Wearing my design engineer hat for a sec, the Art Deco aesthetic will be deliberate I think.

They are Italian, but I'm sure Italy has many examples of art deco, isn't there an entire district of Rome where the buildings are all art deco and art nouveau?

Therefore, the styling appears to reflect the Renaissance influences of architect Andrea Palladio, which kind of makes sense as the 'Pathos' font clearly has Greek influence, along with the rather Romanesque 'pillar-like' structure of the amp itself and its heatsinks:)

IMO Only the font of the lettering of the "Pathos" heatsinks is reminiscent of Art Deco styling.

ive had them for a year or 2 brian, i dont use them all that much but usually if i go out as they fold and take less room. i usually use my nura ones. but listening today, i might be using them more now. not cheapos but not top set that sony do. they are very comfortable too

having my music and films now on 3 big drives now, i decided to clear my 2 small ones and use them for the 2 laptop backup images. both are 500gb.
I bought Acronis for 3 pcs and set about setting up this, which went very smoothly. I set it for incremental every month as not much changes bar updates.
used to use easeus, but after them basically trying to con me, i told them to take a hike and changed companies.. this was the 2020 version and available on amazon physically for 20 notes. good value.
ive just realised fully, that im not using my amp and speakers. this is partly due to living next to a nutcase. so, i may just sell it all. sad as the amp/dac and speakers are about as good as it gets

Bad neighbours can really put a dent on happiness Grant, I know this myself.
I’d think carefully though before making any big moves...
these things come and go, and it’s always hard when you miss the kit you pass on.

I agree with Martin, make the nutcase's life intolerable. :)
An alternative is to soundproof the party wall. I've heard good things about this system (https://www.soundproofingstore.co.uk/reducto-clip-system). They claim in excess of 60db sound reduction, even half that should do the trick.
Looks expensive that. Whereas the 'Manuel Noriega' technique is tried and tested and absolutely free :D
Just make sure you switch it off at 2300 hrs so the cops can't touch you.
I now have no neighbours and have never been happier.
Guy is mental health issue. It's pretty much impossible to deal with. Too many people in loop and quite frankly none of them interested.

We have fairly decent neighbors luckily, plus my listening room is my loft. its really sad that the guy next door is causing you hassle, is there nothing the council can do for you.
unless he gets too boisterous they are scared to do anything tbh. he gets all the protetion that folk like me dont. its a disgraceful system... if i put mine on for half an hr he gets the feling he can put his on for the whole day and night. Council say dont put mine on....
its do gooders gone mad tbh but what can you do? im not insensitive to mental health as my step son suffers basically the same thing as he does, but if he behaved like that i'd slap him. his family think its fine as he isnt living near them. council too.. he isnt bothering a counciller so they couldnt give a shit.
im at a xroads in my life and at my age i shouldnt be. still, im sure its my fault;)

That's a real shame about your system, although as you say, you're in a no-win situation.. Don't see why it wouldn't sell on here, though. It's minty-mint and folks here know you sell good gear and are reliable, so I foresee no issues in that respect and am sure it would go to a good home:)

That's a shame mate, hope you get something sorted. The last time I heard your system, it sounded superb. Those Edingdales are fantastic speakers.
We're very lucky here to have very good neighbours too. We were thinking of moving a couple of years ago but decided to stay put partly because of the neighbours.

no i know and they do shut him up.. but if i put anything on he think its open season again. the whole thing starts again alas. Its difficult communicating as he doesnt talk well and is paranoid schitz etc. His family are of course as nutty as he is so i get pressured that way too.

its a very nice setup tbh and match very well, as you'd expect, with speakers being an easish load and very sensitive. The Dac is extremely good in it too and its ideal if you want to reduce boxcount. It also has a superb headphone amp and a remote.

hi brian. yes it is.. head amp has its own psu inside etc; its not just tapped on the the outputs.. loads of power and finesse.. good dac in it too helps.. These are well over 3k now, and sound like it.:)

I'm down to just headphones and pc"s these days but still very pleased with my tunes.
I've good few set of cans and although all good I have to say currently the Nuraphones are unbeatable.
I've lots of speakers around and a few amps etc but I don't feel need to wire them up such is quality of sounds..

they are an oddity i guess. "With in-and-over-ear drivers and two extra speakers on each side, NURAPHONE is uniquely equipped to deliver unparalleled personalized sound". they have software that sets them up to suit your ears and hearing ability too so you start hearing like a 20 yr old again.lol. thats the big ones that i prefer. ive a sey of their small ones too although they are good they dont suit my ears.
ive a top set of sonys and bose and tbh the nuraphone leaves them for dead; as good as they are.

I listened through some Quiet comfort phones a few years ago, and thought they were very good. Cancelled outside noises so all I heard was the music. Have to keep battery charged tho for the noise cancelling to work.
A nice thing to have, but then you're already sorted for quality headphones. Popular with commuters and folk flying somewhere, I'd imagine you'd sell them easily.

guessing you could use them with an adaptor but for me headphones are best with digital. stick a long range dongle onto your pc's usb and stream away. good quality bluetooth is as good in my opinion to analogue cans unless your spending silly money. i can be pretty much anywhere in house and they work. upstairs too.

Yes they are very good although not quite at nuraphone level. but as you say the soundproofing is second to none, as is comfort.

they make calls too. although they dont have noise cancellation the seal is pretty good so dont really need it

fit well these and unobtrusive. total time usage is 45 hrs using case to recharge the buds, tho between charges you get a decent time, as no noise reduction (anc) uses lot of battery. audio on a call was really excellent on both ends. music sound good too.
Thanks, added to my shortlist! (Just got a new work laptop, and will make sure the Bluetooth works okay with daughter’s cheapies before committing to anything, that can wait until New Year!)

I think many folk mount them too high up on the wall, and doesn't make for relaxing viewing, especially if you're sat quite close to it. If you have it sited where your current one is, it might seem a little higher up anyway, with it being bigger.

i agree. mine is centre of tv at eye height when im sitting. im maybe 8 ft away. as one i have has a fairly big frame, this new one wont be physically much taller(inch or so) but a little wider. The wall bracket has a couple of glass shelfs. They are not especially stable but as long as it fits(central stand as opposed to feet), i doubt it will be much heavier so should be ok.. If not or im dubious i will just get an adjustable vesa one.
43 is quite a bit bigger than 37, you'll be able to see what's going on in the films now ;)

I didn't want that to be true, but I really can't think of anything else.
We have both a 37" and a 43" telly and find either acceptable in their respective environments. The 37" sits higher than the 43" - and I have to say I prefer watching the 43"; not because of its size but because of the viewing height relative to the sofa. The viewing distance to either screen is similar (~ 2m).
The previous owner of our house mounted the TV on the wall above the fireplace, in my opinion it was much too high, but luckily I was able to hide all the cabling behind a box canvas picture that fits perfectly and the TV is in a much better position in a cabinet.

not set up right yet but, yes its certainly bigger, brighter and a bit clearer, and its not a 4k transmission, just being upscaled. the cable, which was one of those thin ones we all bought a few years ago wouldnt manage the 4k properly. fortunately i though it might be case so had picked up a nice 8k one... works fine now.
will set it up picture wise some other time. sound is good too.

price is ok. i will likely need to get a new one for my other run as i am not sure whats 4k and whats not. there is a 4k bluray and apple box going into a switch(switch is i think 4k). not sure re cables whether i upgraded any to 4k or not. thats for another time.. got my amazon stick 4k working fine. i might leave tv dumb.

common issue that, just turn the backlighting down, it's usually set at 100% by the factory.

When we got an LG OLED TV a couple of years ago, one of the first things i watched was season 2 of "Goliath" (a series on Amazon Prime starring Billy Bob Thornton), as I'd seen and quite liked season 1.
The image was so sharp it was more like watching 4K CCTV coverage than a television programme. I really didn't like it, and never bothered with the rest of the series.
I personally would prefer to sacrifice absolute sharpness in favour of realistic skin tones and more film-like picture quality. Which my old Panasonic plasma delivered in spades.
'Filmaker' mode is what's needed to give you the plasma effect but with much more shadow detail.
I have it on my OLED and it's awesome, I didnt think I could beat my Panasonic Master Series Plasma but my new Panasonic OLED beats it hands down. 4k HDR etc without that strange 3d effect that you can have with lower specced models.
A lot of TVs don't have Filmaker mode unless you're paying for the premium models.
My LG has some sort of 'Movie' setting but I'm not sure that's the same thing as 'Filmaker'. I've never tried it.
Been steadily it adjusting this bit by bit and it's improving towards my liking. Got frozen planet on and it's extremely life-like.

well after a long time twiddling and viewing i think the tv is at about best for me i can get it. certainly a big improvement on out of the box..

ive slowed it down a bit, as that setting was having a detrimental effect on picture. seems ok on what i watch; i dont watch footy etc. ive forgot what it was doing but i read something re it and said to myself; im getting that..lol
pic is much more to my taste, although im still missing the subtle pic my old set had. it wasnt as sharp(ive run sharpness down too) but it did look the most natural tv ive ever seen... my brother used to say that too when he came in..it was an old lg which has got more miles on it than the qe2 and still works.

No, there's no setting for anything like that. It was £600 and the new model that replaced it was £2.5K and probably a lot better, but no way I'm paying that for a telly.

no i bought of someone on etsy. the calander i got years ago although one of the bits is duplicated causing some months unable to be displayed. you just turn the bits around for days, months and date.. so i often block off months. its made of wooden blocks etc.
the mother/child is one of 3 i have on mantle from willow tree. different ages but all mother/ child or young girl. the black bronzed one is cwsl. one of the rarer ones it seems as ive not seen it since i got it about 20 yrs ago

I can see from where I'm sitting that Anita's collection includes those three. She also has a pretty good coins collection, and has also started collecting gold charms. So I think my record collecting will be free from criticism for now :)

cheers.. if opened, it will change a bit as its getting oxidized a bit but it should last a longish time; years i'd think. unopened as these are, forever really if stored right. its wise to turn bottle over once a year to keep cork moist imo but it might not be everyones. you could top the part open bottles with something like inert nitrogen i suppose like wine and keep air off it.

yeah the 67SE is a good machine.. im stuttering along mate :D not able to do anything much now since i had a bad time with a vaccine, so just about get out to car these days. gonna have to do summat about the garden tho lol. i get grass cut but gonna try and poison some weeds. i found the poison; just have to make sure i dont get it on me lol
Otherwise its films and music mostly.

I changed stock tips to comply hear more soft tips. Much better for me anyway.
These things are very good. ANC is superb for buds and have a strongish volume and excellent sound.

only got today but initially i'd say they are ahead of the cambridge and the bowers and wilkins ones. but will need more time with them to be sure. got them on full charge now. very impressed with them tho. the sponge tips do help as well for fit and for isolation. but take off the anc and you just about hear normally which is good. with it on you hear nowt

Balanced certainly produces a better sound although using my oppo planars with standard 3.5mm jack sound very decent too .

think so yes... its quite impressive using balanced cable especially. but its fast and seems pretty solid. time will tell tho:)
ive put a 500gb sd card in it too and have stuck some music on it. it also has 64gb of its own memory. a very fast processor and plenty ram; good dacs etc so , yes not cheap but it is up there near the top of the middle players.
the little earphones are good too once you get right buds on. but realistically i will probably get another pair of large ones that i can fit balanced cables to and are fairly low impedence

cheers brian... its a new directon but attached to my digital system. for when im away from the laptop as my spondylitis is causing difficulty using a pc so much. this connects to interweb or my pc's roon etc and i can even use it in car should i want to.
its got a lot of abilities that ive not even touched yet. i am impressed with it i have to say
You can see just a bit the geometric glass back. It's difficult to photograph. you can see the light shooting in lines etc
The glass makes it heavier I think too.

Finding the system very good. The 4.4mm balanced connection gives a much more powerful response which help us oldies hear more.

In general I don't like headphones as I dislike the sound appearing to be inside my head and not in front of me. Also when you turn your head the whole soundstage turns with it. This is unnatural and disconcerting.

i always wanted a full set of electrostatics.. never happened tho.
this is my fiio fa5s hybrid in earphones.. semi open these and balanced.. sound as good as they look. 106db sen..

This little dac amp that connects to phone or pc is a lovely sounding thing. Really good guitar and vocals with Dylan.

This is my other dac amp for cans.
Again it's from Fiio, and it's a btr7. Bluetooth or wired connection to phone/pc, and wired cans. Has a decent battery and it's pretty small.
Has a great sound too.

headphones wise, the focals, with a new balanced 4.4mm cable. oppos are decent too, but am waiting on a new wire for thos from the states.... and i guess if you stretch to iem's then the fiio fa5s hybrids too(also balanced)are very good
wireless wise, i think the big nuras are superb but not good comfort wise, although you do get used to them. the bose 45's are supremely comfortable and sound decent too. in ear, the cambridge and the devialet are best sounding.
the focals are elegias by way. the stock cable is ghastly
More listening with this btr7. It's very good and I think a very good buy. Worked well connected as a dac 2.0 to my pc and with roon

They've packed a lot into that, 5 amplifiers and 5 speakers! Nice looking too, I can imagine it appealing to youngsters, to take to the park or the beach, and all bluetoothing their songs to it off their phones :)

its surprising how good it sounds tbh. apparently you can run 2, but not sure how that would work tbh.. the spacial audio is pretty good and you hear different stuff from different directions at times if you move head.
ive been thinking of getting something like this if i dont want cans on etc..

ah yes the aero.. was a decent bit of kit, a bit like the size of a zeppeln. probably about same price too originally. these are 200, but i got mine for 150 as i had a voucher. its a lot smaller and deliberately portable...

my neighbour has similar unit just been listening to it tonight.
Wouldn't swap like but it's pleasant enough and you can hear studio ambiance and that so it's obviously pretty clean within its limits.
It's better than I had hoped so a plus there. Construction is pretty good too. Metal front(SS I think) back is I think plastic tho. The button section is covered in a rubber or silicon and buttons need a firm press. Waterproofing is level 7. Battery if played very loud won't be great but at 59% is supposedly 10/12 hrs

pretty good geoff. so far anyways... can be a variable pre or a standalone dac with fixed output. got coax, optica as well as usb and optional bluetooth reciever. no holes in the case to get dirty or worse either.
So I've put it up on temp feet so the drives below get air etc.
Might need to redo things later.
Pleased with it overall.

ive really enjoyed this unit so when an offer came around i got a second one. i can wirelessly connect them together and it then splits the stereo to the 2 units rather than in the single one... so 50 watts a channel now
