I think it's more stressful for the make-up artists.
Been watching 'The Orville' - Seth McFarlane's Star Trek parody/homage. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Orville
You'd think it would be all laughs but it isn't, mostly it takes itself quite seriously. It's neither fish nor fowl really, which is at least different. Been renewed for a second season.

Something for a bit later actually. I'm just off out.
I was rummaging through the DVD collection and found my copy of 'The Hill' 1965 with Sean Connery and a host of other great actors, not seen it for years, so will be having a look this afternoon. This B&W film is superb and leaves a huge impression. It's one movie you'll never forget. Absolutely the best of British.
If you've not seen this, track it down. Highly recommended! Not many films get this many positive reviews: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059274/reviews?ref_=tt_urv

'The Hill' is one of my all time favourite films. Seen it dozens of times. Outstanding performances, directing, and dialogue. Harry Andrew's finest hour and probably the best film Sean Connery was ever in.

Beyond Skyline (BluRay)
Horrible title, but accurate as to what this film is a follow up to the SciFi film Skyline. Not as good as the original, but close to it in quality, and enjoyable. At least now I know what happened at the end of the first film, and those characters fates.
Shin Godzilla (BluRay)
Awful, poor effects, boring story. The American Godzilla of a few years ago, flawed as it was, is a much better film.
Excellent film.
I thought it was quite poor. Story was a bit silly. Plus I don't like Matt Damon in a lot of things, he is often miscast. Same with Leanardo DiCaprio.

It doesn't pretend to take itself seriously though whereas Commando does. In other words it is meant to be a comedy whereas Commando pretends it is not a comedy even though it is and everyone knows it. There's a fine line but it makes all the difference.

It is growing on me. But then I'll watch pretty much any sci-fi. Even series 2 of Space:1999, or those episodes of Blakes Seven that don't move the story arc on at all.
Watched “Look Who’s Back” on Netflix last night.
Terrific movie, very funny yet dark with a serious message.
you should watch this.
Adolf Hitler wakes up in Germany 70 years after the war in modern Germany, people think he’s a method actor.
TV crew catches up with him and make a programme about him, out mixing with the people, doing tv show appearances etc.
Think Borat style comedy, at least for parts of the movie.
What?!
A comedy about Hitler?
Not really, though its very very funny in parts.
In one scene He gets beaten up by Neo Nazis...for impersonating Hitler.
Then theres this...
https://youtu.be/NJt77kaY8EY
Satire?
...maybe?
Social commentry?
Yeah, worryingly so.

Just watched 'Tom Brown's Schooldays' 1951 on Talking Pictures TV. Very much 'of its time', but a nice old movie nonetheless.
Robert Newton being posh for a change and a Michael Hordern looking youngish.

The only good thing about Tom Brown's Schooldays is that it spawned the 'Flashman' novels. Even the later, shit ones are a better read than TBS. There's a modern film of TBS too which is also poor. Although to be fair the one Flashman film they did is quite poor too.
Flash man is superb
