This is the soundtrack to the film 'La Vallée', a film which I have seen but left little impression on me, and that is possibly why this PF disc did the same. Ho Hum!

Animals and Obscured By Clouds are my two favourite Floyd albums :)

You have a different mastering of Animals to me. I have the original CD issue.

Never heard of "The Body", except of course the Stephen King novel. And I did not know That Obscured by Clouds was a soundtrack, even though I've had a copy since the 70s. So much to learn, so little time.

'The Body' was a collaboration between Ron Geesin and Roger Walters, so it would be disingenuous for me to suggest that it was a documentary film soundtrack by Pink Floyd; however all four members of the group do play together on one of the tracks (on the second side, I think, as I don't possess the album).

He contributed guitar on much of Alice Cooper's earlier albums, and also composed and played guitar on the Sweet Jane "Intro" of Rock 'n' Roll Animal. Talented bloke, he's also worked with Peter Gabriel (acoustic guitar for Solsbury Hill), and also done much work with Tracy Chapman.

Interesting band. A mate's older brother had 2nd Honeymoon and played that for us, back when I was in Sixth Form but we didn't really get it at the time.

Any band that has someone called Enrico Cadillac Jnr has to have something going on.

Anyway, I must have been stoned at the time, as I can remember crawling back into my tent to lie down, and missed the launch of a pair of skyrockets at the very end! (another :doh: )

According to a couple of internet sources I saw, the 'dripping tap' run out groove for Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast is only on the original presses, and does not appear on the 2016 Bernie Grundman reisssue (the version I have), but Wikipedia reckons it does :scratch: It's a mystery!

As I usually lift the tonearm ahead of the run out on records I'm familiar with, I don't know the truth of it. So I'll stick it on tomorrow and see.

I gave Exile on Main Street a go this morning, and I can't say I was very impressed. Looking into it a bit more, I see that the version I have (2010) wasn't very well received, reviews using words like 'heavily compressed' and 'brickwalled'.

The disc itself says 'CD one', though there isn't a CD two here. To top it all, the inlay's pages are all stuck together, must have got wet at some point. Oh well.

So onto this, more my kind of thing.

Yes it is. I only really got it for 'FM', which as you'll know only appears on their best-ofs. And that's nice, but there are too many omissions on this for me to call it a 'proper' best-of. Still, it's nicely produced. One day I'll get round to buying another compilation which includes Ricki/Do it Again/Reelin'/Dirty Work. One day.

I can never understand why this LP is so popular amongst Floyd fans. Yes, we all know that 'Wish You Were Here' is an appreciation, if not a paean to Syd Barratt, and of the coincidence of Syd turning up at the studio whilst they were recording it, but overall musically the LP is IMO pretty average. Even Roy Harper's contribution is wasted.

Clearly I'm missing something, but in coming after Dark Side of the Moon, I find Wish You Were Here to be a big disappointment.

I hold Atom Heart Mother in high regard, if only for the title track. Maybe for the contribution by Ron Gessin if anything, but hearing PF play the title track at the finale of their set at the Bath Festival certainly plays a big part in my appreciation.

Never been much of a Gary Numan fan - I used to have copy of The 'Pleasure Principle'. but quickly tired of it and gave it away. I picked this up in a charity shop and thought I'd give him another go.

Well first of all I dislike the disc-book packaging because it can't be filed away in a normal CD rack (though I believe versions packaged in the usual jewel cases are available). Second, I dislike the silly cover: what is he supposed to be wearing on his head?, and it looks as if he is still using eye-liner. In a post-apocalypse world?

Anyway to the actual songs - well they are atmospheric, but dreary, dreary, dreary! I'll hang on to the disc for a little while more, to see if I can hear more on second listen.

I really rate and like Gary Numan. For more modern Albums, you might have been better of with Berserker.

Considering that their studio albums number 15, with 7 live albums, it looks like roughly double what's needed :) Though I'd say Relics is worth adding to the list. My lot include 12 studio albums, one live and one compilation. That'll hold me for a while.

I suppose if you had all of their official releases that would come out at around 42 or so, and is probably reasonable. But when people get multiples of the same album, across all formats, including original issues and reissues, then it starts to get a bit silly. I bet there's a few on this forum who've done that with DSOTM.

He probably put the eye liner on before the apocalypse and hasn't had a wash since. Which is understandable.

My 42 do not include everything released by Pink Floyd; there are some post-Waters recordings I don't have (or want). There are also some duplications across formats, as well as original issues and reissues. But a good number are bootleg recordings of live concerts performed in the UK and Europe; some reasonably well recorded, others not so.

And yes, I have 4 different issues of DSOTM, the 20th Anniversary Edition being my favourite.

I think that’s a fair assessment, although her first album Philarmonic was quite unique at the time, they (including the new one it appears) follow the same formula really, and you have to dedicate the time to listen rather than just have them on whilst doing something else. Some great piano and strings, though, might sound better through the new speakers? [emoji846]

The styling of the SD1 was influenced by the Daytona.

The Rover SD-1 was a 'fast back' 3.5 litre car used at the time by, amongst others, the police (who no doubt would have had the fuel injection version).
The SD-1 Vitesse model developed 160bhp and had a 0 - 60mph acceleration of 7 seconds.

Technology moves on, and my little Audi with its 1.4 litre engine develops 220bhp and the 0 - 60mph acceleration is 6.8 seconds.
