Switching on lateral-thinking mode for a second, has anyone considered that this whole thing is actually an elaborate Establishment hoax, designed to instil fear and cause mass panic, in order to increase their control over people [move them closer to the totalitarian state they're trying to create, controlled by the Elite 1%], and using the mass panicking created by this pandemic to kill our current economic system [forcing businesses to go under by keeping people at home who are too afraid to go out], so it can be replaced by something more conducive to creating the type of world ultimately desired by the Elite?
Consider this:
If 80% of us [the young, and reasonably young/fit, with good immune systems] are liable to come through this virus relatively unscathed, by merely experiencing light flu symptoms, as has largely been the case so far, with only the older and more vulnerable 20% at real risk of succumbing to this virus, then why are we stopping the 80% majority from going about their normal business?
If this isn't about deliberately causing panic by instilling FEAR in people, in order to manipulate their behaviour as outlined, then shouldn't we instead be cocooning the vulnerable 20%, and giving them all the support we can (if we really cared about them/the old), whilst allowing the remaining 80% majority to function as normal...?

Well Marco, on the conspiracy front a friend said there’s a theory the Chinese rulers deliberately released the virus on their people knowing that the fear generated would end the riots that they could not put down and they would then be able to impose control. A worrying thought?
The great thing about conspiricy theories are there have just enough plausibility in them and are pretty much impossible to disprove.
I've heard several, and all have merits of plausibility depending on what you want to believe.
I will just go with the most likely and simple , that it just happened the way it happened.. Ie in a market in China,

The home brew is where it’s at for quality. The Fosters is more of stop gap/emergency drink.
That said i do find it more refreshing when i get in from work than a heavy bitter or suchlike.

It was nothing to do with Brexit or now Coronavirus, but I have always had a tendency to stockpile and my wife has often asked, "Why do you need so much toilet roll and so many tins of food, and so much pasta and rice?" She's been very quiet about it lately.
We don’t stock pile, but we do keep enough stock of things like that for a few weeks.
We often don’t have time to go shopping if we go away for a weekend.

Just been to Waitrose and Tesco. All the usuals have gone - loo rolls, kitchen rolls, all tins, all frozen food, all bread, all veg and fruit but also worrying was that there was no beer at all, just (literally) a handful of cans of 'craft beer'. I don't drink much but do enjoy a beer with my dinner and now that's gone..:violin:

This morning we received from our local dairy, along with our usual bottled fresh orange juice and milk, free-range eggs, Welsh butter, bread and some superb quality fresh fruit and veg, which they source from a local farm, so good in fact was the latter that we intend getting it delivered regularly! I even got some nice bacon chops from them, which I'll be having for my tea tonight:)
Plus, we phoned our local butcher earlier and ordered some lamb and pork chops, fillet steak, steak pies and sausages, which we're just off to collect (thus avoiding waiting in queues), along with a fresh chicken - all achieved, stress-free, without going near a supermarket!
So, along with all the tins and dried food we've got in (plus toiletries), which is plentiful, we've got enough stuff in now to last us ages... In these mad times folks, the message is: support your local independents! :exactly:

Nice one. I hope they continue to keep going. Using them regularly will certainly help that cause.
We've all become preconditioned to using supermarkets [creatures of habit and convenience junkies], and that was the case even before this outbreak. It pays in many ways, not least of all now, to use our independents and local farm shops, and so I hope more people will shun the lunatic panic-buying and empty shelves of the supermarkets and support them, and make them thrive during this outbreak.
Anyway, we've just had a log and coal delivery, so our stores are fully stocked for this season, and ordered a load of cat food/biscuits and litter online, for our moggies, which will be delivered on Monday, so we're well sorted!:cool:

Ive seen it all the time, that is how desperate things get with people hence 80% aint no good. So unless its full pay people with symptoms will still go to work spreading it about.
There will always be people who don't want a Conservative government, but Boris really does seem to be working hard for the country - far better than we could have hoped for from Corbyn in my view

Certainly there will have to be some belt-tightening, but the reduced income will be offset to some degree by reduced travel costs. My van needs about £70 a week, so a bit of saving there. And will people with young kids not save on childcare costs?
Having said that, I don't know how I'll get on with it being self employed.

And as our community owned pub closed last night and had to dispose of the draught beer before it went off i’m taking it as a challenge.
If i don’t wake up at 3am in Speedo’s in my pond, i’ll be very disappointed.

This is nothing to do with symptoms, this is all about preserving jobs whilst we get through a very difficult period if an employer is unable to pay you but you’re not working. The government’s support is unprecedented in history - and it is worst case scenario that you would only get 80% depending on what your employer decides to do, as they could elect to keep you on full pay whilst benefiting from the 80% grant.

Tis about symptoms because as i say people are off with suspected COV but dont know for sure, If they were at work they would be earning 100% wage but just stewing at home on 20% less which is a lot of money down the drain when your living hand to mouth.. So because of no tests they are wasting their money & our potential full earnings.

Dunno mate, but the quality was excellent, especially the broccoli. Lovely big/fat healthy looking, deep-green coloured florets, instead of the emasculated, peely-wally looking efforts usually seen in supermarkets!:)

All of this including loans to small businesses are gonna come with so many clauses, there will be real hardship, and I fear a worldwide economic depression, lets hope the government continues to protect living standards by introducing something like the UBI (Universal basic income). One things for sure, the leisure/tourism industry is ****ed.

I'm a sole trader, I think somehow we won't count as small businesses, and besides those loans are subject to credit score, and mine is shagged. Gonna have to find summut else to do in the coming lean times. Sharpening knives maybe? Lugging coal around in my van? I got it, mobile fruit 'n veg stall.

The woman at the Petrol station was not taking any chances. She had that mush Protective gear on i thought she was defusing bombs or summert.
I should have took a picture, but nipped into Tesco in Stowmarket to get some flowers for Mother’s Day and the place was no better for the “essentials” than any other supermarket in the past couple of weeks. It was the beer though - not a single can or bottle of anything other than two brands of which there were plenty - Desperados and Corona! :lol:

We cant get Cavolo Nero here, I know what it is but never ever been able to buy it. Do you cook it the same way you cook say Kale? Courgettes i love & eat loads of them, I even make soup out of it.
yes - I think it is a relative of kale (which I love), steam it, use in place of cabbage or kale, or use in a minestrone (add to soup about 5 or 6 minutes before finishing).

Have you looked to see if there are any dairies near you who do deliveries? If so, you'll be able to get a whole load of stuff delivered to your door, not just milk either - with zero hassle!

Supermarkets buy is Bulk hence can sell cheaper & make more profit to boot, plus people can buy everything under one roof cos they dont wanna fart about, i certainly dont cos shopping, cooking & all that is a drain on my time.. No chance me running out anyway, for one im a bulk buyer so always have loads of stocks & secondly this country has enough food but people seem to think otherwise. Go out early in a morning the day after & you will get some bits if you need them.

I take no notice of any of them Geoff. Taking notice of prats is a big contribution to the Mass buying people have been doing. Seems like common sense what you do in a situation like this. Part of it is what you should be doing day in day out of you life in general.
Well, I've been using our local dairy now for a year, primarily for delivery of fresh bottled milk (which incidentally tastes markedly better than supermarket stuff), and the prices haven't changed since then, so they aren't profiting from the current situation, and everything else they sell is reasonably priced and very good quality.
Plus, the Polish supermarkets near us are the same, where we buy our bread and various other things. The prices are what they've always been, so it's good to see not all smaller independents are being greedy and in fact are trading responsibly:)

I was in Morrisons yesterday doing my usual snooping of the situation. I ought to have written a blog about all this behaviour which would not have been a joke if it had been correctly orchestrated from day one.
Anyway. The Soup section which is quite large was totally stripped with exception on Heinz 'Cream of Tomato' Soup.. Very odd. Pasta section is totally bare. I actually found a stray pack of ORZO hiding behind a jar of Korma' curry sauce across. I sniffed it out :D
No Mushrooms at all apart from a few monsters & surprise no shit house Roll. But if people want to rot in bed instead of getting up early they are always gonna find the shelves empty cos this panic buying is still rife.

It'll soon be stopping when the government imposes new measures to END it, and where rationing will be ENFORCED in supermarkets, to prevent stores from having their shelves stripped by selfish scum, posing as 'humans'.
And those measures will shortly be put into place, as it's become patently clear that you can't rely on rabid animals to think about anyone other than themselves, so they'll soon be FORCED to shop considerately. Just as similarly, for our greater good, the government have FORCED bars, cafes and restaurants to close, so will shoppers be FORCED not to panic-buy.
Mark my words, it will become a reality this week, and it should've been done MUCH sooner!

Regarding our local Retail park that houses a lot of the high streets well known outlets is over half closed till further notice. I think a few more shops may shut up this week, the ones that people really could live happily without.
The tricky bit is People who have to go to work that do not want to in fear or contracting it or if they have it without realising yet hence possibly spreading it. Places like supermarkets which will not close being a necessity, also ofc the NHS front line. For these two lines of work i feel for them, putting themselves at risk but cannot do much to avoid being in the thick of it, especially when they have a family at home...
The simple solution is a total lock down of the country when absolutely no one ventures outside but its an impossibility.

Having all the older people go in to supermarkets sounds like a good idea - keep the others out - then all the oldies can infect each other, and they won't be around in a month or so. Social distancing is a start, and if people follow the guidelines, then it doesn't have to get worse. It might, in which case "sensible" measures might be much more draconian, severe, and unpleasant.

Thinking ahead, I was wondering if fuel availability could possibly become an issue.
This thought got me looking at second-hand bicycles on ebay and there's quite a few decent enough looking examples on offer locally and cheaply (£25 to £50). It may turn out to be unnecessary, but better to have one and be prepared, than not be able to find one and end up using scarce petrol. Trust me, if the worst happens, bikes will be like gold dust!
Everything I'm likely to need is only a modest ride away and without any parking problems. I used to ride everywhere until I was nearing sixty and should be up to it if I take it easy! :)

Well I and Sue certainly are with my health issues and here recent illness were are probably high risk, but you never really know as recent reports from Italian doctors are saying they are now seeing people in 30's and 40's very ill who have had a lot of exposure to it and it seems the bigger the exposure the worse it can be as it take a grip on you quicker.

I've a cousin who works for the NHS and he says the general thinking is that it will peak in May then disappear as fast as it appeared. Hope you are all well and lets hope it is sooner rather than later that we see an end to it.
Take careI think it's going to be really big in larger cities. It would be better to come in waves in different locations - as long as people don't move around too much, or they move in a controlled way. That way - assuming it is going to peak fairly high - the services in those cities wouldn't be completely overloaded. Knowledge and experience as it moves across the country might also be useful, and some staff could perhaps be redeployed - though it might be better if they just passed on their knowledge, rather than physically moving.
It would be good if it did just fizzle out, but I fear it's not going to. The other major concerns are whether it will come back again, and whether humans will build up any sort of immunity. If we do build up immunity, it might be manageable in a year or two or even less, but if we don't and it mutates it could be with us for years.

I would like that to be the case, but can't help but think it is wishful thinking/spin.
I can't see how a virus will just disappear. I am not a biologist, but would expect that most of the population would need to be infected and gain immunity (or not) before we see an end to this.
My local Asian corner shop has plenty of milk, bread, tinned food, etc. Not sure if the owners are Muslim though, as they also sell alcohol there.

Yes - we have a farm shop here, but I haven't had a chance to look in there since I got back.
You should check it out. Chances are the shopping experience will be rather more relaxed, with little (if any) shortage of fresh produce/stocks in general, as most of it will be their own/local, so they're not reliant on stuff being delivered:)
Should also be relatively free of panic-buying oiks!

We do use it for fruit and veg (though we also have an equally good greengrocer, which we tend to use more often), but haven't tried the Farm Shop since the outbreak, as I've been in London.

Today may have been my last visit to a farm shop. Mrs. p needed to get out of the house, so we had a lengthy shopping trip today (she stayed in the car while I went in with a list). Chicken fillets: farm shop £8.95/kg, Asian market £5.99/kg, Iceland £4.95/kg. And we probably burned a couple of quid's diesel driving out there. :(
Anita's been telling everyone about my shopping skills - she wanted fresh ginger, and I had to ask a fellow shopper because I didn't know what it looked like. She didn't say how much, so I got a pound. Well she should have said! Also I bought the worst two leeks she's ever seen. They looked fine to me, nice and leafy :)
Not sure whether these Asian supermarkets are run by Muslims, but the customers, although clearly Asian could have been Muslim or Hindu. And a couple were Sikh. No beef or beef products for sale, nor any pork/bacon, so I'd say they catered for all.

Just been watching the Health secretary in Parliament going over the emergency legislation. part of it is allowing stronger measures to shut down premises. No Boris on TV at 5pm cos hes at a COBRA meeting but will be on TV later on, Be interesting to see what he says. Clamping down big time now cos too many people are sticking two fingers up the the social distancing either that or they are thick as pig shit. People on the NHS risking their own lives to care for folk while these kunts are being a bunch of twats putting more peoples lives at risk saturating the NHS work load..
Boots are letting one to two people in the store at one time where we are. Good on them. The good thing is i passed our local Retail park on the way home, Totally dead, like a Ghost town, most the shops are closed..
Seems Germany have the thing where they can go out for excersize but only 200 Yard from their homes.

People have clearly been stripping out the Food stores so they have obviously loads of Food, Why on earth dont people just stay in unless they have an essential job to go to, Why dont these particular jobs have some kind of testing for their employees?

I’ve been trying all of them all week. Couldn’t get any dates on any of them in my area. I have been shopping online at supermarkets as long as I can remember.
Can’t believe there are no options available to register as a disabled customer. Also, whats the point of saying you are making exceptions for elderly customers if it’s their carers or children who actually shop for them?

The fines could be used to help the rest of us.

A friend told me of speaking to his mum who lives just down the road in Ballater, apparently there had been organised bus trips from Dundee with the express intention of stripping the shops in small towns/ villages. These “people” should suffer the same fate.

Well, aside from key workers, if EVERYONE ELSE just PARKED THEIR ARSES AT HOME and STAYED PUT, it would go a long way towards solving the problem!! The idiots who don't come into the former category need to get that message into their THICK SKULLS, or be FORCED into it by the authorities!!
So yes, bring ID cards into the equation and only allow key workers, who can prove themselves as such, to travel on the tube, with appropriate checks being made *before* entry to platforms is allowed. And get the police or army involved if necessary to enforce it. Simples!
