Yes, quite a mix of artists and each track is pretty good in its own right, picked it up for £7 in 2nd hand shop in Dorking on a trip to a friends.

Yeah, I know what you mean; I loved the musicianship (especially the bass playing) but I found Maiden's music a bit same (ish). I loved Def Lep on Pyromania and Hysteria; I saw them live on the round stage on the Hysteria tour............. WELL GOOD !!!

Early 80s bands like Iron Maiden, Saxon and Def Leppard (pre the L.A. hair metal look).Well my first Iron Maiden concert was 1981 at Lancaster University before Bruce Dickinson (formerly of Samson) was lead singer and the support band was Trust. I saw them again in 1982 on the Beast on the Road tour at the Apollo Ardwuck Green Manchester when Dickinson had joined the band and also Nico McBain (formerly of Trust) replaced drummer Clive Burr. I saw Saxon on thier Wheels of Steel tour at the Monsters of Rock Festival in 1980 along with Rainbow, Scorpions, Judas Priest and April Wine. Regrettably, I never got to see Def Leppard back in the day, however, there might still be a chance to put that right as they were still touring up to last year !

I remember this coming out back in 93 and, being a big Zep fan, wanting to get it.
But after a couple of years on the dole I'd gone back to university and was on the bones of my arse. Plus a few reviews said it was rubbish so I couldn't take the chance.

I have original vinyl version, was thinking about buying the remastered 2lp version to see if there is a big difference in sound.
The version I have is pretty good, even though it is on red translucent vinyl there is no surface noise, a very ambient recording, the first track you really get the church reverbs.

the noise is actually traffic outside the church it was recorded in, it comes and goes but most prominent at the beginning. If I recall correctly it was recorded on a 2 track tape machine using one omnidirectional mic which the band all positioned themselves around it and a mic for the vocalist, I think it took them one day to try different set ups until they felt it was as good as they would get, and the next day just laid the tracks down live.

An alternative source, and one that I subscribe to, is that the background noise is the church's air conditioning system. It is too even and constant to be traffic noise, and if you listen carefully you can hear the 'squeak' of the fan bearings.
But you are right - The Trinity Sessions was recorded using a Calrec Soundfield microphone set to the Blumlein 'crossed figure of 8' configuration.

My version is also MOV, and the recording is excellent, one of the best I have. It is however black vinyl, not coloured. Don't know how much difference that makes though
