At least we'll have the unvaccinated to look after us - well the ones who aren't yet dead :)

No, you get to eat us, and I'll save you the contents of my bum.

Analysis from PHE suggests a single dose of Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccines reduce your chances of catching coronavirus and then needing to go to hospital with it by about three quarters.

The effect of the vaccine does not depend on the variant: a single dose of vaccine is just as good at preventing hospitalisation for Delta as for Alpha.

Although we already know the first dose of the vaccine is slightly blunted by Delta – that’s for your chances of catching coronavirus. It looks like fewer of those Delta cases who’ve been vaccinated go on to require hospitalisation.

Among people who have received two doses of the vaccine, the chances of catching and being hospitalised by coronavirus is reduced by more than 90%. We already knew two doses were as good against Delta as they were against Alpha.

My second Oxford/AstraZeneca jab is next week. Felt a bit rough for three days after the first, small price to pay!

I'm not exactly worried about catching Covid 19 anyway, as I'd already had it in January, so my resistance to reinfection should remain high. Some say for at least six months, others suggest possibly indefinitely. Regardless of strain (so far).

I've got my second coming up a week tomorrow. Didn't have any issues from the first one except slightly sore arm for two days.

I had a slightly sore arm (around the puncture point) and felt a bit achy the next day, which is what I was expecting, but it only lasted a day. Absolutely no side effects after the second dose.

However my partner, after having the first jab, reacted quite badly: severe fatigue; dizziness; ache and only wanted to sleep. It lasted a day and a half (I had warned her it could last a couple of days), and by the evening of the second day she was back to here usual self. Apparently she reacted really badly after having a flu jab a few years ago, so she was very reluctant to have the Covid jab; given her reaction she may need some encouragement to have the second.

The main thing is, that unlike with the first or second 'waves', people aren't dying in significant numbers, thankfully quite the opposite, and that's what will make the difference this time.

As I've said many times before, once everyone's been vaccinated, who wants it, we simply have to live with Covid, much like flu, and let nature take its course!

Yeah, Seems it's largely the more resilient youngsters spreading it amongst themselves and the prevalent Delta mutation may not be so deadly.

I think the media need to stop playing up this 'waves' malarky - most people I know have already had both jabs, but a lot of folk are still keeping away from others out of fear. It's gonna take a while to get past this.

Marco

Yes I agree, although the fear factor was largely created by the media!

I'm guessing it's mostly older folks though who are scared, as everyone we know are now just getting on with their lives as best as possible, as they're fed up to the back teeth of the whole thing:rolleyes:

Most of the bad illnesses; in fact most of the cases are of unvaccinated or partially done people. If youve had both for 2 weeks or so and arent overly succeptible to dying of something like that then just sensible precautions are really all you need.
If going into places where there will be closer metting of people then wear a mask so you cant pass anything on. otherwise just dont breathe over people you dont see much etc. Kids and younger folk are main carriers at moment

i agree entirely, and as Marco says it is mostly older people who are cutting themselves off out of fear, and it is these very people who need to get out and make the most of their remaining years, not be institutionalised by prolonged isolation. It is not their family and friends that have done this, it's down to what they get from TV and radio.

That interview with Dr. Malone raised legitimate concerns about long-term side effects from vaccines, especially to the ovaries and bone marrow, and he should know.

I get a bit fed up with everything Covid related. Just all worries me to bits. But there is no alternative to vaccination IMO. If we are ever to get back to normal socialising. Hopefully in a month things will improve. At least we can now gather at the beach for socially distanced exercise like swimming and TaiChi in groups of 30. My health deteriorated dramatically in lockdown, and I got fed up with walks on the common. And my mental health has suffered too. I feel like there is nothing good going on in my life.

I too am fed up with it all. The wealth of contradictory information and ridiculous restrictions drive me mad. What I do know is that I haven't had the vaccine and I feel fine. I visit dozens of clients a week and they're all fine too (aside from one paranoid barn pot who is her village's resident hypochondriac).

MHRA reply to my email keep saying not to take it and why he does not mention it?
Is withholding information endemic in the system?

Subject: CSC 54742 Ivermectin and covid 19

Dearxxxxxxxxxxx,

Thank you for your email.

For any medicine to be marketed in the UK, the product needs a licence and the applicant (company) must submit a marketing authorisation application that includes clear evidence for positive benefit risk in respect of safety, efficacy and quality. In the UK, ivermectin is not licensed for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19 as thus far robust evidence of its efficacy and safety have not been made available for evaluation by MHRA or its expert advisory groups.

Please note that the WHO has recently issued a Guidance note advising that ivermectin is only to be used to treat COVID-19 within clinical trials. Please see link: WHO: Ivermectin should only-be-used-to-treat-covid-19-within-clinical-trials (https://www.who.int/news-room/feature-stories/detail/who-advises-that-ivermectin-only-be-used-to-treat-covid-19-within-clinical-trials). There is an ongoing clinical trial in the UK that is evaluating ivermectin in COVID-19 and when adequate, robust evidence of its efficacy and safety is available, it would be possible to authorise it. The FDA has also recently advised that they had not reviewed data to support use of ivermectin in COVID-19 patients to treat or to prevent COVID-19. Taking a drug for an unapproved use can be very dangerous: Why You Should Not Use Ivermectin to Treat or Prevent COVID-19 | FDA (https://www.fda.gov/consumers/consumer-updates/why-you-should-not-use-ivermectin-treat-or-prevent-covid-19) Likewise, the EMA: EMA advises against use of ivermectin for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19 outside randomised clinical trials | European Medicines Agency (europa.eu) (https://www.ema.europa.eu/en/news/ema-advises-against-use-ivermectin-prevention-treatment-covid-19-outside-randomised-clinical-trials)

The MHRA, together with independent advisory groups, continues to review the emerging body of evidence regarding potential medicines for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19.

Kind regards,

Ella

Ivermectin is no longer covered by a patent, they only last for 15 years, so pharmaceutical companies do not have any reason to sponsor a study one is ongoing in the UK how long is it going to take?

I presume you've pre-booked it, Geoff, and so it's not simply a drop in?

If so, hopefully you won't have to wait in some ridiculously long, non-socially distanced queue (which with timed appointments shouldn't exist in the first place) to get it:)

Anyway, hopefully you'll have no bad side-effects, which I don't thnk you did with the first one?

I'm sure that I read somewhere that there will be a third "booster" required later in the year (just can't remember where I saw that).

Like you I will have a flu jab this winter. I never bothered before, but from now on it is "belt and braces" as far as vaccinations are concerned, if some agency decides to include a tracking device in the injection, then bloody good luck to them - I can't imagine anything less gratifying than scrutinising my movements :booty:

As for queues, I've seen plenty with pre-booking at vax centres, and everyone was all jumbled up together in a line with zero 'social distancing'

Thing is, there shouldn't be any queues with *strictly timed* appointments! You arrive at the door of the centre at precisely the scheduled time, not hanging around outside it half an hour before(!) and you're taken at EXACTLY that time, as is the next person, and so on and so forth...

If everything runs properly, and folk do what they're supposed to do, there should be no queues!!

Well I have a fair distance to travel for mine so even if there is a queue I'll wait in it,

Only takes 30 seconds to do each person and there's more than one person administering the jabs so even a long queue won't take long to work through.

It's not like a queue in the supermarket or for the cashpoint where fuckers can arse about endlessly, you're just in and out.

it's really nothing to have to put up with, people are way too soft these days. What's ten minutes in a queue compared to dying a horrible, early death?

We're very lucky to live in this country and not some shithole where they'd happily walk for ten days to get a vaccine - if there was even one available to them.

Marco
23-06-2021, 14:13
Lol, I totally get where you're coming from, but for me it wasn't necessary for it to have been done that way, and the lack of consideration by those who organised it, for those having it, would've stuck in my throat. I'm simply not used to being rather anonymously or discourteously treated 'like a number'/part of a herd, but instead with a little more respect. Sorry.

In Wrexham, for example, all the vax points are within easy reach of the town centre. No-one was made to go to the back of beyond to get their 'jab'.

If I'd accepted mine, it would've involved a 3-min trip in the car, that is if vaccinations weren't also being carried out at local GP surgeries (far more civilised) - and precisely as it should have been everywhere else, especially in a city the size of Stoke!:ner:;)

In fairness if I had a car it's about a ten minute drive, it's hardly asking much. You can't expect them to open one at the end of every street.

Due to the nature of the virus they can't use most surgeries as they are too small.

Plus I've always got the option of just not bothering to have it. If it was compulsory then I think you'd have a point.

In normal circumstances you have to wait even if you have an appointment. I've had the second slot of the day at the dentists, still had to wait 15 minutes past that time to be seen.

Opticians last month, ten minutes past the appointment time before I was seen - and that's a business!

Try going up to A&E to get stitches and a tetanus jab, you be lucky if they see you inside an hour.

Sometimes you just have to wait your turn, there's no use getting stressed about it.

Del puts up with all sorts of cack, in that respect, I'd do my nut over, such as collecting sick notes (for her work) from the local surgery, which the doctor has 'inadvertently forgotten' to sign, thus another trip is needed to return and collect the signed sick note, prescriptions not being ready for collection, despite being told they are, and subsequently having to wait in a queue to get them - all sorts of pish!

I have a rather low-tolerance threshold for sheer incompetence, so just couldn't be doing with that sort of grief:nono:

20 miles is crazy. I could understand that if you were up in the Highlands were everything is so spread out.

Mind you for lot of these oldies it's just something to pass the time. I used to have to get bus right across town to get to work, shift starts 1000, I be at the stop for 0900 and the buses would sail past, not stopping because packed full of pensioners.

They'd all been up since 0500, done as much pottering about the house as physically possible, so then it's on the bus into town to mill about there for a couple of hours. Meanwhile I'm late for work.

A good chuck were going to have to use several buses.

Nice one. However, this is my point... Why wasn't the above offered as a venue for your jab in the first place?

The organisers of this thing should have a list of *every* available place where you can receive the vaccine, in relation to where you live (as they obviously have your address), and subject to a predetermined amount of places available, give you the option of an appointment at that venue.

Not send everyone to the same place, just because it's big enough to 'house the herd', simply because it's easier for them, but possibly not very convenient for you!

Far more thought needs put into these things, so that the exercise is performed as efficiently and quickly as possible, with minimal hassle factor for those being vaccinated, as many folks have more important things to do than stand waiting in queues, or worse sent to bloody Timbuktu to have it!

Now I'm waiting to see if I feel shitty in a while. I did last time! If I do, I'll medicate myself with some beer:)

The man who tested positive for Covid 43 times

Scientists are studying the case of a man in Bristol who has recovered from 290 days being positive with SARS-CoV-2.

Dave, 72, is a driving instructor and musician who's spent the last 10 months with an active coronavirus infection, visiting hospital seven times. His immune system was vulnerable to the virus after a leukaemia diagnosis and chemotherapy treatment.

Dave was eventually treated with a new mixture of anti-viral drugs provided by the US company Regeneron on compassionate grounds.

Now scientists at the University of Bristol are studying Dave's case to try and understand how Covid acts and mutates within the body.

Must be some sort of record...

Oh sure, but you don't know if (or for how long) they had to queue to get their jab, simply that they've been jabbed.

I'm not saying that the process should be 'problem free', which given the scale of the job concerned would be unrealistic, but I think they should have put more thought into where folks were sent to be vaccinated, in terms of making it as easy and convenient for them as possible.

Being sent 20 miles away, as Grant stated earlier, is utterly ridiculous (and I'm sure there are plenty more instances of such that have occurred elsewhere in the country), or even circumstances where you have to walk for miles, or get umpteen buses to reach vaccination points, if you don't drive.

With a bit more thought and better organisation, none of that would be necessary outwith of the most remote locations.

Yes that is a terrible lack of organisation, I'll give you that, and the way Grant has been treated (or not) is deplorable. Perhaps wee Nicola can be thanked for some of that. But I can only speak of what I have personally experienced, and of the many people I know who have had both jabs I have heard exactly ZERO complaints about queues. In fact the only comment on this 'problem' I've heard has come from yourself, and you haven't even been for one :D

But even if I'd had to queue I would have as I see it as quite important, whereas I did once leave a restaurant after waiting half an hour for my meal, so I'm not the most patient person

Marco
24-06-2021, 22:46
That's fine, from your point of view. Obviously, as I'm anti-having any of these particular vaccines, I wouldn't consider queuing up to have them as important, more like steering well clear!;)

I can't dispute your experiences, in terms of queues, but I've dropped off a few friends at local vaccination points (some not so local) who don't have cars or simply don't drive, and noticed pretty long queues at centres that were supposed to facilitate *strictly timed* appointments, so that forms my experience of the matter, as well as having spoken with others who've experienced the same.

In that respect, therefore, it would be interesting to conduct a poll of people from all around the UK, in reference to queues outside of vax centres, where they weren't simply doing drop-ins, and how far they had to travel to get there, in order to assess what the consensus of opinion was:)

I agree, anecdotal 'evidence' won't necessarily be accurate. A poll is needed for that. Be interesting to see if there are regional variations (it appears from some posts that Wales and Scotland have shaped up less well). Then we can name and shame the bad 'uns and give the good 'uns a pat on the back.

It does occur to me that maybe the appointments are timed a bit tight, as the organisers would rather risk possible queues than have potential slack periods. I still maintain though that our vaccination rates are pretty damn good and at the end of the day that's what we need.

Correction about Ivermectin
I have just seen this
Best ivermectin meta analysis - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3j7am9kjMrk)

Ivermectin cost $2.90 for 100 12 mg tablets
following what was done in Mexico, 4 tablets given to any one having a Fauci virus test , you can look at the curves there, 25 people can be treated for for $2.90
The paper was published on the 17th June
It is a meta study and it is peer reviewed

Bottom line it would indicate that it reduces death by 62% and reduce transmission by 86%

Reduce transmission by 86% would mean that the Ro number go below 1 and the Fauci virus is defeated

I don't know what the arrangements are for the infirm but I assume there must be some and that they must work, since if that wasn't the case the media would be full of stories about old grannies who can't get the jab and so on. think they vary across the nations. many were done by doctors and nurses either in the practice of in home. but like all these 'general' arrangements , they dont fit all, and many scenarios were not thought of initially. then you have the fact that many of the companies that do the appointments like ours were not nhs but private companies. Its not always a good mix.

How many people vaccinated now? 70 million or doses rather suggests that the rollout has been very well organised.

Certainly here, in sunny Weymouth, it has been well organised with volunteers helping the doctors and nurses at two vaccination centres, at the local hospital and at the Pavilion Theatre.

No queues as there are 10-minute slots, with an average of 25 people per slot, and invites are by text message.

Of course reports of people queuing (exaggerated as they always are) for hours is not good, but on balance I think the NHS has done very well.

I've had both Covid-19 jabs. I've also had a pneumonia vaccine as well, which in terms of side affects, was far worse than anything from the Covid vaccine I received (Astra Zeneca), which left me with an upset digestive system. However, as I've had an 'Ivor Lewis' for oesophageal cancer and previously a Hartmanns for a perforated bowel, with a colostomy (reversed at 18 months), this was no surprise for me at all.

I'm surprised that those who enjoy good health would refuse the vaccine as it's an obvious benefit for all.

I consider these little life-saving ''pricks'' as essential for us all to get back to some form of normality.

Take care all. :)

Small pilot studies show that early administration with ivermectin can reduce viral load and the duration of symptoms in some patients with mild COVID-19. Even though ivermectin is used routinely in some countries to treat COVID-19, there is little evidence from large-scale randomised controlled trials to demonstrate that it can speed up recovery from the illness or reduce hospital admission.

This was taken in Feb (largely because of idiots arriving early): https://www.wrexham.com/news/dont-arrive-early-for-vaccination-booking-to-help-avoid-queues-outside-centres-says-health-minister-200071.html

That's my local surgery, btw, and queues went all the way round the back of the building. And I've seen loads of stuff like that around here recently, and much longer queues!

watched the first five minutes then skipped through the rest. You can tell he's a nutter in the first 60 seconds. They should have nicked him for wasting police time.

Exactly how - are you a trained psychiatrist?

That's just meaningless rhetoric. I think Boris Johnson's a nutter. Anyone can call someone a nutter without any proper proof. Therefore, your claims of him being a nutter are no more substantiated than mine, in reference to blowjob-boy.

Show me some evidence, based on what you consider as the truth (backed up by links), which categorically refutes what the ex-police officer has said.

Btw, I'm not saying you're wrong. Just asking you to put some 'meat on the bone', on your arguments, as you often tell others to do:)

There's a certain type of person, I've dealt with them hundreds of times, you can tell if they're one as soon as they open their mouths and start talking.

Think of 'Lister' from Vic Reeve's Big Night Out. Everyone knows one. Take themselves incredibly seriously and have absolutely no idea how the world actually works.

The best thing to do with them is humour them and get rid of them as quickly as you can, which is what the copper in the video does.

I would only be repeating what I've said in this thread previously. No-one disputes that it is possible to have side-effects from the vaccines. The odds of those side effects being fatal are orders of magnitude less than the odds of catching the virus and dying. His spiel about the PCR tests being 'contaminated' is just idiocy.

Do you really think that if there was any issue along the lines of what he is saying that every qualified medical person in the UK would not be taking this issue up? Instead they are all having the vaccine. If you don't believe me, and that's fair enough, go and ask some doctors, ask your GP, see what they say.

Marco
26-06-2021, 12:52
I didn't say that I didn't believe you; I simply asked you to publish proof that refutes his claims, which you still haven't done.

I'm not entirely unsympathetic to your views, btw, and indeed in some ways agree (especially in relation to his claims about PCR tests), but I still believe that there are many side effects with these vaccines that are real, but haven't been properly reported, especially in relation to female fertility, and which will surface in due course.

Well if they do surface then you'll be right and I'll say so. Seriously though, have you spoken to your vet and asked his advice about whether you should have the vaccine or not?

I have a couple of cousins who are doctors, one is a senior consultant, can't recall what the other is. I can guarantee you that if they thought there was anything dodgy about the vaccines or the tests they would have been on to the whole family right away. Instead they made sure their mothers were vaccinated right from the off.

Marco
26-06-2021, 13:24
Vet? Lol... Erm, no. It would be rather like asking Gennaro Contaldo [a renowned Italian chef] if he thinks I should put fresh parmesan, or grated stuff out of a tub, on my pasta - i.e. the answer would be a forgone conclusion.

My point being that the answer to that question would for any real foodie be as predictable as asking a doctor whether I should have a vaccine for Covid!

Doesn't mean though that his advice would be correct for ME. I'm sure he'd also recommend having a flu jab, despite the fact that I've not had flu for about 10 years, or even so much as a cold for the last 5 years.

Remember that Del got Covid, and despite me living with her 24/7 during lockdown, including us both sleeping closely together and breathing in the same air at night in bed, I got hee-haw.

Plus I've been out and about 100s of times during the last 18 months, in or out of lockdown, either shopping, to church or many other places, cinemas, pubs and restaurants, not just in Wrexham, but York, Leeds, Liverpool, Chester and elsewhere, mixing with friends and family (of course only when allowed), and still caught hee-haw.

I guess I'm just a catchy hee-haw kinda guy!

I don' think I've even had a cold in the last ten years but that's no guarantee of anything. People a lot younger than me and no doubt in much better physical condition have caught it and died. Plus if I've got to go and see my mother and other elderly relatives I want to make sure the risk of passing anything on to them is minimised. That was my main motivator in having it.

Otherwise I probably wouldn't have bothered. Not because I think there's any real risk from the vaccine but just because I'm a fatalist - and bone idle.

Plus it does say in the article that the reason there's a queue is because they're all turning up half an hour early. Look at the pic, they're all oldies. It's a day out for them, they couldn't wait to get going.

That's all fair enough. I was simply making a point based on the question you posed.

I of course have other valid (to me) reasons for not being jabbed, despite seeing my dad (who's 88) almost every day. Do you think I'd do that if I had any real concerns?

He's also someone who rarely gets colds (don't think I've ever seen him with flu), and who even at his age takes almost no pills for anything. My granddad (who lived until he was 92) was the same. It's just good genes mate, originating from a healthy diet and lifestyle, and with it a naturally strong and healthy immune system:)

I did highlight the coming early bit, and that's been the problem, certainly around here. Plus when dropping off friends at local vax centres (as stated earlier), the age demographic was considerably younger than shown in the link, as the friends in question were in their 40s, and so the appointments were for all those the same age..

Didn't stop long queues sometimes forming outside, though!

Indeed, but that's not what's currently being discussed. I'm talking about problems with queues forming because folks are turning up early, or for whatever other reason, and that picture also supports my argument. The surgery in question, btw, is very large and indeed one of the biggest in Wrexham, with many thousands of patients on their books.

In any case, surgeries might have fitted the purpose if folks had turned up when they should've done!;)

I watched half of it but then stopped. I understand what he says, but there are dozens of products which contain harmful substances to humans which are readily available. To name a few...

Alcohol
Cigarettes
Caffeine
Ibuprofen
Paracetamol

There's no obligation to buy any of the above, but people do and happily consume them knowing that there's the potential of damage.

The vaccine isn't obligatory so if people don't want it, they don't have to have it. But, and this is a critical element, ALL vaccines contain substances harmful to humans - they contain the virus or disease that they intend to prevent.

He washes away a significant amount of credibility when he states that it's a terrorist attack. Nonsense in my opinion. Rushed research or mix error at worst. Also, whilst he has a couple of letters to his armoury, he quotes no strong scientific or medical evidence that the quantities involved are actually potentially damaging, just suppositions that they may be.

To me it sounds like a case of someone who's retired (or getting that way), has a huge amount of time on his hands and is looking to be a hero. If he's so concerned with human life then he could look at far better options to help 'life' given his position of authority.

But the police really don't have interest in that as it's way too much like hard work. They'd rather do easy target work like standing in hedges with speed cameras trying to catch those going 3mph over the speed limit. Easy money.

If he was a scientist or medical professional with a proven background, then I'd be much more likely to believe that what he says is of a genuine concern.

My opinion of course. I may be wrong. I'm not going to have the vaccine anyway. :D

Sure, and most folks wouldn't.

I just figured that since my dad hadn't caught the virus before he was vaccinated (and now since), despite for many months beforehand getting out and about like me (going shopping, to church, etc - and no he's not a fan of home grocery deliveries and wasn't hiding away like a lot of old folks), and with me not getting Covid, the benefits of being able to look after him and seeing each other regularly, so that he wasn't isolated or lonely, for us outweighed the risks.

It's something we thought long and hard about, and now certainly don't regret:)

Indeed, which is why I'll often suffer very bad headaches (verging on migraines), on the rare occasions I get them, rather than take any paracetamol.

I'm just not a 'pill popper', and hate filling my body full of chemicals, or anything that's not designed to be there, which includes these new Covid vaccines, and which I don't believe are quite as safe as they're purported to be.

I have visions of small businesses who geared up to churn out millions of face-masks suddenly going broke.

Oh don't worry, the painfully shy 'woke brigade', who like to hide from folk or 'keep their face warm', and the ridiculously overcautious, will still want to wear the bloody things!

Similar to the 'Hood Maker' by Philip K. Dick - a hood that blocks telepaths from reading the wearer's mind.

I recently saw someone wearing a mask printed with a photograph of his own face. It was very effective; from a distance of a couple of metres it looked like he wasn't wearing a mask at all. :)

My partner made me two masks, which I only wear when in a shop. As soon as I can I remove it, as my glasses steam up and my nose start to run. For that reason I avoid shopping malls when you have to wear one all the time, as well as comply with the 'one way' system.

I'm not keen on them either. I suppose they're OK once you're familiar with them or can be bothered to memorise any (ever changing) floorplan they may display, but I don't do much shopping anyway.

Years ago I used to go to the mall once a month to buy CDs in HMV, get hi-fi mags from the WH Smith, and there was a big food court with a Burger King so I'd have a burger before heading home. Stopped buying the mags and the HMV closed so that pretty much killed that.

Last time I was in there was about ten years ago to get something or other, went to get a burger and found they'd got rid of the food court too.

We visited EE in the Brent Cross shopping centre, Hendon, to look for a new phone/contract for my partner. They couldn't have been more helpful: she wanted a new phone, but couldn't afford any they had on offer, so they suggested we visit John Lewis located in the same shopping mall and buy a Samsung A12 for £150, come back and they would install the chip and update the contract.

This was in complete contrast to the EE store in Kilburn where they prevaricated and were most unhelpful, more or less causing us to put off for a year now, what the Brent Cross store did in a matter of an hour.

Worth the time suffering wearing a face mask.

If it's this, it's not the same thing as the previous 'vaccine passports' that were being proposed: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/covid-pass/

Only of relevance for attending large events (where a Covid pass is being trialled) or travelling abroad, not as was first being suggested for going to shops, pubs, restaurants, etc in the UK.

Good effort by Big Brother Watch, well done, but I suspect the Govt came to see the Covid passports idea as a vote loser anyway... and with majority of population either vaccinated or previously infected, they probably feel that the NHS can cope with the stragglers. Putting a lot of faith in the jabs, i hope they're right.

Anyway, less than two weeks to 'freedom day', hopefully for good :)

Anyway, less than two weeks to 'freedom day', hopefully for good :)Maybe look at this Guardian article - https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/video/2021/jul/05/chris-whitty-says-keeping-covid-restrictions-will-only-delay-next-wave-video

Apparently delaying relaxation of restrictions would most likely "simply" would have shifted (i.e. delayed) when people become ill or even die. The dates chosen for the currently proposed relaxation have taken into account the likely load on the NHS in the autumn, going into winter.

So if you (selfishly??) postpone dying for a few months in order to save the NHS you're not playing the game!

Realistically, and hopefully, most people will evaluate the ongoing situation and take steps which will minimise their own risks, and risks to others - though as we have noted, there are many who are unable or unwilling to do that.

As soon as it's no longer a requirement in Wales (or England) to wear face coverings, as we're so near here to the English border, I'll be ditching them and only wearing one out of courtesy, if in the company/close proximity of someone, say the owner of a small shop or whatever, who's informed me that they'd feel uncomfortable otherwise.

We know that a good immune system reduces the risk of more serious consequences
We know that vitamin D is highly beneficial
We also know/ suspect that small doses (4 X 3mg) tablets can be a very good prophylactic and that it reduces viral load
But the media and government keep being silent about it
We need to get this out on the main stream media, the Government never will as they do not care at all for the ones that are going to suffer as long as they make money by Graft, inheritance tax, and pensions not getting paid to dead peoples.

And this does not take in to account all the other victims suffering for other illnesses that can not get treatment because the hospital is full

Long Covid (as opposed to just deaths) in younger folks is a genuine concern.

Aside that,
This, and ncreased non-death hospitilisations all have a knock on effect on NHS capacity, which is serious.
Increased waiting list times, cancelled operations and treatment...etc.

It all matters, not just number of people dying from Covid imo which, given the uncertainty going forward after July 19th in England,...I'd say no-one truthfully could predict.

But as long as Boris and his Chums can rely on good old British common sense it'll all be fine.

I fully agree with that Gaz, and all you've written above (my wife's still suffering from some effects of long Covid), but my point is, unless people start dying again in large numbers [and let's pray that doesn't happen, *if* the vaccines are truly effective], it won't justify a further lockdown.

As for the pics you've posted of the behaviour of some low-life scum, that will never change, Covid or no Covid, but I guess we just have to learn to live with both, as neither are going away anytime soon!

So that's an excuse for leaving the place like a midden? Don't know about you mate, but I was brought up not to drop litter, and if there wasn't a bin handy, to take my rubbish home.

You can't expect others to provide every necessary facility for you in a public space. And yes, Glasto's also often left like a filthy midden by lazy and inconsiderate slobs, and equally inexcusable, which is why I wouldn't go near it with a bargepole.

Is dropping litter on beaches, having a shit in the sand or abandoning your kid's soiled nappies, also understandable, if the authorities haven't provided what you consider as 'adequate facilities'? If YOU create mess/rubbish, of ANY description, in any public space, then YOU (no-one else) are responsible for it, and therefore to tidy it up - simples!!

As I've said before, if I seen them I'd pick up all their dog's shit and put it in a bag, follow the cunts home, and empty it on their front lawn - or if they didn't have one, pop it through their letter box!!:trust:

The local authorities are not your unpaid skivvies.
