Just seen the news today
There has been a festival whit over 10000 peoples near by
One wonder why they pick Liverpool again to carry out an experiment on how this Virus spread
Probably nothing to do whit the old Iron Lady promise to wipe us off the map or whit a local election camming up in 3 days
I wonders how many nans and gran-pa are going to die in the next 2 3 weeks as a results of it
Do not really give a F about those attending ...

To that professor that was on the news bouncing around I have only one thing to say "Thou shall not cause harm ..."

Nothing to say to the establishment really One just wonder how many flats they can get decorated whit the income from the inheritance tax ?

For the conspiration theorist just ask how many drinks where sold and how many plastic glasses where used more than once on what kind of stuff they sprayed on the change out of the tills

Being posting here I am happy to see live gigs and such but WTF!!! . 10000 and Liverpool ?

Yup, all valid points, Sandro, especially in relation to the guinea pigs chosen for these things always being us 'oop norf' Typical Tories... However, let's see how it goes. It'll be interesting seeing what impact, if any, it has on new infections.

I'm hoping it'll be a success and we can start getting the arts and entertainment industries back on their feet. We're missing the cinema in particular. At the moment, in most parts of the country, things are looking good, with normality (thank goodness) slowly being resumed!:)

We were in Liverpool a couple of weeks ago and had a nice lunch al fresco at The Italian Club, in Bold St (it was a lovely sunny day). The menu and food was a little formulaic/run-of-the-mill, but decent enough, and just nice to get out and about again away from the same four walls.

We wanted to try Little Furnace, but it doesn't open until 5pm, and we prefer having lunch, so we'll save it for when we next go to a gig, and are there instead in the evening:cool:

With the correct PPE it would be simple for the district/on call nurse to be doing this.

It does make one wonder what what the issue/problem is here.
Let's hope you get it soon Grant.

Got date for my second jab. next Wednesday. Monday evening I started coughing, and it was relentless. Worried, Anita ordered a self test kit online. It arrived by post yesterday morning, 18 hrs later. That is a fast service :) Result was negative, as I expected. Cough's gone now, but I'm sneezing for England. In my defence, it's been so long since I've had a cold I've forgotten what it's like.

My youngest daughter has started her teaching practice in a primary, within days she was "off sick" - two days of very sore throat, "lost voice", cough.
Negative on Covid, I think we have all become so absorbed by Covid that it is easy to forget about other infections.

True, and we have come to assume that the measures to protect against Covid will keep everything else away, which to some degree it has. But we have become so consumed by Covid that any "symptom" must be that. Even while wearing a mask I'm trying not to cough so as to not freak people out. A few times yesterday I found myself repeating my boring "it's a cold not Covid" story to everyone I went near.

Talking to people at work, customers etc. it seems likely that the precautions we are taking now (mask wearing, hand sanitising) will be the new normal, and will continue long after the threat is over.

Talking to people at work, customers etc. it seems likely that the precautions we are taking now (mask wearing, hand sanitising) will be the new normal, and will continue long after the threat is over.

The key bit is at the end, and the word "threat".

When the threat is genuinely over, or more realistically Covid becomes as manageable a threat as flu, and the majority of the population have been vaccinated, there should be no need for wearing masks, in a mandatory sense; it should simply be up to the individual whether or not they wish to wear them, which would be fine.

Therefore, when we reach the position (as outlined above) I'd hope that the current mandatory requirement for wearing masks, in the likes of shops and public transport is removed, when there's no longer sufficient justification for it.

I'm sure will be the case [after all, masks have never been worn before to combat flu] - and it can't come soon enough for me, as I DETEST the bloody things!!

Still quite liquid, so not there yet.

I find if you gargle it, so that it 'whips up' into a near-scrambled egg-like consistency, that it notably improved the texture. Then hold it in your mouth for a few secs, in order to encourage coagulation, which subsequently facilitates chewing, before swallowing, and also enhances the flavour.

Just some tips, if you wish to be a phlegm master:)

British pigs and those with right of residence will be able to claim Universal Credit. European breeds will have to return home or find work on the black.

Cows like to kill people so they will get work as hitmen or underworld 'enforcers'. You'll soon find the money to cover the vig when a Friesian or Jersey comes knocking at your door.

Chickens will just have to muscle in on pigeon territory, roosting on window ledges and pecking about for scraps in shopping centres. Pigeons will find their standard of living will drop but then there's always unintended consequences to these things.

Yes, but they're also up in Bolton, other areas of greater Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow (among others), all of where haven't had any of the recent large organised public events that you're referring to.

The fact is, the virus is still with is [will likely ALWAYS be with us in some form], so we just need to learn to live with it, without every time there's a spike in infections going 'OMG, we're all doomed!!'

If the vaccines are genuinely effective against most variants (and being modified accordingly to tackle new ones), which is what's purported to be the case, then increased infection rates shouldn't lead to mass hospitalisations, as was the case before, and therefore it's NOT a major issue! We just manage it, like we do flu.

Focusing on or worrying about infection rates is simply what the media want you to do, as it keeps them in a job! So, if you've been vaccinated, just get on with your life as best as you can, and worry not about what you can't change. Tomorrow, you might get knocked down by a bus;) Let's hope not, though.

But seriously, if the vaccines do what they're supposed to do (and current evidence indicates that's the case, as very few people are dying), then we need to stop fretting about bloody Covid and continue on the road back to normal life, or as normal as it can be, otherwise when will it all end?

It won't. This is now a perfect excuse for the government to restrict people in any ridiculous way they can think of. Only a revolt will cure it. When they have wide scale rioting then they will be forced to do something.

Marco,

I question your assumption that the vaccine is working.

My opinion is that the COVID-19 is not any more virulent than ‘flu, and as ‘flu reporting isn’t ...kinda reported, what we are left with is a bogus COVID-19 report that has assimilated ‘flu. Any thought that mask wearing has somehow stopped the ‘flu virus is laughable!
What if the vaccine is a hoax? The reported statistics being manipulated to present a picture of vaccines efficacy.

We have had hilarious propaganda like “stay at home (to prevent getting the virus) but open your windows and doors to let the virus out”. Presumably to get other people infected?

We have the inside outside saga for drinks and food.

We have the mask on mask off farce.

I forgot about the mouth mask and the chin mask.

Supermarkets open so we can all mingle freely pretending to wear masks correctly, some people wearing visors, and of course social distancing was always observed. Food handled by multiple shoppers, then handed to checkout staff. Home delivery that has gone through picking, packing, delivery god knows how many souls could have coughed, sneezed etc on its way to you.

I could go on, but going to bed, night night.

Well, we've been here before., and I wouldn't discount your theory. However, aside from an increase in infections with the 'new variant', in certain parts of the country, the figures (importantly the death ones) are heading in the right direction, so *for now*, let's give them the benefit of the doubt and attribute it largely to the efficacy of the vaccines, and see where we are in a few months time!;)

I’m getting confused about the purpose of masks and the vaccine!

The vaccine, we were told by Science, might not protect you and may not stop you spreading it, unless I missed something new from Science.

Now CDC comes out with this:-
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/16/cdc-director-defends-lifting-mask-guidance-for-vaccinated.html

So is this new Science a carrot to get more people “jabbed” saying if you're vaccinated you don’t have to wear a mask? Or more subtle indoctrination.

Spent some long time today with this article from the American publication "The New Yorker".

https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2021/01/04/the-plague-year?itm_content=footer-recirc

Many interesting things to be discovered.

Face Masks reduce transmission by half.

The USA was designing messenger RNA vaccines in January 2020 in combination with Pfizer and Moderna. Rolled them for trial out in 6 weeks. Happily I have had both me Pfizers.

Actually way before the rest of the World even acknowledged that we might have a problem in March, 2020.

Interestingly, the Stock Markets were two weeks ahead of Public Information on this. Crashed from 7400 to 6400, then 5400.

The most shocking thing we know about this germ, is even if you survive it, you have a 20% chance of developing serious Heart scarring problems even after survival.

Plus, also because of their 'green' nature, with being able to be washed and reused indefinitely (within reason), as one of our pet hates is seeing all the used disposable masks being dumped onto the ground by filthy and inconsiderate idiots, and which eventually end up as landfill:doh::rolleyes:

In the end, we bought 3 masks (one for me, including a spare for Del), plus a sanitiser, for £49, as if the order value was over £60 [which it was at full price], you got 30% discount, so not too bad!

In a strip mall in Grand Rapids, a shop called the Vac Shack sells and services vacuum cleaners. Fox, a former employee, had been kicked out of his girlfriend’s house and was homeless. The shop’s owner let Fox sleep in the basement. That’s where he allegedly began plotting to kidnap Gretchen Whitmer, Michigan’s governor, who had enforced tough lockdown measures.

In June, at a gun-rights rally in Lansing, Fox met with members of a militia, the Wolverine Watchmen, who planned to kill police officers. They were infuriated by Whitmer’s COVID restrictions, but, even before the pandemic, they’d been prone to anger. “I’m sick of being robbed and enslaved by the state,” one of the conspirators complained, after receiving a ticket for driving without a license.

Has a certain resonance with those Americans who feel "The State" is trying to take away their Freedoms.

What's going on there, then? Strictly timed appointments should avoid that... You arrive at the centre in good time, but don't enter it until *exactly* the time of your appointment, then get 'jabbed' in time for the next person's due appointment, they do the same, and so on and so forth - simples.

So why are massive queues developing at some centres?

Yeah I get that. Still, if I saw a queue that was already nearly half a mile long, I'd do an abrupt about turn and come back when things were quieter! Realistically, as I'm an organised bastard, I'd get there first thing, as soon as the place opened, thus when it's most likely to be quiet, and get in and out ASAP:)

However, Brits just love a 'nice queue', and will happily stand in one all day, whereas us 'continental types' simply don't have the patience for such!:D

Funny that I was in restaurant in Rome, family-run place, and when I came out there was a long queue of people waiting for a table that stretched about 40 feet down the pavement.

I suppose it's possible they were all British but it seems unlikely. An undignified scramble for the next free table would have been more fun to watch but also slightly unedifying.

Marco
23-05-2021, 11:41
Yeah, but that's in one of the busiest and most touristy cities in the world, so there are probably queues to get into most things, especially great restaurants, as for Italians, good food is king!:D

Although, you'll generally find that the locals 'in the know' will be dining in some joint, down a back alley, where the food is ten times better - and also ten times cheaper!!;)

Yes, I *detest* queues, which is one of the reasons why I generally don't do 'tourist attractions' either, especially abroad... Standing in a queue for an hour (often in the blazing sun), just to get into a museum or art gallery??

Fuck that!:nono:

I let Del do that, as she's 'keener' than me and also has more patience.. I'll bugger off to a bar somewhere, with a nice table in the shade outside, sip a few cold beers and watch the pretty girls go by, and wait for her there!:exactly:

Marco.

Macca
23-05-2021, 11:45
No I'm not much for queuing either but the queue in itself isn't a British thing.

The British thing is that even in situations when there is no 'official' queuing system, like at say a bus stop, the British will still organise themselves into a queue. That's the peculiarity that foreigners comment on.

Marco
23-05-2021, 11:58
Yes, but Brits are generally more patient (and reserved) than us fiery, temperamental Latin types, and so are quite happy to queue. Whereas, we tend to become rather quickly agitated and irked if forced to wait for anything...

Honestly, I've seen HUGE fights break out in traffic jams on roads in Italy, caused by either road works or accidents, because they simply don't have the patience to sit there (and also want someone to blame, lol) - and the longer they have to wait, the more their blood pressure starts to rise - and then they go 'pop':steam::lol:

It starts off with tooting horns (at what or whom they don't know), then when that doesn't work, they'll get out and confront someone who they think is responsible, a road worker or whatever, and if he reacts in the wrong way - ANYTHING can happen and frequently does, from huge shouting matches, to fist fights, guns drawn :guns: - you name it!!:D

Whereas, you guys would happily sit there, calm and collected. maintaining a 'stiff upper lip'!;)

remember getting stuck in a huge queue on the Edinburgh city bypass. Radio said it was blocked and would take an hr or more to clear. I said fuck that, sitting in a car in heat, so i reached a juction which was just about 50 yrds away that didnt really go anywhere i wanted but took it.. then went across country and then on to well past lanark then came back to bathgate via the glasgow side.. took me well over 2 hrs but i was enjoying driving on the shitty country rds and not sitting in a queue... madness but i do hate queues:D

Marco

Ha - I've often done the same thing! I'd much prefer to be on the move, even if it takes me longer to reach my destination, than STUCK SAT THERE, in a fooking queue/traffic jam, twiddling my thumbs and feeling my stress levels grow!

Glad you feel ok.. But queues? Firstly, how does such a concept fit with social distancing - was everyone a minimum of 2m apart? Secondly, queues (of any description) are totally against my religion!:D

I've seen some of the (very long) queues at vaccination centres on TV, and thought 'fuck that for a game of soldiers!' In any case, I thought that very precisely timed appointments were designed to prevent queues - so what went wrong?:hmm:

Marco.
Everybody we know have waited no more than a few minutes. For both of mine, I was in and out in six minutes.

The queues you have seen in Bolton and elsewhere are because they are drop in centres with no appointments. The Indian variant cases in these areas have gone through the roof and people are panicking to get theirs done.

Cummings says the crisis raises profound questions about a political system that gives people a choice between Jeremy Corbyn and Boris Johnson.

He says any system that gives a choice between two people like that is obviously a system that has gone "terribly wrong".

There are so many people who could have done a better job than those two he says.

He found himself it "completely crazy" that he himself was in such an important position because he is "not smart".

It is "completely crackers" that he and Boris Johnson were in these prominent positions.

It was "lions led by donkeys" with great people on the ground but the leadership let people down on the front line.

I disagree. I think he is just putting a spin on what would be the expected conditions when very difficult decisions have to be made, and made quickly. I think his suggestion that expert medical advice was ignored verges on the ludicrous and therefore makes the rest of what he says extremely suspect.

I doubt any of it will be taken seriously by anyone who matters. In any case there's the Public Enquiry next year so regardless if there is anything at all dodgy it will be officially whitewashed then, because that's the whole point of a Public Enquiry.

He's also made a strategic error in coming out with this now. Will all be forgotten in a few weeks and it's years to the next election. He'd have been better off keeping quiet and coming out with it all the week before polling day when it would have a chance of doing some real damage. But he couldn't help himself I suppose, just like when he had to have his day trip out during lockdown.

Not really 'evidence' just the words of a man with an axe to grind and a large chip on his shoulder.

I certainly don't doubt the latter. However, the fact is, any information that's credible, with any given subject, acts as evidence. But evidence itself, unless indisputable, isn't proof! That's the point to make, and the mistake that's often made in these types of discussions (the conflation between 'evidence' and 'proof').

For me therefore, regardless of Cummings being a dimwitted, self-interested dickhead, he'll still have been party to insider information, some of which will be true and damaging to BJ!:D

So all I'm looking for is as much 'dirt' as possible to pin on blowjob-boy, to help bring him down and boot his ass out of No10, as a) I can't stand the bigoted fucker, and b) have never, at any stage, believed that he was prime minister material - and nothing he's done in the role since, including his shambolic handling of the pandemic, has convinced me otherwise...!!

The pandemic could have been handled a lot, lot worse though. And obtaining the vaccines and rolling out the vaccines has all gone pretty well. The EU trade deal went through (at the last minute, exactly as I predicted 2 years ago) and there's a load more in the pipeline.

On the whole I'd give him a B plus so far. Or maybe a B 'room for improvement.' Which isn't bad considering what he's had to deal with.

Most Prime Ministers don't ever face anything as challenging as Brexit or the pandemic. Usually they have to go out looking for a war to get involved in just to give them a bit of interest in their job.

I mean look at Tony Blair, nothing serious happened all the time he was PM. The biggest problem he had to deal with was Gordon Brown.

he head of the National Care Association has rejected a claim by the government last year that it had placed a "protective shield" around care homes early in the pandemic.

Nadra Ahmed calls the claim "absolute rubbish".

"There was no shield," she tells the BBC's Question Time. "I think that was an utterance that came about in a form of embarrassment, perhaps, because nothing had been done for social care."

Social care "ended up being that forgotten front line", she adds.

It comes as Health Secretary Matt Hancock faces growing pressure over the deaths of thousands of care home residents during the pandemic.

Hancock insists ministers and health officials "worked as hard" as they could to protect those most vulnerable to coronavirus.

I've found that since having the 2nd jab, and also the easing of some restrictions, that I'm not actually enjoying the **improved freedoms** as much as I thought I would. Maybe I'd built it up in my head as being a great thing but actually got myself in a bit of a rut. I think it'll be a while before I can be arsed doing anything I previously wasn't allowed to do.

Or rather you mean a gradual return to some aspects of the normality we once enjoyed, took for granted, and most importantly, DESERVE as citizens of a supposedly free country!;) In that respect mate, nothing has been 'improved', only ruined and unlikely to ever fully return to normal..

I think one of the reasons you can't be arsed doing the things you mentioned is because, while some of our freedoms have returned (for how long though, who knows?) the world we're currently living in is still a far cry from the one we enjoyed pre-Covid.

Although we're 'allowed' to go out and mix again with other people, the fun has largely been sucked out of it, by all the mask-wearing, social distancing and so on, not to mention folks feeling less confident about sharing the same enclosed spaces as others for an extended period of time, particularly inside houses..

Even fully vaccinated, are your friends or you still as happy or relaxed, as you were before, about sharing each other's company indoors, for hours on end, or with giving each other a welcome hug or handshake when you meet? If you're honest, I bet you'd say no, and that you're rather more wary now of doing so. Therefore, all of that, and being ill at ease, detracts from the experience and makes you disinclined to partake in it.

However, that's not why I'm not seeing many friends at the moment. As I've said elsewhere, I've got my dad to look after (for reasons stated), but the main factor is that until things return much more to how they were, and when eating out or going to a pub/cinema, or whatever, no longer feels like you're part of some scientific experiment or a character in a real-life disaster movie, we'll mostly be doing our own thing at home - and that also applies to going on holiday.

In short, things are just a bit shit at the moment, exacerbated by the uncertainty of knowing *exactly when* they'll genuinely improve, and we can all FINALLY breathe a huge sigh of relief that this nightmare is over (or as over as it'll ever be). Therefore, until things are markedly less shit, and crucially the FUN FACTOR of getting out and about returns, we'll be doing our shit mostly at home..

Let's see how things are in 12 months time!

"Why Did You Dismiss The Lab-Leak Theory?": Rubio Grills Fauci On Past Statements Of COVID-19 Origin - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilt_NcaIIRk)

… told you so!

I categorically deny that I said what I said one year ago because if I said it, I did not but I seem to recall that I read somewhere that same one said” I wanted my money back as the intelligence community failed to spot that the outbreak was camming”
Not only that, in the early days telling you to stop travel wear a mask take vitamin D and such would have caused a loss of opportunities for graft and political gain and most important of all denied the chance to scare the populace which always make ruling it much easier, and therefore any rumour that the virus vas man made had to be stopped as it would imply that they did know how it works, spread and how it can be fought against whit inexpensive already existing medication and maybe whit already secretly available vaccines.
It is preposterous to think that the 5% of the population that has the 90% of the wealth would use the opportunity to play a down fall in the market to make gains that could found flat refurbishment and such that keep this system going

We can all laugh at or pooh-pooh so-called 'conspiracy theories', but for me regardless of their veracity or otherwise, there's defo been some dodgy shenanigans going on from the 'powers that be', in terms of hiding EXACLY HOW this thing started, to everything else we've experienced since, and their honesty (or rather otherwise) in relation to that.

Well it seems that you forget the training politicians undertake, it start many times when as freshmen they enter university and by pure chance get drafted on one camps or the other, from the thousands upon thousands of recruits it takes many years for the ones that answer simple questions whit yes or no or forget to say things whit more than 99.999% certainty to be discarded

At the highest levels it seems that to hesitate for a split second before not telling the real truth of things can cause a possibly extremely rapid down fall as the media especially, can target any small crack in your Armor and use it again and again. Corbin probably being a prime example of it
As you say " there is some truth on that" is a good example on how to survive in that pool of sharks, so you have 99% of my support if you are going for it :)
Now to be less cryptic about my speculation that maybe they already did know how to make a vaccine and play the market and such
I sems to recall that one of the clips I probably posted above give the impression that 2 or 3 Wuhan researchers got hospitalised whit Influenza around the 19th of November
On the 28th of January or there about Fauci came up whit this
Tracking Dr. Anthony Fauci’s Comments On Coronavirus - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShiwHR5OvtM)
It seems highly unlikely that it takes only 2 months and one day to see that
1 the cat is out of the bag
2 it works exactly as it was designed
3 give it same time to spread and therefore maximise opportunity for profit and graft
4 find out who could potentially be the best candidates to make you profit from vaccine sales
5 contact friends and such to see where one can get the best support and gratitude for being in the circle of the ones that know
6 give them time to get uncles and cousins and such to win contracts on things like PPE
7 make sure that the WHO is definitely in your pockets by shoving reluctance on declaring a pandemic and is on board saying that mask probably do not work
8 make sure that Christmas do no get disrupted
9 protect the people you founded by giving them a chance to spread miss information and cover the tracks.
10 any other thing that probably I forgot to put here because I know that there are things that I know that I don't know
And then score loads of point to say Quote “it will take 3 months to start medical trials for the Vaccine that most probably already have and is the only way to put the cat back in the bag
I have taken the liberty to mark the politically correct words in green

I wouldn't put anything past these cunts when it comes to ever increasing the lining of their greedy and corrupt pockets. Quite simply, good guys don't become multi-billionaires, or even more so, suddenly develop a guilt complex about their wealth, thus decide to throw chunks of it away, by becoming 'philanthropists'!:mental:

You only have to watch the decent, very wealthy people in action, such as Sugar or Branson, and how 'driven' they are by making yet more and more money (and with it influence and power), even though they already have much more of it than they'll ever need, to understand the psyche of these guys, which is why Gates' ridiculous 'I just want to put something back into society' pish, simply doesn't wash.

Where there's BIG money to be made, these guys are in there like a flash, as they can't get enough of it, and for me, someone [likely many people] has been made wealthier than their wildest dreams (or will do in due course) out of, among other things, the worldwide sale of vaccines for Covid.

Simple again get 100% of the people that can go and vote instead of the just 30% that did on the recent local elections

Marco.

Well that is the same as what i said, just worded differently. And I'd say that being able to go into a pub or restaurant, or "non essential" shop, or visit with friends, are improvements on what we've had for the last 15 months. So I'm happy to stick with the term "improved freedoms" ;)

I am being honest when I say that I never really had a fear of this Covid, as I'm not what you would call "risk averse" (maybe "stupid" is a better description) and simply complied with the rules out of concern for those around me. I stayed over at a friend's house last Saturday, got up quite early and had coffee and toast with his missus next morning with no awkwardness about infection. So it's not that. I think it's just the memory of what you used to do, bolstered by not being able to do it for a period, is so much better than the reality. I feel the same about my recent return to eating chocolate raisins by the bagload, they're not a patch on how I remember them :(

As for the last paragraph: Yes things are a bit shit at the moment, but self-imposing an extension of the lockdown rules will only prolong the shitness, not least for the long-suffering leisure industry. I personally will be getting out and about, because I feel we have to actively work at "normality", not wait at home for it to come to us...

Much of this had become the norm long before the pandemic, thanks to out-of-town or online shopping, having to travel distances for work, and folk's desire to move away from what used to be "close knit" communities to feel they are going up in the world in their crappy new build shoeboxes. It is a sad outlook, and may be even worse when electric cars become our means of travel, and folk still in these close knit communities have no means of owning or charging one :(

Yes, they may be 'improved freedoms', compared with government imposed house arrest, which is effectively what we've all been subjected to, in one form of another, for the last 15 months!

However, the bigger picture and reality is that we're far less free now than we were pre-Covid (when governments get the opportunity to impose control on the population and justify it, freedoms allowed previously are never fully rolled back - watch out for that when the pandemic is declared as 'over'), so I don't think we'll ever be as free again, indeed our liberties are more likely to be further restricted in future, as we gradually move to being more surveilled and controlled by the state, unless we rid ourselves of this Tory (sorry I mean covert fascist) government.

Therefore, although I understand where you're coming from, I don't sign up to the notion of what we're experiencing now as being 'improved freedoms', simply because it implies that we've got something to be grateful for, when instead it's simply our basic human rights, and which shouldn't have been taken from us in the way that it was in the first place.

I get where you're coming from, and no doubt that's part of it, but as Grant points out, there'll be many thousands of others who feel ill at ease, or scared to mingle with others, as they once did, despite being vaccinated, and that could have a profoundly negative effect on how they lead their lives in future.

Like you, I've got no particular fear of Covid, which is testament to the fact that I've refused to have a vaccine!

In that respect, I've been living life as normally as possible, within current restrictions, and still enjoying myself. However, the fact is, right now some of the activities Del and I used to really enjoy simply aren't as much fun, for reasons completely out with our control, and simply ignoring that and carrying on regardless won't change anything.

That said, we'll still get out and about and do stuff, plus socialise with friends, etc, but simply not as much as before, until the dread factor abates [in terms of 'when will this nightmare be over?] and the fun factor returns and we can all properly smile again and be happy, when/if our freedoms get back to being as close as possible to what they were before this nightmare happened.

Marco.

The vaccines are made by public companies so it's the shareholders in those which will actually make money from it. Which probably includes some wealthy people but also includes the pension funds. So if you've got a pension you're making money off of covid vaccines.

Probably? Most certainly, Gates included, which proves my point! Others and his primary motivation for investing in large pharma (and vaccines) was to potentially MAKE (huge amounts) of MONEY, not 'do good'. If you believe that, then sorry, your head clearly zips up the back... Btw, the 'your' stated is as in 'one's'. It wasn't personal.

Is your pension remark aimed at me? If so, I don't have any. The money I made from my business was invested in land and property (the latter currently rented out), which I own outright, and which when sold will form my future 'pension fund':)

I figured out fairly early on that pension schemes are more designed to reward the companies who provide them, than those who invest in them, and I'm not here to be anyone's 'cash cow', far less anyone's slave.

Ah, so you're a "wait and see" kind of guy, and that's ok - wait and see if the vaccine is safe/effective, wait and see if the 'fun factor' will return to getting out and about. I'm the opposite, I know that the population is made up of individuals, but whose collective actions I believe will affect things. If everybody decided to wait and see with vaccines, their production would have been pointless, with herd immunity being all we could pin our hopes on. If everybody decided to wait and see if our freedoms could 'get back to normal', they wouldn't and a big chunk of our economy would probably collapse. May still do, but if we make the effort it has a fighting chance :)

I know things are shit at the moment, but at least it's just cow shit with a smattering of bullshit. We've just had 15 months of cat shit, which is 10 times worse.

And that bit up there I've highlighted: yes it can for the reasons I stated. Just need a bit of faith, you me and a few million others :)

No, you're completely missing the point! The ''waiting and seeing' is only in terms of if/when things will improve, as far as the activities we enjoyed before being as much fun as they were, not in terms of keeping us indoors until it is.

However, the fact remains that things are a bit shit, caused simply by having to wear masks and social distance, etc, and which won't change until those obligations are removed, regardless of whether or not in the meantime we continue going to pubs, restaurants or cinemas/music gigs.

THAT is the point, mate.

So if something's not as much fun as it once was, then you're less inclined to do it - simples. Therefore, when we can enjoy those venues again, as freely as before, that's when they'll become FUN again and we'll frequent them more:)

No I haven't missed the point, I understand that you will get out, but less than you would normally do due to the expected (but not necessarily real) restrictions. For example, you don't wear a mask when seated and drinking or dining, and if you dine outside masks won't be needed at all. And as for distancing, who did you want to stand near to that you don't already? You've already avoided the "great unwashed " like the plague long before the actual plague came along :D

Shame about the gigs, I'll give you that. But cinemas? I heard that the last time you went to the flicks was when that lady would come round with fags on a tray :ner: At which point you bought a home cinema :)

Indeed! And so who or what do you think is driving, and so has created this "norm", or is it just an unfortunate part of modern life and so-called 'progress'?

No chance. Plans for such have been put into place for years by the powers that be, and after the completion of a succession of approved 'baby steps', designed to facilitate the desired end goal, have eventually made it a reality!

And if you believe that they've also used the pandemic to their advantage, in order to further develop their plans for how our future world will look, then you can ably see the connection between that and the situation we're currently in.

Well, if you're coming across to ME as if you're missing the point, whether you actually ARE or not (perhaps due to the limitations of the written word), then what do you want me to say?;)

No I haven't missed the point, I understand that you will get out, but less than you would normally do due to the expected (but not necessarily real) restrictions.

What do you mean "not necessarily real"?

Of course they're real. I fucking HATE masks, and being *forced* to comply with wearing them - ANYWHERE, not just when entering pubs or restaurants, etc, but supermarkets and shops, plus having to sit inside church every Sunday with one strapped to my face for over an hour. It's uncomfortable, restrictive and inhuman, and I don't want to feel that way!

Then we've still got the prospect of vaccine passports, which could soon be necessary before gaining access to such venues, or proof of a negative Covid test. Fuck that - WAY too much grief! How would that be remotely pleasurable?? It spoils any kind of spontaneity and sucks all the fun out of it.

I want life to return to how it was before, where I could go about freely, and do what I like, when I liked, without all that pish, so that's what's legitimately spoiling things and why I'm disinclined to partake in them currently to the same degree.

Shame about the gigs, I'll give you that. But cinemas? I heard that the last time you went to the flicks was when that lady would come round with fags on a tray :ner: At which point you bought a home cinema :)

Lol, very good!

For us though, regardless of having a pretty decent home cinema system, going to 'the flicks' was a good night out - and escaping from the house: exactly what you're promoting. Firstly, we went to a pub for a few drinks, then had a nice meal (usually a curry), then onto the cinema to watch a good film, so not being able to do that now without having a bloody mask strapped to your chops, or conform to some other restrictive rules, simply ruins the experience and predisposes you to avoiding it.

As I've said, when the FUN returns to fun things, that's when I'll genuinely look forward to doing them as regularly as before, but not until then!

Just had a read of this - most interesting indeed!

Let's hope then that this happens then, sooner rather than later:

GM Watch notes: “Given that lab accidents are common, including in China where the SARS virus has escaped from high-level containment facilities multiple times, the details emerging about the research activities of the WIV and US scientists again underline the need for a credible independent investigation of the most forensic kind into the origins of the current pandemic. And a broader investigation is also needed into the full range of biological threats arising from various areas of potentially hazardous but laxly regulated biotechnology research.”

I had no idea that this sort of stuff existed ('gain-of-function-research'). It's fundamentally immoral, dangerous and wrong!!

It simply cannot be justified by any right-thinking person.

It's not impossible but I think it's highly unlikely. It's even more unlikely that it would be deliberately released since there's no motive. If you were going to deliberately release a killer virus you'd release one that's far more potent. Like in 'Moonraker' with Drax's nerve gas. No half measures, kills you within seconds, you've not even got time to get to the door.

Regardless, we will never find out for sure.

I don't think it was deliberately released, but simply a fact that, as stated, "lab accidents are common". Note the emphasis on 'common'.. I think that's feasible and probably what happened. I don't buy the wet market cack.

The point is, given the risks attached, these sorts of lab experiments shouldn't be allowed, let alone government funded!

What genuine benefit could possibly be achieved with these experiments, which negates the very real threat to human life, if something goes wrong??

I’ll reiterate I think...can’t remember if I posted this or not...

“Mikhail Sergeevich Gorbachev Foundation, funded by the United States, gathered 500 of the world’s most important statesmen, economic leaders and scientists, including George W. Bush (he was not the U.S. president at the time), the Baroness Thatcher, Tony Blair, Zbigniew Brzezinski, as well as George Soros, Bill Gates, futurist John Naisbitt, etc., all of the world’s most popular characters, in the San Francisco Fairmont hotel for a high-level roundtable conference, discussing problems about globalization and how to guide humanity to move forward into the 21st century. According to what He Xin had in hand, the outstanding people of the world in attendance thought that in the 21st century a mere 20 percent of the world’s population will be sufficient to maintain the world’s economy and prosperity, the other 80 percent or 4/5ths of the world’s population will be human garbage unable to produce new values. The people in attendance thought that this excess 80 percent population would be a trash population and “high-tech” means should be used to eliminate them gradually.”

I also indicated I believed that more potent “variants” (I called them weaponised) could be released. India?

There again I do contradict myself, I can’t reconcile the with no flu’ “cases” but a pandemic of COVID-19 “cases”, does the “virus “ exist?
I can’t go along with no flu’ because we’ve been wearing masks and social distancing!
I know many people have died from something, more than usual in a one year span? Looking carefully at the published statistics they seem to cover 2 winters. Why were autopsies banned by the WHO? To stop the spread of virus.....bollox.

I’m selfish I followed no “rules”, I’m prone to any viruses and many other issues, I have no immune system. I’ve not worn a mask, I’ve not knowingly socially distanced. I’ve gone about life nearly normally. I do have a smile at the mask fiasco, neck mask, chin mask, just mouth mask..... masks being rearranged frequently, removed, shoved in pockets, taken out, reusing,
anyone that think masks are effective must need their head examined

The actions taken by UK Government and many others are inconsistent and stupid with the approach to how the virus doesn’t contaminate after 10pm and many others like, you could buy beer in a pub with mask, but not drink it there, you then took your beer outside to go inside a “tent” to join people and take your mask off.....you couldn’t make this up.

“jabs” kin hell. Lol. They should be taken in the arse!

Not sorry for the rant.

The thing is the 'market cack' was predicted by an article written in Nature back in 2008 which advised that if something was not done about them then a new SARS variant would eventually appear. And 12 years later it did. That for me makes the wet market origin quite plausible.

There's labs all over the world experimenting with various types of viruses. Either for the purpose of learning more about viruses or for developing biological weapons. Or both. Why is it allowed? Everyone does it and how would you ban it? Who is going to make the Chinese stop? How would you make them stop? There's no solution.

Yes, and if 'lab accidents' truly are common, then in my view that's an equally plausible cause, and something needs to be done about it, which is as was stated in the earlier article Sandro linked to:

..**a credible independent investigation of the most forensic kind into the origins of the current pandemic**. And a broader investigation is also needed into the full range of biological threats arising from various areas of potentially hazardous but laxly regulated biotechnology research.

So what's stopping that from happening? If I were in charge, I'd ensure that no stone remained unturned, and if anyone was found responsible they'd simply be rounded up and executed for crimes against humanity.

When all this is 'over', or as over as it can be, surely there's going to be some sort of proper investigation into the cause of this virus, and whether there's any evidence to support the notion that it started in a lab - or are you saying if there was any it'll have been long covered up?

There's always a solution when you *really* want one and have the power to exercise it!

So *if* this virus was accidentally released from a lab, are you saying that it's pointless trying to find out if that's true 'cos everyone's at it', or just chalk it up to experience because 'shit like that happens', and so the MILLIONS of people around the world who've died from Covid are simply 'collateral damage', in the practice of bioweaponry, so we just move on and forget about it?

Or what??

Pretty much, yes. Not saying that's 'right' but that's how it'll be.

You've heard the joke, right?

Marco.

Yes I was once told that, but he definitely wasn't joking...

It was about 1987, and a few of us went for a post-pissed up meal. One of my mates had made himself a hat out of his serviette, and after the meal he asked for a light for his cigarette. Instead I lit the tip of his hat (who would have expected crepe paper to burn so quickly?) So I was invited to leave immediately, and didn't even get my complimentary mint :(

The guy was actually Indian not Chinese, but I'm not letting that get in the way of my story.

Pretty much, yes. Not saying that's 'right' but that's how it'll be.

And your reasoning for that is?? You honestly think that if they could prove China was responsible, due to negligence or otherwise, there would be no repercussions?

Come off it!

You still haven't told me why you think there won't be "a credible independent investigation of the most forensic kind into the origins of the current pandemic", and if any shenanigans have gone on, why it wouldn't finger those responsible..

Marco.

Because it's China and they can do whatever they want. You think they will allow an independent investigation to go poking round their labs? Assuming it was from their lab they might already have fingered the people responsible, took them out the back and shot them. But they're not going to tell the world that.

Anyway, what sort of repercussions are you proposing? Going to war with them? In practical terms, there's nothing that can be done.

Couple of things to say
Gain of function research
What if it could be used to make a virus that only attack cancer cells
One jab and job done you are cured and never get it again…
Dream on that neve will never happen as there is no money to be made on it.
We agree now that it is a bit less conspiracy the grants where made signed for and money changed hands.
All this can be tracked whit a bit of research that I know that I don’t know how to make a proper job of it.
Why blame China?
Yes the lab was there , please tick, YES / NO
There was a communication Black out in the area YES / NO
Researcher hospitalized YES / NO
Secret services did know YES / NO
Fauci did know,( he may be a little weasel that enjoy being on the telly ,it seems an happy chappie while he tell you that the cat is out of the bag but stupid he is not) YES /NO
On 28 of January he tells you, that HE CHOSE Mitigation BIG BOLD UNDERLINE on the HE YES / NO

Now having been accused of convolution (only joking) I let you tick the answers you like the most while I get same more ready
One do not wish to overstress shorth attention spans

Such flippancy mate, on a serious subject, involving the deaths of MILLIONS of innocent people, which may have been caused by someone's sheer negligence, or worse, proves that neither Martin or you have lost any loved ones as a result of this virus...

Had things been different, you may not have joked about it, or felt so able to simply 'shrug your shoulders' and move on;)

It's not a case of 'fixing' things, but simply doing everything possible to ensure that if someone was guilty of wrong-doing or negligence, that they (or the country where it was allowed to happen) are held accountable and brought to justice - and that *could* happen if the right people wanted it to.

If that were true, I'd happily watch those responsible being hanged live on TV, and would turn up the volume and clap when I heard their neck(s) snap.

OK second round why Blame China?

100% whit the previous post from Marco
read on
Grant had been in place for the research for years, one letter I have posted show that they where withdrawn due to concern about safety and then new grant were signed for and money changed hand’s again YES /NO
Why this was the case is quite simple money It is cheaper to get it done there exactly as why I get my PCBs made there YES / NO
They could have been more forthcoming YES / NO

Having ticked the to above questions on the YES, I am going to punish China and my wrath will be immense they will suffer and suffer and suffer where it hurts them most

THIS IS WHAT I WILL DO TO THEM

I will not buy stuff from CHINA for the next couple of months all projects on hold all purchases suspended I will send my suppliers emails stating clearly that “due to the current situation I will not send any money whatsoever to any Chinese concern, all my purchases are suspended and any request for quotations are withdrawn”
Will you do the same YES / NO
One does not wish to overstress shorth attention spans

Black humour's a British thing mate, as is the ability to shrug shoulders and carry on when you know there's not a damn thing that can be done about it. The two are inextricably linked.

Handwringing and demanding vengeance isn't going to change anything or bring anyone back so what's the point?
