Thing is, we've had an incredible run of success for years, so we may just have to accept that all good things eventually come to an end.
Marco,
I think I prefer the Championship to most Leagues. Such a low-budget dogfight.
Such long-suffering fans. Our family is down in the dumps. Derby are hopeless. Sky Blues (Coventry) tipped for the drop. Apparently most of the clubs are broke. :(
Good day on the South Coast anyway.
We have local minnows, Havant and Waterloo, and Eastleigh going in the FA Cup.
Who the heck are Cray Valley Paper Mills? The romance of the cup.
Pompey did OK yesterday. Local rivals, Southampton affectionately known as "The Scum" to us, top of the Prem.
Will be watching with interest. I don't fancy the Baggies with Tottenham. Anybodies game otherwise.
Well, Torquay 5 - Crawley 6 must count as a classic:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54840194
It was only 2-0 with 5 minutes to go.
I don't suppose Crawley will win the FA Cup this year. But a memorable moment.

excellent result and adds to the goal diff, which micht just be the difference this year
Nah, I doubt it! You'll have it well won on points alone, at least that's my feeling on matters. Anyway, well done on the rout of Hamilton - giving some team a doing like that has been on the cards for a while:)
Marco.
a long way to go yet mate.. you have 2 games in hand, although not sure who agin. i would say celtic cant afford to be first to blink tho.
i would add that although celtic probably have more "better players", rangers seem better coached. so maybe team play v player power ...
I wouldn't necessarily disagree with your last point, given how much Gerrard has learned and improved as a manager, but you can't dismiss the HUGE success Lennon's had with Celtic, both in this spell and his previous one as manager, domestically and in Europe.
I mean, it was only last season he led us to home and away wins against Lazio, so you don't do that being a bad coach... However that said, he has made mistakes this season, although some of them forced upon him due to key players being missing, and certain ones not getting the move that they wanted in the summer going in a bit of a huff....
However, Rangers are just much stronger this season due to both Gerrard learning and maturing as a manager, and also having signed some good players in the summer who've gone on to improve the quality of the starting 11, but also their subs bench, which both you and Robin have also correctly identified.
That said, and all being true, I still stand by my point that Rangers are coping better playing at home in an empty stadium, where Celtic are undoubtedly struggling, as under normal circumstances we'd not have lost all those games at home, and so it's no 'happy accident' that our away form has been better, both in domestic games and in Europe.
I'm convinced that's a factor, and so I'm predicting that our home form won't properly pick up until we start getting some fans back in - and by then it'll be too late. Also, as I've said before, it's probably just Rangers' year (Celtic cannot go on forever winning everything) - and if that's the case, then for Rangers fans the taste of success will be sweet, well deserved and LONG overdue!
Marco.
I seriously fear for "The Beautiful Game" in these straitened times.
If the Premiership doesn't recognise they need the smaller clubs, they will be doomed too. Put up some cash.
Not many people know this, but the best Football training pitch is 3 miles from my road in Pompey. :)
Alan Ball said that when he was manager of our hopeless local Pompey oafs. And he played at Wembley, which is hardly rubbish.
It's the old Royal Marines training ground in Eastney. Built on pebbles, so free-draining. Flat as a pancake.
Come to think of it, it might have a future as a Racecourse.
Fingers crossed, lads, that the boys can do it tonight!:more::more:

Always hopefully Marco
Ew. Good luck Scotland.
I've got it on the Radio.
Bookies offering 4/1 on Scotland at 90 minutes.
That's a worry. But the rain must help. Tough lot, the Serbs.
Not bad so far... We just need to convert our possession into chances and score a goal. Serbia have been rather disappointing, but that kinda worries me.
Griffo to come off the bench and score the winner?;)
Marco.

Not the easiest pitch to play on, we just need to latch on to some the second balls, still hopefully of achieving a result.
I once met a couple of Serbian girls at a Party.
Built like brick shithouses.
Scary.
Never get onto Politics with a Serb. They are very intense about the good old days under Marshall Tito.
Christmas is in January in Serbia.
They knock back that Raki stuff. Evil drink, IMO.
Still 0-0. Oh wait. 1-0 to Scotland.
C'mon Scotland.
10 minutes to go. Waste some time with substitutes. Take it to the corner flag to waste a minute.
Fall over with an injury.
I know this game.
Ye Gods. 1-1. Extra time. All the good players substituted.
You are doomed, boys.
Ah well, we beat the Paddys in a friendly easily enough.
This Scotland game is misery to listen to. Can't see Scotland doing anything but try and hang on for penalties.
Things calmer in Northern Ireland against Slovakia. But more penalties I suppose.
What's Griffo got to do to get on?
Marco.
{Edit: at long bloody last, he's just come on!}
Scotland go first. That is good statistically.
YAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! YA FUCKIN' DANCER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brilliant, Marco and Robin.
Apparently Scotland have never lost on a penalty decider.
Better than my lot. England against Scotland on June 18 at Wembley. Always a goodie.
I think you can beat Croatia and the Czech Republic at Hampden. You won't beat us, but should make the next round. :)
we should have won in 90 minutes , but its been a long time coming
Indeed! But we only ever do things the hard way, don't we?
*So* delighted, though... I know you're not a fan of Griffiths, but just how brave was he to volunteer to take the first penalty, having only been on the pitch for 5 minutes? And then to score..
You have to give him credit. And I just wish Celtic had signed Marshall in the summer, when they had the chance, instead of Barkas!
Anyway, that's 22 years of pain over!!:carrot::carrot::champagne::mex:

i had no problem with Griif taking a penalty always though he would score. Delighted with the result, stating the obvious Croatia are the the top team in the group, not England.
Lol - realistically we've no chance, but at least we'll be there. And TBH, as massive underdogs we'll have nothing to lose. Far better being in a group like that, than with 'diddy teams' we're expected to pump! That *always* ends badly.
I'm looking forward to it - hey maybe Griffo can go one better against England this time?:D;)

I was in Mexico when Griff scored the 2 free kicks against England, still can’t believe we didn’t win that game.
Me neither... I was BEYOND gutted!! Still, maybe we'll get our revenge in the summer, or just get totally pumped!:D
Marco.
I haven't yet studied the Form on the Euros.
But the group of Death is F. France, Germany and Portugal.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/european-championship#tab-F
Everything else looks fairly predictable.
Scotland have to get past Croatia, who are a tougher proposition than Serbia IMO. But home advantage will help.
Very nice that the Taffs and Jocks are there. Maybe it's coming home.
I think England have got to be one of the genuine favourites this time, and could well win it. For me, they'll be there or thereabouts. Minimum the semis.
If we can get out of our group it'll not only be a miracle, but the greatest ever achievement in Scottish international football. But if anyone can do it, it'll be Stevie Clarke! You can really see now the benefits of his influence. And by then, we'll hopefully have all of our best players properly match fit, especially Griffo hopefully firing on all cylinders.
On top form, he's defo our best striker, especially at set plays, and could be set to have a major influence on Scotland's fortunes. Unfortunately, Rangers have too many foreigners in key positions. Midfield and upfront, I can see the Celtic connection paying dividends, just like it did tonight! Christie is a class act, and for me doesn't get the recognition he deserves.
Marco.
We are not expecting Scotland or Wales to win the Euros.
I am not sure I fancy England either. Jamie Vardy has a dead eye in front of goal. Harry Kane is the guy for Penalties. Marcus Rashford has a sound first touch and cross.
Best footballers I ever saw were Pele, Eusebio, and Bobby Charlton.
Legends. :)
Great tribute here to the man from Saltcoats who 'done good': https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54908387

it was a strange night with Scotland by far and away the better team for most of the 90 minutes, with some great performances. It’s always emotional when Scotland are involved, especially for us who are older and remember when we used to qualify all the time.
well done to them all.. scraped in instead of the usual scraped out.:eyebrows:
I am still recovering from that momentous scrap last night.
I was pondering those moments when the little teams surprise you. Might Scotland win the Euros?
Denmark and Greece surprised us with Euro wins.
England, and I checked, have never made the Final of the Euros.
My view is that to stand a chance, you need three outstanding players.
A very calm temperament and a team that keeps its shape and tactical plan despite the odd moment of bad luck.
When Bobby Charlton whacked in another goal, you didn't see him fist-pump.
He just turned round and ran back to the centre-circle for the next kick-off.
Rearranging his combover hair in the process. Wish you well, Bobby. I believe you are poorly.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has tested positive for coronavirus while on international duty with Egypt. A lot of these tests seem to happen when abroad on international duty.
Pool dont have their troubles to seek, and this will mean he is unavailable i guess for a few games. wont do city any harm, or leicester who are their next opponents
Leicester will be rubbing their hands in glee.
Always good when opponents suffer misfortune to their best players.
Called schadenfreude in German.
The bookies, who I trust more than most pundits, still don't fancy top of the table Leicester much at Liverpool.
Offering 5-1 on a win.
The away side don't often win at Anfield. How it works. :)
Salah has played 8, scored 8 so will be a miss.
I am thinking 1-1 draw on this fixture.
Both teams going home happy.

Marco.
I did think of you, Marco, when I listened to the news of Wrexham.
Apparently the new owners have guaranteed you will beat Chester more regularly. I expect you follow tradition and call them "The Scum"
And huge ambition.
Radio 5 Live did play your club song. It was rather good as these things go.
We Footy fans are SO missing out on our tradtional terrace singing abilities!
My beloved Sky Blues (Coventry City) can sing the socks off most teams. And I have had added my soul-felt contribution at times. Though how Reet Petite got into our Reportoire beats me. But fun. :D
But the team I fear is Norwich. "On the ball, City" is a way better song than "The Sky Blues Song"
I have to be honest.
i see Scotland's brush with greatness didnt last long... 2 games lost in row..no goals scored... back to normal then:eyebrows:
I don't think anybody takes the Nations League that seriously. Very makeweight competition.
Even the Germans wanted out. Giving it 0-6 to Spain.
No, it's the Euros that count. Steve Clarke might hatch something up. I saw him play a few times for Chelsea. Good footballing brain.
And let's not forget that the small sides can surprise us. Belgium are not a big country. But a lot of self-belief.
They seem to have given up on everything else now they've qualified for the Euros!
Marco.
Sir Keir Starmer was on Desert Island Disks this morning. He's quite the footy fan. Still plays 8 a side.
His last choice was "Football's Coming Home" by Dave Baddiel. What a good song!
Only fixture tonight is my Coventry City versus Birmingham City in the Championship.
Brum are the Sky Blues' landlords, so am not sure it's exactly a home fixture for Cov.
We really need to get something out of it.
His last choice was "Football's Coming Home" by Dave Baddiel. What a good song!
That depends on what you consider as "home";)
Marco.
Sir Keir was at the Euro game in 1996. The Germans beat us on penalties again in the semi.
That was the one that Gareth Southgate missed. Didn't it go over the bar?
He said the atmosphere was intense, And that song was great sung by such a big crowd.
It was the old Wembley, which I really liked. The new one has less atmosphere IMO. And the cheap seats are a long way up. Can't see much.
Well, that was a flippin' nightmare to listen to.
Coventry Goalie won a bunch of flowers at the end against Brum. 3 good saves.
0-0. That'll do. 2 points above the drop. We just look for consolidation this year. :)
i see celtic scraped a point v hibs... now gers meet the dons tomorrow.. a crunsh game in the league maybe.. especially as Rangers dont usually come back from breaks in great form...
do you think nl will survive this marco??
Of course... You don't sack a manager who's won as much for Celtic as he has, less than halfway through a season, including when being just one game away from a quadruple treble!;)
Only the braindead idiots, mate, who think that Celtic have got some divine right to win everything all of the time, sign up to that pish:doh: Or are WAY too obsessed with 10-in-a-row. Sack Lennon and get who, right now, that would be better and also able to hit the ground running, plus handle the pressure for the remainder of this season? Nae cunt.
Today's fightback from 2-0 down says enough for the time being, until we get some key players back... I seem to remember a 3-3 comeback at Easter Rd, (from 3-0 down) a few years back, when Lenny was 'on the verge', as it were, and look what happened after that...
As I said mate, not much will improve until big Jullien returns (along with Forrest) and Edouard starts scoring more than penalties again, so judge us then, even if it's too late. I fully expect Rangers to win tomorrow, and as I said before, also the title this season. It's YOUR time now!
Marco.
OK, just interested in your opinion. I doubt they have the desire to spend so much cash at moment anyway. Both clubs are feeling pinch, and Celts spent quite a bit this year too excess of 16m as far as I know.
Yes they are missing a settled defence
Absolutely on both counts, mate. It would make no real sense to sack Lennon now, especially after what was always going to be a tricky fixture. Even Rodgers had a poor record at Easter Road, when Lennon was Hibs manager!;)
Marco.

very good result, but too many misses....
Need to stop trying to walk the ball into the net
I hate to tell you this, but the Scottish Football League is strictly small time. :)
Much as I enjoy results like Forfar 4 East Fife 5, just for poetic value.
I am clearly hopeless on the Big Boy's league the Prem. Liverpool soundly thrashed Leicester 3-0 tonight. 64 League games unbeaten at home is some record. Only exceeded by Chelsea who went 87 under Jose.
You don't often win at Anfield. I think the 'Pool have it this year again. Sobered up after the Villa 2-7 debacle.
A poor effort of trolling?
I'm not trolling at all. Just looking at your Scottish Premiership as an English outsider.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_Premiership
It's an endless procession of Glasgow Celtic and Glasgow Rangers scrapping it out. The two Premiership level clubs in Scotland capable of packing in 50,000.
You then have about 5 clubs which in England would be considered Championship level. What, Hibs, Hearts, Dundee and Dundee United and Aberdeen. Gates of 10,000?
The rest are tiny clubs. Almost amateur level. In my view, Celtic and Rangers should play in the English Premiership and encounter some real opposition. It would be fun.

Idiots. I'd gladly give every one of the stupid cunts a sore jaw [as a much needed reality check]!:punch:

it comes from too much success without a huge amount of contest, league wise. A lot of these green brigade types, like rangers equ, are young, and as far as celtic kids are concerned have never known losing.. No-one likes losing and Celtic have lost nothing yet, but many fans are concerned of facing it it seems.
Tbh, losing is a good thing as it makes you try to do better and you also enjoy victories better too I find.
Aw, Maradona has died! :(
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54810392
We used to have a joke at Coventry City with our stripey white and sky blue strip in the 80's. It was just like watching Argentina... without Maradona.
Well God Bless you Diego. Flippin' good footballer. Even if inclined to bend the rules. "Hand of God" indeed. Sheer trickery. :)

Really can't see Derby in League One. There must be something fundamentally rotten at Derby. A mystery. :(

Good news tonight that the Footy fans are back!

All a bit complicated, but I think it is 20% capacity or 2000 in Tier 2. They could have done that months ago.
Gotta be better than that crowd racket over the loudspeakers.
2000 fans can make quite a noise if I remember my non-league days at Wimbledon.
Celtic need to pick up. A goal down. 20 minutes left.

yes well although i fell asleep and missed it all, i see we again lost a 2 goal lead near end of game. Still Benfica are a class squad, and draws home and away and overall winning the double header on away goals is not to be sniffed at.
Im just hoping we dont do what we did years ago and end up 3rd.
I dont think we will.
Celtic were 1 up when i succumbed so i was astounded by the 4-1 score... They have a nice run of easyish games now tho so the should pick up again and get some confidence back.

yes, another 2 goal lead thrown away but to be honest a draw was probably the right result, Benfica are a good team and after spending 100 million in transfers this year they should be.
i am fairly hopefully that we will qualify for the next stage.
As for Celtic , usual defensive errors cost them, they should have scored to make it 2-2 but after that chasing the win left them vulnerable at the back, so they lost a couple of late goals.

Quite honestly, I fancy Coventry City against you'se Glasgow Rangers or Celtic Scots.
We play in a tougher League. A 1-1 draw at Top of the Championship table Norwich is a decent result. Happy with that.

THe second half was much better, and should have scored a couple of others, but as you say sign of a good side to win when not at your best. Everything ok Grant? No whisky posts for a couple of days - have you run out?
Well done to Rangers, a superb fight back and flying the flag superbly for Scottish football!
We threw away a two goal lead, away at AC Milan - you couldn't make it up:doh:

Yeah a good performance by Rangers last, especially Steven Davies, Celtic let down again by some shocking defending.
yup, and i see dundee utd have 9 players out with covid plus most of their backroom staff.
also i see posponed games have been ruled the 3-0 wins given to motherwell twice and hamilton... i wonder why aberdeen and celtic didnt suffer same fate ??;)

Good question
Not sure if the dons boys mixed with the squad after their night out but the celtic did as well as actually played v opposition. This is not about anti celtic but about fairness.
It's only the Europa League, guys. I wouldn't even enter if it was my team.
25 extra fixtures for a tournament that nobody even notices who wins.
Sky Blues on fire!

Coventry 3-1 Rotherham
Five games unbeaten now for the Sky Blues while it's five straight away defeats for Rotherham.
Give it a couple of years and we'll be back in the Prem. :)

Steve, please stop embarrassing yourself with your lack of knowledge, i hope your team keeps moving in the right direction, although the last time they were a decent side was when the Rangers assistant manager played for them.
As Kenny Dalglish observed, it's always about the next game.

7 changes from Sunday, real good strike from Itten, so far so good.
Thanks mate, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope of Celtic doing much of any great worth, until we can inject some much needed 'new face syndrome' in January!
Lenny deserved to be given time. You can't boot someone halfway through a season who's been as successful as he has, mostly due to the bad attitude of some key players.
Good luck to Gers tonight, although I don't think you'll need it. For the sake of the Scottish co-efficient, I'll be supporting them for the remainder of their time in the tournament:)
Marco.

dont see many expensive new faces unless they are loans. If celtic can start like they did v milan and not then capitulate then every chance
There's rumour of Forster joining in January, as indeed should've happened in the summer. The goalkeeping situation/shambles is one of the main reasons why we've been so shite defensively, so sorting that out will help enormously.
In terms of tonight against Lille, yeah for sure, but it all depends on whether the players are up for it, with nothing much more than pride to play for (and of course the aforementioned co-efficient).
Marco.
Yeah heard re forster, although he may not fancy it. Celts just spent a fortune on barcas so.... I think a quick cb is maybe the answer
i see rangers are now 2 up.. hopefully no collapse this time:eyebrows:
Yeah heard re forster, although he may not fancy it. Celts just spent a fortune on barcas so.... I think a quick cb is maybe the answer
Maybe, but my gut feeling is that Forster will come (this time even on loan, which is what he didn't fancy in the summer), as he's not getting a game at Southampton. Celtic will be desperate to ensure that Rangers don't run away with the league, if they're to win it, which barring a complete capitulation from them, looks likely.
Barkas is a great keeper, but patently has failed to settle in Scotland. As you said before the transfer happened, there haven't been many Greek players who've played (and done well) in Scottish football.
I'd like to see Rangers reach at least the quarter finals of the Europa league (even further if possible), as for me they have all the tools necessary at their disposal... Although no doubt they'd struggle to usurp the mighty Coventry City!
Marco.

Good win for Celtic tonight, will be interesting to see what the team is picked at the weekend.
Yup. Good result for them
Yeah it was a win - at long last! And against a very good team... Scoring goals and creating chances hasn't been the problem - it's been at the other end. Many of the youngsters played very well, and if Lennon is guilty of anything, it's in having been way too loyal to the regulars!
There's no doubt though that big Julien coming back has made a difference, not only to the team as a whole or the defence, but also the confidence of Duffy, who had a solid game last night, along with Julien, who's also always a threat inside the opposition's box - and in time I predict that they'll make a great partnership in central defence.
Anyway, I'd stick with a similar team for Sunday, especially keeping Hazard in goal, as I've always rated him. I think he's a better keeper than Bain. Turnbull was simply immense, and needs an extended run in the team to show what he can do, and Soro was arguably man of the match, showing that he could potentially be the replacement for Brown.
I think that this win, and the standard of performance overall, regardless that the game was largely meaningless, will make a big difference to the confidence of the players, and if we can beat Killie on Sunday, especially in any kind of convincing manner, I think it could signal the start of a revival. We'll see!

probably just that they wanted it more.. time will tell.
Probably doing what some of the big teams do in England, and prioritising which competitions they want to be in and/or try and win. In that respect, it's the league and Europe.
I'm pretty sure it'll be that and not the start of a downward trend in form... Thing is though, EVERY team, even the eventual league winners, will go through a bad patch at some point in the season, and get a few dodgy results, and Rangers have still to have theirs.
However, I'm sure you'll pump Motherwell on Saturday, and go further ahead of us, as we play Hearts in the cup final.

Yes enjoy. Tight game I'm told. Son in law was watching.
Cheers, mate. Yeah I bet he was gutted.
Wasn't tight in the first half, but then our defensive frailties kicked in again, although the pressure on the players was immense, so when Hearts came into it and equalised, a wobble was understandable. Hearts played extremely well, but that winning mentality instilled in our players over years shone through.
So pleased for Lenny, as he doesn't deserve the OTT criticism he's been getting from braindead morons, spoiled with success, posing as 'Celtic fans'!
Will this win kickstart our season now? Time will tell!:)

No-one talking about the footy again!:ner:
Two good wins tonight for both sides, so just as I thought, it looks like Rangers getting knocked out of the League Cup was just as blip, and they're well back onto their winning ways.
That also seems to be the case for us, and another clean sheet in the league, plus another good goal from Turnbull, who's fast proving to be a great signing! Also pleased to see that Hazard kept his place in goal, which for me was the right thing to do, and if he stays there for the next few games, does a good job and gains more confidence, I think he'll also play against Rangers.
It was also nice to see Griffiths and Edouard playing together up front, and showing some promise that they can rekindle the successful partnership they had last season, and if that happens it will augur well for us giving Rangers some sort of challenge in the league.
However, I still think it's Rangers' title to lose - and the ONLY way we'll have any chance at all is if we win all our games in hand, don't drop any more points until we go to Ibrox on 2nd January, and then win that one, which will be a HUGE ask... However, anything else, if Rangers don't drop any points, and it's game over.
Marco.

Another decent performance last night from us, the game was over 2 minutes into the second half when we scored the 3rd goal, will start to think about the old firm game when we get to it.
a long way to go before then, but team seems to have enough about them.. a good reserve bank too and they all look keen to play. Roofe is going well..
Indeed... I'm actually totally relaxed about the whole 10-in-a-row thing, especially now that we've secured the quadruple treble, which for me is arguably the greater achievement, displaying unbelievable consistency in knockout competitions over such a long time, and which will NEVER be done again.
I was more nervous/worried about missing out on that, than I am about the prospect of losing 10-in-a-row, especially as we have two nines - a feat also unlikely to be achieved again by either Celtic or Rangers. Therefore, if Rangers win the league this year simply by being the better and more consistent team (as has been the case so far), then good luck to them.
We badly needed a proper challenge anyway, and which will only force us to become better!
Marco.
I only say this with great Festive Cheer, but there used to be a website called: "They didn't want to play for the Wednesday".
No matter how desperate an old footballer's career might look, there was one Club you always turned down. Sheffield Wednesday.
Hopeless team. Tatty stadium. Ugly strip. Can't sing for S***.
Spoilt my day recently though. Ended Coventry City's 8 match unbeaten run. 1-0 to the Wednesday.
Shame. :(
Three wins in a row now in the league, and three clean sheets - is this a Celtic revival?:D
Marco.
Don't you just love the Footy? :)
The Baggies (West Bromwich Albion F.C.) have decided things are desperate, so have signed up dear old Sam Allerdyce to try and keep them in the lucrative £££ Prem.
It won't be pretty.
He's got his work cut out.
Midland teams are generally rubbish. I say this as a Midlander. Coventry City (The Sky Blues ) have broken my Heart more often than they have warmed it. :(
A fascinating Footy article today: https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/manchester-united-leeds-elland-road-1992-b1776023.html?utm_source=pocket-newtab-global-en-GB

The great 1991-92 clash of the two Uniteds. Good teams.
Notice that Coventry narrowly avoided relegation, as usual.
so i see the last games of yr played today. both halfs of old firm won fairly easily. should be an interesting game at new year.. i have a feeling for celtic... they may want it more
No mate, not *want* it more, NEED it more, which as I've said before is often the defining factor, in terms of who wins these games: the team who NEEDS to win it most, often does.
But Rangers will certainly want to win - very much so, every bit as much as Celtic, as they'll be desperate to have one hand on the trophy (which is what I think will be the case if Celtic lose) and they're at home with a considerable lead, so will be firm favourites.
Not sure if we'll win, but I don't think we'll lose (wouldn't have said that four or five games ago, though). However, if Rangers win, IMO it's defo their title, as for me there'd be no way back from that. As I've said though, now that we've secured the QT, I'm pretty relaxed about the title, so in that respect, may the best team win on Saturday - and let's hope for fair play and no fatal refereeing blunders!
Marco.
Turnbull and Soro have been immense, and are two big reasons why we've had an upturn in form and are playing with much more confidence, coupled with the emergence and form of Griffiths, which subsequently has rekindled the form of Edouard.
I believe that most of the above, save Soro, whom I think will be replaced by Brown, will be hugely influential at the weekend - and also look out for Barkas finally growing into a Celtic jersey!
Marco.
always difficult with old firm games.. it usually comes down to who wants it and plays best on day.. no fans so crowd doesnt play a part either
Yeah, defo. Just making a few observations:)
Marco.
All the best for today lads, and may the best team win, hopefully fairly and squarely!
Marco.
Well done, guys. And of all things, an own goal seals it! All over now, so enjoy the title trophy when it comes, as it's been a long time:cool:

:lol::lol:
I always thought you had hidden talents as a comedian, mate.
Marco.
only 10 points if the 3 games are won. 2 old firm games, if they are won too then its 4... so, yes its if's at moment but it is not certain by any means.
oh and you may have another manager soon.. guess the board might decide to push??
Nah, I still don't see that happening yet, simply because there's no point, as no-one else would be available right now to come in and do a better job - and Lenny's just won us the Quadruple Treble!
For me, that will only happen if the team capitulates and loses the next few games, so we'll see what happens there. But changing manager now would solve nothing and likely only cause more problems. Barring any ensuing disasters, that will happen in the summer.
However, in terms of the title, it's yours now, as to my knowledge no half of the old firm has ever lost the first two clashes of the season and come back from being 19 points behind, regardless of games in hand, to win the title!
Fantasyland stuff, mate. It's the end of an era for us, and the beginning of a new one for you, which historically is what happens:)
Marco.
its not overly likely but still quite possible, especially if players start thinking its done and dusted... and its happened to them before. they have already been signs.
I expect edouard to go now in january as well... Morelos too
Well, we'll see what happens. Fancy a £20 bet?:D

Celtic were the better team, but you have to score goals, basically a reversal of last year’s league cup final, the better team does not always win. from a Rangers point of view hopefully we have learned from last seasons dismal post Xmas performances.

The Ibrox disaster of 1971. Horrible things, crowd crushes. Been in a couple myself. Very sad. :(
Remember the Ibrox one. Was very nasty. Celtic manager jock stein and rangers manager Willie waddell both came out with flying colours, as they both rose to the horrid occasion.

Good tactics from the Aberdeen manager in the second half made the game closer than it should have been.
Just have to await developments.
Considering hibs were upset at the change, I'm sure they won't be happy. Just if it is a dubai tripper then with the slow rate of it developing the whole squad might be quarantined.

it was never a good idea tbh and always had the threat of this happening. celtics statement wasnt very clever either tbh. if that was my club i'd be bealin'
lets face it, it was a jolly boys outing with a bit of training to make it look good. why else do you take a guy on crutches who aint gonna train.

as you say Grant, why was a player on crutches taken on the trip, then he tests positive, yes it was within the rules but a PR disaster. if I was Hibs player i would not be happy playing them tonight.
hibs asked for extra testing and were told to f off. if they dont play celtic get game. something wrong there i feel. i really hope no more players come down with it after tonight as the consequences will be dire
Yes, that trip not looking like a good idea now.
I've duly given up on the rest of the season now! Oh look, there it goes....:wave:... The waving bye-bye to our chances of winning anything else.
It's a shambles.
Marco.

1-1 could have been a lot worse
yes it wasnt too bad a result as they were apparently out played slightly, although the stats didnt say that.. got livvy at weekend with a similar team so i think that might be tougher. livvy are playing well.
think gers are away again to motherwell; always a tough game and they have a new manager so we will need to be at best. the long term loss of jack and arfield is showing the lack of depth in df/m.. also with roofe out isnt helpful although alf has started to look his old self. would like to see a couple of additions.. dm.m cover and a r/forward. with stewart and jones leaving

Looks like the boy Wright from Aberdeen might be coming in, but we are a bit light in a couple of areas as you say.

Excellent article here, which pretty much sums up the situation at Celtic: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ronny-deilas-celtic-end-game-23306528?utm_source=daily_record_newsletter&utm_campaign=celtic_newsletter2&utm_medium=email
I always liked Ronny.
Marco.
Bit disappointed that the game between the Sky Blues and the Owls is off.
Apparently Wednesday are infested with the wretched germ.
IMO, we should have been given 3 points for Wednesday's indiscipline.
The Prem is more interesting for the relegation dogfight.

I have always been fond of the Hammers. Never win much, but always play with Heart. :)

seems to be a few sides that have succumbed... villa were another this week. celtic up here although i think thats about over now.
All my family sitting around with our heads in our hands about Derby's dismal losing 0-1 performance against Rotherham. :(
Really, Wayne Rooney what are you playing at? You are the second-best player that England ever put up front.
When the Sky Blues were in trouble, manager Gordon Strachan decided to put his boots on again and knock a decent cross to Dion Dublin.
The rest is history. Sky Blues scraped relegation again.
Rangers back to playing like the should, well for the most part bar a bit of laxity just after half time... Ran out winners 5 to 0.
Some good performances and good to see Jack back (as a Sub) and got a goal too,....

Yeah, much better performance today, apart from the missed penalty.

i knew he'd miss that.. was odds on tbh and alf probably should have done it.
had a quick look at kerrydale st for a laugh.. Gerard is shite; rangers are crap; yogi hughes is a closet gers man, .. covid is our only saving grace.. lennon may be shite but celtic are a hundred times better than (sevco) dont you just love it:D
I mean a little bit of admittance that we have been better would show a little class...

JUst need to do the same on Wednesday against Hibs, just keep winning the next game.

Me too , points in the bag always better
Me too , points in the bag always betterLooks like Gers have snapped up the 2 Bournemouth lads on pre contracts for next season. A good bit of business I think. The lad Wright also looks to be a likely joiner. Good to get some early summer work done this early. Saves money and gives all preseason to tune them up

If the pre contracts work out as good as Kamara , will be very happy.

The lad Ofoborh looks a big unit for a mid... doubt he will get pushed off ball easily. Simpson is big too at 6'3" too. both 21, so good ages and along with Bassey, bode well for future.

Very Exciting day in teh' English Championship.
Sky Blues at friendly landlords Brum.

I am thinking 1-1. Everybody happy. :)

i see Brum, who an old mate of mine supports, have signed Aberdeen Striker Cosgrove. I wonder if he will play:D
No need for the Cosgrave lad to play for the Blues at all! And he didn't.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55776574
Whole game was a fix. 1-1 as predicted.
Wish I'd put money on it. Does anybody remember that World Cup game between West Germany and Austria?
Both sides needed a draw to qualify for the next round....
Whole game seemed to run in slow motion. Two opposing players ran for a dead ball, then paused. "Your ball Fritz!", "No, after you Klaus!".
A draw, IIRC. :)

i wasnt thinking really. i guess he will have to quarentine before joining team. he's a decent big lump, but how much further he can go is?? debatable.
good luck to him anyway.
see celtic lost marco.. bad times to be a celtic fan sorry to say for you..... still, i guess it had to happen, just not as disasterously as this...

The gap stays at 23 points but Celtic only have 2 games in hand.

yes, its 2 games in hand... sure they can come back and make a fist of it at least, but lennon i feel has to go. players look to have lost faith in him as boss for me anyway. a team that were so good under last manager cant become shit overnight. has to be leadership.
im betting a new man in, even temp and you'll see a completely different attitude

I agree Lennon will go just a question of when, not a great time for a new man to come in as window is just about to close.

sure, no teams have money anyway.. the frimpong money wasnt as high as published by way. think cetic bank about 6m which is bloody good i have to say,... but a new man can get them playing again... Not that as a old Ger I want that, but it really should have happened months ago. He has taken constant winners and destroyed them.... and i dont say that with glee.. its sad.

probably the quietest transfer window for many years, Rangers are not playing that well but are not losing which is the big change from last season.
probably the quietest transfer window for many years, Rangers are not playing that well but are not losing which is the big change from last season.Yup very quiet. We look like picking up 3 players for next season. All good by way, and one will go straight into first team.
But I feel we will have a couple from the, academy who will step up too.
I have to say I've never felt the club has been so well run.
I will say is have liked Wright in today
so rangers picked up 3 signings, with 2 coming in immediately. Wright from Dons and Jack Simpson from Bournemouth. Another from same team has gone to Wycombe, Nnamdi Ofoborh... thats gonna be an interesting pronounciation...;)
out went quite a few.. Edmunson(Derby), Barker(Oxford), Jones(Sunderland), Kennedy(Raith Rov) etc.. and Mccrorie is now a full time Dons player(part of the Wright Deal). (young Kennedy signed a new contract before heading to Raith in championship)
celtic were a bit quieter, with 2 out, Frimpong(sale) and Nitcham(loan to buy?) and one in; JonJoe Kenny from Everton.

i think our squad is better now and a couple of the fringe players out as you say Grant, looks like Nitcham’s loan has gone down well with the manager sacked, as he wanted nothing to do with it.

yeah, i think he was using that a bit as a lever to get out tbh.. there have been attacks on first team from so called fans so he maybe wanted to get away.. not sure its fair on the lad tbh. there was little to no need to say that. think its called flinging the player under a bus... as nitcham was flung under one here too, then i guess he may be getting used to it

THings not looking good at Aberdeen again tonight.Livy still going very well. Poorest Aberdeen for years.
Man u winning 9-0 too. Might not be a record but must be close
Edit. Apparently equals record.
Terrible Nightmare for our dear Pompey neighbours, Southampton. The Scum. 0-9.
As a betting man, I fancy them to win next week.
Up and down sort of team. Sky Blues lost too. No surprise.

Always liked "The Forest".
No love lost between your two sides down there [emoji23]
I have been considering the fixture.
"The Scum" have a long bus-ride to Newcastle F.C. on February 6th.
The little legs will be numb and exhausted after such a bus-ride. I am thinking they will lose. But respectably. Maybe 1-2.
I see they play the Wolves on the 14th. The St. Valentine's massacre. On that one. Go Saints.
