might let her get the big 500 new one.. or pref the mini clubman etc.

but she will likely enjoy a test in the jeep so wait off and see how she gets one with one. mini was a thought for me as its fairly big, but i think its too low. not sure tho. the x1 looks high enough and is estate type.. volvo c40 is even dearer, and although i like it maybe too dear. not sure how much spare cash i will have to fling at it, or want to

As you know, she was looking at Minis, the Clubman in particular, but when she seen that red Jeep on The Ghost Whisperer, that was it... 'I **WANT** one of those!!!' Lol...

She wouldn't touch any Volvo with a bargepole mate, not her type of car. Or were you talking about for you?:)

Rather have the Fiat 126 than the Beetle.

Rather have anything than a Beetle. A horse and cart. A French car even.

Interesting you mention French, as she wouldn't mind a red 2CV!:D

At least the 2CV doesn't fill the cabin with exhaust fumes as part of the design. And it has a suspension system that isn't just pretend.

I think the jeep is the best choice. Cool car for a lady.

Yeah mate, I agree. It would suit her down to the ground, so we'll be taking a look when lockdown is properly over:)

Looks cool in red too, doesn't it? Ultimately she'd want it in bubble-gum pink, but there's NO way I'm having something like THAT sat on our driveway!:D:nono:

I don't know, a free clock radio would tempt me in. Providing it's in a 1970s style wood-effect finish. And the numbers are on cards that flip over, not that new-fangled LED thing.

Perhaps someone who's already on Facebook could mention it to the bloke that runs it? I heard he has a few bob in the post office, sure he could afford it.

Fair enough, I'd have one of those.

Those adverts for "over 50s" plans, the ones that come with a free radio alarm clock might look tempting for some, but knowing my luck the first night I plug it in will be the night I drop dead in my sleep :(

Lol, I don't 'do' Facebook either, or indeed any other form of social media. Del's different, she's on most of them to chat with her friends.

But (sorry, Gary) one of my pet hates is random links posted, which don't fully explain their point. Far better to outline your point first (introduce it properly) and then back it up with a link.

Don't need binoculars, I got some free ones as part of the estate of a distant cousin of Anita's (as she was the only living relative that could be found). Along with about 11 quid in coins and a very nice Canon digital camera. Not meaning to sound homophobic or ageist, but as much as Anita has tried to scrub her eyeballs with bleach, she cannot unsee the pictures her 77 year old gay cousin had left on that camera

It's way too much to go into on here, but when you have a couple of hours, have a look through their AUP. They can harvest a lot of personal data - and they're about to 'loosen' their security limits, meaning more data will be "theirs" (in their minds) and so they have the right to distribute it as they see fit.

It's why all social media is "free"; but it's far from that in reality.

Have a quick read for a brief overview (https://www.reviews.org/internet-service/what-data-does-facebook-collect/).

Seems to me to be voluntary entering into a contract. You get to use their platform to interact with other people. In exchange they profile you and sell that profile to people who want to sell you goods and services.

That's really all it is and I have no idea why anyone gets their knickers in a twist. All this 'They're harvesting your data' as though they were harvesting your soul. When in fact they just want to know stuff like what brand of chocolate digestives you buy. And whether you can afford to buy choccie biccies in the first place.

99.999% of people don't have any more interesting or useful data to harvest than that.

Sure, whatever floats your boat, but the desire to be 'liked' or your lifestyle justified or applauded in some way is what it makes it different from here, as no-one I know of here is so shallow or insecure. This whole new culture of wanting to create 'likes' or becoming 'friends' with some no-mark Internet entity, I just find not only bizarre, but deeply unhealthy and abnormal.

It's that and the penchant for mindless attention-seeking/approval by one's 'peers', which I find deeply sad, as is the fact that so many people now can't function without getting their social media 'hit', and so are glued to their phones 24/7..

Don't know about you, but much as I love this place, I don't really miss it when I'm on holiday, doing far more interesting things in the REAL world, nor do I feel compelled to receive reminder bleeps about every new post or reply I get!;)

For me, it's about using social media, or forums such as this, in a measured and logical way, as being addicted isn't healthy. Thankfully though I've never had an addictive personality, so I can enjoy many things (pastimes and hobbies), but not become addicted to, or reliant on them:)

Plus, I'm not really a creature of habit. I like being impulsive.

Hahahaha...:D

I just hate 'loose ends', and also have a bad habit of expecting the same standards from others in certain things, as I practice myself!:ner::D

Such as when someone asks me a question, always doing my best to reply, even if I think it's 'unnecessary', or if I don't wish to reply, for whatever reason, not just rudely ignoring their question - or reading someone's 'long posts' and not even having the courtesy to acknowledge them, even if on the surface a response is considered as unnecessary:ner::ner:;)

For me, all of that [and not just on here or any other forum] is the result of the dumbing down of how people communicate with each other in the modern world, and where everyone's 'too busy' to practice proper manners or etiquette, and so standards in that respect have fallen drastically.

The latter have sadly become a disposable commodity, just like everything else these days....

As far as I'm concerned it's all somebody else's problem.

I don't know how to get on the internet from abroad so I couldn't log in here when on holiday anyway. Plus it's probably cost a bomb. And I don't see any point in going on holiday just to do stuff I can do perfectly well at home. I don't even read, except on the plane.

Why shell out a thousand quid and suffer 9 hours on a plane to go somewhere completely new and different and then spend half the time I'm there in someone else's fictional world? That's never made any sense to me. I'd rather be interacting with the environment, and, to a lesser extent, the indigenous personnel.

We're on the same page bro, but look at all the idiots who can't enjoy themselves on holiday abroad without taking their phones, laptops, iPads, Kindles, Smart watches, and goodness knows what other technological paraphernalia with them on a plane, in order to 'stay connected' or entertain themselves, then moan like fuck when their chosen hotel has crap wi-fi, rendering said 'toys' as next to useless, as if it's the end of the bloody world!!

When I go on holiday abroad, unless it's by car, I take the *absolute minimum* with me (just genuine essentials, such as clothes and toiletries, etc) - 'travel light' is the order of the day, not become laden full of shite that's so easy to get lost or stolen:doh: Plus, as you say, to enjoy my new environment and interact with the locals in the REAL world!:)

For me, holidays are about 'switching off'/RELAXING, having a stress-free fun time, and being DISCONNECTED from the pressures of your working life - not simply transporting those pressures to a new environment and paying for the so-called 'privilege'...

That's just lunacy, and the total opposite of what a holiday should be about!:mental:

Ha - I'm very fast at typing (verging on secretarial speed), that is on a proper keyboard, as I've been using some form of QWERTY keyboard [typewriter or computer] regularly for years, so said sentence took seconds!

You may not know this, but I have a rather short attention span, and am also very very lazy. So if a line is too convoluted for my brain cell to cope with I often just move on to the next line. This to some may look like skim reading but it isn't really :)

Lol, well the questions that need asked, IMHO, are *why* do you have a rather short attention span (although I do recognise it as a growing issue these days, the catalyst for which is I'm not quite sure), and why not do something to improve it?

Ditto, with being "very very lazy"...

"Convoluted" is also entirely subjective. Generally, the posts I find most interesting to read are where the author has put some 'meat on the bone' (provided it's a subject I'm interested in), and is able to express themselves eloquently, so if that subsequently makes their contributions "convoluted", then so be it.

I'd far rather than than glib, poorly constructed one-line scribbles, devoid of any worthwhile content. In that respect, we should always be striving to up our game.

Trouble is, as I've already touched upon, modern technology (especially texting) has dumbed down how we communicate as humans, and that has impacted adversely on both our ability to use the English language, and our attention spans, as unfortunately we've become so accustomed to putting in the minimum of effort to get our point across...

Plus, everyone's running around like headless chickens these days, and so have no time to relax or do things properly - everything is rush, rush, rush!

<End of convoluted post>

Lol - when I mentioned eloquence, I wasn't necessarily referring to anything I'd written. I don't disagree with your points, but it's entirely subjective. What constitutes as an "overly long sentence" or an "over-long paragraph"?

If you're able to punctuate and spell correctly, then if well written, long sentences or paragraphs are not only possible, but can enhance the reading experience, simply by providing more detail.

Btw, did you mean concise?;)

Well, I guess one man's "concise" is another man's exercise in laziness! It's all relative. Personally, I prefer people who have plenty to say for themselves, and aren't afraid to say it, as opposed to the opposite.

Marco.

Yes that's what I meant. And congratulations on wording your question so concisely - you're learning! :D

In answer to your other question - I don't really have a short attention span, I was just being polite. What I really meant is I sometimes lose interest if the author takes too long to get their point across. But as you say, it's all subjective :)

Now then. what else can I talk about? Well, this morning the weather (so far) has been uncharacteristically true to that which we were forecasted via the famously unreliable BBC Weather service, which I routinely check and then ignore for the aforementioned reason, something I will continue to do as long as I have a hole in my arse, although as I type this it occurs to me that you may have no interest in this particular subject as you would simply stay in and post about cooking or something, anything that is not reliant on the Great British weather, such as it is.

I hope you found that last paragraph interesting, I bored myself shitless typing it. Especially as my laptop logged me out halfway through it and had to be re-typed :steam:

hifi_dave

I avidly watch the BBC weather forecasts on the TV, desperate to see some nice weather on the way. The local BBC weather is usually different to the national BBC weather. Similar situation with on-line BBC local weather and the Met Office forecasts where they are often completely different forecasts and both manage to get it wrong.

I got a similar surprise the other day. A letter from the NHS.

Told me that they have identified me as extremely vulnerable. And must "Shield".

Thing is, most of my neighbours, who didn't get letters, are much older and in worse shape than me.

My friends assure me the Government is just making it up as they go along.

I saw something yesterday about the Netherlands thinking about 'Nexit'. There seems to be dissatisfaction with the EU.

Agreed. The EU is more interested in giving us grief in any way possible. Even now they are misleading their members about supposed 'problems' with the Oxford vaccine.
You can lead a horse to water etc. Meantime the majority of the EU is going into lockdown and few of their people are getting vaccinated. Anyone fancy a holiday in Europe ?

I know 12 people who have had the Oxford vaccination and the only side effect has been a slightly sore arm where the needle went in. On the other hand/arm, one of our friends who was dismissive of the Oxford version had the Pfizer and was unwell for two days.

She'd look *so* much better with a more flattering hairstyle (and hair which looked like it had been brushed this century).

That's what's mainly holding her back, and if she covered up her neck more. The 'scraggy chicken sag' thing that goes on with older ladies' necks unfortunately is very aging, and easily sorted by wearing a nice scarf or tops/dresses with a higher neckline.

No worries, Sandro. Totally agree with your point on fresh porcini. No point in using them unless you're in the country of origin. As a general rule though (not talking just about porcini) I don't like mushrooms, or other similarly 'wet' toppings, on pizzas [and DON'T get me started on fucking pineapple!!], as they just make the base all soggy and floppy!

And a floppy is never any fun [as my wife often says]:D

Surprise, surprise, the EU health agency has stated that the Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine is safe and effective.

Whilst the EU politicians continue to threaten us and play dangerous games with their citizens lives, millions of doses lie unwanted in EU fridges.

struth

The suspension of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine rollout across much of Europe will likely be lifted soon.
Key points:

Four of the EU's largest nations suspended the use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine after reports of illnesses among some recipients
The pause on the vaccine has coincided with a rise in coronavirus infections in Italy, France and Germany
Health experts fear the damage done to public confidence will lead to unnecessary deaths from COVID-19

But some experts believe the damage to public confidence will be long-lasting and result in unnecessary deaths.

Fears about blood clots haven't yet been backed up by evidence, but doctors say they are likely to fuel further public concern about the vaccine at a time when Europe can ill afford it.

Countries like Italy, France and Germany are all experiencing dangerous spikes in COVID-19 cases, yet they have all paused their rollouts of the AstraZeneca product.

In Australia, the federal government says the rollout of the AstraZeneca vaccine will continue, despite the concerns in Europe.

The European Medicines Agency looks likely to endorse the safety of the vaccine on Thursday (European time).

But Anthony Harnden, deputy chair of the UK’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), said the damage was done.

"You cannot stop and start vaccination programs without losing some public confidence," he told the ABC.

"There will be many, many people in Europe, [who] feel now that the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine is second best ... which is patently untrue."
Catch up on the main COVID-19 news from March 18 with our coronavirus blog.

Professor Harnden, who is also an expert in primary care at the University of Oxford, which helped develop the vaccine, said the decision would compound mistrust in the vaccine, which some European countries previously withheld from their older populations, citing a lack of data.

"I have no doubt that Europeans have died because of some of these decisions," he said.

"If you don't get a vaccine and you're vulnerable and you're exposed to it [coronavirus], you may die as a result."
Vaccine suspension a 'disaster'
An elderly man and woman hold hands while lying in hospital beds
The AstraZeneca ban comes as Italy enters another lockdown amid a recent surge of coronavirus across the nation.(

LaPresse via AP: Cecilia Fabiano)

Cases have risen sharply in Italy, which has entered another lockdown.

On Tuesday, Italy recorded 20,396 new cases and 502 deaths.

Stefano Nava, chief of respiratory and critical care at Bologna's Sant' Orsola hospital — Italy's biggest — said the last four weeks had been "out of control".

He said the third wave had presented new challenges, which he partly blamed on the UK variant.

"The patients are younger and sometimes sicker," Professor Nava told the ABC.

When it is your turn to receive the vaccine, you will be contacted directly by the NHS. You may be contacted by either telephone or letter.

Therefore, they contact you; YOU don't contact them, so we in Wales aren't being 'invited to book' anything...;)

Well I was going by this

Can the over 50's get the vaccine now?
Anyone over the age of 50 can now sign up for their vaccine appointments via the NHS website, or alternatively people can call 119 to book their vaccine.

The NHS website's booking portal for Covid vaccine appointments can be found here.

More than two million texts and letters will be sent out to invite people for their Covid vaccines over the coming days, the Health Secretary said.

https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/health/1411292/can-over-50s-get-vaccine-now-how-to-book-coronavirus-vaccine-NHS-evg

Which doesn't mention anything about it just being England. There isn't a separate NHS for Wales like they have in Scotland. Not as far as I know anyway.

Surprise, surprise, the EU health agency has stated that the Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine is safe and effective.

Whilst the EU politicians continue to threaten us and play dangerous games with their citizens lives, millions of doses lie unwanted in EU fridges.

I have been on the phone whit Mum and Dad a few times in the past days as I told them that I was getting the jab same concerns on their part about sides effect came up

I got a call from mum yesterday and knowing it was her calling I put on a squeaky voice as if my balls (can we say balls on this forum?) dropped off
I kept that up for a while but had to give up 1 could not stop laughing 2 she was going to cry
I am not going to post the translation of my mum comments when I told her that I was joking
Funny enough my brother turned up whit her shopping as she is not allowed to go out
Normally he lives the stuff in the elevator but she managed to call him up
So, my brother is on the phone and my man vegetable (better?) drop off again keep it up again till he started getting really upset
Dropped the acct once more and me and mum (I can picture this) are roiling on the floor laughing
Any way the Vaccine thing came up and the conversation take a more serious tone
What came up
1 Britain is out of Europe so everting we do can’t be better than the rest
2 they take their time placing orders for the vaccine
So instead, then loosing face they tell peoples loads of bull
Policy in Italy is to use the vaccine for younger peoples so that they go back to work and pay taxes
They do not give a fluff about people dying of it, why should they?
they make money out of inheritance tax and save loads of it by not having to pay pensions and such
All they care about is keeping their arses (sorry can I say arses here?) on their seat’s and stash the graft on a swiss bank
The European union is not there for the people, all they care about is keeping the German banks that control big part of the founding afloat
But you all know this …
What scared me was the fact that my Brother and I agreed on politic matters
If not the first time we did I can’t remember when
What is going to happen when a few more people like him start waking up?

Thing is! same story down here
Same dude off the MOD was already winging that our armoured tanks and such are out of date day before yesterday
What you need a tank for UN should take care of that kind of poo (Can I say poo or shit in this forum?) and nurses get a 1% pay rise
Let me know if prime minister or such get their pay frozen or if they move the goal post when that time came

Yes I've got similar stories from having worked at big multinationals. A fortune spent on pointless tat but they won't employ people to answer the 'phone to customers because that costs too much.

The difference is that's the shareholders money they are squandering, not the taxpayers. You can sell your shares if you don't like the way the company is run but you can't opt out of paying tax if you think your tax money is being squandered.

Interesting that they would pick her as President given Brexit and the general dissatisfaction with the EU across Europe. She's very much a hardliner when it comes to the 'EU project':

In a 2011 interview with Der Spiegel, von der Leyen expressed her preference for "a united states of Europe – run along the lines of the federal states of Switzerland, Germany or the USA" which would capitalize on Europe's size by agreeing on core issues relating to finance, tax and economic politics.[168]

In 2015, von der Leyen argued that a form of EU army should be a long-term goal. She also said that she was convinced about the goal of a combined military force, just as she was convinced that "perhaps not my children, but then my grandchildren will experience a United States of Europe"

Odd that so many who were in favour of UK remaining in the EU were very insistent that the EU has no intentions of creating a United States of Europe or its own standing army, when the president is obviously very keen on both ideas...

Also she's clearly a bit chippy about the British in general:

Following the 2016 European Union membership referendum in the United Kingdom, she argued that the UK had "paralysed" European efforts to integrate security policy and "consistently blocked everything with the label 'Europe' on it."[172] She has described Brexit as "a burst bubble of hollow promises''.

'We Germans are not all smiles und sunshine.'

Interesting, mate. My dad had his done at his GP's surgery, and everyone else I know of around here has had the same at theirs. For me, that's the only sensible way to do it. If the goal is to encourage as many folks as possible to have a jab, then it makes sense to inconvenience people the LEAST.

What if you don't have your own transport and/or are infirm?

And the question that begs asking is if doctors' surgeries are all booked up, then WHO gets prioritised to receive the benefit of that convenience, and why should those who don't, and being forced to travel for miles, put up with being treated as second-class citizens?

Might not bother some, but that would defo bother me, so I'd only entertain going to the local GP's surgery or somewhere else in town that was easily accessible, and if necessary wait until there was a place available at those venues before being vaccinated.

Haha... If I was having one, the furthest I'd be going would be my GP's surgery [5 mins walk from my door, and which I haven't been near in 15 years]:D

I believe that's what happens when you wait to be invited for a jab, rather than chase it, in which case you end up being sent miles away..;)

Ah I see... That's a bit shite, innit? Hardly encouraging folks to have the vaccine if you have to travel for miles to some obscure location, especially if you don't have a car, like you. I presume that there isn't a bus stop or train station right outside of this 'Scout hut', so how far are you having to walk?

Fook that for a game of soldiers... For me, it'd need to be somewhere convenient for ME to get to (quickly and easily), or bollox to it.

Anyway, enjoy:)

Marco.

Listen to yourself! It's 2 bloody miles, you'd walk further than that just to kick some dead leaves round the park! :ner: which isn't exactly something that may save you from real illness or worse. Even Zafu from the Water Aid adverts walks way further for a bucket of dirty water...

Most GP surgeries won't be suitable for vaccinating at the rate needed. Also they probably don't want to clog the places with vaccinees (is that a word?) when there are still plenty of non-Covid patients needing appointments. I'm sure exceptions are being made for elderly/infirm, but this all takes time.

All in all I think it's going pretty good, though nothing is perfect.

From what I have seen it seems to be very old/infirm getting jab at our local GP. I was invited to a "sports hall" in Ipswich (about 6 miles away). Seemed perfectly fair and logical to me.
Efficient and thoughtful service allocated according to need. Just very pleased that we are out of the EU; I wouldn't expect to be invited to attend for another year or so (after another two or three lockdowns) if we were still part of it.

Even if we were still in the EU and the EU had bought loads of vaccines they'd probably still jerk us around a bit supplying them to us. All the little favourites would get theirs first. Everyone in Luxembourg would have had theirs before we got our first truckload.

For what its worth Grant, being told not to call back ( about anything by anyone) would set me off. I'd be calling them again after a week and then 5 days and then 3... Hope you get it sorted and soon.

Hahaha... Yes, but you have to see it from my point of view, in terms of having hee-haw interest in getting the thing in the first place, and so the added hassle of having to make a concerted effort to go and get it, especially, horror of horrors, if I had to mix with the unwashed masses on buses or something [if I didn't drive], as part of that process, simply reinforces my feelings!:ner::D

;)

Anyway, that's just me. My sincerest best wishes go to those who want it, get it, and hopefully gain greatly from having it:)

P.S most of the vaccinations here are occurring at GP's surgeries locally (with various age groups).

Macca

Thing is I have to get it otherwise I can't go and visit my mother. She's had the vaccine and if I've had it too it greatly reduces the chance of her getting it or getting it bad. Since she is 81 this year so it's better safe than sorry. If it wasn't for that I'd probably leave it a few months or indefinitely.

Marco
22-03-2021, 22:08
Absolutely mate, go for it, and I completely understand:)

I was just making the point that the EASIER you make it available for folks to have, the more likely they'll be to have it, and if you're at all concerned/have second thoughts about having the jab, then that 2 or 3 mile trek (or more) to some out of the way centre, hut or whatever, could just be enough to put you off the whole thing - and therefore the reality is that for some in that category, it will.

As opposed to how even fairer and more logical it would be to get it somewhere in your own town, 6 miles nearer home?;)

I could understand it (and maybe with you it is the case) if you live in a little village with no suitable facilities for undertaking vaccinations, so you have to travel to the nearest big town (or city) to get it, but otherwise you'd think that some town hall, sports centre, church or whatever in your own town could be used instead for the purpose, rather in something else six miles away?

Just seems odd to me, but there you are:)

I suppose there are only so many locations they can have limited by how many people they have to do the work. You can't just rope in people off the street to do the injections, they have to be qualified to some extent.

So you pick locations that cover areas with the most amount of people with as little overlap as possible. If you live right by the overlap, you're going to be a fair distance away.

Pigmy Pony
23-03-2021, 07:02
The venue for my first vaccination was about 200 yards away from my GP surgery, but has much better parking, and is big enough to provide large waiting area, plenty of makeshift cubicles (screens), large "recovery" areas (all enabling social distancing) and a one-way system. All staffed by people who are not needed back at the surgery.

Hope you get yours sorted soon Grant - as Steve says you perhaps need to keep on at them. The squeaky wheel that gets the oil and all that ;)

Sure, I get that. And if you're in the latter category, don't drive, or can't afford a car, thus are relying on public transport, then you could be faced with the need to use a number of buses and/or trains to get to these venues, potentially up to 10 miles away (or more?) and a long walk at the end [presuming that you are able bodied enough?] as they're unlikely all to be located on bus routes or next to train stations, along with the amount of time all of that entails.

In some cases, it could take the best part of a day to get there, get the jab, and back.

I just think that they should be utilising local GP surgeries more (as they are here in my town), especially as most of the elderly and vulnerable have now been vaccinated, thereby ensuring that trained personnel are undertaking vaccinations, and at venues nearby and convenient for those having them.

if youve no car or no access to one and are fit enough i'd say walking is by far the safest way.. outside seems to be the safest place by far. But, and im sure this will be case elsewhere, our centre is on a dual carriageway and not really suitable to walk to. That is typical of the poor orginisation, and lack of thought thats gone into sites. Im sure a better accessed place could have been found.

Hi Marco - your first response to my post had the correct scenario.
We live in a small village, our nearest GP is a couple of miles away in the next village, the GP serves several small villages on what is known as the Shotley peninsula.
So it makes sense for our GP to be offering vaccinations to the very elderly/infirm in the locality (at least that seems the case from what I saw).

I thought that going about six miles to a gym in Ipswich was fine - I am early sixties, have a car and can go "off-peak" as I am retired.

I should have explained my thinking better in my earlier post. Keep GP vaccinations for locals for whom travel may cause problems (or home visits where possible).

The gym location was perfect in my view - easy access/parking, ideal building with lots of reception area leading in to the gym with partitioned "injection points" (must have been at least ten screened bays for being inoculated. Lots of space for fast smooth flow of people.
I really am impressed with how things are being run here.

Appears to depend on which type you get.

The Pfizer seems to give little or no after effects from what I've been told by those who've had it, whereas the Oxford/AstraZeneca can leave folk a bit off colour for a few days, nothing desperately awful though. That's the one I had.

I had the Astra: noticed that I felt a bit "snuffly" about five hours after jab, also felt tired so went to bed earlier than normal (about 22.30)
Next day felt really tired and aching bit like start of flu, spent quite a lot of the day in bed - plenty of water to drink and had a few paracetamol (as per instructions :))
Fine next day; in fact felt really good.

One possibility is that I may have had the virus already (which I think that I have), so immune system was primed for the vaccine

Marco
25-03-2021, 11:16
Don't get me started on that. It's gross discrimination (comes under the same category as mandatory vaccinations) and should never be allowed in any society that purports to be truly FREE and democratic. Also, what if you don't have a smartphone, in order to utilise the proposed app?

Plus, there's no conclusive proof yet that if you've been vaccinated you're a) immune to Covid, or crucially, b) unable still to transmit the virus. It's bollox, and simply 'Big Brother' trying to impose yet more control on our lives!

In any case, if introduced, it'll cause all sorts of ructions, and riots by human rights protestors, such as we've already seen in our major cities, and which would only be the tip of the iceberg! I certainly wouldn't like to be any pub worker or publican trying to enforce this and keep those out who 'don't qualify for entry'! It'll be utter mayhem on busy weekends:doh:

Exactly, mate. How the likes of Guy can say 'Fine by me' beggars belief, as he obviously hasn't considered the wider implications of this, in terms of its potential impact on our freedoms and human rights in future, if this grossly unjust and discriminative legislation becomes reality.

Quite simply, it's fundamentally WRONG! And here's why.. From the above article:

"The idea of asking pub goers to show a vaccine certificate was raised at Wednesday's House of Commons Liaison Committee hearing, when Conservative William Wragg asked Mr Johnson if vaccine certificates were "compatible with a free society such as ours".

The answer: no they fucking aren't!! They're grossly INCOMPATIBLE.

It was mooted that it may be up to individual publicans what they do, so if introduced I'll be drinking in pubs that say a huge FUCK OFF TO VACCINE CERTIFICATES!!! :steam::finger:

And if there are protest marches in the streets about this, I'll be there!! If necessary, this needs fought and defeated, by people power, just like the poll tax.

Guy..The article says, could not would and it may be up to the publican to choose what he/she wants to do...Many people can't have a vaccine for one reason and/or another..these individuals and the people who don't want vaccinated may have to prove they have been tested and proved negative for covid, before entry....This is just the start of things to come, because more people have had the vaccine, than not, So..Anyone in this type of business, are going to want to protect these individuals in the majority, who will be their customers...Come in you are welcome..Unfortunately, It's coming and I would guess for the mean time, it's going to be part of the new normal...life's a bitch..

I'd like to also add this..Any premises has the lawful right to refuse entry to anyone, they do not need a reason ...
