Still going to bed around midnight/up about 7, so no change there, but my dumps timetable is all over the place. my 'gift to the world' would normally happen around 7am, but now it can happen any time of the day, much to the dismay of those that share this space with me :(

Yesterday Mrs. P made a load of ginger biscuits and a Victoria sponge cake, and this is all mostly gone (boredom-eating). Sponge cake was very nice, but rather dense - if someone threw a slice at your head you'd know about it. Probably contributing to my erratic poo times.

Well you did ask.

Yes, you must be used to 'nipping it' and saving it for later when you're up a ladder and feel a chocolate hostage threatening to escape, unless you you've dared releasing it in a customer's toilet? And that would be jolly indecent of you.

Tell Anita that fillet mignon, not sponge cakes, is good for softening stools.

Oh no, I still jump in the tub last thing before bed, that will never change as long as I'm physically able to. Standards must still be maintained, though I really do it for myself, not for appearances.

Now for something completely different...
Has anyone found them selves sleeping late, staying up late and cooking far to much, because being home for 3 weeks just throws everything off?

Sadly no - busiest 3 weeks of my life with work (trying to get c. 4,000 people working from home, when our capacity at the beginning of the month was around 400...) And then trying to help homeschool two kids who think they're on a 6 month holiday... as well as be the dinner lady... But very grateful to be safe, so far.

Lol - where are you getting your figures from, daftee? In Greater Glasgow alone, there's been 547 deaths... The Scotland figure in total is bound to be far greater. Key in any relevant post code here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51768274

I've been saying that for weeks..........but nobody listens!

Many people about not wearing face masks. They should be compulsory if you go out. Re-use them, a few minutes in a hot tumbledryer will probably sterilise them adequately for repeated use. As long as you're not using a communal dryer.

I caught the end of a TV news report from Italy I believe, saying that any form of face covering is worth using. A scarf for instance.

The virus itself may be microscopic, but it is carried in water vapour and droplets. Much of which can be arrested by a simple mask.

Much quieter here Brian, but the Indians are still gathering in groups and yacking, they obviously don't understand or don't care.

The druggies are more obvious, as they are incapable of staying in. Saw a group of three in a right state yesterday, one coughing all over the place and streaming with sweat. Nasty, I kept well away.

Petrol/diesel very cheap at the moment, presumably due to reduced demand. Got the van and the car both filled up. When the restrictions are eventually lifted there will be a massive surge of panic buying, and there will be some folk stupid enough to try using their stockpiled alcohol-based hand cleansers in their cars.

Mrs. P has just ordered 10 black fabric masks off ebay. I don't expect they will offer the wearer much protection, but will certainly help to arrest coughs and sneezes. So they are there to protect others from us, and if everyone did the same I'm sure it can only help.

Our local hospital, Addenbrookes, has just been on the news. They have developed a machine used to check for Ebola into a Corona virus detector. Apparently, anyone can use it, gives results in minutes and doesn't use the 'chemicals' which are in short supply. They have 40 at the moment but hundreds can be made/day.

Could help a lot to get people back to work.

It is a very odd time, I don't know about life in the U.K. or other parts of the world where people may read this but until we where hit with this virus there was not much rest.
My day Monday to Friday Starts at 5:30 AM or 6:00 Am getting ready for work stopping to put gas in the beast nearly weekly $100.00 fill up. Getting to work and running all day.I get off work 2 :30 pm and my Son gets out of school at 2:30 so I have to drive through traffic in a mad rush because if your not there by 3:40 they are on the phone to you. Pick up my son Conner go through a drive through window for dinner, run home fill up his water bottle while he changes in to his baseball uniform grab his gear and drive to Richards field practice 3x a week and 2 games a week, then come home at 7:00 pm or 10:00pm and help him with his home work. And have a snack before bed . Saturday doing laundry, cleaning house and some family time when not in a travel ball tournament. Sunday church some times morning some times evening 2 weekends a month Conner has travel baseball all week end out of town. And nearly every Sunday is baseball practice for his travel team. Spring and Fall is Little League he is in Majors ,Summer and winter is basketball or Dynamic Training ( 90 min. 2x a week, one 90 min. session he may do 200 push ups in 10 sets of 20 spread out over the work out, run with a parachute on his back, agility training and plyometrics exorcises ,in 90 min. they get 3 x 1min. water breaks so they build endurance. So Conner is always pushing him self. My Wife Nosheen works 6 days a week with Monday off , 10:00 AM to 6:00pm So she takes him to school, works then runs to see his games in the evenings under the lights at Richards field, and on Sunday if we miss the early service she closes at 5:00pm so we can go to church later.

For 3 weeks now we have been home cooking together. Going to the park as a family and eating 3 meals a day together. Even our church is closed but doing service on line. We have done pretty well one of Conners coaches has been setting up practices for just his son and Conner but we all keep a distance and wash our hands after handling the ball. So they don't lose their pitching and hitting skills.
It has been a total reset of life, my truck may go the whole month on one tank of gas! It sat undriven for 2 full weeks.

Our house needs a lot of putting stuff away thinning out and organizing,I just don't feel like it. I know that sucks but I sleep when I feel like it and get up when I feel like it and it feels good.
How will we go fully back to the life we had before ? Knowing how it feels to be free from the rat race? Roseville near Sacremento Ca. U.S.A.

We can still go out side, we live in a condo so not much of a yard but we are less than 200 feet from a small park with a girls softball field and a basketball court.
We don't get close to people and when we get home we wash our hands and leave our shoes out side, and disinfect what ever ball we used .
It is so hard to just turn off all a 10 year old boys activities and expect him to just sit on the computer playing games or reading weeks at a time so this is our compromise.

Last few days have been quite pleasant for me (I know that sounds very self centred) but I have been getting out in the garden and getting ahead with lots of jobs:

Grape vines trimmed (wrong time of year, but didn't feel like it back in December)
One of my pergolas pressure washed (to get rid of algae), then treated with preserver.
Patio blocks pressure washed.
Wood chairs cleaned and teak oiled.

Raised beds topped up with soil (on offer at Wickes and delivery today. Still waiting for tomato, sprouting broccoli and broad beans to germinate so that I have something to put in the raised beds:)

Daughter just back home from work at hospital (she is an OT), apparently we have possibly been in contact with the virus.
My daughter has been working with patients for weeks who have developed Covid but were on general wards. So either our routine is very clean (she goes straight in to the shower when she gets home and her clothes are all washed at 65 degrees then tumble dried each evening (my bloody electricity bills:eek:), or we have immunity? or it takes longer than 14 days to develop?

Really missing the pub, but have a selection of beers on the patio cooling down for tonight and my first batch of beer (Woodfordes Nog) is ready for transferring to the pressure barrel - something else that I will be getting on with.

All the best. Guy.

I seem to recall they had the same issue in WW2 with people not observing the black-out restrictions, hence the formation of the ARP and 'Put that light out!'

Also there's a psychological aspect. People don't want to deal with the fact that something so catastrophic is happening and one of the ways of blotting that out is to try to carry on as normal.

Most of us are old and used to entertaining ourselves by reading, listening to music and so on. That's what we did when we were young when there was no money, only three channels of tv. Remember how dull a cold, rainy Sunday could be? Nothing was open, you had no spare money anyway, choice between watching Highway or Songs of Praise? We developed coping strategies in those times, the younger generations have not.

Regarding that bit where all those Chinese folk were stripping the shelves of infant formula 2 packs at a time as per restrictions, leaving them outside then going back in for more - they may get away with that in Australia, but over here someone would have all those unattended packs away no problem.

Indeed, and that's NOT a good stat either, especially now! You have to ask yourself *why* London is so overcrowded and WHO or WHAT has allowed it to become that way...? But that's a whole other conversation...

The fact is, now with this pandemic, there's never been a better time to live as far away as possible from big cities and mass population. There have only been 189 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (our local one) so far, out of a total population of 698,369, with so far only 42 deaths, and that figure has hardly changed in the last week.

What's notable there, aside from anything else, is that the case numbers are very low for a population of that size, even though it's far from being a high population (compared with other areas of the UK, although it's a huge chunk of that of North Wales), which shows that the people of North Wales are staying put, as per the rules, and not wandering around like other idiots, spreading the virus!

Compare that with similarly populated areas of England, let alone London or any other major English city, and it shows not only a very low number of cases and deaths, but so far a successful containment of the virus. That's because out with of Wrexham, in North Wales there are more sheep than people.... [Down Piggurs:eyebrows:] Or more seriously, no major cities with high populations, liable to spread the virus. That fact becomes even more obvious when you compare the cases and death rates of CV in South Wales, around Swansea, Newport and Cardiff...

But, when this pandemic is over, that's not an invitation for all you 'big city' boys, down south, to come and live up here!. You can stay put, thanks:D;)

A friend of mine shared this on farcebook
(Apols for cut and paste and the language ,but warranted I thought )
As someone with a Masters in disease control, you can only imagine the sheer hell on earth that Facebook is for me at the moment.

From Chantelle who has impressively made the leap from bath bomb retailer to consultant virologist in a matter of weeks and can tell you exactly why the government and their experts are wrong, to Bob who claims to have secret intel from a secret government group on the secret programme of secret treatment measures that the government are definitely bringing in at 3pm next Thursday, only it’s a secret, but he’s posting it on Facebook so he feels like 007, to Steve who thinks it’s all a load of bollocks and if he wants to wander round town he bloody well can cos he doesn’t feel sick and why the fuck is ‘spoons shut cos his granddad didn’t fight the nazis for him to be told to stay inside even if pornhub premium is now free for a week.

I tried as hard as I could in my studies and in my work in disease control to avoid viruses like the plague (see what I did there?) because they are absolute bastards. Bacteria are so much easier to control and parasites are positively dreamy. Viruses are utter bastards (did I mention that?) because you can do almost fuck all to them. To deal with viruses you have to deal with the viral vector instead. That’s the weak point for a virus. Its vector. Only in this case the vector is humans, bloody stupid, arsehole humans like Chantelle, Bob and Steve. Viral control is about psychology more than it’s about medicine and that’s what’s scary about it. Giving everyone a pill is easy, getting everyone to listen and change their behaviour is a fucking nightmare.

The virus is just chugging along being a virus, it’s living it’s best life #livelaughcough. You can’t ignore it out of existence, scaremonger it away or become magically immune by gargling with vinegar, donning a decorating mask or sticking a live frog up your arse and swanning round town like an immortal dickhead. You have to actually do what you’re being told to do. YOU.

YOU. You can stop it. Do what you’re told. Stay the fuck inside. Stop thinking you’re an expert, stop thinking you know best, stop thinking you’re a rebel, stop trying to be a special little cupcake. Be a sheeple. Do what you’ve been asked to do. This is NOT your time to shine sweet cheeks, this isn’t your opportunity to over throw the system and save mankind. It’s your opportunity to sit tight, watch Netflix and save mankind.

The virus does not give a shit about you. You’re just a stepping stone, a host, a nameless, faceless breeding ground and launchpad. All it gives a shit about is reproducing and finding new hosts. Don’t let it. Break the chain. Shut the hell up. Stop spreading fake news, fear and gossip. Let the experts be the experts and do what they tell you because all the googling, all the conspiracy theories, all the spoilt princess routines and all the voodoo bullshit in the world is not going to help you one little bit. This is not about YOUR ego, it’s about OUR survival. So act for the good of us all and do what you’re being asked to do.

Stay inside, protect the NHS, save lives.

I’m almost as much fun on Twitter @clerkingabout www.twitter.com/clerkingabout

Addendum:
Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read my ramble and to share it and help me convince my parents that all that money spent on the Masters degree was of some benefit to mankind but I’m just a girl who has a little experience I wanted to share.

I’ve not even told you about the time I got the lab induced yeast infection up my nose, the time I sedated myself with chloroform during an exam, or had an entire, fully operational water treatment plant stolen over night, but, suffice to say I have a little window into this mad world we’re all stuck in together now.
I am not your government. I am not your health department. I am not the girl who decides on your country’s global treatment programme. I’m not Scully, or indeed, Mulder.

So please don’t come at me bro, I’m not interested in arguing with you because you’ve read how eating 4 oranges a day will give you a shield of protection like you’ve just had a bowl of 1970s readybrek, or how you have a file of secret evidence as to why this has been made up by the Chinese/Trump/ phone companies or your dad. I’m just here to say STAY THE FUCK INSIDE.

Now, Judge Judy is on and I’ve just treated myself to a Freddo Frog, so have fun y’all and STAY THE FUCK INSIDE.

Just received my letter from NHS...stay indoors for 12 weeks..no food shopping...no picking up meds...no nothing...difficult, but I can do it...I'll have to keep the missus in too, though they say she can go out...not happening, she stays indoors end of tale....Boris in ICU., he must be bricking it..hang on in there Boris. Try to be strong and I hope you come through this safe and get well soon....my thoughts go out to everyone who has been affected at this time..xx

I am still in total disbelief, at the extremely blase attitude of some people, who will not conform..all I can say to these ignorant non compos mentis pigs , is get indoors and stay there...good people please excuse my French and apologies for what I'm now going to type, but...to the idiots out there, who will not listen..You fucking thick cunts, you don't deserve a life..damn you all to hell you bloody bastards...

STAY INSIDE.
It is hard to make such an adjustment for some. But it is the only chance we have at reducing the number of deaths. Here in the U.S. we just hit 11,000 deaths.
The life you save may be your own. Today we are going to get thick cotton fabric, liner fabric, Elastic to make masks as no one working the grocery stores have them.
My wife has worked as a Taylor and has a really good sewing machine so she wants to use her time in lock down in a way that helps those on the front line.
But going into crowded stores freaks me out. These masks are washable and reusable . We can all find a way to help someone in such a tuff time.
This is a time of prayer and thinking of others around you. Love everyone including those not showing good judgment, tell them this virus is a killer and ask them for the safety of their families and themselves to please stay inside. People respond better to a kind word of concern than the middle finger.

Some people really don't get IT , sometimes they are just young and feel invincible, remember those days?
If enough people remind them it is not just for their good but the good of theirs family it makes more sense to them.

One thing I am doing now, is not buying any Chinese goods anymore, It may cost more but I am going out of my to buy everything I can from the U.S. U.K. and India.
If it is made in China,I don't want it. I started buying tools made all over the U.K. instead of supporting china, the most selfish nation on Earth.

GOD PLEASE PROTECT THE PEOPLE AND FAMILY'S OF THE ART OF SOUND FORUMS.

GOD PLEASE SAVE ALL, AND BLESS ALL... AMEN

I've been trying to avoid buying anything that is Made in China for years now. The trouble is the origin of manufacture is not often marked on the outer box, but hidden away somewhere on the item itself, usually in very tiny letters!

I wanted to buy a new paper stapler some time ago - I found it impossible to buy one that was not 'Made in China': all the well-recognised and regarded UK brands now have their products made in China. Be it irons, kettles, most 'white goods' and power tools.

Particularly difficult if buying online, and the country of manufacture is not stated, but I too will make more of an effort. It's probably the only way we can show them. Though according to the video forwarded by Jeff, the Chinese will pursue even the smallest of profits.

My favoured contribution to this cause would be to seek out these people filling their car boots with essential items, then slap them silly and make off with their loot. And my response to any liberals who may accuse me of incitement: I DON'T CARE! that video has really wound me up you may have noticed :(

Report on bbc London yesterday from Barnet suggested social distancing was still rather patchy along high streets etc. In fact the borough of Barnet indeed was becoming a virus hotspot.
People around my way seem to have got the message, though I did have to dodge a mobile phone zombie yesterday with a neat body swerve ( think Lionel Messi ) ;) to keep my

I live in a village so no big problem with distancing. When I walk the dog the nearest I have been to anyone must be about 20 metres - quite nice when I "meet" another dog walker, we both tend to change direction early on in the encounter and smile and wave. There seems to be a friendlier atmosphere.

Bloody awful experience a couple of days ago in a Supermarket in Ipswich though. I went out to get some fresh vegetables, milk etc (village farm shops have been emptied by people from town driving out here during the early stages of panic buying).
In the supermarket there was a group of six women gossiping/having a laugh at the end of one of the aisles, I stopped to look at the chocolate and a woman (wearing face mask, so she was ok :mental:) was impatient and bumped in to me as she stretched to get what she wanted.

At the checkout queue (clearly marked with distance warnings) the woman in front of me was only a foot or so behind the chap in front - he turned and, very politely, told her to keep her distance and she seemed to be offended that he should be concerned.

Lots of dumb f--ks in town, so glad that I live in a village.

On the way home I was being driven to distraction by the urge to scratch/rub all these strange itches on my face, managed to resist though.
As soon as I got in, clothes on hot wash and a very thorough shower.
I won't be going in to town again for quite some time.

Btw, on a totally different subject, if anyone is struggling to find bottles of hand sanitiser, we've just been to Boots and obtained some, where I was reliably informed that they're getting huge deliveries of such in every morning, and which by 10.30am will be available to purchase at till points ONLY [restricted to two per person] until stocks last.

So if you're able to get out and are near a Boots store, bear that in mind:cool:

Problem is that no one believes the police will take any real action. It's like with knife crime - in spite of all the warnings of zero tolerance, offenders found to be carrying offensive weapons know that the judicial system can't be arsed, and the result will usually be a caution or something similarly feeble.

Guy , I believe myself ,that a lot of people are trying their hand at making bread ! This involves having a couple or three bags to be going on with and being confident of getting some more (Strong bread flour)

As I see it ,the supermarkets sold a pallet of flour say , once a week for example but now see a demand up by god knows how many % .
And the buyers will make sure they have a really good stock or buy a bag oor two for someone else maybe !
My son was perusing Fleabay yesterday - a big bag of flour was at £28 or something with a day to go - The twats selling it want visiting and slamming their fingers in the door jamb .

Surviving or avoiding Coronavirus is one thing, but I want to know who's to blame for all this shit! If you follow the Covid-19 trail right back to where it all started, there has to be a decision and an act by one individual that sparked the whole thing off! I thought that was pretty well confirmed as it started in a market in Wuhan ? Apparently, the locals like to eat Bats or use them in traditional medicine and those animals carry it.

What didn't help was that the disease was classified as a 'moderate threat' and so the proper precautions weren't taken, allowing the disease to spread.

I saw some info on the net about a month ago (strangely it can no longer be found), what I mean is was on the WWW from a reasonably reliable source, it reported that two scientists working in a Microbiological research centre only 400m from the Seafood Market centre in Wuhan, where it was reported the virus originated, had released information that they were working on a engineered derivation of a Coronavirus taken from Horseshoe Bats and Pangolins. The scientists inferred they were looking into mutations with the SARs virus. They said that they knew what they were doing was highly dangerous and one of them had been infected through a scratch from an infected bat (with the new coronavirus), he self isolated and recovered after 14 days, the other scientist became infected through a urine spillage and also self isolated, it was not clear what became of him. There were photos and interviews with them as well as written text. Also on a WHO related technical medical web site which examines what the COVID-19 is and its likely source is, it reports on extreme similarities between the original SAR virus and the current Coronavirus outbreak. The Microbiological research centre in Wuhan was also sited back in the SARs outbreak as the most likely source of its outbreak 2002-2004.

CNN quote"- "In late December, Wuhan reported the first cases of the coronavirus, linked by authorities to a seafood market in the city. Scientists in China and the West have said the virus is likely to have originated in bats and jumped to humans from an intermediate host -- just like its cousin that caused the SARS epidemic in 2002 and 2003." see https://edition.cnn.com/2020/04/12/asia/china-coronavirus-research-restrictions-intl-hnk/index.html as can be seen from this report and others widely available CV-19 information now going out of China is seen to being very carefully controlled and managed.

So this is the most meaningful information that I have seen to date. It has also been reported that if the scientists in China were doing as they reported then itwould be very likely that they hold the code and possible key to getting a satisfactory vaccine to slow or halt the virus. However it may be that if they did create it then they may may have created a super virus that is not at all easy to stop, a bit like trying to find cure a common cold.:doh:

By the way I meant to say that there are a couple of trains of thought that the virus was deliberately being developed to be released. Firstly to put a stop to the many riots of civil unrest that the ruling body in China was facing and could not get under control without sending in troops, which was likely to result in a civil war. Secondly China is facing a massive social and political issue on a massive scale with about 25% of it population reaching the over 60's age very soon, the burden on its infrastructure financially and medically will be vast, so if you could easily eradicate this problem then the country would continue to evolve and prosper, a very cynical one this, but that human race has done some appalling things throughout its history.

Pigmy Pony
13-04-2020, 10:03
Not realistic though is it? The west is their 'cash cow' and this situation is devastating the Chinese economy as much as any other.

I don't know, Chinese products are already more affordable than most. And when all our manufacturing has gone down the toilet, or just hanging on by their fingernails, and with the economy down the same toilet, not only will Chinese goods be the cheaper option, they will be the ONLY option.

Anyway, that's as much as I can say on the subject as world economies isn't my forte, and this particular conspiracy theory isn't one I embrace. Just repeating what I read.

walpurgis
13-04-2020, 10:05

That is the thing now. Unless they have had the virus and recovered, nobody is safe and you can't assume that normally enjoying good health is any kind of protection.

The whole uninfected population will need vaccination or thousands, maybe millions more will die, as this virus is unlikely to just fizzle out.

An acceptably safe vaccine is probably many months or more away on the distant horizon and even once administered, individuals will not be safe for weeks afterwards until it becomes effective.

We are all in a sort of limbo.

Probably enabled or prompted by their circumstances at the time, but we have a right to know!!

We never will no doubt.

Only that it must boil down to something done by one person. A bit like the actions of Gavrilo Princip, ultimately triggering WW1.

I certainly have! But I'm saying nothing until I see how long this lockdown goes on for, and crucially, how the world we're living in THEN differs from what we knew before it (and this pandemic);)

In the meantime, others and you might like to read this article, as it may get you thinking about something that for mankind (and life as we know it) is fundamentally important: https://www.ft.com/content/19d90308-6858-11ea-a3c9-1fe6fedcca75

An interesting article, but I think that Genie is already out the bottle from a technical point of view.

The article imho is slightly naive, for instance it fails to consider just how MI5/MI6 have been able to track and listen in to who they want to at will and have been able to for several years with modern technology in mobile phones and other devices, obviously primarily aimed at security, or we hope so.

If you want remain off grid as I have said before you need to turn every device off that has a modern microprocessor chip in it with mobile or internet capabilities in your possession, and stop using the internet. Not very feasible nowadays the way society is organised, Aldus Huxley’s ‘Brave New World’ is already upon us I think.

A vaccine?

When and if a Covid-19 vaccine is developed, it will be a long time before it is available to all. Some groups will undoubtedly be prioritised and government members will no doubt feature high on the list (but this may be kept as quiet as possible). Health workers and essential service providers should obviously need this, then there's the public at large, who will have to take their turn (and their chances). Probably last will be pensioners and retired folk, along with care home patients and those sick with other conditions.

I see an eventual situation where we will all need vaccinating, as we will all be exposed to this disease sooner or later, but we are probably looking at years, not months.

Was reading somewhere that if this virus had appeared around 5 years ago a vaccine would have taken about 20 years to produce. Thankfully now it seems 12- 18 months away, due to advance in science/ medicine. Hopefully ?

Interesting BBC TV report from a member of the ONS this morning. He said Flu deaths this year are very high and implied that many were really Coronavirus victims. Up from about 10,000 to around 16,000. The implication perhaps, being that a proportion of the casualties are being deliberately 'misreported' as Influenza!

Yup, just something to consider, Adrian. I'm fiercely anti-establishment and, in terms of importance, value my freedom second only to my health.

Therefore, virus aside, I will be watching very carefully how things pan out when the lockdown has ended, and crucially for the remainder of the year, plus in the coming years ahead, to see what longterm impact this pandemic will have on our basic human rights, as I don't trust 'the powers that be' one iota! :nono:

I will NOT be spied upon, manipulated, controlled or turned simply into a 'number'. I'd lead a people's revolution long before that happened:trust:

You're of course right about the 'off-grid' thing, but it's simply about being so, as far as possible, based on your individual circumstances. In my situation, I could relatively easily go almost completely off-grid, as I'm not *totally dependent* or reliant on 'tech', as I haven't allowed Smart devices, particularly Smartphones, to dominate or control my life, although life would be duller without access to the internet, and of course posting on here!:)

Anyway, this is an interesting article from the BBC, drilling down into the death toll figures of the virus: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-51979654

What's particularly interesting for me is this bit, especially as it's come from a mainstream establishment source:

Is coronavirus causing the deaths?

The death figures being reported daily are hospital cases where a person dies with the coronavirus infection in their body - because it is a notifiable disease cases have to be reported.

But what the figures do not tell us is to what extent the virus is causing the death.

It could be the major cause, a contributory factor or simply present when they are dying of something else.

Most people who die with coronavirus have an underlying health condition, such as heart disease or diabetes, that may be more of a factor.

The emboldened parts are something that resonate with me, as indeed they should for anyone of a mind to question the ACTUAL impact of COVID-19 in the death figures, and why those figures may be being exaggerated...

Another interesting aspect, are Apps that have sprung up in the wake of the outbreak..
After the Surveilance mechanisms were put in place after 9/11 (and later exposed by Edward Snowdon) I think we need to tread very carefully here.
Like anything Tech, it has the potential for benefit or to be exploited.

Interesting, Gaz. I'll take a look at those:thumbsup:

Basically, what we have to be very aware of, and guard against, is the powers that be using this pandemic as an opportunity to spy on us more and erode or remove our basic human rights and FREEDOM, simply by using FEAR to control us! And the forthcoming vaccine could prove key to that....

The erosion of our human rights is often carried out (by those with an agenda/powers that be) in small, evermore 'justifiable' steps, so as to go relatively unnoticed.... My view? When this lockdown is over, and while you're still able, think very carefully about relinquishing *any* aspect of your human rights.

In that respect, let's see what in the short (and longterm) they try to 'justify' as becoming the norm!

Well on the figures front, there are around 23k care home in the uk and if we take some basic figures and assumptions this is imo how the real figures from CV19 deaths are likely to be.

Average number of residents in rack 30 so total about 600k (I think this is conservative) likely more near 1 million.

So based on government published stats 13.5% of over 70s if they get CV19 will die. Most in care homes for elderly are well over this.

Major care home providers are reporting 2/3 of their homes have CV19, so I think it safe to assume this will rise in coming weeks to around 80%. They are also report near 100% death rate of those that get it in care.

So I will take the middle ground 600k * 80% of care home affected is 480k of which we will look at it from two points of view.

If 25% get it and on government stats 13.5% die it will be around 16k die in care from cv19. However I believe this assumes treatment to maintain life, but the reality is that is not happening, and in fact in certain areas GPS are even refusing to go into care homes, and elderly cv19 patients are being sent back from hospitals to care homes.

So based on this the death rate is likely to be much higher as will be the infection rate in care homes.

So we will still go for 120k infected but I think the reality will be at least 50% death rate, so that gives the horrible figure of 60k deaths from care homes.

I personally think it will be more, for the government it is a political nightmare and there has even been today some very clever ducking, diving and avoidance by a minister of the questions being raised on BBC Radio 4 about this. I suspect the a hardened attitude is about to come out, along the lines that we can only help those that are likely to survive, the question of future worth to community will be avoided at all cost, because ethically and morally it may cause extreme unrest by some.

I know this stuff is happening, Sue best friends father 84, was rushed to hospital with heart complications from long term diabetes last Wednesday. He was in a normal ward after 1 day a chap at the other end o the ward tested positive for Cv19. Derek was moved into a private room as he is high risk and told he would be there for 7 days to isolate, and then he would be sent home once he tested clear. 4 days later they told his daughter to come and get him and take him home to isolate at home, no cv10 test done before hand and no protection given to his daughter. So if he has contracted cv19 which takes 7 -14 days to incubate, he may well have infected his daughter a will possibly infect his wife, by the way Derek and his wife have both been told to shield for 12 weeks for medical reasons. Dereks wife was a ward sister in the nhs for 40 years, Derek was in the Navy for 30 years and served in several conflicts but seems their dedication means nothing now as it seems is the same for many others.

Personally I am absolutely disgusted by what appears to happening. Give it 4-6 weeks and the isolation will be gone and the government will have its nightingale hospitals in place for the 2nd and 3Rd wave of cv19 infections that are deemed worth saving.

Hi Adrian,

Sure, I get all that and think you're right, in terms of the overall death figures, and especially cases, which I believe are BOTH being grossly understated, or in some cases numbers 'massaged'...

However, for me, in terms of the latter, the question is how many of those old folks in homes, and others not so old, with already underlying serious health conditions, would've DIED ANYWAY, regardless of COVID-19, or which the virus merely accelerated, *yet* are showing up on stats for deaths caused SOLELY by the virus?

What we *need* to know, is how many of the (currently 11k+) quoted deaths in the UK (and worldwide) were directly caused by this virus, and not something else? And I'm not even sure the tests currently being undertaken are suitably accurate to determine that...

What about the fact that vulnerable people (or their parents/guardians), young or old, were being asked by GPs to sign 'Do Not Resuscitate' forms, should they or their loved ones catch the virus, and so that if they die *most likely from their underlying potentially fatal condition*, regardless the cause of death is stated as being COVID-19 : https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/vulnerable-kids-parents-covid-coronavirus-21852510

Look at the case of that little boy with cancer. It's disgraceful... So one wonders what EXACTLY was the motive behind that decision...? A lack of beds to look after the sick? Come on! Even putting that aside, for me, deaths DIRECTLY RELATED to COVID-19 [I must stress that bit] are being *deliberately exaggerated*, in order to enable authorities to impose control.

And they'll successfully impose that control [indeed they're doing it now] through creating panic, FEAR, and DESPERATION, and making people think: 'I'll do *anything* to end this lockdown', get out of my house and return to 'normality', which is exactly how the powers that be want them to feel, in order to enable them to push through [or try to push through, if we allow it] their agenda.

Now, what that agenda is (should it exist, and I'm convinced it does), depends on your view of this whole situation. But when you're DESPERATE to escape from being placed under what is effectively House Arrest, and experiencing the effects of an evermore extended suspension of democracy, you're extremely susceptible to being manipulated and controlled by those in power, who are making all the decisions.

In terms of what that agenda is, I believe that there's some truth in the article I linked to earlier, and therefore the possible outcome of all this - or at least us taking another significant *step* closer towards it... THAT is why the death figures from COVID-19, currently being produced by the government, need SCRUTINISED and CHALLENGED MORE, rather than merely blindly accepted!

Only then, when in possession of the TRUE FACTS, can we analyse the situation we're in now more rationally, and make the RIGHT decisions for MANKIND, nothing else. However, unfortunately that simply isn't happening - and if we don't wake up and smell the coffee soon, I believe it'll be to our serious detriment - or worse.

Marco.

Well I am not so sure that they are actually being exaggerated, I am more of the opinion that they are being massaged and actually suppressed wherever possible. The figure in China have definitely been falsely lower to reflect that they have managed and got control, but I think that is far from the truth.

I suspect the government here and in other countries is carefully managing the figure to actually stop panic and situation developing that they are then unable to control.
I think as I said before they are preparing for multiple waves of cv19 and are preparing to manage resources to fight it where they believe it is best put.

Any semblance of things being 'under control' is a facade.

The only thing that is having a limited effect is the lockdown and when that is removed the infections and deaths will rocket again and there is nothing the powers that be will be able to do to stop it.

They are in a panic, but naturally will take a leaf out of Trump's book and use misdirection, misinformation and plain lies to perpetuate their game of 'smoke & mirrors'.

I take nothing that has been said at face value, governments lie!!

Some interesting stuff there Marco.

.......

......

.................................................. .........

For those that do not know, if you find that you need to apply for say JSA, ESA, Universal Credit or any other benefit for that matter, you have to supply bank account details for the payments to be made, at the point of doing that it means you have given the D W P and other government departments the right to monitor and access your bank account and any others you may have. This means they can see what money you have, what you spend it on and any payments that may go in and out.

I have been told of instances where valid claimants are called and asked why they are making specific payments and for what purpose, and how any additional funds may have come to an account. So for example if someone sold an item and money came in then they would want to know about it. If this was viewed as a regular occurrence then they may make a case to deem the individual as self employed with obvious implications, not that the person was having to raise funds to try and survive.

Obviously the purpose of this is to try and stop fraudulent claims to be made by individuals, but it can quite easily be viewed another way.

Marco

...such as being misused by 'the powers that be', in order to further their agenda and move us closer towards becoming a Police State; indeed controlled by the State, period!

Therefore, the question we should all be asking ourselves is: do we want to end up like China? Or perhaps living somewhere worse in future??

And if we don't do something about it NOW, and FIGHT to protect our civil liberties, then it may become a reality sooner than we think! This, my friends, is not a time for being apathetic towards such matters, or worse, burying our heads in the sand because reality is too scary to contemplate!

Well I am not so sure that they are actually being exaggerated, I am more of the opinion that they are being massaged and actually suppressed wherever possible.

Yes, perhaps massaged and suppressed to hide the true number of overall cases, and deaths (due to *whatever*, not necessarily caused solely by COVID-19), in order to give the impression that the government has things 'under control', but which then makes the situation look MUCH worse [i.e. the virus much deadlier] when they *deliberately exaggerate* the number of deaths, supposedly SOLELY caused by COVID-19, in order to CREATE FEAR, then use *that* as a weapon to control people, effectively by now having JUSTIFIED extending the lockdown....

You just need to apply some lateral thinking;)

The fact is, people are very easily manipulated and controlled when they're in fear for their lives... Then observe later for where the vaccine plays its part, which in the news this evening is being suggested as being available as early as September. Then watch for the next *step* (towards the 'grand plan' of the powers that be): the vaccine becoming MANDATORY, in order to travel....

I'm not saying I'm right, but it's something worth considering, rather than just automatically swallowing as true everything that we're being fed about this pandemic by the government and media, especially when you consider WHO is pulling their strings...

Sometimes it pays to have a sceptical or inquiring mind, and thus the ability to question and challenge the 'accepted norm'.

Marco.
