words genuinely fail me, why would any educated person vote for a lying idiot being steered day to day by a bunch of neo fascists (1922 wankers)
Because I don't think he's an idiot (he clearly isn't) and whatever I think of the 1922 Committee I don't think that in any way that they could be described as 'fascists.' Unless you're using 'fascist' in the modern sense of 'Anyone who doesn't agree that Socialism is a good idea'. In which case then clearly they would be fascists, but then so would I. So it would sort of make sense that I would vote for him/them.
I don't usually vote at all btw and voted against Tereasa May's government.

may just have lost the tories the next election
Hopefully!! If we're ever rid of the bastards....
Marco.
people are really pissed tbh.. more than just at him,and his attitude but of boris and not just his backing, but his poor attitude throughout... he always reminds me of crusty the clown; always itching to drop his pants to go out on:doh:
That's because he is a PRIMO clown, who's successfully managed to dupe the British electorate into thinking that he's anything other than a pompous, bumbling, self-serving toffee-nosed buffoon. Much like his father. And let's not forget, also a PROVEN anti-Scottish bigot!
And no, I won't EVER forgive him for his notorious remarks, in that respect, as Mayor of London, as I can't stand bigots of any description! He doesn't give a flying fuck about Scotland, so I don't give a flying fuck about him (or his fellow jumped-up 'little Englanders' in Westmonster). Simples!
Marco.
I like Boris. Always have done since he was first on Have I Got News For You and they were giving him grief about the Darius Guppy thing.
Yes, the latter is all he's good for!
He's essentially a glorified 'cartoon character' and object of amusement, but not really in a funny way. I suspect one of the reasons you like him is because he's 'quintessentially English' and a bit eccentric. He ticks your boxes, as you're English through and through, and that's fine. I get that.
But consider how you'd feel towards that man if you were Scottish and were majorly offended by his bigoted bias?
I'm NOT English (as you know my nationality is Scottish, with Italian ethnicity), and so have ZERO interest in anything that's PRO-England, in fact I'm staunchly ANTI it, and indeed in being ruled and repeatedly treated as a 'second-class citizen' for decades by successive English governments, especially when I lived in Scotland, which is why I seek Scottish independence.
Btw, the "PRO" bit is key! I'm NOT anti-English. Let me make that crystal clear to everyone. Indeed the vast majority of my friends are English.
So do you condone bigots? Or does it not really matter in this instance, because it's 'only' Scotland?;)
Marco.

I think you should know that Marco is a landlord.
I'm not criticising individual landlords, its just an easy way for anyone with spare cash/credit worthiness for a second mortgage to make money, it requires no specialist knowledge. The overall picture is that - especially for businesses that need a property - it is a huge drain on their resources, and in the light of Covid-19 and the new emerging economic order, it would be a way of creating huge savings for businesses and residential tenants alike without the expense of something like Universal basic income. The only way it will ever happen though is from the ground up, a rent strike for instance.
I'm not criticising individual landlords, its just an easy way for anyone with spare cash/credit worthiness for a second mortgage to make money...
...or in our case, zero mortgage, as we own both properties outright, including our own house. No point otherwise, if YOU wish to be the one in control of your future, not the bank!;)
For us, it's just a little 'pocket money', not our main income. And the tenants are friends and members of family. Best way, to ensure that you're paid and your properties don't get trashed!:)
Marco.
usa has done the most tests so their records are best to look at.. suggests 5% of known cases die
Going full "back of fag packet" for a quick calculation...
Current worldwide figures collated by Johns Hopkins (@ 7pm GMT 25/5/20)
Total confirmed: 5,453,784
Global Deaths: 346,293
So that's just over 6.25 % death rate.
'92. On one forum I used to frequent, a woman named David Cameron (then totally unknown) as the next Tory leader. She was so sure about it, she put money on it at good odds. I thought, nah, that's never going to happen.

That's the case death rate, actual death rate of all who have contracted Coronavirus is of course impossible to know, but I expect it to be a small percentage of your figure.
Not sure about anyone's expectations but know what you mean.
Given the figures are based solely on Hospital confirmed cases and Deaths and not "real world" numbers...it's the best 'snapshot' model we probably have?
(Comes from a valid source at least)
Both numbers of course can vary from whats actually the case...and probably not for the better.
Sadly.

Some of my customers used to love that sort of thing, though (I sold art and did picture framing, as part of my business), so folk wanting their portrait painted, self, family or pet, was very common. Pretty good money in it, too:)
Btw, the properties I rent out are just small terraced houses in Wrexham, nothing 'fancy', so don't get the idea that I'm some sort of property tycoon!
What I do like though is being as self-sufficient as possible and not in debt or financially beholden to anyone, so when I buy stuff (anything major, houses, cars, etc) I like to own it outright and have some sort of asset. If I can't afford to buy something outright, I don't. Worse thing is anyone having control over you, financial or otherwise, as it leaves you vulnerable and easily manipulated, which I hate. Always try and be your OWN master in charge of your OWN 'Island', and where possible, destiny...!
I learned that was a smart move when I was fairly young.

This guy, talking on the This Morning programme, on ITV, I feel is very much worth listening to.
He's pretty much spot on with my own views on the *actual need* for a vaccine, how FEAR has conditioned everyone [as I've said] to behave in a certain way and be afraid to leave their homes, which is bad, and how we need to get out of lockdown and the country going again ASAP - and crucially stating, as this guy's specialty is cancer, that MORE people will end up dying from cancer-related illnesses, if he can't start treating his patients SOON, than have so far died from Coronavirus!
Anyway, have a listen, as he's professional, down to earth, totally unbiased (no financial or political agenda), and talks a lot of sense:

He's probably right about people being afraid to seek treatment, but there's no reason to stop looking for a vaccine, firstly because a vaccine would give patients confidence to seek treatment, and medical staff protection from infection, which they might otherwise pass on. There may of course not be a 'second wave', but chances are there will be. It's not an either/or situation; as well as vaccines, we need to identify treatments in case a suitable vaccine can't be found. All the scare stuff about vaccines is based on the mistaken belief that one will be ready in the next few months, although the scientific consensus is that it will take a year minimum, and may never be found.
The dangers of lifting lockdown too swiftly was shown in Germany recently, where 60 worshippers at a church which had just re-opened contracted the virus (10 of them were hospitalised), even though the building had been disinfected and the congregation all wore masks.

Well, as usual Joe, we'll mostly have to agree to disagree. I do understand your points, but I stand by what I said and agree with the cancer specialist in question. COVID-19, in due course, will most likely 'peter out', as other viruses have done in the past. You can see it happening already. Yes, there may be a second wave, but now that we know more about what we're dealing with, we should be better prepared, in terms of being able to ISOLATE (crucial in the early stages) and contain it.
Therefore, the pertinent point is, having everyone vaccinated ASAP, by any which means necessary, in order to end the lockdown and give people their lives back (read as FREEDOM), when the virus is currently on its way out and cases on the decline, should NOT be be the government's main priority! Stopping any further spread (by any necessary and reasonable means) and getting the economy going again, businesses reopened, and people back to work, is!
As I've said before, I'm not anti-vaccines, far from it, if they've been produced safely for the right reasons. However, I'm VERY MUCH ANTI any vaccine for Coronavirus that has been rushed through the system (which would be the case if one is able to be rolled out as early as September) and which I believe has not been properly tested as safe, instead designed purely for profit, and crucially one in which Bill Gates has had his grubby paws on, for questionable nefarious intent. I'd rather die first. Yes, I feel *that* strongly about it!
So when/if there is ever a vaccine I can trust is 100% safe, and also effective against COVID-19, and the virus is still with us in a problematic way, then I may consider having it. However, I'm pretty sure I've had COVID-19 already, as about 3 weeks ago I experienced all the main symptoms, which thankfully were only mild (in that respect I'd take a test to confirm such or otherwise), and if I have had it, clearly my immune system was able to effectively deal with it. TBH, I've had far worse flu - and I don't even take the jab for that!
Therefore, come what may again in future, in respect of Coronavirus, I'm perfectly happy to let my immune system deal with it (as I'm fit, strong, healthy and still reasonably young), than be injected with a vaccine I don't consider is safe and that contains goodness knows what, or effective. Jeez, we don't even have a vaccine yet for previous Coronaviruses, such as SARS-CoV1 or MERS, and after 40-odd years we still don't have an effective one for HIV, and for good reason, as creating a 100% safe and effective vaccine for any virus or disease is hugely time-consuming and complex.
Watch this video from US virologist, Dr Djaballah, who explains the challenges of creating an effective and safe vaccine, and why they often don't work! It contains some very good and useful information:
https://youtu.be/LVBc7-Te_yA
And in terms of fear, the most important fear we need to address RIGHT NOW, as the cancer specialist said on This Morning, is the fear many people have of leaving their homes and in slowly returning to normal life, particularly the elderly who are still fit enough to get out and about, but are too scared to do so, and the danger *that* is having - and longer it goes on, will continue to have, on their mental health.
Marco.
Junior minister Douglas Ross has resigned after Dominic Cummings' defence of his trip to County Durham during the coronavirus lockdown.
Mr Ross, Under Secretary of State for Scotland, said the senior aide's view of the government guidance was "not shared by the vast majority of people".
Mr Cummings has explained why he drove 260 miles in March from his home to his parents' farm with his wife and child.
No 10 said the prime minister regretted Mr Ross' decision to stand down.
In a statement announcing his resignation, Mr Ross, who remains Tory MP for Moray, said: "While the intentions may have been well meaning, the reaction to this news shows that Mr Cummings interpretation of the government advice was not shared by the vast majority of people who have done as the government asked."
"I have constituents who didn't get to say goodbye to loved ones; families who could not mourn together; people who didn't visit sick relatives because they followed the guidance of the government.
"I cannot in good faith tell them they were all wrong and one senior adviser to the government was right."
A No 10 spokesman said: "The prime minister would like to thank Douglas Ross for his service to government and regrets his decision to stand down as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Scotland."
a man of decency and dignity.. well done

Yes, there may be a second wave, but now that we know more about what we're dealing with, we should be better prepared, in terms of being able to ISOLATE (crucial in the early stages) and contain it.
I think we probably agree on several points: crucially that a vaccine may never be developed, and therefore humanity needs to finds ways of living as safely and normally as possible in its absence. Where we differ fundamentally is on the conspiracy theory stuff. To me, all the evidence points to (multiple) cock-ups, starting with the Chinese government's initial denial that COVID existed at all. That was IMO about 'saving face' rather than some dastardly plot to overthrow the West. Similarly, the UK government's decision to abandon track and trace was probably due to complacency (eg because SARS had almost zero impact here) rather than because they wanted lots of people to become infected so they could impose lockdown.
With HIV, there is as you say no vaccine, but medical science didn't therefore say 'oh, well, we might as well give up and let people die'; instead they worked on treatments that meant that deaths from HIV/AIDS have fallen dramatically from the peak year of 2004:
https://www.unaids.org/en/resources/fact-sheet
'AIDS-related deaths
AIDS-related deaths have been reduced by more than 56% since the peak in 2004.
In 2018, around 770 000 [570 000–1.1 million] people died from AIDS-related illnesses worldwide, compared to 1.7 million [1.3 million–2.4 million] in 2004 and 1.2 million [860 000–1.6 million] in 2010.
AIDS-related mortality has declined by 33% since 2010.'
HIV is treated with anti-viral drugs, which may be an effective way of containing COVID if a vaccine does not emerge, and will probably be better than just hoping that enough people develop immunity to minimise the impact of a second wave. If a second wave does happen, it will probably come in the autumn/winter, when more people fall ill anyway, and when hospital beds are already nearly full. We were 'lucky' that the first wave hit us in Spring, and we hopefully have several months to build capacity and re-stock on PPE.
In the meantime, governments around the world emerging from lockdown are having to learn as they go along from the mistakes and successes of other countries. What is clear is that those countries which a) rigorously tracked and traced infected people from the outset and b) locked down quickly and thoroughly have had fewer cases and a much lower death rate than countries such as the UK and the US which have essentially just bumbled along.

Even funnier, was last night watching 'Hapless Hancock' squirm, trying to defend the indefensible behaviour of Cummings, as every question he faced from the public or media was in reference to his colleague's shenanigans, rather than on the nightly government mind-control (straight out of the pages of an NLP book) he'd rather have delivered to the now, as a result of the government's double standards (mostly highly suspicious, less prone to being brainwashed or subservient) masses...

It's interesting that the 'hate' figures identified by Marco (the WHO, Fauci, Bill Gates) have all fallen out big-time with Trump over COVID. Why, it's almost as if the COVID conspiracy sites were being run by Trump supporters.
There's some crossover certainly. Along with that bunch who think that UN troops are going to come along to their ranches and disarm them. It's a colourful world.

Morning folks!:)
Ok, you've inadvertently hit upon something very interesting - and could be RIGHT, but not in the way you think... I know you don't believe any of the 'conspiracy theories' floating around, and that's your prerogative. You're entitled to your opinion, as much as anyone else. Many of them *are* bollox. My intention therefore isn't to change your mind, as I know that won't happen, but rather to get people (you or anyone else) to *consider* a potential alternative version of reality.
I said a while back, in slightly different words, that you can only see where things are going if you're aware of where the journey might end... If so, crucial parts of the 'jigsaw' that otherwise may on the surface seem unconnected, start slotting into place.... So with that in mind, let's first consider that Trump is thought of by many as being anti-establishment, and crucially the ENEMY of the global elite. *That* is the KEY to understanding what's happening, if the 'conspiracy theorists' are right.
There is a suggestion in some places that Trump was put into power as president of the US to ensure that Hilary Clinton didn't get in [as she was considered as being a key member of the establishment, the same as her husband, and would therefore have pushed the elite's agenda], so that he could commence plans to dismantle and eradicate the global elite (I'll get to who they are in a minute, as you keep asking) and those with nefarious intentions of achieving world rule, and of course who are said to be behind much of what's happening now in respect of this pandemic, and the global lockdown surrounding it.
Therefore, with that in mind, Trump falling out with Fauci, the WHO and Gates over COVID (and now threatening to shutdown Twitter and Facebook) starts to make sense... I'm not saying they (the 'conspiracy theorists') are right, but if looking at it that way, some of the dots join up. The Twitter and Facebook thing [also YouTube] is because Trump believes that their respective owners are part of the establishment, and therefore wish to protect their best interests, which is why they've been shutting down 'free speech' and removing anything that challenges the establishment agenda.
Now in that respect, you can either think that taking down and censoring discussions about 'dodgy vaccines', etc, and anything else that doesn't fit with what they (the establishment) want people to believe, and purport as being 'dangerous to public health', is the correct thing to do, if you don't believe in the 'conspiracy theories' - or if you take a different view, the one I suspect Trump is taking, in that the social media platforms in question are doing MORE HARM than good, in terms of preventing him from taking power away from and dismantling the global elite (or 'deep state', as it's sometimes referred to), by applying censorship to anything that threatens the truth from getting out about what *actually* could be happening, then you can see some logic in it.
Now, I'm not saying I'm right. I'm simply applying some lateral thinking/a different perspective to the situation, in order to ascertain whether what's happening now, and the situation we currently find ourselves in, might be rather different form what the 'powers that be' want us to believe.
So...... In terms of 'who are this shadowy elite'? Well, for obvious reasons, the individuals concerned haven't stood up and identified themselves! However, essentially they're represented by the most wealthy families in the world, Rothschilds, Rockefellers, etc (the VERY top few percent of the richest people in the world), and in that respect, our Royal Family come into that equation.
I found this interesting video last night on YouTube about who Bill Gates was before his involvement with Microsoft, and you may find it interesting who his family were heavily connected with, his father in particular, given who I've just been talking about, and also the background of his mother, plus his overall rather shadowy past. The Twitter and Facebook thing [also YouTube] is because Trump believes that their respective owners are part of the establishment, and therefore wish to protect their best interests, which is why they've been shutting down 'free speech' and removing anything that challenges the establishment agenda.
Now in that respect, you can either think that taking down and censoring discussions about 'dodgy vaccines', etc, and anything else that doesn't fit with what they (the establishment) want people to believe, and purport as being 'dangerous to public health', is the correct thing to do, if you don't believe in the 'conspiracy theories' - or if you take a different view, the one I suspect Trump is taking, in that the social media platforms in question are doing MORE HARM than good, in terms of preventing him from taking power away from and dismantling the elite, by applying censorship to anything that threatens the truth from getting out about what *actually* could be happening, then you can see some logic in it.
However, essentially they're represented by the most wealthy families in the world, Rothschilds, etc (the VERY top few percent of the richest people in the world), and in that respect, our Royal Family come into that equation.
I found this interesting video last night on YouTube about who Bill Gates was before his involvement with Microsoft, and you may find it interesting who his family were heavily connected with, his father in particular, given who I've just been talking about, and also the background of his mother, plus his overall rather shadowy past. Watch for yourself:

Marco.
America is a strange place, they twist the normality we are comfortable with, as what is Left and Right politics, and turn it around to be the exact opposite of the rest of the world.
Republicans temporarily borrow wording we associate with Left politics, but then don't follow with actions..... Zappa often talked about the Republican trick,
here in lyrics to his song, When the Lies so BIG https://genius.com/Frank-zappa-when-the-lies-so-big-lyrics
As example The Republicans are the conservative party, but Trump would have you believe the Republicans represent working American's.
If they indeed support working Americans you would think would support Health care for everyone, it would make sense to look after the American people,
...yet Trump has torn down every aspect of health care, promising everything but delivering nothing " "We're gonna terminate health care...."
Whereas the Democrats ... if we mistook that they are the elite which they are not , plainly would not support Health care- yet they do.

I totally see where you're coming from, Chris, and in some ways think you're right.
However, in terms of the theory I've just put forward, it's very important to firmly fixate on the notion that 'Trump is on a mission to dismantle and eradicate the elite'. Until that's been achieved, nothing else is more important to him, while subsequently minimising, as far as possible, any 'collateral damage' inflicted upon those whose best interests he's trying to serve. In effect, some lateral thinking must be applied, as well as suppressing any hatred of trump (for other justified reasons), perhaps as a result of being inadvertently brainwashed by the agenda of the global elite, as presented by the mainstream media.
Therefore, could Trump mean "terminate health care", in the sense of what it represents in its current form, i.e. controlled by the 'big pharma' [the kind Gates influences and supports], as they're often referred to, with their nefarious intentions, who could be 'in the pockets' of the global elite? And then afterwards, that control given to someone else with a more ethical and humanitarian agenda? Thus returning control, as it were, to the people.
And conversely, could the Democrats [who arguably represent the interests of the global elite] be "supporting health care", in an abstract sense, because it's essentially run and controlled by the 'big pharma', and therefore that suits their agenda?
Again, I'm not saying I'm right, and I don't know a great deal about US politics, but it would at least fit the theory I've just presented, and therefore, if I am right in that respect, then one needs to look at the bigger picture and view things from a rather different perspective.
Marco.
As example The Republicans are the conservative party, but Trump would have you believe the Republicans represent working American's.
And Boris would have you believe that the Tories represent working-class Britons. They don't.
But actually, the US situation is very different from ours. The Republicans led the fight against slavery (Abraham Lincoln was a Republican), and Southern Democrats were far more right-wing, certainly in terms of racial policies, up until the 1960s. It was JFK, and then LBJ, who took on the Southern Democrats, and the Republicans, under Nixon and his successors, veered to the right to pick up the votes of those who thought the Democrats were becoming more 'socialist' (though nowhere near as socialist as Britain became after WW2). The Democrats have for a long time been split between the likes of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, the latter representing the more radical approach, and Trump has cashed in on this split.
I totally see where you're coming from, Chris, and in some ways think you're right. However, in terms of the theory I've just presented, it's very important to firmly fixate on the notion that 'Trump is on a journey to dismantle and eradicate the elite'. o.
Trump's not on a journey to anywhere.
Now, I'm not saying I'm right. I'm simply applying some lateral thinking/a different perspective to the situation, in order to ascertain whether what's happening now, and the situation we currently find ourselves in, might be rather different form what the 'powers that be' want us to believe.
So, to protect free speech, it's necessary to destroy it?
It's not so much that I don't believe conspiracy theories, more that they are often mutually contradictory. As I mentioned up-thread, one theory (and the one favoured by Trump), is that the virus was created in a Chinese lab and inadvertently or deliberately released. If deliberately released, this was with the aim of destroying the West. Other theories suggest that the virus is just 'bad flu', and that Big Pharma has exaggerated its severity so that they can make lots of money. Or, again, that it's all a plot by Bill Gates to implant everyone with microchips. Then you have the David Icke 'it's all done via G5 phone masts' theory, though he's such an obvious lunatic that he can be safely ignored, or laughed at. Now, they can't all be right, but they might all be wrong. The virus might just be a virus that leaped from animals to humans, as many have done over the centuries, and scientists, medics and politicians are having to learn as they go along precisely how the virus is transmitted, how it effects individuals, and how it can best be controlled. In all this, there are conflicting interests between businesses who want to keep making money, medics who want to keep people safe, and politicians who want to remain popular. The latter will take any credit for what goes right, and shift the blame for anything that goes wrong, preferably on to 'experts'.
The other problem with conspiracy theories is that they suggest both that an all-powerful elite controls everything and that anyone who poses as anti-establishment is a) genuine and b) able to overcome the supposedly all-powerful elite. Now, if I was a member of a powerful elite, the very first thing I'd do would be to create an 'anti-establishment' candidate, and make damn sure he won all the necessary elections. Otherwise, what's the point of being powerful? This candidate could then close down dissenting media, dismiss any experts who said the wrong things, and claim that his political enemies were 'traitors'. Funnily enough, the Trump approach is beginning to look more and more like that of the Chinese government, which heavily censors the media, locks up dissenters, and doesn't allow any opposition.

Yes I see your point too about the big pharma. Trump if he is on that journey to eradicate the elite, is only being used as a petty pawn, in fact a soon to be discarded pawn by his own party, as there is nothing more they desire, than money elitism and using humanity for their own aims at what ever cost that is. Hence my reference to Frank Zappa's very clever lyrics.
Some statistics to mull over are 35 world conflicts in the last 100 years commenced by Republican administrations and 23 by Democrats. The aim should be zero ... lets see if that can happen ?
What is disturbing is the lack of proper planning to eradicate Covid 19 , it could have been a moment where everyone stayed at home, where borders closed , but we see, you would have to say is total stupidity, encouraging people back to work as though its all going to be right tomorrow. https://twitter.com/i/status/1264374557860716544
Trump's not on a journey to anywhere.
his only likely journey will be in a white van(maybe a Dodge Woodie in the states) if he's not careful..
. Funnily enough, the Trump approach is beginning to look more and more like that of the Chinese government, which heavily censors the media, locks up dissenters, and doesn't allow any opposition.
How can that be the Trump approach when the Constitution prevents him from doing any of those things?
The Trump approach is to talk nonsense day and night. That anybody still bothers to commentate on what he says let alone take it seriously baffles me.
A stand-alone President has very little power to do anything, at least post-Nixon. He no longer has a majority in Congress so all he can do is issue Executive Orders. Which in practice means he can do very little.
The US President is in no way analogous to a British Prime Minister. Look at the Constitution. The President is head of the Armed Forces. That's it. Even the Executive Orders were something that successive Presidents brought in gradually under the wire. A lot of sound and fury signifying nothing. Both from Trump and his detractors.
But it's something for the media to fill airtime with and the lefties to get all agitated about. As if they needed more to get agitated about which they don't of course. But they love it, bless them.
So, to protect free speech, it's necessary to destroy it?
I suspect only temporarily, to eradicate those who are corrupt and serving the agenda of the elite. I suspect that Trump's view is that it's more important to stop those who are hiding (what he believes) represents the REAL truth, than in allowing said social media platforms to continue with their censorship, even if it's also in some ways counterproductive.
Allowing such censorship to continue would fundamentally scupper his plan, in that if everyone is brainwashed into believing that any attack on the behaviour of the authorities simply represents a 'conspiracy theory', then it'd be much harder for him to get people to 'wake up'. I guess it comes down to choosing your priorities, in terms of temporarily winning the battles you know you can win, before emerging victorious, after having won the WAR...
I'll get to the rest later, as once again I have a busy day ahead in the garden! Until then, however, aren't you at all suspicious about how heavily Gates' father was involved with the Rockefellers? Was that simply a 'happy accident'? Have you actually watched the video in full??
And what was Epstein doing there, I wonder? Another 'happy accident'? Perhaps Gates is also involved in sex trafficking, and as guilty as no doubt (to anyone who isn't stupid or blinded by patriotism) Prince Andrew is? Maybe someone should take a look into that in more detail...?
But of course, if so, it'll all have been 'hushed up' or swept under the carpet, as happened with Saville and Dando. Quite simply, no matter the extent of the 'dodgy dealings' of the rich, powerful and well-connected of this world, one way or another they're always protected, and so get away with it. However, one day I firmly believe that they'll get their comeuppance...
As the girl in the above video said (and btw, some of the content there is extremely damning of Gates and his whole involvement in this pandemic, especially 'his' dubious vaccine): every time you go down a rabbit hole, for some reason there's always the same creatures lurking at the bottom.... And I'm NOT buying for one second that that's all simply an 'unfortunate coincidence'!

Well, as I said, I *really hope* that you're right, so we'll see... Perhaps at the moment the 'good guys' (on Trump's side), and who currently occupy important and influential positions in American business and politics, outweigh the bad, i.e. those facilitating the agenda of the elite, and so Trump doesn't need to have 'full power', in order to fulfil his plan?;)
It's been suggested that lawsuits have been filed against a number of high-level businessmen and leading politicians in America, guilty of many illegalities and corruption, with proof to back that up, and which are 'ready to go', as soon as it's deemed as the right time to push the button (apparently around mid to end of June), and that arrests will follow. Therefore, if true, the shit's about to hit the fan, BIG TIME...
Essentially, the same technology, which has for years been used to covertly spy on us, has been successfully used by 'us' to covertly spy on them, and that's where the evidence has come from, showing that some truly 'big bugs' have been very, VERY bad boys!!
Right, must dash......:)

I think Trump's only concern is to stop anyone saying anything remotely bad about him, and that he doesn't give a flying fuck about press freedom, or combatting 'the elite'.
I'll get to the rest later, as once again I have a busy day ahead in the garden! Until then, however, aren't you at all suspicious about how heavily Gates' father was involved with the Rothschilds? Was that simply a 'happy coincidence'? Have you actually watched the video in full??

Yes, I've watched the video in full, twice in fact. I don't find anything suspicious about Gates' father being involved with the Rockefellers. (The video doesn't mention the Rothschilds at all, as far as I can see). Rich people tend to know other rich people.
As for Bill Gates himself, he's obviously a very clever bloke who's made lots of money through giving people what they want; specifically, personal computers like the ones you and I are using. The richest person in the world is currently Jeff Bezos, head of Amazon, who also made lots of money through giving people what they want; in his case, the ability to buy almost anything and have it delivered to your door in a matter of a day or two. That's how people make fortunes. To do that you need to be a) clever and b) driven. Very clever and driven people can come across as being a bit weird; indeed the video's narrator seemed to find Gates' nerdiness incredibly amusing, whereas it's actually a large part of what made him successful.
Sorry, my mistake - I meant Rockefellers. Now amended...:) We'll have to disagree in terms of there not being a suspicious connection between them though, certainly one a little less simplistic than you've offered.
Gates is undoubtedly a nerd, and I highly suspect, autistic. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but it can be when the skills it provides you with naturally are abused....
As for your other points, I'll get to those later. It's interesting that you should mention Amazon!;)
Marco.
Trump has no future plan other than to Win in November and avoid jail. (and next nappy change)
If Democrats have both the House and the Senate He’s going down.
Right now it’s a Fire Sale for power and money.
Couple of things:
# Where does Russia fit into this conspiracy narrative, given they were intrinsic to the 2016 Election result (and are at it again)
# Be careful which dots you try to join in your head, as your brain’s tries to see meaning and certainty in times of not being in control of your environment.
Its biology and what your psychology does to protect itself.
Taken far enough the self perception becomes real.
Far too easy to go down the Rabbit Hole...
...yes, and of course that applies to *everyone*, 'believers in conspiracy theories' and otherwise!;)
*Everyone* has the propensity to for their "self-perception to become real", or to put it another way: become 'slaves to their belief system'. It cuts BOTH ways, not just towards the views that you disagree with...
We've been here before mate, when you posted that link to the article on 'Why we love a conspiracy theory", and my response to you there is the same as it is to you now:)
Marco.

So a thought worth repeating.

And, of course, we know what happened with the original 'person down a rabbit-hole'; she woke up and it had all been a dream.
stick a ferret down; that'll clear it:eyebrows:

Well, there are also strong links to both being supporters of eugenics: https://tottnews.com/2020/04/09/gates-family-eugenics-covid-19/
So perhaps that could be the connection? Of course I expect you to completely dismiss that notion;)
There is also a lot of other interesting info on that site about Gates.
The richest person in the world is currently Jeff Bezos, head of Amazon, who also made lots of money through giving people what they want; in his case, the ability to buy almost anything and have it delivered to your door in a matter of a day or two.
...or what they've been brainwashed/manipulated into *believing* is what they want, as a result of subliminal advertising and other forms of imposed behavioural pressure, often via the use of technology - and crucially - at significant devastating cost to town centres and many small businesses, who can't afford to compete on price, whilst also capitalising on people's inherent laziness, desire for convenience, and to pay the cheapest price possible, regardless of all else.
Sometimes people get what they DESERVE....
However, is the former a genuinely good thing and an overall advancement in our society, in REAL terms? Well, I guess that depends on your mindset and/or what best fits your lifestyle. Aside from anything else, I consider it as a dangerous trend (subsequently setting an even more dangerous precedent), essentially having ONE HUGE company in control of so many of the goods that we buy.
And I believe it's also dangerous, indeed even more so, having so much of the world's wealth spread among so few people, and Gates is the prime example, as it's simply too tempting to let the power that sort of wealth brings go to your head!
Marco.

This is a basic misapprehension, economics isn't a zero sum game. Just because one man has a lot of money doesn't mean there is less for everyone else.

Its the seekin and thus the desire of wealth for the power it brings is the danger!
This is a basic misapprehension, economics isn't a zero sum game. Just because one man has a lot of money doesn't mean there is less for everyone else.
Exactly, and that's what I meant. The danger's not the money, but the amount of control and power it potentially can bring to be abused.
The money is simply the tool that provides the power; it's the power, and with it the ability to rule people, which is ultimately what corrupts! And in that respect, no ONE person should be allowed to have a personal wealth* of multiple billions. It's simply obscene, and of course dangerous..
It should be capped at a certain level, TBH, long before it hits ONE billion, and the rest distributed to charitable organisations or reinvested into genuine humanitarian needs for society.
Marco.
*Note that this excludes business working capital.

Indeed!
Unfortunetly its a human trait to want to control. The technology we really have, [not the bollox given to us ie; smart phones, and social media, mainly to waste as much of our time as possible] when put to good use, could vastly transform this world, and all our lives for the better.

Absolutely. The focus should be on technology SERVING US (for the greater good of man), not on us serving *it*!

The problem is that while some capping/levelling of wealth is a good idea, it would only work if every country agreed to impose the same limits, as otherwise wealth would simply move from a higher tax to a lower tax country. There are plenty of tiny countries such as the Cayman Islands which happily accommodate individuals and companies wanting to pay less tax.
Most (broadly-speaking) conservative governments, including the Tories here, and Trump's Republican administration, currently favour tax cuts to stimulate growth, rather than tax increases to level out discrepancies in wealth, though it's unclear how any country will meet the costs of lockdown without raising taxes. Boris has ruled out both increasing taxes and reducing spending; indeed, his whole pitch to voters in the Midlands and North of England was based on greater government spending on projects such as HS2. I can't see how he'll square that particular circle.

Yes, I also agree. It has to be a collective effort. Just think how much money could be used to benefit mankind with such a move? It could end world homelessness and poverty!

You'd need to ask the families of the 38k+ dead for an opinion on that.
By the Government no longer classing Covid-19 as an HCID does not mean it isn’t dangerous or serious – it’s just that it no longer meets the closely-defined criteria for an HCID.
The 4 nations public health HCID group made an interim recommendation in January 2020 to classify COVID-19 as an HCID. This was based on consideration of the UK HCID criteria about the virus and the disease with information available during the early stages of the outbreak. Now that more is known about COVID-19, the public health bodies in the UK have reviewed the most up to date information about COVID-19 against the UK HCID criteria. They have determined that several features have now changed; in particular, more information is available about mortality rates (low overall), and there is now greater clinical awareness and a specific and sensitive laboratory test, the availability of which continues to increase.
The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) is also of the opinion that COVID-19 should no longer be classified as an HCID.

You can't make this up.
Son in Law is plod. 5 days ago he has to attend a woman who has died of a suspected heart attack whilst sat on the crapper. ( A sympton of an impending heart attack is indeed to have a dump)
As a first responder he is obliged to attempt mouth to mouth resus etc. etc.
He is then told that he cant have a covid test but must wait for a test result on the dead woman. He is then told that he cant have her result because as she has no next of kin to give permission the health authority can't give it.
5 days after this episode his superior manages to get a std covid test for him by really rattling the the walls of those that say yes. we are now waiting to get the result ( and we are expecting it to be negative to be fair)
Is he allowed to go into isolation that'll be no.... (surprise surprise) and he was forced to be back on shift the next day. you really can't make this up.. oh and no antibody test as routine either.
(surprise surprise) and he was forced to be back on shift the next day. you really can't make this up.. oh and no antibody test as routine either.
yes its a disgrace, and no, it doesnt surprise me. the guff they come away with at their co vid time talk is just sound bites... most of it is pie in sky; they are loosening the lockdown and have no real track n trace available
I think that this is a fairly balanced overall view of proceedings, and how we can effectively get through this pandemic: https://www.aol.co.uk/news/2020/06/02/coronavirus-three-ways-the-pandemic-could-play-out/?ncid=webmail
As long as the number of cases and deaths from COVID-19 continue to fall, and there isn't a *genuine* second wave (backed up by real-life evidence, not government propaganda), I vote for a combination of 'suppression and containment', in the short to medium term, and eventually (as determined by nature), the virus largely being defeated by herd immunity, or it simply naturally 'petering out'.
In that scenario, for me there would be no morally (or otherwise) justified requirement for any vaccine, rushed through the system for dubious reasons, and which in my view would be unsafe and not properly tested. If a *truly* safe and effective one materialises in due course, which ticks ALL the RIGHT boxes, however, then great, but otherwise no - and certainly not one that's been 'blessed by Bill Gates'!:nono:
So let's see how things pan out in the coming weeks...
If the cases/admissions to hospital, and crucially deaths from Coronavirus, continue to fall, it'll be interesting to see whether the main focus of the government remains on continuing to restart the economy/easing lockdown and getting life (and business) back to as normal as possible, whilst maintaining sensible precautions containing and stopping the spread of the virus [the RIGHT thing to happen], or suddenly becomes fixated on a mass vaccination of the population, by any which means necessary, in order to end the lockdown [the WRONG thing to happen], should such a vaccine 'miraculously' emerge in the coming weeks, and be ready for rolling out in the required doses...
For me, that would ably reveal whether the establishment agenda/goal, I forecasted earlier, has any real substance or not....!

I'm sure I read today that North Wales is now a "hot spot" spike. Wales in a % per 100, 000 is second in the entire UK for infections I don't give one for conspiracy theories, I'll just hold my arm out and say Spike me Bro... Spike me..
That does indeed seem a sensible, balanced summary. It's clear that there's no real consensus about the risk of a second wave, but 'safety first' would seem the best way to proceed. As far as a vaccine is concerned, even the most optimistic scenario suggests that testing would not be completed until late September, after which it would take several months to ramp up production. The jabs would be given firstly to those most at risk (healthcare workers, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions). Mass vaccination may never be needed if it emerges that the vast majority of young, healthy people suffer only minor symptoms or are asymptomatic. For them, herd immunity might be appropriate.
There's a danger that the virus will mutate into an even more deadly strain that has serious effects even for younger healthy people, so the more testing and tracing the better.
This link (shamelessly lifted from pfm) shows how an individual's risk from COVID increases according to such factors as age, ethnicity, BMI and underlying medical conditions:
https://alama.org.uk/covid-19-medical-risk-assessment/

Yes, apparently because North Wales hasn't yet had its peak of the virus, so that's the reason for the 'hot-spot' spike, although I can see little real-world evidence of such within our social circles or local community. Instead, hardly anyone we know has had the virus, and no-one we know has suffered from a severe reaction to it, least of all died - and the same applies to those who the people we know, know, etc...
As an aside, here's a thing... Out of the entire membership of AoS, or even just the regulars, who do we know who's suffered seriously from Covid-19, or died from it? No-one I know of... What about on the other main forums, pfm or the WAM? And that for me, even using that small sample of the population as an example, casts question marks on how serious the situation with this virus *actually is* for the overwhelmingly vast majority of us.
I guess that's largely because they/we don't fit the demographic of those who are most at risk from it, but I still think that there is a distinct tendency for the government to paint a falsely alarming picture of the situation. It's worrying, yes, *if* you're old and/or have an underlying serious health condition, but otherwise, for the vast majority of the population, IMO, no. For us, it's a case of taking sensible precautions, but panicking or worrying about catching a 'fatal virus', to the extent that it rules our lives and prevents us from functioning normally, within the current restrictions or otherwise, definitely NOT.
Also, in terms of the % per 100k figure, for Wales as a whole, do remember that that figure is significantly influenced by the large number of cases reported in vastly more heavily populated South Wales, particularly around major cities, such as Cardiff, Swansea and Newport, and which accordingly has grossly inflated the overall figure for Wales.
There are no major cities in North Wales (most of the area is rural), with Wrexham by far having the largest population (as both a town and county), and with currently only 565 reported deaths, out of a total population of 136,000.
In terms of being "spiked", carry on if you wish, and the best of luck! :goodluck:

...or there is a distinct drive by the government to have it done, regardless, for the reasons I've previously outlined. Then you'd get the biggest indication yet that there's something, to put it mildly, 'slightly fishy' going on!
That said, we're entirely in agreement, and thanks for the link:)

Robert Jenrick, the housing minister says he is committed to enforcing the 14 day quarantine for arrivals into the UK.
Hold on..........He's the HOUSING MINISTER! What the heck has he got to do with the health and security of the nation? And anyway, isn't he the guy who broke the lockdown to visit his parents? That got smartly swept under the carpet!!

Not sure about that. If Sturgeon relaxes the rules and the island ferries start running again, hordes will flood over the border, and there'll be loads of cars and camper vans to block the roads up in the north of Scotland.

I believe the plan is to introduce border controls, manned by kilted Glaswegians, armed with 'chibs', who'll be testing Sassenachs, approaching the Scottish borders, on their knowledge on the history of Irn Bru. Anything less than a 90% pass rate will subsequently result in refused entry and a swift boot in the baws.

Yeah, they turn up every now and then to check. The electricity meter's easy enough to read, but the gas meter's behind a cupboard in the hall (which usually has a pile of garden tools, gloves and paperwork on it) that has to be moved so the meter can be seen. There's also the option of taking a photo of the meters on a smartphone and sending them the photo, but I haven't got a smartphone.
think mine came once.. bulb are a good company.. they give purely green energy to me as well..at a very decent price and they dont take the piss. they also reduce there prices when they get cheaper fuel... cant ask for better.

They only read mine every 4 years or so. Mainly because they always call round in the middle of a week day when I'm out at work. You'd think they'd learn but they don't.
I never send them a reading but I suppose they don't care as they get their money by direct debit anyway. When they do read it I usually get a refund of about £400 as they always over-estimate.

Yes I remember you mentioning that. It's lunacy. Still, I'd imagine that your energy usage will be a little higher than usual, given that you've been home during the lockdown?
It's negligible for us [we can monitor the difference on the smart meter], as I'm normally home anyway, and with the good weather, 90% of the cooking we've been doing has been on the BBQ, plus we've not had any heating on since before the lockdown, and won't need any now until autumn.

Yes bound to be a bit more, two computers and a monitor on that wouldn't be on normally, although I don't suppose they use much. And I have to boil the kettle occasionally to make tea so I suppose that will add a bit. But that's about it. Might add a fiver a week to the leccy bill but more than compensated for by the £45 a week I'm saving on travel expenses.
What about your TV being on for longer than normal, and your hi-fi system, presuming neither is left switched on when not in use? Plus, isn't your cooker being used more to make meals, or has it been McDonalds and KFC all the way?:D

'Great meals fade in reflection. Everything else gains. Do you know why? 'Cause it's only food. This shit we put in us, keeps us going - it's only food.' - Ricky Roma
What I've had today so far - Blueberry muffin, bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes, packet of pork scratchings, half a pint of full fat milk, two ham sandwiches, and a 'Frijj' chocolate milkshake. And about five or six cups of tea, Yorkshire, no milk or sugar.
Will order a curry in a bit but you don't want to order too early in the evening because the jallop won't be properly infused and it'll be a bit tasteless. Usually wait until about 8pm but the later the better.

You may be right, as I've never tested it, but I have a strict rule of not eating much, if anything, after 7pm. I like to eat early, as it's healthier that way, so my main meals tend to be at lunch time.

Yeah, a BUCKETLOAD of salt! However, enjoy what you enjoy. I think you'd prefer proper crackling on some roast pork, which is similar, much tastier, and a bit better for you. More seriously now, I note that things are 'progressing nicely', in terms of funding being raised for a 'Gates approved' vaccine: https://www.theguardian.com/society/2020/jun/04/uk-chairs-vaccine-summit-against-backdrop-of-us-china-battle
And so who's the founder of 'GAVI, The Vaccine Alliance', I wonder, where this £6bn will be going? Hmm.. Our friend, self-confessed 'philanthropist', and all-round good guy, BILL GATES, of course!
More here: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8388205/Boris-Johnson-urges-countries-work-vaccine-summit.html
Key quote from the above Mail article...
Boris Johnson: "To defeat the coronavirus we must focus our collective ingenuity on the search for a vaccine and ensure that countries, pharmaceutical companies and international partners - like the World Health Organisation - co-operate on a scale beyond anything we have seen before. We must use the collective purchasing power of Gavi, the vaccine alliance, to make that future vaccine affordable and available to all who need it."
The clash between Johnson and Trump, over the WHO, is interesting, given the point I made earlier about Trump's fallout with the same organisation, as a result of seeing how corrupt (China-centric) they were, while seeking to fulfil his quest to usurp the global elite. Well, Boris Johnson clearly has different ideas!
Yet more 'dots' now joined...... As predicted, watch out for the introduction of a 'vaccine' for COVID-19, coming your way soon. Don't worry, folks, it'll be totally safe and not contain any 'questionable ingredients', Billy-boy and the WHO say so, so get ready to open your veins and LET THE GOODNESS DRIP IN....
Marco.
I'm reminded of these lyrics by Pink Floyd:
"Okay Just a little pinprick
There'll be no more, ah
But you may feel a little sick
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working, good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go..."

The clash between Johnson and Trump, over the WHO, is interesting, given the point I made earlier about Trump's fallout with the same organisation, as a result of seeing how corrupt (China-centric) they were, while seeking to fulfil his quest to usurp the global elite.
And yet, Trump spoke at Gavi:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52930319
'US President Donald Trump made a surprise appearance at the virtual global vaccine summit.
Last week, Mr Trump severed ties with the UN's health agency, the World Health Organization, stopping around $400m (£317m) in support, after accusing it and China of mishandling the outbreak.
There was international criticism of the decision, particularly because it was made in the middle of a global pandemic.
But at the summit, Mr Trump struck a different tone in what was a very brief and seemingly very off-the-cuff, pre-recorded message.
"As the coronavirus has shown, there are no borders, it doesn't discriminate," he said.
"It's mean, it's nasty but we're going to take care of it together.... We will work hard, we will work strong... good luck, let's get the answer."'
So maybe he's all part of this dastardly plot.
But Gavi isn't just about COVID:
https://www.theguardian.com/society/2020/jun/04/uk-chairs-vaccine-summit-against-backdrop-of-us-china-battle
'So far, Gavi has helped to immunize over 760 million children and has prevented more than 13 million deaths, helping to halve child mortality in 73 developing countries. It also plays a key role in improving global health security by supporting health systems as well as funding global stockpiles of vaccines to fight Ebola, cholera, meningitis, and yellow fever.
Research published last week by the Gavi showed that coronavirus had diverted health workers so that the routine vaccine programme was being blown off course. The disruptive effect of the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the normal vaccine programme led to twice as many dying from measles as Ebola.'
Sweeties and/or crisps? Bad boy, that shit's not good for you!:spank: ;)
Aside from that, I think the role of the cooker (and its importance), is rather different in our respective kitchens!:D

Yebbut you're married to your cooker!

Our grill stopped working just before lockdown. I thought it would be a major problem, but we've found that almost everything we would normally grill can be oven-baked or fried instead.

I suspect that Trump attended the summit simply to 'show face', as PM of the US, and use it as an opportunity to score political points (by portraying some kind of superficial solidarity with those in question), which I believe he was doing in the bit you quoted:
"We will work hard, we will work strong... good luck, let's get the answer", could be interpreted in different ways, depending on your viewpoint. Trump is historically guilty of doublespeak.
Therefore, I'd interpret that as him saying 'We'll work hard to beat the virus, but *I'LL* be the one finding the answer'. That 'answer' being one which doesn't suit the agenda of the the WHO, GAVI, or anyone else inadvertently (or otherwise) working for the global elite.
The thing is, sometimes he's got to be seen as being reasonable, rather than always 'out there', raging against the orthodox, as ultimately it protects his credibility and keeps his voters on side. Therefore, Trump's appearance at the summit, and his subsequent comments, hasn't altered my opinion of what I believe his ultimate goal is.
As for your quote from GAVI - yeah, that's essentially just a sales pitch!
If you examine Gates' track record to date with vaccines for various diseases, in the likes of India and Africa, and in particular in the former with 'cancer vaccines', you'll see that there have been some serious causes for concern: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2908963/Judges-demand-answers-children-die-controversial-cancer-vaccine-trial-India.html
If you do some further proper digging around (not just superficially) there's enough credible evidence around outlining his questionable 'dubious practices' with vaccines, which for me have never been properly debunked or factually disproven (by any truly independent, unbiased authorities), to convince me that I wouldn't TOUCH THEM WITH A BARGEPOLE - and so that includes any that his foundations may claim in due course as being the new 'cure' for Coronavirus!
Marco.
Yebbut you're married to your cooker!
Not me, Del. I just eat the stuff cooked on it!

Sure, but you can't replicate the flavour of grilled meat, via any other process. You can ensure it's cooked, yes, but that's not the same. And for me with food, it's either right or not. And I don't 'do' not;)
It's one of the reasons why I love having BBQs, as the flavour of charcoal grilling meat, in particular, especially things like homemade burgers, or anything with fat on it, is quite unique.
Marco.
Sorry, explain?

Lol - I know others and you are a big fan of that. And I totally understand why, plus I've seen the great chips it makes!
But... A BBQ, or proper charcoal grill, it isn't! It's a convenience product, designed for a specific purpose and aimed at a certain market, and don't get me wrong, that's fine, but it wouldn't be for me (or especially Del):)
Marco.
You have one of those Grant? I was thinking about getting one. They look good in the ads but I don't trust that. Do you recommend it?

yes its a very versitile tool. good pressure cooker and can do chips, fish etc. can slow cook, saute too.. needs a bit of shelf space as it has 2 lids and one is attached all time and swings up.. the pressure lid is used with the grill lid in up position.
i
a bit of experimentation and use of the book, or plenty recipes on line for pretty much anything.
quite a few folk here have one now including Roy, Gary and Alex.
does a chicken perfect in about 40 mins

I'd recommend it, never mind Grant, as I've seen the results it produces, and think it'd suit your lifestyle perfectly:)
Marco.
Okay thanks, I'll move from 'interested' to 'seriously considering' then :)

So how does the 'BBQ/charcoal grill' side of it work?:)
The fact that you say it needs a lot of shelf space is only one of the reasons it'd be out for us, are our worktops are already full of other stuff, and will just be able to squeeze in the new coffee machine when it arrives!
The other slightly important reason, of course, is that we have about £15k worth of induction hobs, grills, warming-drawers and ovens sitting in our kitchen to be used!:D;)
Marco.

Exactly: you're married to the cooker; ie the person who does the cooking!
Okay thanks, I'll move from 'interested' to 'seriously considering' then :)
The chips it makes mate, are *just awesome*, and as far as I can see (Grant or Gaz would be able to comment better), there's no reason whatsoever why it couldn't replace a conventional cooker for someone who's living on their own and wants the minimum of faff.
Marco.

We eat very little meat these days (both daughters are veggie/vegan). I actually prefer sausages fried to grilled, with pork chops the reverse is true.
didnt say it had a bbq charcoal grill, but it can air fry or tbh if using the added rack can grill... also cooks bread etc if you want it to.. the american ones also do a drying function(like dried fruits etc), but we dont get that here; maybe its less common to do here
Exactly: you're married to the cooker; ie the person who does the cooking!
Indeed. Sorry for the confusion. We do work as a team with most things, though. I can assure you, when we have friends or family over for dinner, I'm nearly as busy as she is preparing the drinks and cocktails. setting the table [in the proper way I like it done], etc, as Del is cooking!:)
Marco.
didnt say it had a bbq charcoal grill...
Ah, that's what I thought you were on about when I was talking about barbecuing meat, and you said:
can do it in the foodi
A misunderstanding then. So the point I was making still stands: no way could we do without a proper grill, or a charcoal BBQ. You only have to look at the food thread to see how often they're used:)
Marco.
Sure I dont use a Bbq now. I used to have good small american one you could even use indoors. had a lid etc and was all stainless steel outside and base double walled so you could pick it up. only needed 8 bits of coal to run for 2/3 hrs.. marvelous thing. I gave it to my Bro
I would be interested in a char-grill you can use indoors, didn't know they existed. I have looked.

That's cool, each to his or her own. I do agree with the latter, though.
Del's a veggie (verging towards vegan), but that doesn't stop her cooking meat (or fish) for others or me, plus it means I'm never short of my '5-a-day', as I get to eat some of what she has, along with meat [although I'm happy sometimes to eat veggie meals on their own, as I love good salads and pasta, and pretty much all veg], and there's always a ton of fresh veg and fruit in the house!
Marco.

you just started it outside and once going well you could use inside. Need to find the name as If forgot... it came in a carry case so you could take it on trips and was pretty safe.
if it was raining i started it at back door then once going well i just moved it inside. the grease atc was channeled away so you didnt get big smokey plumes and flames.
you could smoke things too

And back on-topic, just breaking:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8391769/AstraZeneca-manufacturing-Covid-vaccine-three-countries.html
"Cambridge-based firm has doubled down on its *unproven* coronavirus vaccine..."
Note the "unproven" bit!!!
Get your veins ready for opening, folks, by September... So far, I don't see any reason for doubting the prediction I've made.
Marco.
From the article you posted:
'Pascal Soriot, chief executive of AstraZeneca, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: 'We are starting to manufacture this vaccine right now. And we have to have it ready to be used by the time we have the results.
'Of course, with this decision comes a risk but it is a financial risk and that financial risk is that if the vaccine doesn't work.
'We will find this out at the end of August, then all the materials, all the vaccines we have manufactured will be wasted.'
There's no point in developing a vaccine if it can't be produced in large numbers, quickly, once proven. The manufacturer accepts that there's a risk the vaccine doesn't work, and that it's 'back to the drawing board'. There's nothing to justify panic about 'compulsory vaccination' when this is specifically outlawed in current legislation!
The point is that the bloody thing's obviously nowhere near PROPERLY ready, so we shouldn't be hearing these conversations until it's done and dusted! So you have to ask yourself why? WHY THE RUSH? WHY ALL THE 'HOO-HAH'?
Has any other UNPROVEN vaccine for a serious virus been given such a big 'shove' to be produced and rolled out so quickly, especially one with such a low mortality rate in comparison with other much more serious and deadlier known diseases mankind has faced?
Jeez, you'd think they'd found a cure for cancer!
And in terms of "current legislation", the key word there is "current". That can soon be changed if the government give themselves a good enough excuse! Sorry, I understand your scepticism, but I see NOTHING to disprove the prediction I made earlier of how this pandemic is likely to unfold, only increasing evidence to justify it.
Marco.

Ours is the Max, and it has that option assuming it's the "Dehydrate" function (which I've never used.) I must admit I mainly use it for the whole chicken - 20 mins pressure cooked with rosemary and well seasoned, then 12 minutes Air Crisping with a garlic, lemon and balsamic glaze - comes out perfect every time. Need to get a bit more adventurous with it and try some new recipes, rather than just chickens and chips! But I would definitely recommend them.

I don't know what will happen, nor does anyone else, but I thought the Oxford University group were being wildly over-optimistic in their prediction of a successful, proven vaccine by September this year. Now they're back-pedalling as reality bites.
Including what Grant said, those are also all possible outcomes, but we'll see.

'So how did the founder of Microsoft, who has poured billions into global healthcare from the philanthropic foundation he runs with his wife Melinda, become the bogeyman of Covid-19 conspiracy theorists?
Prof Joseph Uscinski, a political scientist at the University of Miami and author of books on conspiracy theories, believes it is simply because he is rich and famous.
"Conspiracy theories are about accusing powerful people of doing terrible things," he told the BBC. "The theories are basically the same,
just the names change.
"Before Bill Gates, it was George Soros and the Koch brothers and the Rothchilds and the Rockefellers."
And while the majority of conspiracy theories "die on the vine", the ones that endure are those that offer "big villains and address issues that people care about".
"It should come as no surprise that rich people and big corporations are being accused of conspiring to put chips in our necks because that is a thing we fear," he said.
"This has been the ammo of conspiracy theories for a long, long time."
While he thinks such conspiracies have "no tether to the truth whatsoever", people still seem to be falling for them.

Yet you quote/refer to Daily Mail articles?
Only if it contains information I think is worth considering, just as Joe has done with his link to the BBC. It's not that I believe that what's contained in any newspaper article represents the truth, Daily Mail or otherwise, but that doesn't meant it doesn't warrant consideration.

Summat else you can't make up..
Like I said one son in law is plod, the other is BT openreach
He got sent to an address out of town yesterday to install 6 new secure top of the range internet access phone lines / whatever in what he says was not a Bio Tech facility.
Very strict security no mobiles etc etc.
but get this, he arrives, has his temperature taken and is given an unasked for covid swab test. He has to wait 40 mins in his van to be told he's negative.
So an important non biotech outfit has the facilities to process the test on site in 40mins or less but us mere mortals are expected to be herded and die like sheep.. you really can't make it up.

Sure, but that doesn't mean that the above aren't guilty of some of the things that they've been accused of. It could be that so far there hasn't been enough evidence to convict them, or it's been covered up. As usual Joe, you just want to believe what you want to believe, and pooh-pooh the rest. And it's getting rather tedious.
,
While he thinks such conspiracies have "no tether to the truth whatsoever", people still seem to be falling for them.
Or maybe, like me, they're deeply suspicious of anything that's considered as challenging the accepted norm, and automatically labelled as a "conspiracy theory", as potentially being a way of trying to cover up the truth? And in that respect, it's not us who are "falling" for anything, but those who refuse to entertain anything other than that which best fits with their bias.
That mindset cuts both ways.
More than a quarter of all Americans and 44% of Republicans believe that Bill Gates wants to use a Covid-19 vaccine to implant microchips under people's skin, according to a survey from Yahoo News and YouGov.'
Good. If there's *any* truth in it all, it might prevent it from happening. Anything that raises awareness of any potential wrongdoing by Gates (or anyone else) is fine by me!

Good for you, I don't! For me, they're both potentially as bad as each other, but if either of them reports on a story that I think deserves consideration, I'll consider it. It's called being openminded.

The idea of a vaccine containing a 'chip' is implausible. For instance, it would need to rely on external fields to have power for information relay and in any case would need to be microscopically tiny to be in suspension with vaccine, and what frequency would this micron sized item operate at and would it have an aerial that works? I don't think so.

Haha, Ben, that's fantastic and ably proves my point about the BBC simply being a mouthpiece for the establishment. It also ably highlights their anti-Trump agenda, which I guess are one and the same! They should be called out for DELIBERATELY misrepresenting the facts and forced to retract their LIES and PROPAGANDA!!
TBH, Trump should sue the BBC. I think he'd have a very good case.
Also, this is a very telling comment under the YT video:
Thank you for exposing the lies by the BBC. We need to investigate who is on the Chinese Communist Party's payroll because there is a pattern emerging.
Indeed - and my thoughts exactly!

The claim is, Geoff, that it would be done 'invisibly' with an ink, not a chip as such, and as an abuse of this new technology:https://www.sciencealert.com/an-invisible-quantum-dot-tattoo-is-being-suggested-to-id-vaccinated-kids

I'm surprised you would say that Joe. The sole the purpose of a newspaper, like any business, is to make a profit, and that has been the case since the format was invented. They do that by printing things that people want to read, not by printing facts or the truth. The Daily Mail is no better or worse than any newspaper in that regard.
But publicly funded organizations like the BBC are also subject to bias because their primary objective is to service their own interests, and the objectives that they were actually set up to achieve will always be secondary to that.

I didn't say that the BBC was free of bias, just that it's 1,000 times more likely to be accurate than the Daily Mail, which mostly seems to obsess about which food causes/cures cancer (updated to COVID these days), 'wardrobe mishaps' and house prices. There's nothing like the in-depth BBC reporting such as this:

Which is hardly surprising, as I guess the Daily Mail these days is down to a couple of unpaid interns checking Google, Twitter and Facebook for possible stories.

Not long ago you were saying the Jews controlled 'all the media'; now it's the Chinese Communist Party funding the BBC! We haven't got to David Icke's Giant Lizard People, but I guess it's only a matter of time. The only 'pattern' that's emerging is the one like a face you might see in the clouds, or, as Shakespeare put it:
HAMLET
Do you see yonder cloud that’s almost in shape of a camel?
POLONIUS
By th' mass, and ’tis like a camel indeed.
HAMLET
Methinks it is like a weasel.
POLONIUS
It is backed like a weasel.

Or like a whale.

Very like a whale.

I probably didn't make my point very well. Saying that the BBC is a 1000 times more accurate than the Daily Mail is a meaningless comparison. The Daily Mail is not supposed to be accurate whereas the BBC is (even though it sometimes isn't). To take a literary comparison, it's like saying that Popular Mechanics Weekly is a 1000 times more accurate than Hamlet.
lol now I see that you have also referenced Hamlet in your previous post. That's freaky!
I didn't say that the BBC was free of bias, just that it's 1,000 times more likely to be accurate than the Daily Mail...
In your humble opinion. Others and I would vehemently disagree. The blatant twisting of truth and propaganda by the BBC in the above video with Trump is obvious, so how do you justify it?
Furthermore, if you read the comments under the video, you'll see the strength of feeling among people towards this outdated lying institution, no longer fit for purpose, which panders to the agenda of the establishment - and I can assure you that they're far from alone.
Also, unlike others, I don't have a mania about the Daily Mail. It's just another (valid or otherwise) source of information for me, nothing more. I find the 'hatred' levied against it by some, and how they get all 'het up' about the very mention of it, puzzling in the extreme and rather amusing!
It's just another newspaper, FFS, with its own agenda, the same as any other, which might simply be a better fit with your political bias (and so not be so offensive to your sensibilities), not enemy No1.
Marco.

Lol - you're obviously just a brainwashed BBC fanboy, who can see no wrong in them. Get it into your head that they're as biased as any other mainstream media organisation, and so no more unlikely to impose their biased agenda on the public than any other.
Marco.
The Trump 'inject bleach' story was all over the media, not just the BBC. He's a moron with all the signs of dementia. If he sues the BBC, he'd have to sue every broadcaster and newspaper in the world.
HAMLET
Or like a whale.
POLONIUS
Very like a whale.
You're entitled to your views on Trump, some of which I agree with. I'm not a fan of him as a person either, but if his goal is to dismantle and eradicate the global elite/deep state, which I believe not only exists, but is a fundamental clear and present danger (to borrow a phrase from a well-known film) to society as we know it, due to how they're using this pandemic to further their nefarious ends, then ALL POWER TO HIM!
As for the Jew remark, do not bring up old arguments, which have no place here, in an attempt to score points. If you mention that again, you'll be banned, and this time for good. I have to say that since your return, I've been involved in more pointlessly circular arguments and niggling than I have for some time, so if your goal here is simply to irritate and generally be a nuisance, as it has in the past, then I can quickly bring it to an end.
So think very carefully how you contribute, not only to this discussion from now on, but to the forum as a whole, as I'm not interested in wasting time over folk who seem intent on being a continual source of annoyance.
Marco.

Personally I think we are more likely to meet the wonderful Lizard People than Trump is to tear down the elitists global controllers(if that’s what he is about), they are are more likely to have him shot first, like JFK.

Ah, so you agree that they (the global elite) had him 'bumped off' then, to stop him from exposing them? I think it was a virtual certainty.

Marco, if you haven’t already have a look at Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro and Louder with Crowder. All of them are on YouTube and all give a great insight into the left agenda and virtue signalling.
Hi Ben,
Will do, cheers!

One theory is that he was accidentally shot by a member of his own security detail. They kept an AR15 rifle in the car so they would have some serious firepower in the event of an assassination attempt. When Oswald opened fire the agent retrieved the rifle and whether due to being jostled or due to a sudden movement of the vehicle he discharged the weapon and hit Kennedy. The Secret Service covered it up and the agent concerned was quietly pensioned off. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortal_Error
In your humble opinion. Others and I would vehemently disagree. The blatant twisting of truth and propaganda by the BBC in the above video with Trump is obvious, so how do you justify it?
If you read the comments under the video, you'll see the strength of feeling among people towards this outdated, lying institution, no longer fit for purpose, which panders to the agenda of the establishment - and I can assure you that they're far from alone.
Marco.

The footage certainly seems to back that up, there was a good documentary about it last year I think it was. Between this Wuhan virus and Brexit I don’t even know which day of the week it is.

Exactly. Yet Joe seems oblivious to it and insists on portraying them as some sort of paragon of truth!!
In that respect, they're no better or worse than the Daily Mail. Just a different flavour of bias.

Ah yes, the Bias Broadcasting Corporation.
Total and utter fucking pile of shit these days, with a very clear and overly obvious left wing and brexit bashing agenda.
How Emily Maitliss is still employed is beyond me, and not she or anyone else on the beeb mentioned the 5 labour MP’s who broke lockdown, they just relentlessly hounded Dom Cummings.
The sooner their tax (TV license) is removed the better, although we’ll have to wait until 2027 for that to happen.
That said, they now have Tim Davie now as director general, but as he’s just moved position from within the BBC i doubt anything will change.
Lets see how long the BBC will survive when its subscription only.
Feel free to see how the British public feel about this once great corporation..

I cancelled my TV tax months ago and i’d urge others to do the same (although at the moment they’ve removed the option to do that on their website), but cancelling your direct debit accounts to the same thing.

Yes, well said. Although I still pay my TV licence because frankly its been a long time since I gave a toss either way. Not sure I ever did actually.

Sums them up nicely, though I will still pay my licence fee.
I gave up my licence and the right to watch aired tv a few years ago now.. never missed it as i really never watched it. the bbc were fine about me leaving after i explained.. in fact they initiated the conversation when i was talking about payments etc

Unfortunately we will never know for sure, at least not in our lifetime. I’m of the belief that the AR15 caused that massive hole in his head though. Not intentional, just a mistake but what a mistake. Especially from a SS agent. No wonder the guy was pensioned off.

And yet, over on pfm, the common argument is that the BBC is biased towards the Tories, and Laura Kuenssberg is always being accused of being a Boris fanboy. See also:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_Kuenssberg
'In the 2019 United Kingdom general election, Kuenssberg was accused of bias, in various campaign incidents, alongside criticism of the BBC's election coverage. On 11 December, one day before the 2019 general election, she drew controversy by claiming on air that submitted postal votes, apparently viewed by both the Labour Party and the Conservative Party, were "looking pretty grim for Labour in a lot of parts of the country."[31][32] Viewing postal votes prior to polling day is in breach of guidelines set by the Electoral Commission[33] and predicting electoral outcomes based on votes cast prior to polls closing may be a criminal offence.[34][35] The footage was subsequently withdrawn from BBC iPlayer, while the episode of Politics Live in which the incident happened was withdrawn and removed from the BBC Parliament schedule.[36] The BBC News press office tweeted: "Regarding today's Politics Live programme, the BBC does not believe it, or its political editor, has breached electoral law."[37] The Metropolitan Police Service later confirmed that there was "no evidence of any criminal offences having been committed." [38]
She faced criticism for tweeting the personal blog of Dominic Cummings, the government's chief strategist, and thus broadcasting his message unadulterated.[39] She was also condemned for incorrectly tweeting that a Labour activist had punched a Conservative Party advisor, without verification; footage was released showing this was untrue and she later apologised and retracted her tweet.[40] On 3 March 2020, however the BBC's Executive Complaints Unit stated that "It found no evidence of political bias nor that Laura Kuenssberg had failed to check the story before publication."[41]'
Now, you might ague that two wrongs don't make a right, but it's interesting to see that a predominately left-ish forum like pfm sees the bias one way, whilst some here on AoS see the bias operating the other way.
I dont especially think that.. i think they make up stories about folk/orginisations they dont like.. they then also change side if their funding is threatened. BBC Scotland are so biased fottball wise its hard to believe at times... not that i give a shit as im immune to crap written to sate their audience. they are no better/ worse than papers, but should be treated the same way. their licence fee is a state farce

That, however, doesn't detract from Grant's perfectly valid point.
I don't give a shit about the Royal Family, and their various pomps and ceremonies, or whatever brat one of them has spawned recently (or for that matter Shakespeare, which bores me to tears), but often have it foisted upon me regardless [not Shakespeare, though] by the English-biased, often London-centric, EBC [typo deliberate].

One thing I detest are 'labels' of any description, especially political ones: 'lefty', 'righty', 'left of centre', 'just the right side of stupid' - all that shite. Quite simply because they're too absolutist and never tell the full story.
I'm not an 'anything' [don't have a label] when it comes to politics. I simply tell it as I see it, based on how I observe the world around me, but will always side with what I consider as being in the best interests of fairness and equality, for ALL.
I ABHOR any form of favouritism, and especially the richest and most powerful people in the world being 'protected' in any way by 'the system', and essentially allowed to do what they like. So in that respect I'll always be someone who favours 'power to the people'!
So stick whatever 'label' you like on that;)

All encompassing labels (one size fits all) are rarely ideal but it is a good tool to help one understand the mindset of individuals involved, especially in a debate or conversation. Today when you are unable to question due to fear of being called racist, xenophobic, sexist or some other tasty label to make you feel terrible what else can you use?
I’m of the same opinion about politics but that makes us a dying breed. Unfortunately the politics game has changed, identity politics is being used more than ever by appealing to a supposed minority in a poor attempt to gather votes. The liberal/left mindset or what ever you wish to call it is throughout social media and universities. It is indoctrination in its purest form. One look at how Trump is portrayed in the media will tell you that.
The video I posted is just a small taster of what is going and was being used to try and explain to Joe why a leftie forum will ironically label Laura Kuenssberg right wing.
Of course the rich and powerful are protected, it’s the one of the things money can buy unless your name happens to be Jeffery Epstein! I am in full agreement that no matter what a persons political standing, race, colour, creed or financial situation is they should be held accountable for their actions and power to the people is great ideal but what happens when those people are taught to have a political bias?
I’m very much a live and let live person as long as you aren’t doing or causing any harm to anyone or anything then do what you like as long as it doesn’t affect my life.
As for labelling your post, why would I want to? :)

You see I don't look on the Prime Minister as a 'leader'. Obviously he's leader of his political party but he's not the 'leader' of the country, he's the PM and that's not the same thing.
We're British, we don't have a 'leader'. Hitler, Stalin, Napoleon, Mao, Pol Pot, they were all 'leaders'. It's a rather Stalinist way of looking at things in my view. I certainly don't consider him my 'leader'. I don't have any need for a 'leader' and I have no desire to be a follower. Regrettably it seems to have become lingua franca in the media, all this talk of 'world leaders' and suchlike. They're nothing of the sort. They're just politicians and they're ten-a-penny.
I'm current reading the Memoirs of Charles Greville, written from roughly 1830 to 1860. It's interesting to see how many things which are still complained about in politics were being complained about back then; for example MPs making too much noise and not allowing their opponents to be heard, and MPs no longer being capable of independent thought, because they were expected to pander to their constituents' every whim.
Back then, the PM was selected on the basis that he could 'control' the Houses of Parliament (many PMs sat in the Lords). Some were seen as leaders of the country as well, for example the Duke of Wellington, who was still able to bask in the glory of Waterloo well into the 1830s, but often they were relatively obscure.

No, he was elected to be the representative for whatever his constituency is. The Conservative part elected him to be their leader, which means by default he is Prime Minister. The British are individuals, we don't need a 'leader'. We all do our own thing and somehow it all works out okay.
Sorry, but I can't get into all the emotional aspect of it. There was a disease, people die, we all die eventually. It's an Act Of God. With hindsight maybe a few less people would have died, or died at bit later of whatever underlying conditions they had. But I don't go in for hatred, not even for people who have different political views to me. Hate never makes anything better but it does make everything a lot worse.
Don't be a fence-sitter. Tell us what you really think.
On a technical point; we don't 'elect' a Prime Minister. We elect our constituency MP, and he/she elects the leader of their party. If a leader is booted out by his/her party, we don't have any say in who replaces him/her.

We all know that is the technical facts but Joe public votes for who they want to be the leader at the time of the election. they vote for the MP who will give them that choice.
