It's around a hundred at the moment Al, I buy / sell a few a month (having said that my purchases have far outstripped sales recently).

Yes, it's a bit of a 'toy', I was surprised it still worked when I replaced the battery. Can't think of an occasion when I'd wear it?

Proper watch.
Does what it's supposed to do, tells the time accurately, waterproof and virtually unbreakable, if it does break it's £50 for a new one.
Why does anybody buy anything else? Lol

I also have one of these somewhere, it's spent most of its life either broken or being mended under warranty, last time it broke (out of warranty) I chucked it a drawer and forgot about it
Probably my fav..

No, it's the original strap. The watch face is different to, mine only has numbers at 12 & 6. Mine's probably a slightly earlier model.

Very elegant piece. 38mm?
Gone with this today on a sand coloured silicone strap that I'm not sure suits it? I'm thinking I might treat it to a decent tan leather one.

Very elegant piece. I've not seen that brand before.
I was searching for some time (erk!) before I found anything I particularly liked. I had a Nite MX10 a while ago but didn't get on with it. I had the movement replaced after it packed up and was disappointed the movement cost about a tenner!
Here's their website if you've not found it already:

BTW, my left wrist is quite small after I broke it badly about 30yrs ago.

Very, very classy watch Mark. Congrats on your 60th and hope you enjoy your retirement.

Quite nice it is too. Pity strap is struggling yo go round my wrist, which is the usual, hence my using mostly pockets. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191120/3266d22b02b03807c34591f431ed315f.jpg

Good to here. He wears then changes so wont bother him much I guess. He likes watches and autos, although most he has are those solar ones I think. He will like it I think. Just part of his xmas. always get him a lot of smaller things as he likes opening stuff...

My watches; nothing special but I like TW Steel. Their size suit my wrist and hand size ;)
1st watch is an Accurist my wife bought me for our first Christmas together back in Dec 2006; the black TW Steel (45mm) she bought me the Christmas of the year we married, 9 years ago yesterday in 2010 and the other 2 TW Steel watches (both 50mm) I bought last year, brand new but listed at silly times on eBay and managed to win both ;)

I looked at the green faced ones, but decided brown suited me better. The gold/silver one I have is my 'dress watch' Matches my thrust bearing wedding ring when I wear it, when we're out and about. Otherwise it sits on my desk; away from harm haha
Purports to be a dive watch but isn't, like the colour though

Wearing the Lunar Pilot today, put the ‘commemorative’ strap on it with the details of when one was worn on the moon.
I note there is some kind of litigation going on between the astronaut that wore it and Bulova. [emoji848]

Dug this unloved Poljot out earlier, far too big for me and the screw down crown slips when winding. An interesting watch though being a mechanical alarm watch

Can't say I have Gaz, only got two Parnis's (got to be careful how you say that) with one on the way, bought from private UK sellers and they've been worth what I've paid for them. The ton mark from Parnis direct plus duty / tax / handling fee etc. would be overpriced for these watches imho.
I really like the styling of both these watches here..

Lovely. I did think about an Exp II but anything over 40mm doesn't feel right to me - it's a lovely watch and I wanted it as an alternate to a GMT.
And the Exp I just suits any kind of strap - it keep my watch count down if I change the strap and not the watch

All subs are good subs!
TBH it looks like you have a great collection Roy. Mine is a lot more modest. But like with everything I insist on using them rather than just 'having' them. I have a Brietling that runs about 5 mins a fortnight slow (and it got worse after Breitling serviced it!!!) - that watch I've done everything but concrete in. I have a Sinn that I use for canyoneering and going away to places when I think a watch might be noticed.....
The one thing I don't do is dive in a Sub - a dive computer is much more efficient for that

I often wonder if I should pare down the collection (which stands at over 100 at the moment) & just have half a dozen or so 'decent' pieces but I enjoy the 'cheapies' as much as I do the more expensive pieces. I do try to wear them all, it takes me longer to decide on a watch to wear than it does my clothes.
Talking of subs (they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery)

There are some very good micro brands - NTH, Damasko, Yema, Steinhart etc. If they did a close Daytona version I'd be all over it!

Pick your comfort point...
spend a grand get a Daytona no-one but an AD could tell apart.
...but it’s not a Daytona.
Only the wearer knows the fake, and where’s the fun in that? :)
Agree, there’s some fantastic innovative design work being done in the Micro Brand world, I’d look to that before anything else.
That said,
love my Grail watches, good investments to pass on.
Yup, a modern pocketwatch, for different reasons wouldn't have same feel. No history for one.
I've 2 that are 130 yrs old.. You are investing in history there. As well as craftsmanship
I only have two watches: a 49 year old Rolex Oyster, which is worn everyday and has been all over the world with me, and a Bulova quartz, which is only worn with my Dinner Jacket, so far less frequently.
Last week I had occasion to wear the Bulova with my DJ, so thought I would post it here.

One my my amusements is to see how far away I can check to see if a 'Rolex' is genuine or not. More often or not, as long as I can see the face, I can tell, one way or another. But some times you need to look at the back of the watch; and even then I have seen some that would require opening up to examine the mechanism. Some fakes are getting better and better.

There are a couple of hard to fake points on modern Rolex - the rehaut and the etched crown. But even these are being attempted by the better forgers. As long as the price of Rolex keeps going up, so will the attempts to fake them!
Which reminds me - I'm not a fan of AP or gold but I actually saw on Insta today a reasonably priced one that didn't make me go yuck! It's quartz but it caught my attention
