Son in Law is plod. He tells me that they have absolutely fuck all powers except to issue some sort of summons, in a major ( as in capitol) city such as Cardiff they don't have the man power to even bother.

Selfish as i may be, but i really didn’t realize how many old folk are stuck at home with not much to do and no one to communicate with and are just plain lonely.
The only down side is that yesterday he started shoving god down my throat and gave me a bunch of Jehovahs witnesses leaflets, i had to really fucking bite my tongue on that one.
My #1 pet hate is people preaching religion to me, it literally makes my piss boil, either that or its the bleach i injected earlier.
But if it makes him happy and gives him hope, then so be it.
Don't know that you need one but good on u. I've a guy doing this for my son, as I'm inlockdown and can't really do it myself.
He needs help as he has both mental and physical issues. I'm going to write a letter for the guy to show that he has been doing his bit. It might help him get a new job when this is over

I also posted a Guardian article saying the same and presenting evidence. There are several links between Trump and one of the bleach nutters too. It’s clear he has been contacted and the circumstantial evidence that he had heard of (and was arguably influenced by) this nonsense is growing. He’s also got form. Look at his reaction to hydroxychloroquine. An unproven drug he not only pushed, but also bought up 25 million doses of, leaving those needing it for its primary purpose without it. Latest trials show you fared worse if you took it than if you didn’t. Another trial cancelled due to related deaths.
It’s hardly surprising that medical experts are issuing warnings every time the orange clown goes off on one in front of millions of viewers.
The trouble is, he thinks he has intelligence and expertise.

Yeah, decorating - it's not exactly 'essential', is it? And most stuff you can order online from various sources. We've been buying plants and veg seeds, plus barbecue coals, etc, online and having it delivered in order to facilitate our 'projects'.
There's no real need to physically visit stores. I'd have kept them shut, as all it's done is encourage idiots to go out for a 'jolly':rolleyes:

My only hope Is that the morons running round everywhere all infect each other to the point where their numbers are greatly reduced. True, almost anything can be ordered online to be delivered. And if I had to buy anything for the house that's what I'd be doing.
We now find ourselves in a position where we can get our groceries delivered (Morrisons, Tesco, Iceland). Bit of a wait, but we are managing to have enough in the fridges and freezers to keep going in the meantime. We pool our requirements with those of our next door neighbours, so one delivery serves two households.
It's very much a case of if you can you should.
Yup, the bottom line is that anything that's remotely important, available from a DIY store, can be ordered online [and not just from B&Q]. So with everyone supposedly at home, they should have plenty of time to wait for stuff to arrive, and no excuse for missing any deliveries!
Therefore, there is *no need* to open B&Q stores, including for 'click & collect', as that simply encourages queues of morons to clog up all the surrounding roads...!!:doh:

If so, then those persons indoors, by staying indoors are less likely to infect others. Think of it as the concept of a bubble which means you apply social distancing
to those not in your immediate bubble, As an example you can still visit a person who is otherwise lonely, but you apply social distancing when visiting. You can also go for walks,
and exactly the same, you need to apply social distancing when near others.
New Zealand is moving back to Level 3 tonight, which means we still apply the bubble principle, but some shops similarly applying social distancing when with customers

Why should it bother you if someone else wants to protect themselves and their loved ones by stepping aside and taking whatever steps they feel are necessary? Suppose they don’t share your unsubstantiated assertion about it largely being spread indoors. Suppose it “largely” is spread indoors but not exclusively. Why should anyone take a risk just so they don’t piss you off as you pass?
Your post typifies the sort of selfishness that only serves to spread this virus IMO. Staying indoors will be tougher for some but compared to staying in hospital with a tube rammed down your throat if you get the virus, I’d suggest it’s a lesser evil.

This is exactly what I would do, and it never occurred to me that it might piss anyone off. On the contrary - while I would do it partly to help keep myself and mine safe, I'm also showing them that while I believe myself to be virus free, they don't know this and I'm keeping my distance out of respect for their concerns. It's a sort of courtesy, and I do it with a smile and an acknowledgement.

You could easily catch it just walking through the 'cloud' of someone else's exhaled breath. Especially on a warm, still day like we had over this weekend. Likewise they could catch it from you.

Quite correct, my neighbour Andre, who is a part time paramedic contracted covid19 5 weeks ago.
They have determined he is likely to have got it on the second call out of his first shift after 8 normal days away from work. The person he saw was complains of chest pains and difficulty breathing, they were in their early 3’s had a complex health history so likely due to this. Even so my friend PPEd up and took the person to hospital. 24 hours later my friend was pretty ill with it, his work confirmed the patient also had CV19. It is very likely the patient he dealt with was the only person he became in contact with cv19 as after his shift he went straight home, and became ill over night, he had only seen his family at home before this and they were all well and have remained so.
Andre was in bed for over a week, he could hardly walk or talk for the next 2 weeks and only started to improve in week 4. Last week he actually began to feel more normal.. In week 3 of his illness he spoke with his GP giving him his body vital readings and was told by the GP if this had not improved in 24 hours or his breathing difficulty got in the slightest worse, then immediately call 999. He returned to work today.
So my point is just one contact of someone with CV19 and you can become infected, and remember just because your fit and healthy or young then it is no guarantee that you will not become very ill and possibly end up in a Covid19 ward.
It is very, very infectious!!!

Hmmm.. it has a Telecaster body, and looks close, but different too, to the 1973 Telecaster scratch plate , it appears to have AL Orange beyond the fender label, as a label at the headstock, It would fall under
classification as a parts caster, as it has adapted other parts different to standard telecasters..... but Yes quite nice indeed.

One of the most horrible situations I've ever been in was when I was on holiday in London, in the summer of 1986, just touring round the place on an all-day travel card, and forgot what time it was. The carriage I was in was pretty quiet, then, I think it was when we reached Victoria, hordes of folk climbed in and engulfed it, to the extent that you could've hardly put a cigarette paper between them, either standing or sitting!:eek:
I can get a little claustrophobic sometimes, and in that heat (it was around 30C that day), surrounded by all those 'fragrant armpits', etc, it was simply too much to bear!! So I just about managed to prize myself out and got off at the next station - and that was the last time I've been on a tube, and vowed never to do it again!:nono:

It was packed, the conductor and driver came down the carriage and ensured all the windows and doors were opened telling people next to doors to close them if they cam on the radio telling them to shut them. Several people fainted and others were having problems breathing, I suspect the temperature must have gone into the mid 40's. The issue was a signalling failure so all trains had to stop where they were until fixed.
It was an extremely unpleasant experience, like being locked in a stuffy, smelly sauna for over an hour. I recall getting on the mainline train at Waterloo to Hampshire and people giving me strange looks as my hair, shirt, and trousers were soaked through with sweat. I did tell those nearest what had happened.
Indeed, a most unpleasant activity best avoided, if at all possible, and with 'social distancing' likely to become a permanent feature of our lives for the foreseeable future, grossly overcrowded tube trains (or indeed any grossly overcrowded form of public transport) are likely to be a thing of the past.

A few years ago we took my father in law to Claridges, and as he was wheelchair bound, we took a cab.
Cab driver was so helpful, service "door to door", and for four of us cost comparable to/slightly cheaper than the tube. Since then we have avoided the tube - smelly, dirty, expensive and as others have said claustrophobic.

Yes Marco, it was extremely unpleasant and stressful, some people where on the edge of panic and started shouting, with others doing their best to calm them. The driver and conductor came through the train several times checking on people telling them that they were on the radio control team. Not something I would like to repeat.

Shirley and I are obeying the lockdown rules as everyone should be.
However it is hard going for myself, as having a sport/hobby that gives such an incredible sense of freedom that paramotoring does I am missing it immensely.
There is lots of discussion on the paramotoring forums, particularly looking for loopholes, but most are staying grounded.
Unfortunately there are the odd one or two that are flouting the rules :doh:

Yeah I can understand that, mate, if not fully appreciate it, as I've never been paramotoring. However I can relate to the sense of freedom you're missing, in a smaller way, as I'm sure we all can, not being able to do the things we do or seeing members of our family.
Hopefully we'll be able to see aspects of the lockdown easing in the next few weeks, as when the numbers of new admissions to hospital, with the virus, start to dwindle significantly, it'll reach the stage where the 'cure', to address matters, is causing more harm the virus itself, and we really have to start prioritising the impact all this is having on the economy!

Irrespective of whether any one or any country is to blame our government needs to get some basics sorted, they have known about the for at least 3months.
1 testing needs to be ramped up way beyond 100k per day so general population can be tested as necessary. Forget arguments its dropping so we don’t more capability, it can and will come back until there is a vaccine.
2 the care industry, home and home care need to be sorted to stop the spreading of cv19 inside and back to the general population
3 the supply now and long term of PPE has to be sorted to be able to maintain control and limit deaths
4 if relaxation of lockdown is to occur clear and concise restrictions and practices must be defined with clear penalties across industry, education and private sectors
5 contact tracing needs to be implemented, this will be critical to limit future outbreak. What this is and means for every individual in the country needs to be clearly spelt out. Failure or refusal to participate and comply must have defined penalties and controls. Anyone who thinks it will not infringe on privacy or freedoms is an idiot but it will be need to be done until we have a vaccine and proper control.
6 border control must be restricted and all entered tested and proved free of it and not allowed into general population until shown so
Failure to do any of the above will IMO just result in continuous cycles of outbreaks and large death rates, it will probably decimate the older population and at present it is feared secondary infection is likely so the younger may become more likely to succumb if that occurs.
It is absolutely critical these points are planned for and addressed sooner than later.

They go in some antique shop and look at some tat. The dealer asks a stupid price, They haggle him down a bit to a slightly less stupid price. They go to the auction where it sells for about half what they paid for it (once the fees are taken into account which they never mention). The overall tone of the program is somewhere between a Blue Peter special and something made especially for children with learning difficulties. It's unwatchable crap.
Indeed, perhaps for you. But for someone who's interested in the value of certain collectable items, vintage or genuinely antique, the key part of BH is in watching what sells for decent prices at auctions, purchased from car boots for not a lot!
Therefore, armed with that information, you can then go to car boot sales and sometimes, if you're lucky, spy things that cost a few pounds, but can later be sold for rather more at auction! And I've certainly profited from that on more than one occasion;)

Right but I object to having to wade through a whole load of pointless crap just to get the info I want. That's why I parted company with higher education. A 90 minute lecture on Databases where the useful information could have been disseminated in 5 minutes. Or just put on a one page crib sheet and e-mailed to the students. That's when I realised those places exist primarily for the staff rather than the students. Went and got a job instead.

Building an entire TV programme around the getting of a few objects and subsequently selling them at an auction (usually at a loss) doesn't seem like a good way to learn about values. Much more effective is to visit the auction houses A LOT, to see what sells for what, and what doesn't sell at all. A typical sale will go through hundreds of lots, while Boggin' Hunt covers perhaps a dozen items.
Best way to make serious money is to be an auction house. All you need is a big room and someone with a good idea of values who can also talk fast. Money for old rope - take commission off the sellers, AND charge the buyers commission. Two lots of commission, and the hardest thing they have to do is wear a dickie bow all day :)
Building an entire TV programme around the getting of a few objects and subsequently selling them at an auction (usually at a loss) doesn't seem like a good way to learn about values. Much more effective is to visit the auction houses A LOT, to see what sells for what, and what doesn't sell at all. A typical sale will go through hundreds of lots, while Boggin' Hunt covers perhaps a dozen items.
Indeed, but it's a "dozen items", over (as Martin points out) literally 1000s of shows - all of which can be watched from the comfort of your armchair! Therefore, many thousands of different items are covered.
It's fine though, I geddit... If you don't dig that stuff, it's cool. I feel much the same about 'Game of Thrones', Downtown Abbey, or whatever other pish it was you said you liked watching with Anita!:ner:;)
And yes, you're bang on, attending auction houses often is crucial, which is why having a very good one in town (a ten minute walk from my house), which has been going for years, and that people from all over the country travel to, next to a decent pub too, is rather handy:)

Got some steak and boiled ham but the fruit stall was shut so got some chocolate digestives instead. No queues and the meat looks pretty good, might start going there more often.

I was meaning the latter. I used to live in Preston, work permanent afternoon shifts, so the mornings belonged to me. One morning a week, when I wasn't down th'archery club I would walk into town and get cheese, eggs and cooked meats (all there was really). For the last 15 years I've lived in Chorley and I can't be arsed with the 25 mile round trip (and parking charges) just for a couple of bits.
I have been to Chorley's market on occasion (not as good imo), and knowing the layout of the place I think it's too pokey and closed in for social distancing to work. And making a special trip just for nice ham and cheese does not count as an "essential journey" - rather like folk going to B&Q for a bag of compost, or doing a special trip to Asda just for a bottle of vermouth and the right kind of buns :ner:

How are you getting on with working from home? I imagine you need a fair amount of self-discipline to shut out the distractions.

I did it before about 13 years ago, before I had this job I'm in now, so it's not an entirely new experience to me. As you say discipline is the thing, and setting up a routine and sticking to it.
I avoid the temptation to have music or TV on (usually anyway ;) ). Mostly I'm pretty busy with e-mails coming in, problems to deal with, the time goes pretty fast. Not having to commute saves me money and gives me a couple of hours of extra free time each day. I could carry on with it indefinitely quite happily I think.

Nice one, mate. For me, once I taste something I like [whatever food or drink it may be], and which is much better than a product I've been getting from elsewhere, there's simply no going back!
It's a bit like applying a successful tweak to your system, resulting in a markedly improved sound, and enjoying that sound immensely more than what you had before. Would you want to return to the inferior sound now that your ears 'know better'?
For me, it's exactly the same with tastebuds, once they 'know better'... So if I tasted supermarket ham again, and was instantly aware of its inferiority, I'd *have* to ditch it for the better stuff, and make the required effort to get it!
Hopefully your steak will offer a similar 'upgrade':)

When we order the food online from the website of the takeaway restaurant concerned, we know exactly how much it comes to, so we leave the money for the driver in the wooden box outside our door (normally reserved for empty milk bottles), and they pop the carrier bag of food inside the box, then knock the door to say they've been (if we don't hear the car coming up the driveway first), and once they've gone, we get our food.
Zero interaction with a human. Then we follow the usual guidelines for washing hands, etc, and enjoy our meal. Job done!:cool:
It would be FAR more dangerous going out to a supermarket!

But, as explained, if he does his job correctly, he shouldn't need to interact directly with any customer, especially as most people will pay in advance for their food online. However, I agree fully with your last sentence.
We're doing 95% of our cooking at home, but sometimes for the other 5%, Del deserves a break - and she loves a curry (as do I), plus others and I are helping keep said delivery guy in a job, and also a roof over his head!;)

Why don't you make your own curries?
I used to do it, but I wasn't making curries frequently enough, so all the various spices ended up past their 'shelf life', lost their taste and 'pep', so I threw them out. I have yet to replaced them. :doh:
Sometimes we do, Barry, but to do it right (i.e. authentically) from scratch with fresh ingredients - the only way we'd entertain it - is a lot of work, and Del's been cooking nonstop since the lockdown started, so I think deserves a well-deserved break:)
Bear in mind that in normal circumstances we'd be eating out once or twice a week in a pub or restaurant, so it's just nice to have a wee change!:cool:

Yes it is a lot of work to make curries from scratch - but I did enjoy measuring out and mixing all the various spices.
Yes, definitely. When we do it, we even use a pestle and mortar (a big old heavy bugger) to grind together all the spices to make up the curry mix, as its not only therapeutic, but in our opinion produces superior results to an electric spice grinder.
Our favourite is making Thai green or red curries (or soups), as authentically as possible, and we're fortunate to have a Thai shop in Wrexham that sells all the necessary ingredients:)

I am trying to watch Van Dee Walk and suffer the shit ads, what really really pisses me of is the banks, insurance companies, media giants and computer giants and anyone else you can think of trying to put a spin on their ad that they are their for us.

If you do like the idea of making a "curry" from scratch, could I recommend the "Hairy Bikers - great curries" book. I used their basic recipe sauce on Friday (along with a couple of bhaji recipes) and it turned out really well.

Nice thing about Hairy Bikers recipes is that they keep the recipes fairly straightforward, but still from separate spices.
Only downside was that I missed the Indian restaurant naan.
