I didn't follow Karl Mullis precisely to the end of his musings.

After about 5 seconds I was convinced he was Mad as a box of Frogs.

Get your Jab.

So what sort are you then, and what exactly are you trying to say, if your trying to say that your from the smart camp, you know; the one that does no real research, and completey rely on the words of those in positions of power who have lied to us, time after time in the past, good luck with that!
One last ditch attempt, here's Karl Mullis, you know, the original inventor of the PCR test, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTWN_PJ8t2o

The guys name is Kary Mullis...or are you confusing him with Karl Popper??..The PCR test is about as much use as a chocolate Kettle..although I do agree with Kary's opinion of Fauci

No comment, apart from the fact that they are still using this Mad as a bucket of frogs [Stevens words not mine] PCR test as the main tool for shutting us all in our houses and frightening many wittless to the point that they will accept anything in the hope that it will allow them to get back to the life they had before all this came about.

When it comes to matters of Life and Death, I get serious. I know this Science stuff.

No way I am spending time on the Crazies like Karl or Kary Mullis:

Man has Crazy Eyes. Should be institutionalised, IMO.

Simple stuff really. Thing is, the Crazies threaten my Life. And yours.

If you had followed the link Alan put up, you would know that he died in 2019, as for the rest of your comments, lets not go there, unless your prepared to read some informative material from the Crazies, i guess not...

I’m sure you are confident in your “Science Stuff” when was your Nobel Prize awarded? I only have my common sense to decide how logical threats are using all sources available equally.

There are many Crazies around that threaten us, Main Stream Media belief generally responsible, and in the UK the Government seems to have its abundance of Butterfly decision makers creating Chaos!

Interesting research.

Interesting indeed... sounds like face shields won't be helpful in this respect tho.

I've got a date for my first vaccination yesterday - 24rd February. Sooner than I was expecting :yay:

I thought Anita would have got in before me due to her health conditions, so it looks like age is the overriding factor (I'm 63, she's 52). But if my understanding that vaccinated folk are less likely to transmit is true, then that can only reduce her risk to some degree. And I'm betting her date will only be days away.

Kinda flawed research when the masks are modified to ensure they are air tight, so not real day to day, ready available masks.
The box material is not explained just “metal”. The size of the box would be relevant but not disclosed. The temperature differential between the inside and outside the box is not declared.
Assumptions are made about what’s happening to the condensate without actual measurements.
There are no real conclusions but suggestions of possible outcomes.

Funding for this organisation is not transparent currently.

Yes that all occurred to me too.

if masks worked in the real world we wouldn't have had a second wave like we did and wouldn't be in lockdown now.

A year on (thereabouts) with Coronavirus here, we are still in a situation where the are no solid 'facts'. What has been established is a rather changeable best practice under the circumstances we find ourselves in. Even informed comment about the disease and its handling is still vague and sprinkled with words like 'probably', 'likely' and 'maybe', so the situation remains fluid. I think things are mostly being handled as best can be, but I do feel an opportunity was missed by not having a longer and utterly rigid first lockdown which should have also blocked arrivals from abroad.

I keep reading this everywhere about stopping people coming into the country but it really is impossible. UK isn't some backwater like New Zealand where hardly anyone needs to go to or wants to go to.

UK is pretty much the centre of the world and London is the world capital. Millions of people come and go in the space of a week. You can't realistically put a stop to that until the time the entire world population is vaccinated and the virus gone as that is going to take years yet.

Nobody ever said that masks are the solution, just that they are better than nothing. And different masks vary in their effectiveness no doubt, otherwise hospital staff could get by with the crap Mr Joe Average wears to do his Lidl shop.

Any number of reasons why we are in lockdown now - visitors from overseas, Christmas gatherings, multi-generation families where younger generations aren't complying, government guidelines which come too late, not severe enough, too vague, many many other things we can blame.

The only way I can see masks contributing to the 'second spike' is by giving people a false sense of security and making them a bit more lax about social distancing... sorry Martin, I bet that's what you were getting at. Actually with that in mind, I'm moving over to an 'anti masks' view

No doubt about that. I bought one for a quid, stick it on just before I go in the shop, take it off as soon as I come out. For compliance, nothing more as I'm quite confident it does jack shit to protect me or anyone else. No intention of washing it or buying another unless it falls apart or I lose it. How many people doing the same as me? I'd guess most.

The old lady who runs the shop just pulls her shawl up over her face when serving people.

Does make me laugh when you see people driving in their cars alone with their pound shop face mask still on. Do they think they can catch covid off the car?

Well we are expected to make do with online communication in pretty much everything we do, so why can't people wanting to enter Britain do the same? It's not like they're coming over to build hospitals or mend roads is it?

Don't know how easy it would be to police though, we can't even keep folk from crossing the Channel in their bath tubs.

I don't know how many of those incoming journeys are essential but I'd guess it is more than we'd think. Like still a couple of million a year. You can't do everything remotely. And what about haulage and so forth, how many lorries come and go every day? Must be in the thousands, and you can't stop that or we all starve.

In the case of lorries entering and leaving Britain, for the last few weeks there has been a gantry sign on M6 near us telling lorry drivers that a Covid-19 testing station is at Charnock Richard services - I assume there is similar on the other side of the channel.

I know the risk can't be eliminated, but could be considerably reduced. As my mate down the Tesco likes to say, every little helps.

The News In Brief:

A Politician said something.
A Celebrity said something.
A Tidal wave/earthquake/volcano/train wreck/pick your own disaster - has happened somewhere in the world and lots of people you don't know have died.
Ethnic minorities/the disabled/women/'young people'/pick your own minority group - are still being discriminated against.
Someone you don't know was stabbed.
Climate change (BBC and Chan 4 only) is much worse than we think - again.
The economy is predicted to go up/go down/stay the same.
Some fat bastard broke curfew to go get a dozen big macs
It's still kicking off in the Middle East.
And finally 'The Weather' - more information about something you have zero control over.

To be fair buddy, I don't imagine things have changed that much for you. You can still watch films, play music, cook stuff and eat it. You may be required to shop closer to home, and certain boutiques will have been closed to you (but believe me, Ann Summers will be suffering more from your absence than you ;)

There are others who are being affected really badly, and in the absence of Things We're Allowed To Do it's a topic at the forefront of most people's minds. That and the (hopefully imminent) Marco "Glad that shit is over" barbeque :)

Ha - of course, and yes compared to many we're lucky.

So don't disagree with much of that, but we normally travel around the place, to Chester, Liverpool, Manchester, Shrewsbury [Del wants some new dresses for work from her fav boutique there], and for other shopping and stuff, plus also around rural England and Wales for nice pub lunches - and all sorts.

All of that is required for in order for a bon vivant to function!:ner:

I know what you mean about subscribing to that nonsense, but I just use it as another excuse to spoil her [and in fairness, she doesn't try too hard to stop me, lol], so the pleasure of that is worth it, especially if she models something new that's silky and slinky, which I defo won't fit into!:eyebrows::lol:

Probably because if you damage yourself, an ambulance might be needed which will expose the Paramedics to a patient who or may not be contagious. It also puts extra strain on the Hospitals when they least need it.

Same reason with needless long car journeys and people skiing, sledging etc in the snow etc.

What, than crossing a road in a busy town centre, with the maniacs around these days, or even driving in a car to the same destination.? I'm not sure the data backs that up.

And of course what qualifies as "essential" is often subjective, and therefore open to interpretation...

What's more 'essential': some track-suited chav making umpteen trips to Farmfoods, to buy oven chips, (and in the process in contact with many others and potentially spreading the virus), or Alan alone in the sky, enjoying his hobby in the fresh air, in good conditions, as an experienced flyer, almost certainly harming no-one, including himself, and in turn improving his sense of well-being and mental health, as a result of the stress of having had his freedoms forcibly removed for nearly a year?;)

Just taken from NHS website.

“How effective is the COVID-19 vaccine?

The 1st dose of the COVID-19 vaccine should give you good protection from coronavirus. But you need to have the 2 doses of the vaccine to give you longer lasting protection.

There is a chance you might still get or spread coronavirus even if you have the vaccine.

This means it is important to:

continue to follow social distancing guidance
if you can, wear something that covers your nose and mouth in places where it's hard to stay away from other people”.

Is this the beginning of vaccination passport?

Reading the above the implication is “ if you have been vaccinated you may not have to wear a mask?”.

You have to read the rest of the article:-

Once every citizen on the planet – according to Bill Gates – about 7 billion-plus will be ID-chipped, the control of a small globalist elite will be close to total.

With an electromagnetic field and with 5G / 6G EM-waves allowing inputs and access of data in your body – the control of each individual is almost complete. The “almost” refers to the planned access to your brainwaves.

This is supposed to be happening through a Brain Computer Interface (BCI), called Neurolink (https://neuralink.com/) – developed by Elon Musk. (see video)

It presents an interface of electronic waves with the human brain which, by then, will have been converted into an electromagnetic field (EMF), so that it can receive digital commands that will influence our behavior, or can be turned off – RIP – as may be is most convenient for the Global Cabal.

Ah, my bad then. Glad it's not been as long as I thought, mate, although like the rest of us, you've still been under other lockdown restrictions for roughly that long.

In any case, you can see my point? The definition of 'essential', in that respect, is rather ambiguous, to say the least, and typical of 'catch all' [regardless of whether properly considered or fair] blanket bans on *anything*!

Sure, and as you know I have some sympathies with your viewpoint, and wouldn't ever rule it out, but if such a thing were to happen, I doubt it would occur in our lifetime.

Also, what happens with all the newborns, conceived after (or long after) all these 'brain-controlling chips' have supposedly been implanted in the existing population, via the current vaccination programme?

Are you saying in future that mandatory vaccinations (against what?) filled with such chips, will be given to all newborn babies, in order that they too can be ruled by the cabal?;)

Otherwise, when all the brain-chipped oldies die off, the planet will be saved by those pesky kids!:D

It’s taken a year or so to get to our current state so I have tried to stay away from timescales, which to a point is irrelevant.

Please don’t take selected phrases as the whole picture, your clever enough to understand the wider picture, brain control is a wide scope and can cover emissions.

I’m having food now may continue :)

Gary

Forget chips think smaller....lol (first I write think bigger....now smaller) hell what do I know?

You owe it to your newborn to be protected, look into his/her eyes and say you won’t protect them (just like the fear propaganda that’s on some TV channels right now, which by the way I consider to be utterly disgusting and below any sort of humanity.).

If we consider that vaccination passports could be a reality, how about vaccination birth certificates.

I wouldn’t consider vaccination generation limited.

I’m just sounding off possibilities not propositions.

I really hope I’m terribly wrong about the whole COVID-19 project and it’s repercussions, but logic and my reasoning makes me a true sceptic.

I’m not anti vaccination, everyone’s own call, follow your own opinion/conscience.

Gary

well, the question should be why bother as its been now proved all they do is delay the inevitable(if this lockdown fails).. i get the protect the nhs etc, but at what price? ok you will have people dying on the streets but at least we may afford them a burial.

Marco.

Interpretation: All those in the high risk categories will be vaccinated by the time the lockdown is lifted. If death rate continues at high rate after that, it'll mean the vaccine has failed.

It was plain as day to me, and I've probably made it worse!

Btw, Piggurs, in the interests of accuracy, I've looked through the thread, and since the post of mine you've mentioned, can see little talk of vaccines. just banter about one thing or the other, until this [referring to 'ID2020'], which reignited the vaccine chat:

Which fun/nice things are you referring to? Brexit? Black Lives Matter? Climate change? The on-it's-arse economy? I can't wait! :) I may start watching Newsround instead. Is it still John Craven?

Lol, nope...

Hearing about things such as what new films have been released in cinemas, or performances in theatres, which bands are touring or doing music gigs in smaller venues, new and interesting places to go on holiday, the opening of some great new pub or restaurant in the area, the introduction of an interesting and new, non-electric, car (unlikely I know) - just anything that involves the fun or nice things in life, rather than the same old, tedious/humdrum boring shite, for boring humdrum and depressing people, going nowhere, or the latest bullshit agenda that the media want to push!

Just generally more things that promote joie de vivre and a feel-good factor, as unlike many these days, we're in the fortunate position of being able to LIVE, rather than merely exist, and so I'd like see more focus on cheery and positive things on TV, and our needs met more in that respect, than those of the doom and gloom merchants. Essentially, there's WAY too much negativity around at the moment, resulting in many folks having forgotten how to SMILE [anyone who's lost loves ones from Covid excepted].

Will that do?:)

Virus's are the mechanism of evolution, they [usually] evolve in a linear fashion with us, that's really all there is to it, or should I say was, unfortunately, someone decided it was a good idea to fund laboratories to continue with research and experimentation that most of the modern world agreed should cease, unfortunately this has now led to an exponential leap in the evolution of certain types of virus, that are out of step with OUR evolution, there is a huge amount of information out there from the scientific community referring to this, now, as to what we do, well, we have seen that the majority of healthy people that come into contact with this either have no symptoms, or symptoms vary from insignificant, to moderate, depending hugely on the health and life style of the individual, it has now been estimated that anyone under the age of 70 who is relatively healthy, and fit, the mortality rate can be as low as one tenth of one percent, if that is fact, and I have personally read this information, so again its out there, the first thing people need to look at is; what can I do to maintain, or to boost my health level, secondly, a healthy mind will help enormously towards a healthy body…
Now let’s get back to Marco, telling us all about where he might be going, when he’s able to get back into his chiffons, and sling backs…

Lol, some good info there, Anthony, for folks to consider.

For me, you have to analyse and consider ALL the info that's out there about this matter, not just that which best appeases your own beliefs, or that doesn't make for uncomfortable reading, as often the real truth (about anything in life) is uncomfortable!

Therefore, for me, it's far better to be properly informed, but concerned, than cocooned within your comfort zone, both kidding yourself on that everything's fine, and oblivious to the truth.

Btw, on a more serious note, regardless of whatever theories we may have about what the future holds, and what role 'the powers that be' will play in that, it's complete bullshit for me for anyone to suggest that Covid is a 'hoax'. It's certainly NOT a hoax, in terms of being a genuine and potentially deadly virus.

We've just watched a hearse take one of our neighbours away, a young girl in her twenties, who otherwise was healthy, and who's just died from Covid, leaving behind three young kids and two distraught parents.

Others who've witnessed the same will know how hard it hits home when you see it up close. We knew this girl, as Del used to make toys and give gifts to the kids, and I sincerely doubt she'd have died so soon from anything else. Just heartbreaking to see...:(

Therefore, given that and the fact that Del was hospitalised with it, including the similar genuine experiences of others here who've been subjected to it, let there be NO mistake - as a deadly virus [clearly quite different from flu] COVID *IS* REAL!!

She died of Covid pneumonia, mate. Same as Del had and was hospitalised with (Del may be only little, but thankfully she's fit and quite tough), only sadly this time fatal. No worries, Dave. Just relating some real-life experience that are relevant to the discussion.

Having seen my wife suffer from Covid first-hand, and also her with flu/pneumonia, I can say for definite that Covid is quite different, both in the initial symptoms, how it hits you later, and most significantly the after effects, which Del's still suffering a little from, and which she's never had before with flu, or even swine flu.

Just came across this on the Wam...don't know if it's the thoughts of the chap who posted it....but it's a good observation...

People who spread anti-vax misinformation use pseudoscience and lies to perpetuate their conspiracy theories

They are directly responsible for unnecessary deaths.

If you don't understand the true science, please don't spread anti-vax info, you may think you're helping but in reality you are killing people

Marco
16-02-2021, 14:07
Depends what you mean by "anti-vax misinformation" (which could be simply mean ANYTHING that isn't deemed as 'pro-vax'), legitimately so or not, plus also "pseudoscience" (which could simply mean anything that doesn't fit with the 'officially approved' version), or "conspiracy theories" (which could simply mean anything that dares to challenge the 'accepted norm');)

It's called free-thinking, Alan, whether you or I agree with what's stated or not - and long may people have the freedom allowing them to do that, rather than be brainwashed into 'obeying' a given dogma, as the creation of such, or a 'herd mentality', where anyone who dares think of behave differently from the masses, is lambasted or alienated, is one of the biggest dangers to our freedoms.

That's why I don't make (arguably) ill-considered, black and white statements (as the guy on the Wam did) when referring to others who may legitimately look at things differently from me, and whose opinions on Coronavirus (or anything else for that matter) are equally as valid :)

However, that said, I should add that I would hold anyone guilty of *deliberately* scaremongering people, by spreading malicious falsehoods about vaccines or anything else to do with the current pandemic, in as deep contempt as I would any authorities or powerful and wealthy individuals, who may be using the current situation to further their nefarious ends - but stifling free speech, no matter how much it offends our sensibilities or otherwise, offers no constructive solution to anything.

Abused your body? Why on earth would you say that? What did you have in mind? So, no broken bones, no fighting, no stitches? Did you ever leave the house? Thinking back on my life, with the motorbikes, swimming in rivers, silly stunts on buildings and scaffolds as a kid I should be dead several times over

But the worst was when I was 12, and a tunnel I was digging collapsed on me, but I managed to pull myself out. A week later the same tunnel did the same to my friend, who didn't survive. That was a bad time, his mum and dad never got over it.

I'll stop now as I'm getting a bit dark, probably due to a good friend passing on Monday.

Exactly what you've mentioned! A few fights in school, but I usually won (as I was bigger and stronger than most), so others invariably came off worst:D

But nope, never needed stitches or broken any bones... Largely always been careful with my body, plus being an only child from Italian parents, who by tradition are *very* protective, up until I was about 14, I wasn't much out of my parents' sight. who always wanted to know where I was, who I was with and what I was doing, and I was pretty obedient, as my dad was strict, so would've got belted for having got into any trouble!

From 15 into my 20s though, it was the opposite - I got up to all sorts!!:eyebrows: But thankfully, largely avoided injuring myself, even falling off my motorbike a few times (stoned on mushies and goodness knows what else), plus a house roof!, just cuts and bruises. Lucky, yes, but I was generally pretty careful, at least when I wasn't under the influence of any substances!

Steve is right Marco, I am amazed that you have never had an inoculation for tetanus, you really should have one - the bacteria is all over the place and it doesn't take a "major wound" to get infected, agricultural workers were particularly at risk through even small wounds from thorns, rusty tools etc.

Marco
17-02-2021, 21:27
Well, unless I had one when I was a baby (is that likely?) then I can say defo no. Just asked Del if she's had one, and that was also a negative, so there you go!

And I stay well clear of rusty tools:D

The baby one was I think measles, rubella, tetanus and meningitis.
Obviously dependent on your age. Measles was about 68. Men was a bit later.
My wife's brother died of it..

Other illnesses you get or at least got were whooping cough, polio, diphtheria etc.
Amazing the risks to babies that were removed by vaccines.

Lol... Don't you think if I've been able to reach the age of 55, with no issues, despite having had numerous cuts and wounds throughout my life, including a nasty dog bite on my arse (when I was in a sales job and entered a scrapyard, where unbeknown to me, the resident guard dogs were roaming loose, and I had to run for it, but ended up being bitten), yet healed up fine without treatment, I'm probably going to be ok?;)

In any case, even if by some strange miracle, I've managed to remember the BCG jab I received, but forgotten about the tetanus one, then I've only ever had two 'jabs' in my life, certainly no more:)

Well in the case of child vaccinations, it sort of is. These things will have been rolled out nationwide, and i can't think why your school would have said no thanks. Unless your folks kept you away from school on those particular days. I was thinking you may be mis-remembering - your dad may have the answer.

I know... As you can well imagine my first thought was for the poor dog. Worst was, I'd shat myself after being chased by two Rottweilers, which my arse was caked in, so it bit into a pool of my primo-pure skitters:(

Amazingly though it survived, but I believe was rendered blind...

No it was the precursor to the picture-framing/art business I ended up starting myself. Beforehand I used to work for a company doing the same, and where during the day you cold-called business premises to sell stuff (essentially a van dropped you off in an industrial estate in the morning and collected you around 4pm), and you just sold to anyone you could. Then from 5-10pm you did residential stuff.

Bloody hard and often soul-destroying work in all weathers, on commission only too, but I became rather good it (and it certainly further honed my sales skills), and earned pretty decent money (averaging around £400 a week, cash in hand, for a then 24-year old). subsequently learning the business and then doing the same myself, a few years later, employing my own sales team, then developing the business from there on the corporate side, winning some big hotel and pub contracts (for supplying artwork for the public areas and bedrooms), and the rest is history!

Meaning of anti-vaxxer.....pay attention to the second paragraph....I don't think Marco is an anti-vaxxer

Some people might simply be a bit unsure about whether or not they want one.

There are also people who are against vaccinations - they're known as 'anti-vaxxers' - and are part of the anti-vaccination movement.

Indeed, Alan, and I'm not part of any such 'movement'. Wouldn't interest me one iota! This is a one-off, as I've never before felt it necessary to take such a stance.

Basically, if using MY judgement criteria, *I* consider that *I* need vaccinated for something, and if using MY judgement criteria, *I* consider it as safe, then I'll have it, and if not, I won't. And I won't bow to anyone who doesn't like or agree with my stance.

Simples... It's called having a mind of your own, and the confidence to follow that, rather than succumbing to peer pressure, simply to comply with 'official advice', or fit in with the masses:)

Excellent News for my 80-y-o old British Army mate, Chelsea. AKA Pensioner Lawrence.

Having (bravely) not payed his Poll Tax back in the Thatcher years, he has always ducked under the Radar. Never registers to Vote.

But has lately become worried about COVID-19.

Decided to get a jab. Registered with a Doctor. Within an hour they have made him an appointment. :)

He gets his jab at 3.15 PM next Tuesday at the old Eastney Police station in Highland Road. Now a Health centre.

Whether it will help his football team (Chelsea) remains to be seen.

Israel study of vaccine shows it works

Read the report, it doesn’t show the vaccine works in the general population, but with a chosen group not conducive to real world. No standard group concurrent.
Full of ifs, buts, assumptions and maybe’s.
States “peer reviewed” but no disclosure of how and by whom.
No testing protocol outlined.

If this was the whole of the study it’s so full of holes it’s unworthy.

The Covid restrictions are to be progressively relaxed following this current so called 'final lockdown'.

Personally, regardless of the vaccination programme, I think we'll see another rise in infections later in the year. It'll be caused by younger people mingling without caution as before, they won't learn and don't care. They've not been vaccinated yet and I expect many won't even bother.

Vaccination will probably make things safer for older folk though, but I wouldn't rule out the need for another lockdown.

Vaccine / no vaccine; it's up to each person what they do and nobody has a right to demand that any person should have one if they don't want.

To be frank I'm so sick and tired of this lockdown crap I couldn't care less what people do going forward. I'm also worn out with reading about it too. If infections spike again then big deal, a lockdown rollercoaster will never work.

Vaccine / no vaccine; it's up to each person what they do and nobody has a right to demand that any person should have one if they don't want.

I've deleted my Apple News app as the tiresome daily articles were the same sh*t over and over again reporting absolutely nothing new. The media have been worse than ever through this debacle, and have done nothing but scaremongering and enflaming fear for little reason.

Bollocks to coronavirus.

I sincerely hope that you don't get it and / or have a rough time or even die from it.

Guys, I'm not taking sides here, as I can sympathise with elements of all the views that have been expressed, but let's just remember that this is a sensitive subject and that many people have died and lost loved ones as a result of this virus.

Therefore, it's not really the place for backslapping viewpoints that others may find offensive, and so I'd ask that everyone shows due consideration for that fact and tries to be a little more considerate. Ta!:)

This is absolute madness..full lockdown should be kept in place until at the very least, all of the adult population has been vaccinated.
