull does Tull' song 'Farm On The Freeway' and the rest is more folk/pop - if there is such a thing.
It's a good album, arguably their last good album - if you like Tull you should get it.
Tull usually classed under 'Progressive Rock', or 'Folk Rock' - used to be anyway, in record shops.
I have a few of their earlier LPs and a couple of compilation CDs. However, based on your endorsement, I'll look out for a copy.
I'm also going to find a copy of the ZZ Top record you cited. Will be a CD copy as the LP is silly money.

After finishing our last 'O' level exam a few of us went round to a schoolmates house and his dad had just bought this album and Bon Jovi 'Slippery When Wet' so first time I had heard them, except for the singles on the radio.
His mum and dad must have been about 17 or less when they had him as they were still quite young. The mother was a bit of a fox, actually.
Hard to grasp that it's now so long ago but it was the midpoint between now, and the end of WW2

The next up is an album that really needs no introduction other than the obvious, this their fourth studio album. Released in April 1982 this album won three Grammys the following year including Album of the Year !

Last and vinyl and this 1973 fifth studio album from “the” English progressive rock supergroup ! The band consisted of Keith Emerson (keyboards) of The Nice, Greg Lake (vocals, bass, guitars, producer) of King Crimson, and Carl Palmer (drums, percussion) of Atomic Rooster. Sadly only Carl Palmer is still with us but his career not only incudes being a founding member of Atomic Rooster but also a member of the legendary supergroup Asia.

I've never owned a copy, or even heard it in its entirety, but 'Toto' is very much on my wish list, especially after learning of David Paich, who has a long association with Boz Scaggs, including co-writing his 3 biggest songs (What Can I Say, Lowdown, Lido Shuffle).

This album was a recommended play on TAS recently, and having listened to it I could not resist getting a vinyl copy, awesome musically! It is an interesting concept album, there are some classic guitar solos with the two guitarists using interplay between them to great effect in parts, the bass and drumming is some of the best I have heard, vocals are excellent all making the whole great. It is not all HM crash and bang, and has some subtle parts, and is quite atmospheric. It is well worth getting a copy if you like this sort of thing. Will become a firm favourite I mine I think.
This 2021 re-issue 2021 done at Abbey Road Studio I have to say is very good IMO, it sounds very dynamic and clear on my system, well worth getting a copy, minimal background noise from the pressing and dead flat LPs, good soundstage and mix, there are several comments saying this release sounds better than the original, one review does not agree. A few LPs of this version are still available on Amazon, and a few on Discogs if you are into LPs. But also well worth getting on CD.
Personally I found the digital hi-res version(2006) on Qobuz a bit forward in terms of mix, and slightly toppy, I have not yet listened to the CD version on Qobuz(2003).

I've just had a look on their website. What they're streaming is an eclectic mix indeed. I can access it by first asking Alexa to enable Radio Paradise, then thereafter asking Alexa to play Radio Paradise. I'll give it a go tomorrow afternoon when I next have the house to myself :)

I can bee quite eclectic, but generally I find that most of it is quite interesting selections, as I understand it the selections are made by humans and not software. A friend said they like feedback and will very quickly answer any emails.

Good album, I was playing this last week. But my favourite is Billion Dollar Babies (I know I've said it before). Those two albums were released only about 18 months or so apart, using the same producer (Bob Ezrin), but huge improvement in SQ - I'll be buying the 50th Anniversary CD set shortly, and you can have my old copy.

I have to admit, I love the album cover, it kinda sets the tone for what's inside on the recording :) As for the album, No, I checked his website and couldn't see anything but, apparently he's done a film documentary about being on the road going across america; its on Amazon prime I think and it's called American Mileage - i'd be interested to watch that but I ain't got Amazon Prime (for me, there are toooooo many streaming channels now - it gets a bit rediculous).
I think he's done 3 albums; 1. I see. 2. Crooked Hill. 3. Unleash. Also, there's an E.P. called New Age Blues. I've listened to them all and can honestly say that I really like em. If you like the blues and can accept it being fused with a little bit of other things then I think you'll like this. As I've already said, considering he's a busker and plays all the instruments at the same time, he kicks out a seriously great vibe!!!!!!
I have to admit, I love the album cover .....
So do I! He sounds like an interesting guy.

Lots of good tracks, the CD version is actually 71 songs. most of my music is from the 70’s and 80’s, the 50’s before I was interested only started buying records in the 60’s.

A very hard question to answer; I'd probably agree with what you've said. The 40's didn't interest me, (well before my time) the 50's (again, before my time) were really the start of rock n roll and some of the music is listenable but, come the 60's (the era of my birth) things started developing big style and the 70's, well, they were supersonic for "music" and the 80's were pretty much the same. The 90's had some great music and music movements and as it came towards the end of that decade, things were starting to go downhill; the only thing that really caught my attention and, I did really like as we moved into the noughties was the Nu-Metal movement and the Desert Rock/Stoner Rock movement - some great music and bands there!! As the noughties moved on, we had fkn sh1t things like "pop "talent" shows and then the absolute DROSS of the procession of sickly teeny pop "stars" and music made by accountants for corporate giants :steam::steam:
As for now, the only thing that's interesting me is the reformation of OASIS (who I really like) but I will not be going to see them live because I will NOT be playing into the scumbag promoters' hands who are using it to push the gigs' ticket prices to fkn disgraceful limits, ripping fans off and getting themselves filthy stinking rich. I wouldn't pay it for the Stones, I didn't do it for Black Sabbath's last gig so I wont do it for Oasis. :nono: :nono: Fk THE PROMOTERS GREED!!!!

I think there are 'gems' from every era of music, but 1968 to 1978 certainly ticks a lot of my boxes.

Blur - 1997 - Blur. I'm not a big fan of Blur but, in the late 90's they did 2 albums where they changed their style and were more experimental - A LOT, LOT BETTER!!! :thumbsup: This is a really good album by Blur :thumbsup:
