Gonna keep it as a surprise.

Another potential £6m, for doing hee-haw, can't be bad: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/moussa-dembeles-celtic-sell-play-22552209

Nice one... That'll be great experience for him when one day he becomes Celtic manager!;)
Marco.
maybe a better coach than manager
Yeah, he's got to learn the ropes first, and where better to do that than at Barca?:)
Marco.
Good, seemingly comfortable, 2-0 home win for you guys against Killie. which now puts us under even more pressure away at Dundee Utd, which will not be an easy game! Just sitting down to watch it now - will be interesting to see what team Lenny picks!

Interesting team selection by Rangers, although a bit more forward passing with Steve Davis in the side and another clean sheet.
Yup, heard that Roofe got his first goal, too...
Marco.
played a 442 i think today.. alf not even on bench, which was perhaps a risk but they got another clean sheet... think thats the best start for 91 years
Yup, as I said Rangers are much tighter defensively all over the pitch this season, so I can't see them losing too many games, although at the same time I can't see them scoring too many goals either...
Although they won 2-0 today, they're reminding me a bit of '1-0 to the Arsenal', under George Graham!;)

Didn’t think you were old enough to remember that Arsenal side, I used to turn the channel when they came on, we’re not that bad yet.
guessing its a decent result as they took a point of celts.. also had a few top team players out..aribo, mcgreggor, morellos.. kamara on bench etc.. itten still to fit in and start scoring tho. if the new 2 strikers start hitting net it might be interesting, but a few players are of interest to others so it could change quickly.
c eltic are still favs

Yeah I remember it, but not well.

Won a lot of stuff. 6 trophy I think. There used to be perpetual rumours of Graham becoming rangers manager after he parted with the gunners

Rangers are a better side when Davis plays, the manager changed the formation slightly for the second half which improved things. I think Roofe might turn out to be a decent signing.
Fuck, that was worse than 'squeaky-bum time'... But a well-deserved win in the end! Had 22 shots on goal and 10 corners, but couldn't beat Utd's (superb) keeper and VERY well-organised and resolute defence.
However, eventually the pressure told and it was great to see Ajeti get his first goal, which was very well taken:) Those are the sort of wins that could be crucial come the end of the season. When Rangers play there, expect a bloody difficult game!:trust:
Anyway, it's a vital three points and puts me in a good mood to enjoy my [just delivered] curry!!

Reminded me of the Rangers game last week, it could be a tough league this year trying to break these teams down.
Indeed....:)
You can't blame them though, as outside of us, and maybe Aberdeen, for every other team it's mainly about survival!

Very true , but not great too watch
Looks like Morelos has played his last game for Rangers: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53877304
TBH, right now, I think you'd be lucky to get £10m for him, where at one point last season, when he was scoring goals for fun in Europe, you could've at least doubled that!
I think Rangers are a little bit guilty of not selling their prized asset when he was at his most valuable.

Marco.
Time will tell.
Don't think his value has changed much from a few weeks ago.
Plenty suitors for alf, just depends on who offers most.
It won't be worst bit of business if he stays tho.
Biggest problem has been the press tbh
Lol - his value may not have changed from weeks ago, but it has changed drastically from when he was banging in goals pre-winter break last season, and particularly during his performances in Europe against the likes of Braga and Porto!
He was a £20-25m player then. Now he's less than half that, and unless you know differently, and can show proof, I'm unaware of these "plenty of suitors" wanting to sign him... So why haven't they made any bids? Lille have now signed someone else. I don't think any bugger wants him, as he's a talented player, but a problem child.
As Gerrard said in the Daily Record article:
"I only want players who are hungry for the shirt," said Gerrard.
"If I see people who are not focused or who have taken their eye off the ball and not really, really hungry to get this football club results, I have to make easy decisions and Alfredo made it easy for me this week."
That petulant attitude is both unprofessional and inexcusable. He clearly wants away, and the fact is, if he doesn't knuckle down and try and get back into the team, in order to show the "plenty of suitors" what he can do, and that he's in the right head space, then they're not going to be interested and his value will continue to plummet!
Aside from that, the problem Rangers have is that I don't see any of the new guys replacing Morelos' goals, as in my view none of the strikers they've signed are capable of 30-goals a season, which is one of the reasons why, without Morelos (a proper Morelos like he was the first half of last season) Rangers are struggling to score goals - and will continue to do so until they address that issue.
Those are my honest thoughts, mate.
Marco.
No thoughts on that, Granty - Robin?:)
Marco.
sorry i hadnt seen it. no idea whats going on re him except im pretty sure a deal will get done at some time to somewhere. Sure a few sides will want. If he gets fit and interested I guess he may stay too but I doubt it.. Kent may go too. Barisic and Kamara too i guess. If they, or any do im sure a ready made replacement will be in the shortlist.
As to goals; I think the idea is to have goals from several sources.

It’s clear that Rangers have a price for Morelos, and if its met he will go , Kent as well maybe although I hope they both stay but Morelos will have to change his attitude, Kent had another decent game yesterday. Bottom line every player has a price.

You mean Turnbull from Motherwell? Lol - no chance, he's Celtic bound!;)
And before this window is out, will complete the transfer he should've done last season, which it appears the sale of Rogic (to Quatar) will fund.
I'll comment on the rest later:)

Will need to check with Grant if he’s heard anything about coming to us first, as the odds are stacked heavily against me.
Lol - no worries... I've not heard of any link with him and Rangers, only Celtic, to the extent that he'd be our player now, had his bad injury not been detected last season [I believe Turnbull was devastated and desperately wants to play for Celtic] - and so now he's back fit and playing again, I'd expect the move to be completed sooner rather than later.

To be honest although he’s a decent player, he’s only just back from injury , so I would be surprised if anyone went for him just now.
Yeah, but he's fine now, in Motherwell's starting 11 and playing well. All he needs is some more games to increase his match sharpness.
TBH, if Rangers don't sell Morelos, then I can't see them shelling out the required £4m to secure Turnbull's signature. I think they'd need to sell first before they could make any further 'big money' signings. I think even Celtic are in the same boat, new additional centre-half aside, as that's urgent.

Its a long transfer window , which will make things interesting.
Btw, one other point I'd make is that, and you can hold me to this, if Morelos does go, then I predict that when Defoe comes back from injury [how close to that now is he, do you know?], he'll form a productive partnership with either Roofe or Itten, probably the former - watch this space:)

Defoe is not expected back until after the up and coming International break.
Okay dokes.... I expect him to be a really key player this season for Rangers, as when he's playing well he guarantees you goals, and he's been in need of playing alongside a striking partner since he arrived at Ibrox - someone who can feed balls into him, to allow him to run in behind defences and punish them, so perhaps one of the two new boys will be successful in that role?:)
Marco.
Yo, boy-wonder, check this out: https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/5962626/celtic-turnbull-3m-transfer-motherwell/
Ahem.... :ner:;)
Marco.
A bigger enigma was Hastie. Many at Well felt he would be the better player, but he just fell off of the edge of a cliff after moving to old firm. Even on loan and back now at well, he is playing poorly.
Guessing it's a sober warning to players and teams that some players just don't fit with expectation.

wont surprise me as he is a fan. not so sure he is a perfect fit for celtic tho.. plus his fitness as you said is still not 100% proven yet.
rangers still need a box to box midfilder imo. maybe another forward too. 2 if alf goes, which seems likely.

Or it could just be shite... I'm a poet and don't know it!:D
Marco.

Don't see that being a real issue. He just needs some more games. Doesn't seem much wrong with him here against Livi:
https://youtu.be/kWUIhdwZ_8M
Great goal.... We'll take some of that kind of 'unfitness'!;)
And apparently he had a superb game, all round. Seriously though, if we land him, he'll be great foil for our (rather impressive) forward line.
Marco.
sure, not so much fitness as ability not to break down i was thinking.. yes i think he is a good player. how good he can be i dont know.
heard the S African we had been interested in for instance wasnt fit. lots of Celtic initiated rumours about Morellos again.. Quite pathetic i have to say ;)
AS Ive said, footy up here has become farcical at times.. Kevin Clancy couldnt wait to book a Rangers player even tho he did heehaw.. in fact it could easily have been a pen the other way..
sad days imo... just like the torys getting their papers to try and destroy Sturgeon, the papers up here do same re rangers.. a celtic player does a trip to spain and back then plays but very little said tbh ..if that had bee morelos can you imagine the vitriol?
Lol... Very little said, what about Bolingoli? You must be joking, mate! Clearly you don't read the papers, listen to the radio phone-ins, or what the Scottish football news programmes are saying, like I do (the disadvantage, or advantage, of not having a TV licence?) where the selfish and stupid fucker, quite rightly, has been ABSOLUTELY SLAUGHTERED!!
Not to mention Lennon similarly slaughtering him on various TV interviews, including the club's own channel! No way has he got away with anything.:nono:
And any comments I've made about Morelos are entirely deserved football-related ones. He's currently behaving like an unprofessional, moody and petulant child, which Gerrard has rightly identified, and dropped him accordingly, and he hasn't kicked a ball for Rangers since before last year's winter break.
Those are cold hard facts, whether you find them palatable or not, and also why his current value is nowhere near what is was at the end of the first part of last season, when he was on fire!
As for refereeing bias against Rangers, come on you've got to be joking... We've had to endure exactly the same type of bias against Celtic, for YEARS (since the 60s), from patently pro-Rangers refs, none more so than Hugh Dallas, who was responsible for giving you a few 'nice wins', due to some very dodgy decisions, on the road to your 9-in-a- row!;)
So please mate, don't give me the 'Rangers being hard done to' sob story, as it won't wash... Maybe what goes around, comes around?:ner:;)
That said, I totally abhor and do not support any kind of dishonestly or genuine refereeing bias towards ANY team, but these things will happen and even themselves out over the course of time!
Marco.
This is why I support Rangers (and every other Scottish club) in Europe: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-uefa-coefficient-boost-scotland-22573679
Well done, guys! We need to keep it up this season!!
Returning to Morelos, is it true that Rangers have knocked back a £16m bid for him from Real Madrid? If so, for me that's bonkers!:mental:
Right now, I doubt they'll get a better offer...

Been out all morning, getting soaked in the process.
According to your favorite newspaper The Sun, your team are about to buy another 3 players including a striker from Turkey.

So is the bid for Morelos true or just rumour? Granty, could I please also have your input on this?:)

Ok, fair enough... Unusual though for it to be brought up and discussed by the hosts on Radio Clyde, such as ex-Ranger player, Gordon Dalziel, if there wasn't anything in it. I guess we'll wait and see!:)
Good news about the co-efficient though eh, and the part Rangers have played in that?

Fair enough, but for me some of that "tripe" is the most entertaining bit, especially listening to the zoomers who can hardly string two words together, other than saying "Know wot ah mean?"
Do you remember the late (great) Jimmy Sanderson, who used to grace Radio Clyde Superscorebpard on Saturday afternoons? I grew up with him... Used to crack me up how cheeky he was to some of the callers, and use words that he knew they wouldn't have a scooby about...
"Are you accusing me of mendacity?"
"Aye maybe ah um, if ah knew whit it meant"... Priceless!:D

Disappointing night for Celtic and Scottish football, not seen the game yet.
Good luck to your team tonight Marco, although playing without a striker will be interesting.
Indeed, and as soon as I saw that, I feared the worst! Yes, Edouard was unfortunately injured, but Lennon still had two strikers available to him, so why didn't he use one of them?
Ok, Ajeti has just joined and needs game time, but Klimala's played enough football and looked good in the games where he's featured, so IMO he should've started! I like Lennon and think that overall he's done a great job as Celtic manager - save, however, for his record so far in CL qualifiers, and in those games being punished for making, let's call it. 'unorthodox' team selections.
He did it against Cluj, and was punished for it, and he did it tonight and suffered the same fate. Also, Celtic are always at the 'coo's arse', in terms of getting players in SWIFTLY that they badly need during transfer windows, and ensuring that they start these (very important) qualifying matches with as strong a team as possible, no glaring weaknesses and no 'square pegs in round holes' - but that NEVER seems to happen!
It's been obvious since this season started that we needed a replacement centre half for Simunovic, who left during the summer, but did we get one in on time to start these important games? No, did we fuck! So once again we paid the price, as it's been patently obvious that we weren't strong enough at the back, and that Julien and Ajer needed help from a big, strong and commanding centre half.
That was a glaring error, and every season it's becoming a bad habit. Lessons not properly learned from mistakes made! Anyway, we'll lick our wounds and look forward to joining you guys in the Europa League, where hopefully there we can do Scotland proud:cool:
Off to play some choons now to cheer myself up!!

I’m not sure about the selection again, last year it was Mcgregor at full back this time no Centre forward with 2 on the bench , between them they should have managed 90 minutes.
Europa league is where we will be hopefully all the Scottish teams will make some decent progress.

Marco.
Back to winning ways for us too, with a convincing 3-0 win, and much needed 3 points, against Motherwell - and with an unchanged side too, the same as which lost midweek in Europe! Now *that* was brave...
Shows that Lenny was convinced in it being the best formation, based on the current unfit state of our strikers, and if you score three goals (could've been more) without a recognised striker, then I guess he's been vindicated, especially as although we narrowly lost on Wednesday night, the team played pretty well, creating plenty of chances without being able to convert them.
We had 70% possession and 26 shots on target, but sadly only one goal to show for it! Hey ho...
However, I still feel that Klimala, at least, should be starting, and I don't really understand why he isn't getting that chance. He certainly won't get any more match fit sitting on the bench!
Great to see Ajeti though, coming on again and scoring... He's probably due at least a full 45 mins in the next game against Ross County, after the international break, although Edouard should be fit by then, but I don't rule out Lennon going with two up front, which is exactly why Ajeti was signed, as a partner for Edouard, while Griffo is sorting himself out...
I stand by my prediction though, in that Ajeti will be a sensation this season, especially now with the arrival of Turnbull!
Still need to sign a centre half, though, so hopefully some business in that respect will be completed this week.

Marco.
Didn’t watch the game, so cant really comment only just read the BBC report, no shots on target for most of the first half and Kilmala coming on at half time, at least you had a striker on the pitch. But a decent win and 3 points.
Didn’t watch the game, so cant really comment only just read the BBC report, no shots on target for most of the first half...
...except for a superb goal from Forrest, which hit the back of the net, after great interplay between him and McGregor - arguably a candidate for goal of the season!
But yes, I take your point - aside from that, an entertaining first half it wasn't. Klimala, Ajeti and Frimpong coming on though in the second half made all the difference. Klimala was put through on goal and had his shot well saved, and Forrest hit the bar, so it could've been more - and all achieved without our star striker.
That'll do for now, and with Griffo back in training I don't think it'll be long before he returns to the action... So four top strikers to choose from, two of which I'm certain will be playing together soon after the international break [we're much more potent as an attacking force that way], and I predict we'll kick on from there, after a somewhat mediocre start to the season!
As they say, it's not how you start, but how you finish...;)
Marco.
Seems Shane Duffy's on his way at LAST: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/shane-duffy-set-celtic-brighton-22603598

He will be a good addition
I totally agree - so much so that I think he could be the difference in us winning the league or not... Yes, *that* significant! Anyway, the deal's now done, he'll be joining up with his Celtic team mates after the international break: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/shane-duffy-seals-celtic-move-22611665?_ga=2.73307478.431217546.1598973478-1013618788.1546004086
Not a bad transfer window - that's five in the door now: Barkas, Duffy, Turnbull, Ajeti and Elyounoussi (resigned on loan again). All we need now I feel is a replacement for Bolingoli, as after his shenanigans his Celtic career is over, so we need some cover for Greg Taylor.
That done, we're good to go! But we should've had that business done BEFORE the CL qualifiers started, and if we had, I think we'd still be in that competition.
Marco.
Was reading lennon wants to sign him full time.. Not sure it's wise to say these things until the lad has few games played at least.
I remember sg saying that about a loan player then couldn't get shot of him quick enough. Lol
Maybe more than one

Not the most exciting first half but its never easy watching Scotland, but 1-0 will is ok.
Yeah, up until the penalty (what a great take by Christie , right into the top corner - unstoppable), the first half was entirely forgettable!
Hopefully the second half will be better. I'd like to see Armstrong come on, as for me, he carries a big goal threat.

Always half glass full here Marco, will certainly be a different formation tonight, although dropping the Old Firm players for English based players who have not kicked a ball in anger for few weeks may prove an error.
Good stuff, Robin. I'm permanently a 'glass half-full' type, on ALL matters, mate. I'm one of life's eternal, happy-go-lucky, cheery optimists!:D
However, coupled with that, I'm also a REALIST, and for me, bar a miracle, it'll be hard not to get anything else but humped, as the Czechs are no mugs - quite the opposite!:)

Hopefully has they have had to change the entire squad and coaching staff will work in our favour.
*Hopefully*, but you can guarantee that the replacements won't be 'diddies', that's for sure!:)
Marco.
Well, good 1-2 win, but it certainly wasn't pretty! And, as I thought the Czechs were much better than many would've thought... You have to remember that, as a nation, the Czechs have always produced quality, technically gifted players, therefore even their 'reserves' will be none too shabby, which is how things turned out!
Anyway, a very good 3 points, and with Israel and Slovakia drawing 1-1, we're now top of the group.
Btw, I missed what happened... Why did the Czech Republic have to throw a team together full of untried players?

The only positive is the 3 points.
2 Czech players tested positive after Friday’s game and the everyone had to isolate, the Czech’s were not going to play the game but UEFA insisted they fielded a team.

Yeah two good wins, although the injuries that Rangers suffered are a worry.
Good win last night away to St Mirren, but hard fought, as is often the case in these games, however the three points were all that mattered. That's Duffy scored two headers in a row now... He's clearly a big goal threat in the opposition's box!:)
Plus, he's a very solid defender - a real quality signing who will undoubtedly be a key player for us this season. Anyway, we're slowly catching up with you guys...;)

Hope your prediction is correct.
If Rangers continue playing as they've done this season, it's a forgone conclusion against such a diddy team. If, however, they turn up ill-prepared and thinking it'll be a walk in the park, then something else might happen.
I simply cannot see the latter occurring, especially with Gerrard at the helm! Anyway, I'll be watching the match and rooting for Rangers:)

not much interest in anything tbh.
Yeah you've told me that before, but despite that you were still commenting on the SPL games at least, now nothing, hence what prompted my clarifying of your feelings.
Fair enough, but your last remark sounds a bit depressing, so try not and let things get you down - and giving up on your interests, and the chats we were having here on this thread, I'd suggest isn't the best way of achieving that...

They're a decent side, for sure, and being away from home will make it trickier, but I think it'll take a better side than that to put Rangers out of Europe this season, as defensively they're set up so well, and now with Defoe back and scoring goals, and Morelos chipping in too, IMO [who I'm now tipping to stay until the end of the season], they're on track to emulate last season's form - or maybe go one better!:)

Will start to think about the European game after tomorrow once the Hibs game is out of the way. Although a good run in Europe would be great. As you say the defense is looking solid now.
Any comments on the weekend's games then, chaps?
Another hard-fought win for Celtic (this time 3-2), over a team that often takes points off of both side of the old firm, and Saturday was no different. The problem we have at the moment is fielding a regular and settled defence, and importantly one that the new keeper can form a good understanding with, plus getting new players to bed in... This time Jullien was injured in training, and out!
So I'm afraid we're going to continue shipping goals until that situation is resolved. Thankfully, we generally have enough firepower to get us out of trouble and secure the three points, as indeed happened on Saturday against Livi, but that's not always going to be the case, so we have to sort out the defence.
For you guys, it was always going to be a hard game against Hibs, and that turned out to be true. We've always struggled at Easter Road, so I'm sure that when we go there again, it'll be just as hard. With Hibs being a force to be reckoned with this season, a point at Easter Road for any away side is probably a decent result.
Still, we've caught up now, points wise, as I expected, after us missing those games because of the behaviour of a selfish idiot, and if we win our remaining game in hand will go top again... It's defo going to be an interesting season!

Yup, we also played arguably our best football of the season yesterday while (easily) beating an in-form Hibs 3-0. It could've easily been more. Wonder if that's another opposition manager in trouble with his job. Last couple of seasons we seem to have got a lot the sack. Lol
Well done to sg and lads. 3 youngsters resigned for 2 years a piece too yesterday as well so good news there. Dire mebude is off to Man City as well and for a decent fee. More than we were due so a great bit of work from our backroom team.

yes, it was a potential loser game; no crowd and a big, quality side like that. As was Celtics' in the opposite way. away from home on a probably poor pitch, v a team they should beat easily; a banana skin just waiting to be trod on.

The Milan vs.Celtic games will be particularly intriguing! Arguably, you guys have got the easier group, but both will be tough:)
Marco.
not much in it id think.. who gets lucky with player availability maybe. milan have a decent team including abrahimavich
Yeah, and so for me, Milan are a better team than either Benfica or Standard Liege, and Losc and Lech are of a similar standard. That's why arguably we have the slightly harder group.
That aside, let hope we can both qualify from the group again, let we did last season, as that will do our co-efficient the power of good, as indeed it has already done by you guys beating a Greek team:)
Marco.
both groups are escapable i think, but no walk in park for any team.
Two good wins today for both halves of the Old Firm. I haven't seen the Rangers game, but St Johnstone made it really hard for us at their ground and defended in great numbers for the whole match, restricting the amount of space where our players could operate.
However, we didn't play well, and up until the last 20 mins or so, it was a rather turgid affair. It was obvious that the players were suffering a bit after their midweek exploits in Europe away from home... The big difference came when Lennon threw on his subs, and in particular Griffo and Klimala, who both scored!:)
It was a very important 3 points. We showed our credentials as champions again, by keeping going right until the end and grinding out a vital win - and this one, and the securing of maximum points, instead of only one, could prove crucial come the end of the season.
It certainly keeps us in touch with you guys for the game at Celtic Park in 2 weeks time, and also with a game in hand still against Aberdeen. However, what was most pleasing for me today was seeing Griffo come on and score a vital goal, which he took really well, and he looked really sharp. On his day, he's still a top-notch striker and one of the best in the business, and who has been much missed!
Hopefully his return will give Edouard a kick up the arse, who's currently suffering a loss of form, although I think the International break will do him good, even if he does play for the French under 21s, as it'll be a change of scenery, as it were, and a chance to refocus himself. So with Griffo back in contention, fit and scoring goals, ditto Klimala, then when Ajeti recovers from injury, we'll have a formidable choice of strikers!
Plus, as looks likely, if we can do a bit more business in the transfer market before the window closes, namely in signing another left-back, to replace Bolingoli, and Snodgrass set for a loan move from West Ham, who IMO will be a very valuable addition to the squad: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/robert-snodgrass-set-celtic-loan-22789921

The rangers game was poor but it was 3 points, which was the important thing.
I was reading that the S African Zungu has signed a loan deal after all with Rangers. Dunno that much about him but he seems to be a fans fav in S A.. Guess gers could do with another player in the "engine room"lol
i see Celtic also picked up a LB loanee from of all places, Uraguay.. Not sure there have been many Uraguaians in spl before?
edit... there have been 3 apparently... Carlos Marcora – Dundee United – 2000–01, Gerardo Traverso – Dundee –2001–02, Fabián Yantorno – Gretna, Hibernian – 2007–09....
Rangers I think had a S African once in Dean Furman, while Killy had Chad Harpur in same year..2007-08
Indeed... Barring any obscure unknowns, I think Caniggia is the closest, although he was Argentinian. Laxalt has been playing in Europe for years though, so that will help. I think he'll be a good signing, but unlikely to feature for many weeks until he's fit.
I also like the look of Zungu, and think he'll be a valuable addition to your squad. One thing's for sure, both our squads should be strong enough now to handle the rigours of what will undoubtedly be a challenging season!
On another note, let's hope that Scotland can beat Israel tomorrow night, as that's a MASSIVE one for our country:)

For me, if Griffo continues featuring for Celtic, and scoring, he's GOT to lead the line. His skill from dead-ball situations, especially free-kicks, would be invaluable.

Yeah I missed it... We're certainly building up some nice momentum before the game with Serbia. One thing that's patently obvious with the most recent Scotland performances is the influence of Steve Clarke now he's been in charge for a good few months.
Organisationally and defensively [two Clarke traits] we're MUCH better now, and so no longer look like losing stupid goals because of careless mistakes! That will defo give us a chance against Serbia, but it won't be easy. Even if we don't make it, Clarke has to be given enough time to stamp his full authority on the team and build for the next major competition.
On a different note, what's your views for Saturday's game at Celtic Park? I can't see past you pumping us, with all the players we'll have missing!;)

Scotland are far better defensively now and better organized, not an easy watch though. As for high noon on Saturday its an Old firm game so you never know what’s going to happen but saying that I don’t think we will lose.
No, neither do I. Aside from the players we'll have missing, Rangers will want to set down a marker, to really show that they're genuine title contenders this year, plus there'll still be a lingering sense of injustice (although I don't buy into that) that Celtic were wrongly 'given' the title last season, so they'll be desperate to 'avenge' that...
And as I've always said, when it comes to old firm games, the team who NEEDS to or WANTS to win most invariably does, so in this one, for me, given that Celtic will also have a number of key players out, I can't see past a Rangers win.
Yup, in terms of Scotland, no not an easy watch, but Clarke got us playing to our strengths, so that we're no longer a 'soft touch', and the thing in our favour now is that although we don't have any 'world beaters', there is genuine quality right throughout the team, which wasn't the case before, and if we can get a bit more cutting edge up front, we'll be a decent side.
Marco.
Don't think you'll be missing many tbh. Eduard my not be fit but Christie should be back. The 2 isrealies obviously but are they first 11.
Gers will be without a few too.
I don't think rangers are favs in my mind. Quite the opposite.
2-0 to the Gers, well done. I told you so!;)
Haven't watched the game yet, so no idea about the ins and outs. However, it certainly proves that we've got a fight on our hands this year. More later.

Disappointing result for Celtic, thought they might have managed to achieve a draw in the second half.
Yeah it looked that way mate, after largely being overrun in the first half, we scored a good goal and had chances to equalise but couldn't take them, then at the end when chasing an equaliser, got caught with a classic sucker punch.
Look, much like Saturday, it was always going to be a big ask getting anything from this game with the players we had out. It's patently obvious just how important Jullien is to the team and our defence, and of course Edouard up front - they're both MASSIVE players for us, and so subsequently are massive losses.
Couple that with the lack of match fitness of most of our other forwards, and it's obvious why we're struggling. We've got another difficult game on Sunday against Aberdeen, and TBH I think we're in for tough time until we get all our major players back and those who are, properly match fit, and so it's simply a case of being patient until that happens and the team starts to click again.
Marco.
Yeah good goal from roofe. He had a desire to do well there and their handbags at end was not great.
Celtic were alas not quite at it first half, but at least came close to salvaging game.
Yo daftees!
Don't be shy in discussing another Rangers win yesterday, whilst we dropped another 2 points - I won't hold it against you, you know!:ner::D
We should've won, but chucked the 2 points away at the last minute, by giving away that penalty.
As I said before, with the players we've had out, and many who've been out and back in not having played that much football, and so lacking match fitness, we're going to struggle until that situation is rectified, as well as the makeshift defence we're having to field, so yesterday's result was no surprise!
Sadly (for us), I predict we're in for a touch spell until things improve, and also some players regaining their 'mojo', so I think more 'dodgy results' will follow until we start to click again, by which time, you guys will probably have the title wrapped up!:eyebrows:
Seriously though, on that point, I had the feeling before this season started that 10 was perhaps a step too far, and also as I'm a little superstitious, I get the feeling that neither team (Celtic or Rangers) are destined to win 10-in-a-row...
It happened when you guys were so close under Walter Smith, but it just petered out in that last season - and I think the same's happening to us. However, no doubt the Covid shite has had a big impact on our results, and I also think that you guys are dealing better with playing in empty stadia, especially at home games where we're defo BADLY missing our fans, and which often act as an 'extra man'.
Anyway, *if*, and it's a BIG IF (I also think unlikely), we're to take the title this year, it's only going to be after some kind of monumental comeback - and that's only IF you guys suffer a loss in form. I've always said that eventually Gerrard would win things at Rangers, given time, and I still stand by that now, as sooner rather than later it'll definitely become a reality.
Marco.
nothing is won in october, but i guess you can lose tyhings. gap is only 3 points if the game in hand is won.. rangers i think are stronger and celtic maybe weaker so it might be very close at end.
Sure I agree that nothing is won in October, just making my prediction (which often is right), and so stand by what I've said.
If both teams could field their strongest starting 11, I don't think that Rangers are stronger, for me arguably the opposite, but they're certainly the form team at the moment, and perhaps, as I've said, also coping better with not playing in front of fans.
Last season, for example, Rangers dropped quite a few unexpected points at home, partly for me because of players feeling the pressure from home fans to win, and so relieved of that this season, they've benefited, especially some of the foreign players. I'm not saying I'm right, just a theory:)
Plus, Rangers are also reaping the rewards of having given Gerrard (whom I predict will go on to become a successful manager at the highest level) time to implement his tactical style and 'will' on the team. I've always said that it takes a good 3 years minimum for managers to make a proper impact, and so stand by that.
At Liverpool. that was proven with Klopp, and the same will happen at Rangers, with Gerrard.
Marco.
think i said or meant they are stronger this season and celtic weaker this season. also not sure if lennon has the complete dressing room at moment which doesnt help.
wouldnt surprise me if he went...
Nah, no chance, short of a Celtic completely capitulating, that won't happen, although you could be right about the dressing room thing. He'll fix it, though.
For me, the only area Celtic are notably weaker this season than last is in the goalkeeping position, as at the moment anyway, Barkas isn't as good as Forster -nowhere near it. Other than that, we've held onto all our best players, so how can we be weaker?
Plus, most of the new signings have been decent. although many have to still to hit top form. Our biggest miss at the moment is big Julien. I would hope his doubters about how good a defender he is are now realising how wrong they were! And also the loss of form of Edouard, plus him being out with Covid.
I reckon when Julien returns, him and Duffy will form a great partnership, which simply isn't happening at the moment with Ajer, who for me is rather overrated.
Marco.

I watched both games yesterday, the least Aberdeen deserved was draw. As for Rangers they played a slightly different way, than they have even in recent games and it didn’t really work only they did score two early goals but didn’t capitalize on that position. As for the league we are in much they position as last year and we know how that turned out. Nothing is won in October.
I see 2 of the milan players that played v celtic have now tested pos for civid
As I said, Robin, it's just a prediction - of course I hope I'm wrong!;)

Of course Celtic and Aberdeen meet again this weekend , although there is the small matter of a couple of European ties before that.
Indeed, but unfortunately I'm not expecting too much from any of those games until the areas I've outlined have been successfully addressed.
Btw, I know where you're coming from when you say that Rangers were in a similar position last season, but this season is quite different. It's a different Rangers team (by that I mean largely in coaching and mentality) - at no point last season were they six points ahead, and there's a valid reason for that.
If we don't get all three points from Aberdeen, from our game in hand, and I'm far from confident, it'll be a long hard season ahead for us.

The big difference for Rangers this season is that we now a stronger bench and at present we only have a couple of players missing due injury. It will be long season as so far everyone has only played each team once.
Yes, that and Gerrard's methods are starting to sink in. Don't underestimate the significance of that, too.
Marco.
time will tell but as robin says, rangers bench looks pretty strong now. still to see best of itten but i think he is going to be a good player. 4 top strikers is very helpful, but the midfield has to supply the chances

Poor second half from Celtic, but they would probably have taken a draw before kick off.
Indeed, but the injury to Ajer was the turning point, and an unfit Bitton taking his place. I wouldn't have expected our grossly makeshift defence to have held out from there for the whole of the second half. Plus, Lille, who are a very good and unbeaten side this season, and as the home side, were bound to come back in the second half, and they did.
Overall a much better performance from Celtic than they've had recently, and we'd have taken a point before the game. At least some of our unwell players are starting to return, so signs that the recent malaise we've been experiencing many be on the wane!
Good luck against the Poles:cool:

Second half was an improvement, great goal and a win , all good.
More co efficient points too. Morelos equalling Ally McCoists euro record of 21 goals.
Yeah, good stuff... TBH, what we pulled off last night was a bit of a miracle, against a *very* good Lille side on their patch, assembled at huge cost, where prior to last night's game no-one this season has scored against them and they were unbeaten.
So to go into the second half 2-0 up, with I have to say a couple of wonder goals from Elyounoussi, after having controlled most of the first half, fielding our second-choice keeper, who before that had only played 90 mins in about 2 months, and without one of our main centre-halves, then to hold on in the end for a point, after losing Ajer for most of the second half [now out for the Cup Semi-Final on Sunday:doh:], was a remarkable result - and if we'd taken more of our chances we could've won it...
Therefore I hope the players can take heart and gain some confidence from that performance and use it to kick on now, after a very hard spell, I have to say brought on through legitimate reasons. However, until we can get everyone who's returned fully match fit, and clicking together again, it'll still be difficult. But the encouraging signs are there.
Marco.

indeed.. a terrible surface for playing good football, and killy are a bogey side so 3 points is a victory in itself. made 20 shots but only 4 on target. on a better surface it may well have been a lot more.

Well done to Celtic, really good first goal by Christie.
2-0 in the end... Did what we needed to do in the first half, then just cruised the game after that, no doubt with a view to preserving tired legs after the team's exertions in Europe on Thursday night.
You can also see the difference now we're getting some players back and more match fit. Edouard's still got a bit to go yet, but he's getting there, as is the team as a whole, although we're still badly missing the likes of Jullien, Ajer and Forrest. Wouldn't anyone?
However, a much better performance, also with a badly needed clean sheet, which will do the confidence of the defence, and particularly Shane Duffy (who had a good game) the world of good! So.... Into the final against Hearts, which will be a hard game, even though they're now a Championship side, BUT - the quadruple treble is still ON!:)
TBH, and I mean this, I'd settle for securing the quadruple treble this season, *if* Rangers win the league by simply being the better and more consistent team, in which case, albeit reluctantly, I'd doff my hat and say 'Well done'. Why? Because, there's every bit as little chance of anyone ever winning another QT, as there is another 9 or 10 in a row!
Therefore, having already achieved 'two nines', if we end up missing out on a historic 10, but secure the QT, then that would still go into the history books as a phenomenal achievement. One thing's for sure, despite the UTTER SHITE that's been written recently in the press and social media, touting for Lenny to be sacked [I'd love to have slapped the c*nts responsible silly], which was just fucking ridiculous, LENNY IS GOING NOWHERE!!:nono:
God bless ya, NL - you're a true Celt, through and through, and without doubt the right man for the job. In time, you will go down in history as one of the CELTIC GREATS and a true legend!!:more::more:
:exactly:

Cheers, mate, as I know that would've come through gritted teeth!:D;)
Marco.
told ya:exactly:
Indeed... I was reasonably confident after the largely good performance in midweek, but before the game it was far from a 'stick on' win!:)
I've also got a feeling that Jonny Hayes would've been glad he missed the match through injury...;)
Marco.
i see 2 players who were not attached to the main squad on sunday decided to go out to a haloween party on sunday night at a friends. Jones and Edmunson; the former is deffo finished at club now, and wont surprise me if latter is too quite frankly. Fair enough it was found out before they came into contact with anyone at ibrox but nevertheless, their stupidity and total selfishness is everything you expect from these"we want for nothing" types but are still not satisfied. Jones should never be near ibrox again. keep him at the training centre until we can offload.
both are on 14 days isolation.

I actually like Leeds, and wish them well this season, but I'd take Leicester because of the BR factor. I'm not one of the bitter Celtic supporters who've disowned him because of his lack of 'loyalty', but rather still grateful for what he did for us while he was there, so wish him well, whoever he manages in future:)

Sadly, Man Utd are a shambles and have been since Fergie left. Solksjaer was never the right choice. What they need is either Zidane or Conte, and be prepared to spend big to get them, and also back them in the transfer market.
It's the ONLY way they've got a chance of regaining the glory days... Personally, I'd go for Zidane. But regardless, the next manager MUST be one of the BIG names!

Good luck against Benfica tonight, lads! If you can win that one, you'll *really* be in a special place this season - even a point would be good against a very talented team.
Hopefully we'll also get a good result against Sparta Prague, but it won't be easy, as I think they'll be keen to make a point after losing both of their games - but leys hope for two good results for our Scottish teams tonight, in order to keep boosting that co-efficient!

Anything points tonight will be a good result for us and i expect Celtic to win.
Indeed... I think they're as good as AC Milan, or even better. Therefore, what a magnificent advert for Rangers and Scottish football it would be if Rangers can give a good account of themselves and come back with a positive result!
They're certainly in the right place defensively at the moment, not conceding goals, so they have a chance, but their defence will certainly be tested tonight. Moreleos will also want to showcase himself as one of Europe's top strikers, so I'm looking for a big performance from him in particular.
Marco.
Very interesting, 1-0 down - and now against 10 men for most of the match! Them losing Pizzi was a blow for Benfica, as he was causing Rangers all sorts of problems...
Marco.
Edit: now 1-1!:thumbsup::more:

2-1 I think. 2 own goals and Kamara. They are down to 10 men
Lol - pay attention;)

Lol... You're missing a trick - you should have a big flatscreen TV on your bedroom wall, fed from the same signal as the one downstairs, and you could watch all your fav movies and stuff in bed:cool:
Anyway, if Rangers can hold onto this score or add to it, it'll be an amazing result!
Where's Batman's Robin tonight? Yer affy quiet, ma man:wave:
Marco.
So I see. Doing quite well
Yup, Kent just hit the post... Benfica haven't been the same team since having a man sent off, and their heads went down after the third goal. I can only see Rangers scoring more.
Marco.
3 2 now. Will they regret all the misses?
Chucked it away against 10 men!
Given how good their defence has been recently, I'm shocked at that. Helander had a nightmare. Still, it's a good point, but it could've been much more.
Marco.
Realistically a point is a great result and have to remember they are a good attacking force.
Absolutely, but against 10 men for 70 mins or so, and 3-1 up, you'd have expected better. Benfica's third would've had Gerrard tearing his hair out, as instead of keeping hold of the ball and running it into the corners, to waste time, they give it away and Benfica go up the park and score!
Unforgiveable....
Anyway, let's see how much of an arse we can make of our game:D

0-2 down at half time, and a shite performance so far - very flat! We're not going to get better defensively until Julien and Ajer return. Plus, we're *DEFO* missing our fans at home, and until that changes (will be a wait), I can see a few more dodgy results at home to come.

Trust me, I know what Celtic are capable of (or more likely incapable of) right now under the circumstances, and sadly haven't often been proven wrong so far.
You simply can't go into games like this in Europe, against any decent team, of which SP are one (despite what some folks might've thought beforehand),with a makeshift defence, minus your two main centre halves, along with a problematic goalkeeping situation, plus your main striker, when he's currently a shadow of his former self, and expect to get anywhere.
Simples.

Yeah, it's almost as if their main focus is on completing last season's games and winning the quadruple treble first before they take this season seriously:scratch:
The mindset seems totally different in those cup games. But more seriously, the team's a shambles at the moment, pretty much from back to front...
Bain's not the long-term answer as keeper, Barkas hasn't really settled in, probably because he's been playing in front of a different defence nearly every week, which is unsettling, Frimpong needs dropped, as for a youngster he's played too many games and his defensive frailties are being exposed, Duffy's confidence is shot and is trying too hard to please without having any faith in those round about him, Bitton's never a centre half, McGregor needs dropped, as he looks jaded, Brown's best days are probably behind him, Edouard looks disinterested, and the other strikers aren't getting a regular enough start to find proper form.
And we're MASSIVELY missing Jullien and Forrest.
I could go on... The only players who look properly 'at it', at the moment, are Laxalt, Rogic, Christie and Elyounoussi - so you're not going to compete properly and get consistent results when firing on only two cylinders - and that being generous!!

Hopefully your mob will keep concentrating on last season for a few more weeks. Of the games I seen , like the look of Laxait and Christie is starting to play well again. I could of course point out that you did have a couple of half decent keepers on the books but they have both, i still think Bain is half decent but is not being helped by those playing in front of him.
McGregor needs a rest i think , he looked very jaded when playing for Scotland the other week. Neil Lennon has his worked cut out me thinks.
Yup, too true on all fronts.
