Yes, like the snowflake hands.

Giving one of my more esoteric pieces an outing for the holiday weekend

Beautiful, especially on the bracelet. Don't see many of the bracelets about.

My work watches, which are unsurprisingly completely battered to hell and back.
The bottom one is for some pointless reason bluetooth and has an app, that said, I should prob use it to set the correct time.

I do love the Panerai homages. The best one I ever had was exceptional but I can't remember for the life of me what the model was. It was a bulk manufacture by a watch forum and the initials in the dial were that of the watch forum.

Lovely it was, exceptional quality. I'll rack my brains.

Good to know the Chinese had a Plan B in 1963.

The first time I visiterd China in 1987, I noted that some of the locals were using twin-lens reflex cameras made by Seagull. Clearly Seagull were/are a precision machining outfit.

These really are shock proof and very sturdy too..my pal showed me by taking off his G-shock and pelting at the wall...I was very surprised to see him put it back on working perfectly...

P.S. infact I've just found this on youtube and it took a baseball bat and a golf club to smash one..the same model I think?...hahahaha..nearly as good as Captain Scarlet..

Thanks Barry, I manage the condition quite well with the various meds I take. Took a little tweaking when I was first diagnosed three years ago but all good at the moment.

My other half is type 2 and takes metformin for it. Did you manage to control yours via your diet?

Barry
21-04-2021, 13:37
Did you manage to control yours via your diet?

Yes I did and my doctor is very pleased with the results. Each year I have an "MOT" and, touch wood, every thing is fine and I get a clean bill of health.

As regards diet, I try to avoid sugar and saturated fats. I eat plenty of carbohydrates such as pasta, rice, bread and potatos, and I eat plenty of fresh vegetables and greens. I rarely fry anything; preferring to grill, steam, bake or poach. I'm also eating a lot more fish than I used to.

Ironically, since being informed of my condition, I am eating much better now, trying different foods and now enjoy eating a lot more than I used to! So some good has come out of it.

Roy S
21-04-2021, 23:28
Well done Barry. My other half is incredibly careful with her diet but doesn't seem to be able to get off the meds.

First 'Grand Diver' for a while. It popped up on US Amazon at a decent price. Nice colour dial I thought.

I actually do the opposite with my 'cheapies' (including a lot of my Invictas) and take the rattly, tinny old bracelets off to replace them with leather, sailcloth or ND Limits straps depending on the style of the watch. It can transform the appearance and wearability of an inexpensive watch.

This Pagani had a terrible sharp edged, stiff linked bracelet.

Dropped my Paul Picot onto the tiled floor last week 🥲
The back sapphire shattered and fragments entered the automatic movement.

Yes it’s with him now ( appx £200 ) , Paul Picot quoted £150 for the rear sapphire and £350 for a partial service to remove the glass.

No love for the humble Pagani 'Black Bay' then?

It's a stunning watch for the hundred notes I paid for it - screwed links in a proper five link bracelet, milled clasp & the bezel alignment is bang on, time keeping seems fine with it's ubiquitous Seiko NH35 movement as well. I'm impressed ;)

Got some bits to do in the garden tomorrow (weather permitting) so dug out this old thing to wear

Just arrived from Ali Express (only took 5 weeks). Worth waiting for though, very impressed with the build quality but then it was a little more expensive than my other Paganis.

Bracelet sized, nice to see screwed links.

Crikey! £500 for a piece of glass and a partial service (whatever that is?) - that's ridiculous money for that. Glad you have someone decent to hand.

My Rolex doesn't display the date, so I don't have that problem. It's bad enough having to change from GMT to BST and vice versa.

Any chance of a picture of your Rolex Barry? Apologies if you've put one up before, can't recall that you have.

Yep, needs longer and longer under a strong light source to jump start it these days but it's lasted longer than a Seiko kinetic of roughly the same vintage.

Indeed. It's a word not oft echoed outside of the watch world.

I am wrong however, it's more sunburst as the embossing is radial rather than concentric.

Main indices is one zone, GMT hand is the second zone and the third is the bezel which adjusts via the crown at 10 o'clock.

Set three hours back...

Like the shape, finish and colour of the case, but not sure about the dial background. However I really couldn't put up with the mixture of Roman and Arabic numerals.

It's different, but it's not for me.

It's known as a Cali (California) dial. I don't know the thinking behind it but it's quite widely used in watchmaking, particularly on Italian Navy and Radiomir watches (Panerai and it's homage counterparts).

If it wasn't for the fact it's got 'Invicta' on the dial I'd swear it was made by someone else.
