Yeah, when I ask you for the Scottish stats later mate, could you manage to do it without half killing yourself?:D;)
Seriously though, I'm sorry to hear you're sore, and knew that would be the case after your fall. What happened - did one of your sticks get caught on the carpet? You need to try and always concentrate and not lose your balance, which I guess is easier said than done, but try and be more careful!:)

As I said, I'd not only strip every single dollar from the funding of these labs, so that in future NOTHING like this EVER happens again, but also the LIVES of those responsible...

deaths up again
Scottish numbers: 24 September 2021
Summary
3,667 new cases of COVID-19 reported
46,217 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
8.5% of these were positive
50 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
79 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
1,011 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
4,168,278 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination and 3,820,182 have received their second dose
Anyhoo... Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below) https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 35,623 (36,710).
Deaths: 180 (182).
Hospitalisations: 794 (714).
Mostly pretty stable, with once again the good news that hospitalisations are continuing to fall/remain lower, and have been now for some time, so that has to sign that things are getting a bit better. However, we need new cases to start falling similarly, then deaths, before we can remotely begin to celebrate.
In Wales today (with previous day's figures shown in brackets):
New cases: 2727 (2476)
Deaths: 2 (5)
So once again, things are still pretty stable in Wales, but with less deaths.
Marco.

Can you get any stats for daily new admissions (hospitalisations), rather than simply how many folks are in hospital, or is that covered by the 79 mentioned above?

Marco.
Was busy yesterday, so didn't get a chance to update. Yesterday in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below) https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 31,348 (35,623).
Deaths: 122 (180).
Hospitalisations: 777 (794).
Hard to tell much on a Sunday, but the figures seem to being going in the right direction. We'll see how things look tomorrow and Tuesday. However, just for reference, here's how things were last Sunday:
Positive tests: 29.612 (30.144).
Deaths: 56 (164).
Hospitalisations: 932 (909).
Aside from the death figures being artificially low last week (due to lack of data updating), you can see that there's not too much change (certainly nothing notably worse this week), *but* hospitalisations are notably down, so that has to be good news.
I'll continue to look back like this on the past week's figures as an on-going exercise, just for reference, as I think it acts as a useful barometer for how things are progressing.
In Wales yesterday (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below):
New cases: 2727 (2717).
Deaths: 2 (15).
Last week:
New cases: 2717 (2618).
Deaths: 15 (8).
So hardly any change in Wales, although deaths are down, which is good.

I was doing that before Covid came along, I'm just naturally antisocial! :)
Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below) https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 32,417 (31,348).
Deaths: 58 (122).
Hospitalisations: 777 (777).
Usual Sunday stats...I suspect that the figure for new cases (positive tests) is about right, but again the deaths figure will be artificially low, and hospitalisations haven't been updated yet.
In Wales today (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below):
New cases: 3,303 (2727).
Deaths: 13 (2).
So, unusually for a Sunday, a small rise in new cases and deaths. I've seen that before though, almost like a catch up in data, so we'll see where we are tomorrow and whether things notably alter from that or not.
Marco.
Scottish numbers: 27 September 2021(Monday)
Summary
2,069 new cases of COVID-19 reported
23,553 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
9.5% of these were positive
1 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive (noting that Register Offices are now generally closed at weekends)
76 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
1,023 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
4,181,617 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination and 3,829,881 have received their second dose

Marco.
yeah but a low amount tested so at about same level. would like to see the % down nearer 5
Oh yes, so would I - down to fuck all, preferably!
However, even if more people had been tested, it doesn't necessarily mean that it would've revealed more positive results, as it depends on how prevalent the virus is now in the community.
In that respect, it could be the case that even if more people had been tested, positive results might not have gone up by much. Of course, we don't know, but that's my 'glass half-full' way of looking at things anyway. I'm pretty sure there's been other days, a while back, where new cases were higher from a similar amount of tests:)
Marco.
Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below) https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 37,960 (32,417).
Deaths: 40 (58).
Hospitalisations: 775 (777).
Well, firstly, I think the death figure is artificially low, with data not having been updated yet from the weekend. However, the new cases figure should be reasonably accurate, and disappointingly still shows a slight upwards trend.
The continuing good news though is that hospitalisations remain stable and on a general downwards trend. It's that figure which tends to drive government strategy, in terms of controlling the situation and any further restrictions imposed or otherwise, and therefore why it's important. We'll see where we are tomorrow with the usual 'Tuesday hike'.
The figures in Wales haven't been updated yet from yesterday.
Marco.
Just had a look now at the figures for Wales (previous day's ones in brackets):
New cases: 5,659 (3,303).
Deaths: 12 (13).
So a bit of a spike currently in new cases, perhaps a delayed impact of kids going back to school? If so, things should settle down again soon.
Marco.

Apologies. I didn't notice the date on your post above. Hopefully will be much lower.
Lol, no worries, and it is, and on a Tuesday too, when traditionally figures are normally at their highest... Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below) https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 34,526 (37,960).
Deaths: 167 (40).
Hospitalisations: 706 (775).
So yes, the new cases figure is lower than yesterday's, and the death figure is also more accurate (higher), but thankfully also showing a downwards trend of nearly 10% over the last 7 days. Plus hospitalisations continue on a downwards trend now of nearly 15%.
Therefore, the figures (hopefully) are slowly starting to go in the right direction.
In Wales (previous day's figures in brackets):
New cases: 2,270 (5,659).
Deaths: 6 (12).
Slight difference in Wales, too!:)

Yes, but remember what I said yesterday about that:)
Maybe they're not testing as many because the situation's getting better, and more tests would reveal that, as Nicola 'vaccine passports' Sturgeon [yes, I'll NEVER forgive her for that] wants to keep folks on 'high alert'?;)
Marco.

Marco.
yup its one reason... fewer folk coming forward etc, although at over 10% it suggests there is still a fair amount around. but im happier its lowering
Just for reference, these were the stats last Tuesday for the UK (with the previous day's figures in brackets):
Positive tests: 31,564 (36,000).
Deaths: 203 (49).
Hospitalisations: 861 (930).
And today (with the previous day's figures in brackets):
Positive tests: 34,526 (37,960).
Deaths: 167 (40).
Hospitalisations: 706 (775).
So, new cases are hovering around similar levels (if you take into consideration the previous day's total from last week of 36,000), although still overall a little higher, *however* both deaths and hospitalisations are notably down.
New cases are always liable to fluctuate a lot, as they're influenced by many factors. The important thing is that there are less people going into hospital on a daily basis, and thankfully of those going in, less are dying.
Therefore, as I've said before, the situation clearly isn't getting worse; it's getting better, but just not as quickly as we'd like!:)
Marco.
my local area is now up to 4th in the league. alas its a league where you want to be bottom. all areas seem to be going down except mine

Scottish numbers: 29 September 2021

Graph showing UK Covid hospitalisations -
You can see how they have climbed since lockdown ended in July. Might be levelling off now but will need a few more weeks to see if that's what's really occurring.
https://i.ibb.co/41N7rr8/current-covid-patients-hospital.png (https://ibb.co/FH7KTT5)
Thanks for that, which is useful. I do think though that's what's happening, and I predict that by the end of October we'll be in a much better place - just my gut feeling:)
New cases aside, which has been somewhat up and down, today's figures also support the notion of things levelling off... Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below) https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 36,722 (34,526).
Deaths: 150 (167).
Hospitalisations: 659 (706).
That's the first time in months (during this 3rd wave) that hospitalisations (daily new admissions) have gone down below 700, representing a drop of nearly 15% in the last 7 days. And deaths are also down again from yesterday, representing a drop of just over 7% in the last 7 days. We just need to keep an eye on new cases, but as Grant points out, figures there depend on how many people have been tested.
The bottom line though is that if hospitalisations and deaths continue to fall, we're going in the right direction.
In Wales (previous day's figures in brackets):
New cases: 3.369 (2.270).
Deaths: 9 (6).
I thought yesterday's new cases figure was artificially low, so probably a bit of a catch up has occurred. I'd expect it to float around that level, up or down slightly, for the rest of the week.
Marco.
scotland is still higher than uk, but looks to be reducing slightly as they die off:doh:

Deaths: 137 (150).
Hospitalisations: 657 (659).
So, the figures are thankfully still going in the right direction - even (very slightly) new cases.
In Wales (previous day's figures in brackets):

Deaths: 13 (9).
Cases coming down, which is good and deaths are about stable.

Perspective check 2
There are more than 166,000 cancer deaths in the UK every year, that's more than 450 every day (2016-2018).
In females in the UK, there were around 77,800 cancer deaths in 2018.
In males in the UK, there were around 89,000 cancer deaths in 2018.
Every four minutes someone in the UK dies from cancer.
Lung, bowel, breast and prostate cancers together accounted for almost half (45%) of all cancer deaths in the UK in 2018.
Around a fifth of all cancer deaths are from lung cancer.
Mortality rates for all cancers combined in the UK are highest in people aged 90+ (2016-2018).
Each year more than half (54%) of all cancer deaths in the UK are in people aged 75 and over (2016-2018).

Gary
And if you die from any of that within 28 days of testing positive for Covid then you count as a 'Covid death.' Even though you'd have died anyway. And about 20% would be false positives for Covid anyway.
But I recall start of the year we compared the average annual death rate in the UK to the death rate over the past 12 months and it was up 30K, so that was probably the true figure for covid-related deaths, not 120K or whatever the official figure was at the time.
Nevertheless Covid is still an additional risk of death that we didn't use to have.
So, to clarify, are you saying that they've artificially inflated the figures to make the situation appear worse than it actually is?
Marco.
So, to clarify, are you saying that they've artificially inflated the figures to make the situation appear worse than it actually is?

No, but there has to be some way of defining the number of victims and that's the one they chose. There are probably reasons for that which I don't know about. Seems that every country has it's own method.
Haha - good try at dodging the truth, but no cigar!:ner:

I don't know what the truth is. I would guess that there are reasons that they do it the way they do, but not being any sort of medical practitioner I wouldn't make any assumptions since there may be unknown unknowns (to me anyway).
I can't think of any possible 'agenda' using that method might serve. Why would you deliberately inflate the numbers? If lockdown was made permanent and other draconian measures were being introduced maybe that would make sense - scare people into obedience. Except none of that is happening and instead they are trying to get the country back to normal.
it's possible that it's the opposite - they don't want to be accused of 'hiding the true death toll' so they just count everyone who could possibly have died from Covid.
I'd guess the question must already have been asked and answered somewhere but I can't be arsed to search for it.
Covid antiviral pill can halve risk of hospitalisation.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-58764440
I can't think of any possible 'agenda' using that method might serve. Why would you deliberately inflate the numbers?
Simple: to increase the uptake of vaccination. 'Oooh - look how bad things are, you better get jabbed to protect yourself!'
They're still not happy with the amount of 'dodgers'. especially among the young. Therefore, expect further 'creative reconstruction of the figures' and coercion (as we've seen with vaccine passports introduced at nightclubs and large events in Scotland), in order to up the jabbing stats!

Covid antiviral pill can halve risk of hospitalisation.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-58764440
Being the cynic, that I am, there are a couple of ways to comment on this....
Firstly, why has this taken so long to develop? Oddly the vaccine was quickly available! I did read somewhere that development (can’t substantiate because I forgot where) of a drug like this was halted.
Secondly, is this a medium for getting same stuff into our system as the vaccine without an injection?
Just thought...Thirdly are they covering off the “cocktail “ of drugs that similarly has been trialled in the US?
Gary
Simple: to increase the uptake of vaccination. 'Oooh - look how bad things are, you better get jabbed to protect yourself!'
They're still not happy with the amount of 'dodgers'. especially among the young. Therefore, expect further 'creative reconstruction of the figures' and coercion (as we've seen with vaccine passports introduced at nightclubs and large events in Scotland), in order to up the jabbing stats!
Marco.
But that assumes that another way-out theory is also true - that the vaccine contains some secret...'thing'. A 'thing' that's totally undetectable.
No, not at all. It's obvious that the government want as many people as possible vaccinated (to offer protection from the virus) - you can't deny that; various forms of 'encouragement' for such are all over the place.
Therefore, falsely inflating the figures, to make the situation appear more serious, is simply another way of 'encouraging' uptake.
Marco.
For some reason yesterday the data was late in being updated, but which it has now. Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below) https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 35,577 (36,480).
Deaths: 127 (137).
Hospitalisations: 768 (657).
So, a slight rise in hospitalisations (let's hope that's only temporary), although still showing a general downwards trend of over 12%, and a drop in new cases, which is welcome, as is the continued drop in deaths, down by nearly 20% over the same 7 day period.
In Wales (previous day's figures in brackets):
New cases: 3,009 (2,580).
Deaths: 5 (13).

I know this will make me seem thick, but I don't care - WHY does the government want us all vaccinated? Is it not simply that vaccines are cheaper than hospital stays? I'm assuming here that jabs actually do reduce the chances of serious infection.
I'm happy to learn what people think, as long as it doesn't involve trawling through endless numbers of links :)
You're not thick, nor wrong in what you're saying. Some of that will no doubt be the case.
The cynics, however, might also say that BJ-boy wants to keep big pharma happy (so Billy-boy Gates gets even more obscenely rich), therefore not only encouraging vaccine uptake, but introducing various 'boosters', facilitates that through increased sales!
However, regardless of any of that, as I've said, one sure way (aside from coercion, as seen in Scotland with vaccine passports) of encouraging uptake is to ramp up the fear factor, and make the situation appear worse than it actually is, which is a possible reason for inflating the figures, as discussed with Martin:)

What I still find way-out is that we’re allegedly in a pandemic that has a low kill rate and you need a questionable test to indicate you have it with no symptoms.
The way masks are worn is a great way to spread any infections. No publication of any sort indicating how they should be worn, or the implications of ignorance.
If no one is trying to detect a “thing” it will remain hidden!
Gary
I think that is the most likely - imagine the field day our press would have if there were the slightest indication that the figures given were "hiding the true death toll", far better for government to play it safe and use every case where Covid may have been a contributory factor.
Only got to look at the panic caused by press reporting of the possibility of fuel shortages at the pumps

It's amazing in this day and age that anyone believes what they read in the papers. I haven't bought a newspaper in decades, perhaps I never did.
When on a 'staycation' recently, part of the 'upgrade package' was free newspapers. I couldn't be arsed going to the office to collect them - my Kindle provided all the fiction I wanted :)
I think that is the most likely - imagine the field day our press would have if there were the slightest indication that the figures given were "hiding the true death toll", far better for government to play it safe and use every case where Covid may have been a contributory factor.
So how is not wanting to be accused of hiding the true death toll best served by this:
And if you die from any of that* [deaths from cancer and other diseases] within 28 days of testing positive for Covid then you count as a 'Covid death.' Even though you'd have died anyway.
*For the definition of 'that', see the preceding post from here from Gary: https://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?68302-Johns-Hopkins-Medical-Centre-World-Coronavirus-infection-Map-by-Country&p=1293231#post1293231
That's not hiding the true death toll is it, if Covid wasn't the catalyst or ACTUAL/true cause of death? It's inflating the death toll, by stating Covid as the cause of death when it wasn't an *indisputable fact*, and indeed on the contrary, highly likely that the cause was something else.
Poor old Billy was on his last legs, having been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, and simply because he tested positive for Covid within 28 days of his death, it was Covid that killed him, not the cancer that eventually had destroyed his brain and stopped it from functioning!
Yeah, right, pull the other one...

I like to think I am a rational person, but I cannot rationalise any reasons for The worlds response to this alleged pandemic.
There are strange people and organisations in this world that I have no comprehension of their intentions or reasons!
I would question your assumption that Mass vaccination that has limited, and non proven efficacy is correct.
When in the past has anyone been told that they have a virus/disease that could be fatal and they are sent home to die with no treatment. Only to be hospitalised when you are effectively already dying!
The search for a vaccine was given precedence over treatments that, at an early stage, could have enhanced life expectancy and negate unnecessary hospital admission. I’m not going to give you the link that indicate positive trials for a cocktail of drugs that work at this important infection period. It’s in an earlier post.
Strangely as of this week a major drug company has announced a drug that trials suggest may be effective.
Sorry the real answer to your question is beyond any current understanding by me. Simple logic defies reasoning.
Gary

Gary
That's the point though. There must have been by now billions of doses of the vaccines produced. And yet not one of those doses has found its way to one of the many active anti-vaxxers who has then had it independently analysed in an attempt to prove that it has some ulterior effect?
Either that really has not happened yet, which seems unlikely, or it has happened and they found nothing and so kept quiet about it.
Edit - or there's option 3 which is they have not even tried to get a sample for analysis because they know they'll find nothing and in any case they are making a load of money scaremongering on the internet - which is their real motive - so why bother?
You have to draw the line somewhere; in the case of Covid deaths "the line" happens to be within 28 days of testing positive, it gives a standard reference point to work from.
Although I must admit that, for example, being a victim of a road traffic accident within 28 days of testing positive shouldn't add to the numbers.
In order to get closer to a "true" figure for Covid deaths, autopsies for every death would be required, but that's not going to happen (something about Brexit leading to a shortage of pathologists I suppose).
Back to the "hiding" of the death toll, surely (for the government) it is better to be accused of including every possible contributory factor rather than making the figures artificially low
So how is not wanting to be accused of hiding the true death toll best served by this:

.
Yes it's inflating the death toll so they can't be criticised for massaging the death toll numbers down. It's picking the worst case figures and using them. It makes it impossible for someone to claim that it's actually worse than they are portraying.
Although as I said it's only a guess as to why they use the counting method they do.

Has anyone had sight of one of these death certificates? Do they actually say that Covid was the cause? Or merely present? Or perhaps a "contributory factor"? That would be a difficult one to prove/disprove.
You have to draw the line somewhere; in the case of Covid deaths "the line" happens to be within 28 days of testing positive, it gives a standard reference point to work from.

Yes, but you also have to draw a line in terms of what you believe is the truth, in terms of how accurate the death figures are for Covid, and also the motivation behind the government's methodology for calculating those figures.
In that respect, I stand by what I wrote in my last post. If someone's already on their last legs, dying from terminal brain cancer, but tests positive for Covid and dies within 28-days of that test, the strong likelihood is that the ACTUAL cause of death was cancer, not Covid!
However, as you say, without an autopsy, the real cause of death is not factually provable, but the lack of pathologists, for whatever reason, and subsequent autopsies, is not sufficient excuse to blame it on Covid.
In the case above, of which in reality there must've been tens of thousands, it should've gone down as cause of death 'not proven', and separate figures kept for those cases, from those where, on the other hand, Covid was almost certainly the *actual* cause of death, such as an otherwise healthy person contacting the virus and dying of its symptoms.
Then we'd have a more accurate idea of what the true death figures were for Covid.
Marco.

Another thing to consider is that there are only so many pathologists in the country, and to perform sufficiently thorough post mortems on all of the cases when hundreds are dying every day would be a mammoth task. So what do you do? Not mention Covid, even though it's there, and let it's presence disappear from our records forever?
Back to the "hiding" of the death toll, surely (for the government) it is better to be accused of including every possible contributory factor rather than making the figures artificially low
Yes, it's much better to have people thinking 'It's not as bad as the Government say it is' than 'It's much worse than the Government say it is.'
For the first one you just think they are erring too far on the side of caution, but for the second one that's 'They're lying to us.'

No worries. So do you agree that if they'd done that instead, and filed cases like that under 'not proven', rather than simply lumping them in with the much more provable Covid deaths (as outlined), we'd likely have a more accurate figure for deaths from Covid, instead of (for whatever reason) a falsely inflated one?
Marco.

Okay I bothered to search and this is the official government line as to why they do it how they do: (This is from August 2020)
Professor John Newton, Director of Health Improvement at Public Health England, said:
The way we count deaths in people with COVID-19 in England was originally chosen to avoid underestimating deaths caused by the virus in the early stages of the pandemic.
Our analysis of the long-term impact of the infection now allows us to move to new methods, which will give us crucial information about both recent trends and overall mortality burden due to COVID-19.
and also
This follows concerns raised by academics from the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine about the original measure, which counted anyone who had ever tested positive as a COVID-associated death. They called for the introduction of a 21-day measure in order to accurately assess the impact of the virus on mortality rates.

How are the Covid death figures worked out in Europe? Have they gone down the "Not proven" route? If so, and their death figures were comparably similar to ours, their death rates would then clearly be much greater than ours. There needs to be a global standard for this, otherwise it all means jack shit.

Idiotic govt.
Care home workers who are not prepared to get the Covid vaccine should get another job, Sajid Javid has said.
The health secretary said he was not prepared to "pause" the requirement for care staff in England to be fully vaccinated by 11 November.
His remarks come after warnings that some homes will be unable to cope if workers are forced to leave.
The National Care Association has urged the government to delay the jab deadline to give staff more time.
It says it will have a knock-on effect on the NHS if care homes have to cut resident numbers.
From 11 November, it will be mandatory for anyone who works in a Care Quality Commission-registered care home in England to be fully vaccinated, unless they have a medical exemption.
Mr Javid told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "If you work in a care home you are working with some of the most vulnerable people in our country and if you cannot be bothered to go and get vaccinated, then get out and go and get another job.
"If you want to look after them (care home residents), if you want to cook for them, if you want to feed them, if you want to put them to bed, then you should get vaccinated.
"If you are not going to get vaccinated then why are you working in care?"
And the UK would be shown up to be the Covid Death capital of the world. I've not heard this reported, so either they all use similar criteria to us, or their death rates are considerably higher. Who knows?
Well, too bad. If that's true, you can't change the facts. And in any case, who's fault would it be? Answer: the many stupidly wrong decisions that the government has made throughout this pandemic, so fess up and have the balls to admit your mistakes!
Plus, and this is really the most important point... The stats (deaths included) DRIVE the decisions that the government makes to control the virus, including of course the imposing of restrictions such as lockdowns, so if the stats are inaccurate, and perhaps given what we're discussing, grossly so, then we've all been suffering unnecessarily because of impositions on our freedoms, based upon stats that made things look far worse than they actually were!!
Marco.
Idiotic govt.
It's absolutely crazy, mate! And aside from anything else, especially this:
Care home workers who are not prepared to get the Covid vaccine should get another job, Sajid Javid has said.
COME AGAIN? What kind of precedent does that set, in terms of the future freedoms of ALL of us..? What has our supposedly 'free' country become??
They make the vaccine non-mandatory, and supposedly down to people's FREE choice, but if they don't 'play ball' by having it, then they simply make it mandatory via the back door. That's *exactly* what's happening here. Coercion is being used to FORCE people into being vaccinated against their will!
Is that the behaviour of a democracy in a supposedly FREE country???
It's exactly the same with the introduction of vaccine passports in Scotland (for entry to nightclubs and large events), and which may also come into force soon in Wales: using coercion to, and I use the word lightly, 'encourage' the younger people who attend these places to get vaccinated.
THAT was the real reason for introducing these passports, not to help 'keep people safe' in nightclubs, or whatever, when we know that vaccination does not mean that you're not a carrier for the virus. The vaccinated can still spread the virus just the same, albeit at a (questionably) lower level. Exactly what level that is hasn't really been proven.
Therefore the message from this government, in terms of vaccines, is clearly: 'Choose not to be vaccinated if you wish, but in the end we'll MAKE you have the vaccine, whether you like it or not, simply by making it harder for you to live!'
And the best example of that is, DO as WE say, or you'll lose your job! Fuck that!:steam:
Coercion is the behaviour of FASCISTS, not libertarians supposedly running a democracy. Therefore, people, we must continue to protect our civil liberties and fight for our freedoms, or the Britain we all know and love is going to be a very different place in future!
:trust:

And to answer this pish:
Mr Javid told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "If you work in a care home you are working with some of the most vulnerable people in our country and if you cannot be bothered to go and get vaccinated, then get out and go and get another job.
"If you want to look after them (care home residents), if you want to cook for them, if you want to feed them, if you want to put them to bed, then you should get vaccinated.
"If you are not going to get vaccinated then why are you working in care?"
It's not a case of 'can't be bothered to get vaccinated'. If you consider it ethically wrong, for religious reasons (as is the case for many Muslims who work in the care sector), or UNSAFE, for any reason, then who gives you the right to FORCE someone to inject themselves with something that THEY believe is harmful to them??
It doesn't matter if they're wrong or imagining something that doesn't exist; it's THEIR body and THEIR judgement, and what THEY believe is true!
So the key question is: if the government is now FORCING people to inject themselves with something that they think is unsafe (or unethical), or face the consequences, and that's simply allowed to happen unchallenged, then where does it end???
What else will people be forced into next against their will, or penalised for, for non-compliance? Euthanasia after 70, or when you become too much of a burden on the state? It's like we're living in South Korea or Nazi Germany, not Britain....
And all this for a virus who's threat is waning, soon set to become endemic, and managed in the same way as flu!

Positive tests: 30,301 (35,577).
Deaths: 121 (127).
Hospitalisations: 768 (768).
I suspect that the figure for hospitalisations hasn't been updated from yesterday, hence why it remains the same. The good news though, is that new cases are notably down.
Now I know it's a weekend, but last Saturday there were 31,348 new cases, and the day before 35,623, plus deaths also continue to go down, so the figures are continuing to head in the right direction.

Besides from the family picture whit the big jar of sweets, what are the chances that she might have been diabetic?

Well, Sandro, it's good news in the sense that if the threat of Covid is reduced to the same status as the flu, we'll be in a better position then than we are now!:) However, I agree with what you've said about treatment, etc, and one more death being one too many.
The fact is though, Covid is here to stay, in one form or another, and when its level of virulence becomes no greater than that of the flu, then we'll simply have to deal with it in the same way, and learn to live with it, without introducing further Draconian measures that impinge on people's civil liberties, in the name of attempting to control it!
Marco.
My problem with this, I accept it’s only a WSJ opinion, is the assumption that statistics being used to make decisions about the definition of endemic are true and factual.
I understand that, but what exactly, to date, in this whole mess has been undeniably true and factual? It doesn't exist. The figures are going in the right direction for Covid to become endemic, so that'll do me for now.
Marco.

Marco.
Your reply seems to have pulled the first part of my previous post out of context somehow, and made it look like I was sympathetic to the UK's position. Not my intention to make it look like that, but maybe your misunderstanding stems from my not being clear enough.
However, the part you call "the most important part" could be used to describe any or all of the world's governments, and may be assumed such until we have more facts. Otherwise it just becomes another poke at our government, who as far as we know are no worse than any of the others. I'm not a BJ fanboy BTW, didn't even vote for him :(
Anyway, I'm going to leave this discussion to the rest of you guys, who know much more than me about this stuff, and in the morning I'll be back to music and bowel movement topics :)

I fail to see how this is an upgrade as If the Fauci virus became endemic it will be here to stay and the "mandatory vaccine" will have reasons to be put in place.
We ,as a very inclusive level, should strive to eradicate it!
Please remember that the Vaccines only work on a tiny part of this construct
Natural immunity act on a much broader part of the virus
foremost what we need is a way to cure it and to expose and protest against how this has been handled, spinned and politicized

Sandro, the fact is, Covid (or any other Coronavirus) *isn't* going away. It's with us now for the duration, so the best outcome we can hope for is that it eventually poses no more of a threat than flu, and that's where I think we'll end up soon!:)

Quite right about the virus being with us for good now and natural immunity will be the main hope for the future.

Edit: Just looked it up and verified in "Nature"

suppose the question is, how do they know its antibiotic resistant if antibiotics only appeared in mid 20th c and these virus's(and i assume they mean bacterial) are millions of years old??
sounds like scaremongoring
According to article in newspaper, samples were taken and over 100 different resistant microbes were found - mind you, whether or not they are harmful is another matter, I suppose they could be a source of "new" antibacterial agents

Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below) https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 30,439 (30,301).
Deaths: 43 (121).
Hospitalisations: 755 (768).
Deaths are obviously artificially low, being a Sunday, but I reckon that the other figures are pretty accurate, so things are still heading in the right direction.
As a point of reference, this was where we were last Sunday (with the previous day's figures in brackets):
Positive tests: 32,417 (31,348).
Deaths: 58 (122).
Hospitalisations: 777 (777)
You can see that all the figures are down from last week, new cases notably so, therefore let's hope in the coming week this continue the same way, or start to drop quicker!:)

Kind of mixed figures...New cases notably up, but I suspect there's been a bit of a catch up after the weekend, due to the delay in data updating, so that may account for the rise in those figures. In that respect, we'll see what Tuesday's 'hike' brings. I think they'll possibly be lower.
Deaths I still feel are artificially low, and haven't been fully updated yet. Again we'll see what tomorrow brings. Hospitalisations remain stable.

Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below) https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 33,869 (35,077).
Deaths: 166 (33).
Hospitalisations: 642 (754).
From yesterday:
New cases notably up, but I suspect there's been a bit of a catch up after the weekend, due to the delay in data updating, so that may account for the rise in those figures. In that respect, we'll see what Tuesday's 'hike' brings. I think they'll possibly be lower.
...and so it proved. Best Tuesday figures for a long time, and the first time hospitalisations have gone below 700 during this 3rd wave, plus deaths are down too, by 15.5%. Long may the figures continue in this direction!
In Wales today (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below):
New cases: 1,758 (3,986).
Deaths: 2 (17).
Again, as I thought, yesterday's figured were falsely inflated, due to a catch up in data. We'll see where things go for the rest of the week.
Marco.
As a point of reference, here are last Tuesday's figures (with the previous day's in brackets):
Positive tests: 34,526 (37,960).
Deaths: 167 (40).
Hospitalisations: 706 (775).
And the Tuesday before that:
Positive tests: 31,564 (36,000).
Deaths: 203 (49).
Hospitalisations: 861 (930).
And the Tuesday before that:
Positive tests: 26,628 (30,825).
Deaths: 185 (61).
Hospitalisations: 1009 (1076).
What's interesting is that in most instances new cases have been lower than they are now, but they've been up and down like a yoyo, reflecting spikes occurring for various reasons, but in recent weeks this has levelled of and currently shows a downwards trend of 3%. I believe that trend will continue in the coming weeks and result in a marked and sustained reduction.
BUT...Look at the figures for hospitalisations (in red), and where we were 3 weeks ago, with 1076 at its peek, the day before the stats shown! Now that figure is 642. Deaths have also continued to fall.
Therefore, without doubt, things are going in the right direction, and I believe this marks a turning point and a sustained reduction in all areas, new cases, deaths and hospitalisations, so that by the beginning of November, we'll be in a much better place:)
Granty, it would be interesting if you could do a similar thing with the Scottish stats, and show progress from where things were 3 weeks (or a month) ago until now:)
Marco.
Scottish numbers: 6 October 2021
Summary
3,055 new cases of COVID-19 reported
46,892 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results

68 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19

4,229,178 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination and 3,852,067 have received their second dose

Positive tests: 39,851 (33,869).
Deaths: 143 (166).
Hospitalisations: 666 (642).
New cases stubbornly refuse to fall, although I suspect the sharp rise on yesterday's figures may partly be due to a catch up on data. We'll find out tomorrow, if they drop back down again to around yesterday's levels, which I suspect will be the case.
Deaths continue to fall, now by nearly 15%, which is good, and hospitalisations remain stable, but still on a downwards trend of 5.4%.

UK-wise, the stubbornly high stat is new cases... Thought it'd be down today, but something seems to be causing a bit of a spike.

There also seems to be a spike in new cases in Wales. Let's hope that both are shortlived.

Not great news here, as the spike in new cases continues, and now deaths are rising. Hopefully, this is as bad as it gets before things improve.
Marco.
Scottish numbers: 9 October 2021
Summary
2,417 new cases of COVID-19 reported
31,935 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
8.1% of these were positive
18 new reported deaths of people who have tested positive
61 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
943 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
4,246,101 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 3,859,839 have received their second dose
Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below): https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 34,950 (35,060).
Deaths: 133 (127).
Hospitalisations: 817 (747).
Again, new cases (for now) are thankfully going in the right direction, and deaths are stable, but worryingly hospitalisations are creeping up again, and we really don't want that. We'll probably have to wait now until Tuesday to see how things stand.
No new updates yet for Wales.
Marco.
Scottish numbers: 10 October 2021
Summary
2,363 new cases of COVID-19 reported
29,419 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
8.7% of these were positive
1 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive (noting that Register Offices are now generally closed at weekends).
54 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
935 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
4,253,765 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 3,861,899 have received their second dose

Still no new data yet for Wales... Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below): https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 34,574 (34,950).
Deaths: 38 (133).
Hospitalisations: 817 (817).
Usual artificially low deaths for a Sunday, and I don't think the hospitalisations figure has been updated yet from yesterday. However, new cases has, and I suspect it's pretty accurate and still going in the right direction (down from an earlier spike).
One theory for the recent increase in hospitalisations is it simply being a catch up from the previous spike in new infections, as it follows that the more new cases there are, subsequently the more hospitalisations there'll be - but the latter may take a while to show up. Therefore, if hopefully new cases continue to fall, so will hospitalisations, as one drives the other.
Anyway, as is customary now, a look back to where we were last Sunday:
Positive tests: 30,439 (30,301).
Deaths: 43 (121).
Hospitalisations: 755 (768).
So, as can see, although we've seen a recent rise in hospitalisations, the situation isn't too dissimilar from last week, and deaths remain stable. The main difference is in new cases, which in terms of reducing the influence, threat and spread of this virus, is the figure we want to see going down the most.
We'll see where we are on Tuesday.

Scandalous! Nicola Sturgeon 'instructed controversial COVID-19 cover-up' (msn.com) (https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/scandalous-nicola-sturgeon-instructed-controversial-covid-19-cover-up/ar-AAPljdD?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531)
And if only one person died at a result of this it should be treated as murder!
She's gone WAY down in my estimation recently, for various reasons. I'll continue to support Scottish independence, but not Sturgeon! Mind you. Drakeford's also dead to me now, since introducing 'Covid passes' for use in Wales, after a rather controversial vote, where it all came down to one vote, carrying the motion in favour of 'for'.
Apparently, it was all done remotely on a Zoom call, with one MP somewhat 'conveniently' claiming he had Internet problems and therefore couldn't vote, which meant the rotten-to-the-core, civil liberty eroding shite being introduced!
The claim is that these passes are only being used as a temporary measure to help keep businesses like night clubs open during the pandemic... Well, we'll see how 'temporary' they become in due course., especially when the worst effects of Covid have long since passed...
Marco.
Scottish numbers: 11 October 2021
Summary
2,297 new cases of COVID-19 reported
21,229 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
11.4% of these were positive
0 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive (noting that Register Offices are generally closed at the weekend)
56 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
933 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
4,261,124 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination and 3,864,670 have received their second dose
Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below): https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 40,224 (34,574).
Deaths: 28 (38).
Hospitalisations: 816 (817).
Not sure if there's been another spike in cases, as they've taken a significant jump upwards from yesterday, or simply a catch up from the weekend. We'll find that out tomorrow if new cases remain around the 40k mark, or go back down to nearer the 34k+ we had before.
Deaths are artificially low, of course, due to the weekend, but still generally on a downwards trend. Hospitalisations remain stable, but if would be good to see them back down at the 600-odd we had last week, or lower!
We'll see what the 'Tuesday hike' brings tomorrow.
In Wales today (with the previously recorded figures shown in brackets below):
New cases: 4,469 (5,705).
Deaths: 8 (23).
Good to see both new cases and deaths going down, but that could simply be because it's Monday and data hasn't been updated yet from the weekend. We'll see how things are tomorrow.

Interesting... I liked this quote:
"The problem is that those opposed to a lab leak scenario will always just say that we need to sample more, and absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. Scientists overall are afraid of discussing the issue of the origins due to the political situation. This leaves a small and vocal minority of biased scientists free to spread misinformation."
This cunting thing was developed in a lab and 'somehow released' into the atmosphere, of that I'm virtually certain - and I want to see whoever was responsible (by that I mean the head honchos), not some lowly lab rat(s), who simply obeyed orders, brought to justice in the *severest* way possible!!!:guns::guns:

Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below): https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 38,520 (40,224).
Deaths: 181 (28).
Hospitalisations: 766 (816).
So... Good news is that new cases haven't gone up as much as they could've and remain well below the 40K threshold. I was expecting deaths to be a little lower, but I suspect they'll come down back to around the 150 mark tomorrow. Also pleased that hospitalisations are going down again.

BBC debunks ivermectin - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zy7c_FHiEac)
Why?
This is very interesting, while YouTube is not necessarily a great source in itself, when it points directly at a deceptive BBC broadcast (or any others) it becomes very useful.
We often hear that we’re following science, but what defines science, or more importantly scientist. In the above reported debunk the lead “scientist” that’s alluded to is in fact a college student and journalist.
The quoted number of studies, studied, are never identified.
The BBC cannot be trusted to report anything truthfully, likewise Government figures, statistics, call them what you will are not trustworthy.
While you could argue that there is value in comparisons, if you compare false with false......guess what, you’re left with? Figures that are meaningless.
Now that Covid-19 is becoming less frightening, beware the Jabberwocky my son, otherwise known as bad winter ‘flu. Will we now see two figures again for Covid and ‘flu, but when added together threaten to overwhelm the NHS (remember the Nightingale hospitals, never used.) and lead us to lockdown?
Gary
Scottish numbers: 13 October 2021
Summary
2,581 new cases of COVID-19 reported
35,728 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
7.7% of these were positive
30 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
51 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19

Hi Gary,
I honestly don't think the government, or anyone else, wants another national lockdown.
Now that the vast majority of the population have been vaccinated (for *whatever purpose*, your view of which will be decided by what side of the fence you sit on in relation to 'conspiracy theories', but regardless mass vaccination was the government's goal from day 1 of vaccines being introduced during this pandemic), there would be nothing useful gained.
While you could argue that there is value in comparisons, if you compare false with false......guess what, you’re left with? Figures that are meaningless.
Indeed. Or as they also say: 'incomplete data is bad data'.
Therefore, I do believe that there will be a continued focus from the government on getting more and more people 'jabbed', whether it be boosters or otherwise, simply to continue making money for the pharma companies, ultimately pulling their strings and controlling the agenda. So half-truths or blatant lies will continue to be used in order to skew the public health figures, in whatever way best facilitates that agenda (possibly such as you've outlined) - but not to drive a lockdown.
As I've said, the goal now is to increase jabs (whether Covid or flu-related), and therefore profits for pharma companies selling the vaccines, and/or, if you're a cynic/'conspiracy theorist', injecting people with whatever is necessary (possibly laying dormant in their system, ready for activation later), to facilitate the next stage of a new world order, not to shut the country down again, as that would be counter productive.
And yes, of course, the Biased Broadcasting Corporation are full of shit as usual, totally untrustworthy and simply a mouthpiece for the 'powers that be', so will always twist things to suit their agenda. It ceased being anything useful to the public about 30 years ago.
Interesting video though that Sandro has shared, which if you didn't already believe so, adds yet more weight to the notion that the efficacy of Ivermectin is being deliberately discredited, in order to push vaccines instead for Covid.
Marco.
my info is this, from wiki.. certainly imo as good as youtubers..
Ivermectin, a medication used to treat parasitic infections, was suggested as a possible COVID-19 treatment in an online preprint which utilized a flawed statistical methodology. Importantly, the concentration of the drug that was required to achieve the antiviral effects observed in cell culture was several times higher than what can be achieved in the bloodstream of patients. Its clinical effectiveness is unproven and is still being evaluated. The highest quality evidence published so far suggests that ivermectin is ineffective at treating COVID-19. The promotion of ivermectin as a COVID-19 treatment has led to increases in ivermectin-related poison control centre calls in the United States, as well as national shortages of the drug in Australia.

Depends on who the 'YouTubers' in question are. If they're professionally qualified people, as is often the case with such material posted here, then arguably the info provided is easily as good, or if not better, than that found on Wiki.
You have to consider who controls the content of Wiki, and any biased agendas they may have, or with it being an open resource, any factual inaccuracies it may contain. That's the problem with using only one or two 'trusted' sources of info, to form your conclusions, rather than casting the net much wider, and going more on the balance of probabilities, as ultimately you don't really know WHO you can trust!;)
Marco.
Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below): https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 42,776 (38,520).
Deaths: 136 (181).
Hospitalisations: 754 (766).
So... The bad news is that cases have risen again and topped the 40K threshold, and so still up and down like a yoyo. We'll see where we are tomorrow, in that respect. The good news is that hospitalisations remain stable and appear to be heading on a downwards trend, but that could increase anytime if new infections continue to rise.
And deaths are now down at the level I'd expect will largely be the norm until the two key stats above show significant signs of improvement.
In Wales today (with the previously recorded figures shown in brackets below):
New cases: 2,266 (2,047).
Deaths: 4 (1).
So a slight rise in cases from yesterday. Hopefully that's not the sign of another spike. We'll see tomorrow.
Marco.
The new disclosures also make clear just how much AstraZeneca has foregone in electing to sell their vaccine on a non-profit basis. Moderna and Pfizer, by contrast, believe they will make $18.4 billion and $15 billion this year through their Covid-19 vaccines, despite plans to produce fewer overall doses.
https://endpts.com/astrazenecas-non-profit-vaccine-is-for-now-costing-them-money/
What vaccine have the vast majority of people in the UK had?
So it's ALL about the UK, is it?;)
That doesn't show the bigger picture, and of course presumes that the information contained in the article you've linked to is correct. What really matters, in terms of ascertaining profits made by pharma companies, is the worldwide situation, where Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have been widely used.
In that respect, the figures quoted respectively for their profits ably show the bigger picture, and also the reality!

Comparing this to post #9197 (sorry I can't put both quotes into one post), I can't tell if you think the government is trying line the pockets of big pharma, and if so, how? It's all getting a bit confusing.
And this is addressed to no one in particular: Is it just possible that if the government ditched the idea of vaccines and pushed everyone down the Ivermectin route, there would be similar resistance and suspicion? Just sayin...:sofa:
And I was one of the "few" who got the Pfizer jab, maybe somebody decided i was worth spending money on :)

Lol... ALL the world governments, not just the UK, are lining the pockets of big pharma, but the UK arguably less so, *if* the info contained in the article Martin linked to, in reference to AZ, is correct.
How? Well, in terms of the reported profits made by Pfizer and Moderna, by continually pushing jabs (and in the process buying more vaccines), of course!
I agree with your point on Ivermectin, but that doesn't negate the one I made of it possibility being deliberately discredited in order to push the vaccines, as in comparison it's a cheap drug, and so there's less money to be made from selling it. Ultimately though, it comes down to which side of the story you choose to believe!

“Flawed statistical methodology” please explain how? Not defined in the above!
“Highest quality evidence” what evidence where is this available? There certainly is evidence that I have posted earlier that as a cocktail including Ivermectin is effective!
Which “poison control centres”?
Why is there a national shortage Australia....where is the link to confirm this?

Yes, that's the problem, and certainly why it can't be cited as any more of a reliable source of fact than a YT video produced by someone such as a medical professional. The only FACT is that the content of both is potentially subject to bias and/or error.

Exactly the opposite, the Government, just possibly, suppressed the use of any treatment (or development thereof) after test diagnosis to concentrate on vaccine development.
Haven’t we always been told early treatment is more effective? So positive diagnosis by PCR and people were sent home to die, with no treatment, and it was a surprise when hospital cases rose threatening the NHS?
F**k me you couldn’t make it up, gross incomprehension and incompetence!

The evidence that Ivermectin may work is out there as I keep posting and as on that latest Dr Campbell clip
Merks has a new drug going for medical trials it will cost around $700 instead of better, scientifically documented results, achievable whit Ivermectin at around $3. Also posted on a you tube clip
The safety profile of Ivermectin is documented over 5.6 Billion doses to be much better than Ibuprofen, but no one is stopping me to get as much Ibuprofen I can over the counter.
All evidence I have seen against Ivermectin is on the same category as that BBC waste of tax payer money.

It may take times and it may be swept under the carpet as we seen again and again of late Do you remember that Fucking Useless MP that got away whit it whit a kiss?
Again how is it possible that the Vaccine was advertised 2 days after the official virus genome sequencing was carried out?
The question you have to ask is that if the virus escaped the lab how much did they know about it?
Did same one decided to cull the most vulnerable and useless part of the population? how else would you explain the throwing out of old peoples from hospital in order to free beds!
Did same one decided to promote the spread of the virus? How else would you explain the "Nike" conference?

Marco.
its a peer reviewed study. doesnt matter if bbc printed..
Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below): https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 45,066 (42,776).
Deaths: 157 (136).
Hospitalisations: 719 (754).
So... Disappointingly, new cases continue to rise. Question is: is it another spike, or as Gary suggested yesterday, Covid infections being lumped in with flu? The latter is only going to get worse as we enter winter in earnest, so there has to be a genuinely *accurate* way of differentiating between both, certainly for those who question the efficacy, in that respect, of PCR tests.
Fortunately however, the rise in new cases so far hasn't translated into increased hospitalisations, which continues on a downwards trend, but for how long if new cases continue to rise? Deaths are up slightly too, but so far only to around the level expected, given the high levels of both flu and Covid among the population.
In Wales today (with the previously recorded figures shown in brackets below):
New cases: 2,635 (2,266).
Deaths: 12 (4).
New infections also sneaking up in Wales, possibly for similar reasons.

YouTube has censored a speech that David Davis MP gave during our event in Manchester last week. Shortly after I uploaded the brilliant speech the video was taken down, claiming that it “contradicts expert consensus”…
David Davis is a civil liberties champion and his iconic speech was not only a powerful reminder of how freedom has been fundamental in defining the nation we are today, but it was meticulously researched and scientifically accurate.
He told us: “This is an outrageous attack on free speech. Throughout the pandemic, we have seen blatant attempts by Big Tech to silence opposition voices challenging the conventional wisdom. This episode serves as a further example of the worrying trend of strangling free speech.
My speech at conference was carefully researched, wholly accurate and backed up with the latest scientific evidence."
'Misinformation' my arse - more like, as was said in the article: "Blatant attempts by Big Tech to silence opposition voices challenging the conventional wisdom" - and LONG may it be rightly challenged! We will NOT be silenced!!!!:nono:
Watch the (now reinstated) video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VidUXZjzNVk

Well worth watching, as the man talks lots of sense. I would urge you all to take a look.
More power to you David - don't let the fascist bastards win!!:guns:
Marco [civil rights activist and supporter of BBW].
Great quote here, which I found on the comments below the video:
"If you have to be persuaded, reminded pressured, lied to, incentivized, coerced, bullied, socially shamed, guilt-tripped, threatened, punished and criminalized ... If all of this is considered necessary to gain your compliance -- you can be absolutely certain that what is being promoted is not in your best interest.” - Ian Watson.
How true!!!

hopefully it will shake up parliament to the difference between fee speach on subjects like passports and just towing the boris line. if tories are not careful they will remove themselves from power... although the opposition really need to get their act together rather than just jump up and down and contradict themselves
Indeed, but wee Nicola started the ball rolling by introducing these passports (read as abominations to civil liberties) in Scotland, so she's partly to blame, then Drakeford copied her in Wales, and it'll be England next!
Did you listen to what he had to say about the efficacy of double vaccination, in terms of protecting others in the venues where these passports are now required?
If not, watch it, as it's rather enlightening, and ably shows what the REAL motivation is behind their introduction!!
As for the Tories removing themselves from power, let's hope so. Trouble is, the sheeple and BJ-fanboys are too blind to see what's happening and sucked in by his supposed 'likeability' and 'charisma'....

well not really... england ; aka boris started them and got the devol ved nations on side, then at last minute pulled out leaving them red faced.. a great ploy for the tories to make snp/labour as the bad boys..
they should have dumped it too and called the buffon out

Indeed! However, it also showed Sturgeon's true colours, which certainly weren't those of a libertarian, or indeed someone I'd want to lead Scotland into independence!
Marco.
Did you watch watch the video and listen to what the MP in question (who also has a scientific background) had to say about how well the double-vaccinated are *really* protecting others?
If not mate, watch it and listen!

no i didnt. and i dont think its relevant to a point that his speech may not toe the party line but what i read in the outline wasnt that far fron a possible truth. we do have to be careful as too much nonsense is being spouted by anti vaxers(and im not including you there) . the country has to set standards as well as live by them or why should anyone bother with any of it. this is uk, not russia. people have a right to oppose things, just not the right to spout lies; that goes for all in a democratic country.
a lot of stuff spouted by online agent provocateurs and get rich quick folk needs to be controlled, but there is a line...

We're largely in agreement, but in terms of the bit highlighted, why not watch the video - what have you got to lose? You may end up being better informed.
And also, the point he makes on being vaccinated, and in reality how effectively it stops transmission of the virus to others, is well made and entirely factual, making these passports, other than a means to impose government control, a nonsense!
Marco.
i already know the basics of what he said mate. i understand it too. being vaccinated doesnt stop transmission, but reduces it greatly. nothing will stop it currently its a matter of controlling its pace really.
i understand it too. being vaccinated doesnt stop transmission, but reduces it greatly...
Not "greatly" at all, he claims as little as 50%. The problem is, all sorts of figures are being bandied about, in that respect, which are claimed as being accurate, when the fact is no-one really knows what the actual figure is, as it's impossible to predict! How can you accurately predict something that has so many variables?
But of course, that hasn't stopped them from inventing some that suits their agenda...
The main point though, is that the government's drive to introduce vaccine passports has MUCH more to do with imposing control that adversely affects our civil liberties, than on protecting public health!
And that's why their introduction must to be challenged and defeated, before their use becomes more widespread, which should be the mantra of any right-thinking person who values freedom and democracy and abhors dictatorships.

Covid U-turn as scientists revise test efficiency: 'Previous studies may be misleading' (msn.com) (https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/coronavirus/covid-u-turn-as-scientists-revise-test-efficiency-previous-studies-may-be-misleading/ar-AAPvH3Q?ocid=msedgntp)
So many holes in this particular piece of reporting it’s laughable, no detail whatsoever is covered by facts!
Gary
Over 45,000 cases of Covid in the UK today.
Not great, is it?
No, but how much of that is flu cases, naturally high at this time of the year, possibly being lumped in along with them? :hmm:
Either accidentally, due to the potential for error of PCR tests accurately differentiating between both, and therefore generating false positives? Or... The government falsely inflating the figures for reasons previously discussed?
The move to lateral flow now instead will possibly improve the efficacy of testing for Covid, so maybe then we'll get more accurate (possibly lower) figures recorded for new cases? Consider that.
What's interesting is the currently high level of new infections reported, yet comparatively few hospitalisations... That suggests that either the vaccines and new ways of treating Covid patients in hospitals is very effective, or that there exists lots of false positives artificially inflating the figures for new infections - or possibly both! We don't know.
In any case (no pun intended), as I said, *it's the flu season*, so even if those 45,000 are genuine Covid cases, how long before they're superceded by cases of flu? Do we now impose restrictions or lockdowns because of flu...?
We're heading into the winter, folks, and viruses abound, so traditionally this is a time when people become ill from all sorts of things, not just Covid. Therefore, if you've been double-jabbed, flu jabbed and boosted up to yer bollox, then all you can do is suck it up and get on with it, and don't buy into the media-created hysteria!

Where are the statistics to back up the statement “doesn’t stop transmission, but reduces it greatly” ?
Gary
375,000 new cancer patients each year.
Not great is it!
Indeed, and how many deaths are there every year from pneumonia? Not great, is it?;)
We need to put things into perspective and stop obsessing now over Covid.
Before this pandemic, how much did we focus on or take notice of stats for the number of people infected by flu, or any other disease or virus, and how busy or otherwise hospitals were? Speaking for myself, and I'm sure most others, it never entered my head!
Now the authorities and media have conditioned us to 'fret over' something that, at this stage, we simply have to manage as best we can and learn to live with. The best thing right now, for the sake of our mental health and well-being, is to forget all about Covid, and if you're fully vax'd and boosted, just get on with your life.
The only reason I post the daily stats is to keep a historical record of them, for future reference, and so that I'm aware of what's happening on a daily basis and therefore what action to expect next from our authorities!:)

I would quite agree whit you I had both jabs and I would have done much to jump in front of the que to get them early I also take a shit load of vitamins and such so I am not that scare about it
But this is not the flue or cancer.
If this thing escaped a lab we need to find out how and to punish the ones responsible and that it does no happens again
It has also put in evidence how badly we are ruled and how easy it is to limit our liberty how corrupt is the media and how all that mater is only the balance sheet for the investors.
What action would you expect by this, or any government, but spin and lies and promoting self interest?
Have you noticed where Kiss Boy the Fucking Useless one is ended up?

38% to 49% reduction
The conclusion is only indicative of likelihood percentages not definitive.
Limitation to confined households, therefore not indicative in reality.
No definition of confirmed cases, other than laboratory tests, the WHO requires medical confirmation.
It was published by NHE and all the data supplied by NHE, this alone would be cause for concern over accuracy.
No peer review that I can find.
It’s written in such a way to cause confusion as to its “real” findings.

What,
just in the UK?
Many many different forms of cancer,
So not an apples to apples comparison?
Both numbers are devastating obviously.

My own choice to smoke or not and to wear PPE properly, employer duty to inform and enforce media cover ups not as we have seen whit the Fauci virus
Government stopping cig manufacturers from selling poison or making them addictive is another bad joke

Never mind all this pish - let's see some of your latest coffee efforts, as you've gone rather quiet on that front!!:ner:;)
Marco.
Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below): https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:
Positive tests: 44,932 (45,066).
Deaths: 145 (157).
Hospitalisations: 827 (719).
So... Thankfully, new cases (for now) haven't continued to rise, but, as expected given the currently high level of new infections, hospitalisations have. Let's hope that they don't get too much higher. Deaths still remain stable and at around the level expected.
In Wales today (with the previously recorded figures shown in brackets below):
New cases: 3,130 (2,635).
Deaths: 18 (12).
Wales also reflecting the current upwards trend in new cases elsewhere in the UK. Hopefully it'll be short lived.
