My mother. She went to the live show as well. I've only seen one episode, it was mildly amusing. I think it helps if you're Irish and Catholic.

Most bad shows you just don't bother to watch at all but that was so bad you had to watch it in the same way as if you would have to watch a rollercoaster accident were it to unfold in front of you.

Our ancient dishwasher threw in the towel last week. Mrs. P put it on at bedtime, and when I got up 7 hours later I found the kitchen felt like a sauna - it had stuck on the 'dryer phase'. I also found it had eaten all the electric, we have a pre payment meter. Not had that happen since I was a kid, and mum sent me to a neighbour to borrow two bob for the meter.
New one coming tomorrow, yay! Don't care what the advert says, these hands that do dishes don't feel soft as my face :(
Dishwasher malfunctions... Jasper Carrott... People actually liking Mrs Brown's boys and going to see live shows... I think I might have an early night! :lol:

Anyway it arrived this morning, and it's too bloody big :( But it was a bargain, and that trumps trivialities like being able to shut the cupboard door. So tomorrow I'll be sorting it, armed with a straight edge, a circular saw, ten sausage fingers and a hangover. What could go wrong?

As an aside... I've just received a nice back massager seat, the Snailax Shiatsu Neck & Back Massager, like this:

NO question which one I would pick, The monkey bike has that retro-cool charm thing going on, plus it's a Honda :)

Ok I just noticed they're both Hondas, but the MX125 just looks like so many others being made today, and the monkey bike has character. You know you've got the right bike when upon arriving at your destination you do that 'last look' as you walk away :)

I’m with you, if you’re going to ride with the traffic, you need something big enough to claim your lane. A girl I know bought a Honda Rebel 250 twin. I rode it, and it is tiny! I could barely get on it! But I realize it was made for smaller people. But it also felt weak, I’d hate to have to deal with real traffic on that thing.

Smaller people riding large bikes is perfectly possible, it just takes a bit of leg strength and a good bit of confidence. A biking mate of mine around 1980 had some pretty big bikes, two Honda CBX1000s and a GSX1100. And he was only 5'4". At lights the bike was tilted over quite a bit, right foot on the floor. When the lights changed he just put it into gear, and the bike picked itself up. As far as I know he never dropped it.
Ithink small women riding full sized sports bikes look pretty cool, although you don't see it often. So much cooler than a huge bloke riding a bike that's too small for him, with the bike looking ready to be swallowed up his arse. :(

That’s the truth! Seeing some huge guy on a moped is comedy! I recall way back when I was still married, my ex would sit on my bike, the black and silver Harley, and declare there was no way she could ride it. She couldn’t pick it up! And I informed her that I couldn’t pick it up either. That sucker weighs 850lbs dry. So what’s the difference? And then we went to a motorcycle rally in Richmond, and there were tiny women riding huge Harleys! The Softails and 883’s, some with lowered shocks, and even the Road King, has a very short seat height (mine is 26” I think) compared to most bikes, and little women who didn’t weigh 110 pounds and 5’4”, were wheeling those big bikes around like nothing! Most impressive to watch.

I let Anita have a shot on my previous Fireblade (she's 5'4"), and she rode it from the garage to the end of the drive, and that's as far as she got before she dropped it :doh: So that that was her first and last go.
She's since had a Honda CBF600 (which she only dropped twice, both times on a grassy field), a Kawasaki ER6-F (which she never dropped) and her current one is a Hyosung GV650 Aquila, which is a cruiser type bike with a Suzuki SV650 engine, and is a keeper as the forward controls give her knackered feet (Morton's Neuroma) an easier time) :)
She's not dropped a bike for some years now, but she ain't getting a shot on my Blade, not while I've a breath in my body :nono:
Thinking of getting one of these.

Nice. Looks a bit like someone's been doing origami, but with steel instead of paper. Never ridden one, but KTM always get good reviews.
Should be a fast as hell go-anywhere bike. Don't know what quality of finish is like, but with 17C winters, you're not going to be seeing many salted roads :) I think KTM are Austrian or something, so I imagine they do get to see some cold weather.

What is this Peloton Video Cycling nonsense we see advertised on the box? Surely a TV screen is not needed to use an indoor cycling machine? It looks ridiculous.

Worth a trial ride if you get a chance. And you could have had a shot on this one, but although Mrs. P is down your way (Portsmouth) from Monday till Wednesday, she's going in the Civic :(

Very popular with Parisian nut jobs. Last time we drove through Paris, there were swarms of these passing us on all sides. They look rather strange when cornering, the way both front wheels stay on the road while leaning. But the set up obviously works.

I know what you mean Steve about the quality of finish... I'm really not 'into' a lot of polishing of bikes. I'm a Honda fan mainly for the reliability and thier finish which, I think, is second to none...
However the SV motor does appeal to me... I've just had a look and the Hyosung is very rare...so almost impossible to buy...
Maybe I should get yet another Hornet 600 and get the seat cut down as I did in the past... the Hornet is a blast, it's so good I owned it twice...:lol:
When I owned the Hornet it was impossible to keep to 70 though..... 120 is so easy...

I know what you mean Steve about the quality of finish... I'm really not 'into' a lot of polishing of bikes. I'm a Honda fan mainly for the reliability and thier finish which, I think, is second to none...
However the SV motor does appeal to me... I've just had a look and the Hyosung is very rare...so almost impossible to buy...
Maybe I should get yet another Hornet 600 and get the seat cut down as I did in the past... the Hornet is a blast, it's so good I owned it twice...:lol:
When I owned the Hornet it was impossible to keep to 70 though..... 120 is so easy...

Where I have my nails & pedi's done do eyebrow waxing & tinting so I thought I'd give it a go...
A revelation indeed.... I just had my eyebrows waxed and tinted and they look quite nice... so no make-up needed in that area now.. not that I did :)

As you can see from the smudged spot they are wet, i immediately thought leak from upstairs but it looks more like splatter. Nope, had nothing done anywhere in the flat. It does look like wet plaster in the pic, but it's a shade darker to the naked eye.

I did have some hot pepper cheese and crackers earlier, that had a bit of heat to it, but I'd like to hope I'd remember a trauma that left marks on the ceiling.

Well, after a bit of googling it turns out that my ceiling spots are not uncommon. It's something to do with the separation in certain paints. there are pics almost identical to mine on the net. I think I would have looked at it through more objective eyes had I not spent the day drinking beer and watching horror films :)

yeah I've seen the space station pass here a couple of years ago, but we have a fair bit of light pollution round here, so couldn't tell if there was any astronauts waving. 14 years since I saw any shooting stars, that was while camping in Spain. I will look out for some later though.

You can't make out any of the Milky Way from here, but I visit the West Country regularly and it's easily seen from there. Looks like an amorphous band of cloud until your eyes adjust, then you can see that it's millions and millions of stars.
Just been outside for a while, but no luck. Mirror suggests laying on your back, but I may never get up again!

Me and the missus drove to the golf course at 10 and spent 40 minutes looking for shooting stars last night. I don’t really think it was dark enough and there was 50% cloud cover. May have seen 1 or 2 but not convinced that I didn’t imagine them. Had a lovely time none the less :)

25 years ago, some friends and I, and my ex, all set up lawn chair recliners, and sit out in a large field. Starring up, a few hours went by with only a few sightings. But suddenly, a rash of them! Several per minute, and some covered half the sky, they were gone in a flash. The Earth is running into this space dust at over 60,000mph. So, I guess they are quick! It was a rare experience.
As a teenager, the family went out to the Rockies and we camped at over 11,000 feet. I’ve never seen the sky like I saw it that night. You could see some stars were closer, some farther, they appeared to spiral upwards forever. You could keep looking for the one farthest away. Some were red, some blue, green, yellow, orange, Even purple! Looking into the edge of the Milky Way was a very 3D view, giant clouds in space.
It’s easy to see why, back before TV or radio, men studied the night sky on a nightly basis, and how they noticed any star that was out of place. You can bet a meteor shower would give them plenty to talk about!

As has been mentioned by someone in a previous thread, small bikes may not be easily noticed when in traffic. Might be worth fitting a mast to your helmet, with a flashing beacon on top. Better silly looking than sorry :) And if you choose a blue beacon they may even get out of your way.
I thought the Hornet idea you had would be better - small women on big bikes look super cool imo.

Visited Honda yesterday and sat on the Monkey, MSX, PCX and Super Cub... and fell in love with the MSX.. it just felt right to me..
The Monkey was a fantastic looking thing but just a bit too jokey for my liking and even though the seat is low it's also wide so my little leggies splayed out too much :doh: the PCX was just huge and heavy and the Cub just looks too old
The MSX is an amazing little machine... I know it's only 125cc but feels like a whole lot of fun to me.. especially as I've not ridden for a while the light weight and small size really appealed to me..
I'm now looking around for a near new MSX but if not I'll do a deal on a new one... From about 2018 they also came with ABS so that's what I'll go for

Now I'm on the look out for some new mc clothing... I've already got a nice Arai full face helmet in a fancy print... I think it was about £300 when new so I'm sure it'll do for the MSX ;)
I've got some Rukka trousers but they are black so I might change them for something a bit brighter.. I've also got a decent Belstaff jacket but, again, I don't really like the colour now... thought about a leather jacket but don't think it'd really go with a small bike so I thought about one of these, mainly as it's red..;) :

Which came first, the dam or the town? I'm guessing that when the dam was built 180 years ago, there was no town. Maybe a hamlet and a farm or two, but not much else. So that begs the question, who gave permission for a town to be built/evolve, directly in the shadow of this dam. It's ridiculous! As is choosing to live there.
When considering somewhere to live, the first thing I do is look to see where water is nearby and how high the land is. I'd not live where flooding could be a problem or land erosion near the coast, although we have recently inherited a house right on the Kent coast (might sell that).
There's no way I'd ever live below a dam! We've seen it before, they are disasters waiting to happen!

The spillway ramp is clad with multiple rather thin concrete panels and probably due to age, water has got through joint gaps and eroded the soil bank beneath it dislodging the panels. There's a retaining wall to the right which has been undermined, leading to the outside grassed bank to also move.
The whole spillway surface needs replacing with a thicker reinforced concrete surface with a minimal number of panels, heftily tied together at expansion joints.
They'll need to substantially drain the reservior to do this. Not a good time of year for it really, there's six months to a year's worth of work there and the Autumn rains are not far off.

My stockpile won't go to waste. It'll just take a while to use up.

I'll use my scooter, which can do 150mpg, I can just pinch some from the car if need be. The tank on the scooter holds a gallon and that alone will last a month to start with if I take it easy. :)

So , I bought one for the Mrs ,and now its thumping out Genesis and Tom Petty ,Test Match Special ,(till the Mrs comes in and puts Abba on )and I can confuse the feck out of Alexa at the same time (Not difficult in my case )
I have a bad hip at the mo ,so jumping up and about is a bit difficult , so to just bite the embarrasing bullet by asking a bloody machine to play this and that ,is quite a novelty !
So , I am now putting another smaller Dot in the dairy next to the milking parlour , (I tried my wifes in there first to check it had ample Wi Fi :eek: ,it did )and hooking it up via a 3.5 ml plug to plug to a mainly redundant stereo player thing , so we can listen to news ,views , or any music the milker wants !!

My brother's place last Xmas someone asked the Alexa something and once it got going they could not get it to shut up. He had to turn it off in the end. I think they're creepy and I wouldn't even consider getting one.
Absolutely zero use for it anyway. I didn't spend 30 years and a shedload of cash getting my hi-fi how I want it so I could go back to listening to music coming out of a tiny little mono speaker in a plastic cab. We had that at home in the 1970s!

You want the date, the weather were you are or any general question.......just ask and you get the answer. My friend point blank won't have one......but that's up to each individual. Plus I only paid £40 second hand.....what could you get Hi-Fi related for £40......not a lot.

Nail on head Vince . Actually the bigger of the 2 echos I have seen , has an amazing bass and sound for what looks like 8 -9 ins of thick drainpipe !!
I wouldn't begin to infer that it can replace my Hifi , and I doubt I will ever put it through that , as a convienience , but once you get over the embarrassment of talking to the thing :D, its quite refreshing - and just so so easy to turn on and off and search for anything you like !!

My little Dot plugged into powered Roth speakers in the kitchen is so convenient - I use Spotify through it rather than Amazon music, but it’s just so handy when cooking to be able to change volume, skip tracks, set timers etc. I don’t really care if it records everything I say (which I am sure it doesn’t) my life is so boring no one would be very interested!

Kitchen one is connected to a Bluetooth speaker, and first thing I do, before putting the kettle on or feeding the cat, is to tell Alexa to play radio 2. Tbh, I was fine just switching on the radio. Another Dot is connected to my Amptastic Mini one into some Celestion 5's, and is plenty good enough for "discovery" or hoovering music. The big Alexa is in grandkid's bedroom and only plays "Disney lullabies".
Not worried about them eavesdropping, my life really isn't that interesting.

How long have you had them Steve ? I only know about watching what they charge , from reading an Echo Dot review ,where a chap warns about this. If you go into Amazon Music Unlimited FAQ , it mentions the single device plan is 3.99. That means if you have 3 you must be paying more for Amazon Music Unlimited , 9.99 or 14.99 a month!
Of course if you just want to stream Spotify or something else - you can and not use Amazon Music .

I've booked a motorcycle refresher course for Monday..
As I've not ridden for a while I thought it best to get a bit of an update. It's one-to-one from 9am-3pm so will be quite intensive
I'm not concerned about general riding but thought I'd get help with slow speed handling
Booked it with the peeps that got me through CBT and full license
Can't wait and just hope the weather holds..
I've purchased new gear too. My jacket is black and pink and looks feminine and my new Sidi short boots are grey & pink suede as well.. you gotta look right on a bike don't you think?

That is such a good idea. I had a long lay off from bikes and just thought I could get back on one without any problems, wrong. Everything felt so fast and I felt very vulnerable, luckily things got better but I would definitely have benefited from a refresher course.
I had some very nice Dainese boots, unfortunately when they got wet they turned my feet black hahaha.

My new Sidi's aren't waterproof either but I don't intend riding when it's wet... just in case I'll treat them to some Nikwax Nubuck and Suede proofing as I don't fancy grey/black feet :lol:

Absolutely it's 'dinky' Geoff which is what I loved about it...
It weighs so little and I could get my feet down flat which I thought was a bonus...
I reckon it'll be a great return to biking and unlike bigger bikes I've owned I don't think I'll be dropping it, which can get expensive :doh:
When I visited Honda I managed to move the MSX about no problem which will also help as I need to get it between my forecourt gates..
