Method to upload photos to site...

Click on your username at top. On next page down left hand side there is a section called albums. Click on more, then on create album. Give it a title and description, leave it public and save.
Then click upload pictures, the add files. Add files which should show in a row below. Once you have the ones you want in that row, click done at bottom right. Then save changes button.

Now when you click on that pic, you willl receive a bb code at bottom.. post that directly into your post( no brackets are needed at they have been added).
Done...

Just tried this, it works fine and is a lot less hassle than using an image hosting site.

Updating after use for a few days is positive. They are both very good and the ability for the sall Dot to connect to your stereo is great. It plays spotify really well.
The big Echo is a standalone unit and has an amazingly good output and tone.... on request she gives me most things I ask for:eyebrows:......News, weather, wiki, alarms, reminders, takes notes; pretty much a polite secretary who plays music on request. can even give her a line from a song and she will find and play it.. as it grows it will be excellent for disabled folk, as you can add lights, coffee machines etc and doorbells soon.

A jico sas for my shure m55.

And now M6 is spying on everyone through these devices! I saw a video online, the owner asks, "do you always tell the truth?", and the device says, "I always tell the truth as best I can". So then he asked," are you connected to the CIA?", and the device immediately cut itself off! Funny stuff

I feel the same. They can look at my computers all they want, nothing interesting in there but my latest band recordings. And I'd be pleased if they would listen to them! I think it was Nixon that was supposedly having the CIA looking into TV's that were looking back into everyone's living room. At that time they told him it was an insurmountable task. But now thanks to Slodon, we know the NSA is listening to every cell phone and email on earth! I can't imagine the tedium of that job.

1 g to 1.5 g with rec of 1.25g Brian. There was a very slight creak in the cantilever at higher weights(cantilever is incredibly thin) suggesting it wanted a lower level. its silent now.
Yes it sounds remarkably good.

Decided to completely re set up the cart. Not easy when you can only stand over unit for 2 mins at a time lol.
Still I found a couple of issues and have sorted them. I hope. Retracked it at its desired 1.25 gm give or take a hundredth. Seems to be behaving at moment. It does show up any dirt or flaws though due to its low track weight and profile.

Great cart. Quite sophisticated yet has a good output. The integra shell is carbon fibre and give bi direction setup. Mines a mk1 but might get a mk 2 stylus for it later. Supposed to be interchangable and give it a good lift

Nope, not ime! :nono:

If the arm is happy with the high compliance XLM mk1 then the mk2 will be a major disappointment!
I think they only brought out the lower compliance mk2 as the mk1 didn't suit a lot of arms.

These connected gizmos are a huge security hole. I'm assuming it works via your main wifi router, if so, you should do some research for how to keep it isolated from everything else as they tend to connect using plain text and basically share your wifi network with anybody nearby.

ressurected these cables as I forgot to try them due to ill health. found them upstairs and as i was in mood thought I would give them a try with the monos. Took the old cable off and found that the plugs were failing with cracks etc. never really been out much so may have been when I had the accident.
anyway think there is a distinct improvement

amps are on speakers:)

I was using that configuration Grant but got this advice elsewhere against putting power amps on speakers -

'The Tannoys will vibrate (all speakers do) and that will feed back into the electronics (in the amps) which will be microphonic to a degree. This will cause some low level smearing.'

I'm currently using them on chopping boards on footers on the floor but have to say I've not noticed much (if any) difference.

The Avantree class 1 bluetooth. Can go a fair distance and even though a wall. Touch screen, Adj vol, a passthrough and toslink in and out as well as 3.5mm.

Oxfam always have had a bizzare pricing policy. I guess it come down to the person who values the stock: whether he consults the record buyer's guide, ebay etc., but round here most classical LPs are priced at £5 or more, and if it's a Decca SXL pressing then at least £10 regardless of condition! Even the staff think the prices asked are absurd.

Suffice to say if they had adopted a more sensible pricing policy, I would have spent many hundreds of pounds there.

jandl100
05-12-2017, 16:16
Absolutely! I wouldn't buy them at that price, even in my mad vinyl days.
But, strangely, they do sell at those prices at that shop. I think crazed classical vinylists (?) come from many miles away to that Hereford Oxfam.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171211/7dd963f092ebc722abc30e2ce78c91cc.jpg

Next is waiting til in fit enough to bend round back of the gear

Was feeling fit so did some alterations to the hifi. Altered wiring and disconnected the Belkin filter/distribution box. Also the chromecast and battery and a coax to tos convertor. TT preamp now wired into same line with the Alexa switch gear so it comes on without a fiddle as it has no switch on it. Tape deck also disconnected. Both it and the Belkin . Will be up for sale sometime.

Mechanism is super quiet and think Gary added something inside as it weighs a ton

Lovely bit of kit and as always a good looking setup Grant.

I suspect the weight is mainly due to the Oppo being of superior quality to your Pioneer chap.

Yup,
I've modded the player with some extra bits n bobs inside as well as damping the chassis and the mechanism itself.
Quite a bit heavier and more solid feeling than the standard box.

This improved the picture and audio quite a bit actually especially the Darbee processing.

be interesting to hear your take on things dac wise....oppo is building a formidable reputation in the cans community!

I spent very modest money at richer sounds for a sony blu ray player and was flabbergasted at the jump in picture quality....the digital game moves quickly.

The oppo is rather special in that arena..

struth
09-01-2018, 16:46
Picture at 1080p is superb with the darbee processors added. Sound through my bt3 actives is excellent too. Transport is very quiet. Will need to alter wiring to try oppos own dac

Grant,
Have you had a chance to have a play with the Oppos media streaming features at all?

Using the Oppo control app for your Ipad its a great streamer for hires into your dac.
Plays all music formats.

Give it a whirl. :)

yup!
downloads metadata from the web and stores it in app.
Where do you store your music files you play on the Pi?
Can access those from the Oppo app too, or any other network shares you have.

Another top tip is to use the HDMI input for a TV box to take advantage of all the Oppos video processing gubbins and send the audio from it to your dac?
I run an Nvidia Shield android TV streamer through mine, can watch Netflix, Amazon, Youtube etc in best video and sound quality.

Your Firestick would be perfect for it.

struth
10-01-2018, 22:14
The pi has a hdd plugged into it so can't share that I guess It is a phantom drive on network tho no idea how to share it.
Your knowledge of these matters exceeds mine by a few light years

Gazjam
10-01-2018, 22:19
Easier just to plug a hard drive with media to one of its usbs, no difference in quality.

Yup.
you just tell the Oppo to output whatever s plugged into it by hitting the ‘source’ button on the remote, a list pops up and select Hdmi input.
The video output from your firestick is then passed thru the oppo and display out to your tv, audio to your dac.

Simples. :)

Anything you plug into it should work Grant.

Got the Amazon stick in back and a hdd in back too. The oppo can also see and pull files from the pc but I cannot push files to it or see the attached hdd on pc. I can on the rpi but not on oppo Sound from files in oppo were very good
The picture from Amazon is a bit sharper I think and seems to process faster

I was wondering if there was any benefit in extracting audio from the hdmi signal?

Gazjam

Played with HDMI audio extractors Grant,
Its worth it, as due to licencing restrictions the 103 outputs up to 48Khz via coax, but a different story from HDMI.

24/96 instead of 16-24/48, a good thing
Not done it with my own yet, need to get around to it.

Can you hear the difference, maybe but subtle at best imo.

cheers, was considering it but would likely need to use coax out of the extractor. there is a nice Neet one although not cheap
