You're right it was the 'Special Prize' on the prize board and the 'Star Prize hiding behind Bully.' There was no mystery prize. Even though the nature of the Star Prize was a mystery until you won it or didn't ( hence the 'look what you could have won' line). But according to Wikipedia 'Sometimes in the earlier series, less lavish Star Prizes (fitted kitchens and the like) were given away so as to fit within the IBA's prize limits'

Getting home grocery deliveries from the major supermarkets in this area is a bit tricky to say the least at the moment.

I'm surprised the great unwashed didn't get bored with the lockdown sooner. Saw a bunch of youngsters yesterday, seeming to be sharing a 'special' cigarette in a bus shelter. No way were they related - four were Pakistani Muslims and one was white with ginger hair. I'm sure the police aren't interested, they'd rather self isolate inside their cars :(

31st of March was the op, slit me open, moved some neck muscles around for access, opened the artery and scrapped all the crap out, rebuilt me, and sent me home on the 3rd of April.
I still have some pain caused by the muscle manipulation but that is easing.
Off work until 15th of May.

Had mine done beginning of February. They installed about five inches of synthetic artery apparently, needless to say, I didn't see it :).

I was lucky to survive after three strokes, the last and worst one, while I was being operated on I'm told. I was paralysed on the right when I woke up and couldn't even walk, but recovered amazingly quickly though and have been back to near enough 'normal' for a while fortunately.

Hope you keep improving, I expect you'll be just fine! :thumbsup:

I apparently lost 95% of blood flow through the artery. I'd known something was wrong for a while, as I was losing the ability to think. By the time I carted myself off to the doctor, I couldn't even figure out how to turn my PC on, let alone use it! :rolleyes:

Needless to say I ended up in hospital almost immediately.

Lets hope we keep making progress..........It would be nice to enjoy getting a bit drunk down the pub again! :D

The banks are having a laugh - charging 20% interest on loans (soon to be increased to 40%) and at the same time offering 0.01% to savers. They seem to have forgotten that it was we tax payers who bailed them out in 2008/9. :doh:

I've had a small spot on the side of my nose for months now, which never heals. After a poke round tinternet, I found a shitload of pics which look identical to mine, called "basal cell carcinoma". Yeah, ours are a bit like that too, although neither Del or I are in the slightest stressed. However, although the cats are used to me being in most of the time, they're not used to seeing Del as much.

Del's loving that aspect of the lockdown though, and if it had been occurring in different circumstances, she'd be properly lapping it up - especially the lie-in, in the morning!

She's managing to work from home perfectly well, taking part in live daily meetings with her colleagues, via the use of 'Webinar' software, and also in touch regularly with her students, whilst still on full pay, and loving having the spare time to make things with her fabrics and textiles (she's always been very crafty), the latest being customised shopping bags, made from recycled materials, and CV masks for us to wear out, lol!

Plus planting all manner of different veg in the garden, as we strive to be evermore self-sufficient, cooking more food than usual from scratch, and being able to enjoy proper lunch breaks (some of which may or may not include Prosecco:D) with me outside in the nice weather we've had recently. And I'm loving spending more time with her - as are the cats!

What's not to like? Well, of course a lot, given the circumstances we're all in... However, it could be MUCH worse!:cool:

When you do some investigating, it may be worth looking into hot water solar in addition to, or instead of, photovoltaic (pv) systems. Apparently they are very efficient :

Yeah that looks like it. I know next to nothing about it, so I had a read through it. Looks like the savings aren't great, though this will vary from one household to another. There looks to be a scheme called Renewable Heating Incentive (RHI), but to qualify your house would have to have a certain level of energy efficiency. Probably unlikely your house would qualify with the wooden windows, which while looking nice aren't exactly energy efficient.

So photovoltaic may be your best option, and perhaps a giant mutha of a stove which can provide hot water. Though I suspect stoves will come under scrutiny from the government soon, if not already :(

Indeed... Everything is ultimately a compromise, which is also the case in modern homes. And in terms of the latter, and the feeling of comfort and joy it brings, that's something we wouldn't swap for anything. Del and I have grown up in homes with real fires, and so have just become so used to them:)

And so for us, anything else is a distinct downgrade...

Yups... Honestly, as our lounge is fairly small, it doesn't take much heating or for the room to remain really warm either, even with 'suboptimal' windows, in the way you've mentioned. When we chose our wood burner we were very careful to get one the right size for the area it was going to heat, in order to maximise efficiency. Del designed charts/made drawings and all sorts!:mental::D

In that respect, even with it less than half full of seasoned logs and/or smokeless coal, in the very peak of winter, when it's say, well below freezing outside, you could grow tomatoes in our lounge, and I can comfortably wear a t-shirt! If it were full up, and on maximum air draw, you would probably struggle to breathe... Yes, it's *that* warm! So that's why we don't concern ourselves too much about heat loss.

Plus we know places where we can get coal and logs delivered in bulk fairly cheaply, and much less expensively than the costs of running gas or electric central heating or fires. And yes, it's defo a nicer/healthier type of heat. It's strange, as it feels warmer yet less 'oppressive'. It's hard to put into words properly, but I know that it doesn't give me headaches, in the way that central heating systems often do. Anyway, hope you get your own heating system sorted the way you want it:cool:

Other countries in Europe in a similar position to us have started to slowly implement a phased return [the key words] from lockdown, to some semblance of normality, and get the economy moving again [further key words] - and so should we, via following a clear plan as to how that should be done, laid out by the government, instead of having to listen to largely empty bluster and procrastination from them!

*That* is my point, and also crucially to avoid creating a true economic disaster. We can't continue living under what is effectively 'house arrest', and being prisoners in our homes, out of fear of this virus. We have to LEARN how to LIVE WITH IT (as it's going nowhere soon), as SAFELY as POSSIBLE, and take steps towards once again being able to enjoy LIFE in a FREE COUNTRY.
