Sorry to have woken you up. I was asleep again from 5.30-9am.

I have tried eating before going to sleep - and also drinking - water or similar not alcohol. May be coincidental, but sometimes messing around with food or drink seems to cause me to wake up with a very dry mouth, so not only have to get up to pee, but also to try to alleviate the mouth issue - probably with more liquid.

Generally I don't take any paracetamols or ibubrofen unless I have a specific pain or problem which requires those.

dry mouth might be sugar levels. maybe as youve eaten the went to bed before its digested etc and sugar burnt off. i dont eat usually after 6pm until im up in morning. im often in bed by 8 too if im tired etc usually up fairly early tho. i get tired quickly now as everything is hard..(well nearly everything lol)

I don't eat or drink anything after 5pm. Nor do I eat before noon, drink plenty of water and tea though. It suits me, I'm used to it.

Good grief, I'd be spending the night gnawing on the bed post! And as for not eating before noon, I wouldn't leave the house, not even to put the bins out, without having breakfast first.

But if your routine works for you that's great, and who's to say that by doing things the way I do, I'm not unknowingly making problems for myself?

My first breakfast (Shreddies) was 3 hours ago. Now I am playing Melody Gardot at low volume, and I can hardly hear her above my belly rumbling. So time for breakfast no. 2, which will be toast.

A bit of chocolate before bed can help with sleep. Obviously don't scoff the whole bar. Well, at least try not to.

Needs to be chocolate that has some cocoa content so not British chocolate.

Mmm - what shall I have? Often it's Malt Wheaties (LIDL or Aldi version) and one cheap Weetabix look alike found in Tesco for under £1. Plus coffee.

In recent months I've taken to having a couple of paracetamols at bedtime to help with my aching bones. I start off with a comfortable sleep, but then the buggers wear off and I do a lot of waking up from about 4am.

Got up at 6 this morning so decided to do an early visit to the local car boot. Got 4 CDs for 3 quid so not all bad.

What did you get?

My bladder wakes me up after about six hours. Can usually go back to sleep though, whether I actually get up and go for a slash or not. Opted not to get up for it his morning. When I did get up it was like that 'evacuation' scene from 'Austin Powers', I must have been pissing for two minutes straight.

Was up at 0700 this morning although alarm is not set at weekends, that's what time it is set to go off in the week. My brain is trained I suppose.

Seemed to all change once I got into my forties. Before that, waking up at midday on a weekend was not unusual and it was never earlier than 0930. I can't remember how long it has been since I woke up that late now.

As for it changing when you hit your 40s, just wait till you get to my age. Almost seems pointless going to bed.

Best one was "Naked Gun 2 1/2" I think it was called. Dreben gave a speech then went to the bog without turning off his mike. That went on for a couple of minutes :D And that's what I'm like if I leave it too long.

Oh, I got Paranoid - Black Sabbath, "The Way We Walk" - Genesis, "Night at the Opera" - Queen and "Bette Noir" Bryan Ferry. Nothing really worthy of note, apart from the Black Sabbath, which is really decent SQ too, given its age. All for 3 quid.

I have also been snuffling and sneezing a lot recently, probably hayfever, I find allergy remedies work well enough and don't make me drowsy. Mind you, I recall the onset of Omicron being similar!

Oh - re. the hayfever, I might have mentioned elsewhere that my partner seems to be suffering badly from it at the moment. Antihistmatines just make her feel drowsy, and Optrex eye drops initially appeared ineffectual. But with repeated use the eye drops are having a beneficial effect. She now takes them before going to bed and wakes up clear-eyed, and that is with the bedroom windows open because of the heat.

Might be that your partner has just got better at applying the eye drops. Letting something drip onto your eyeball isn't really something that comes naturally. Good that it's now working for her anyway.

I've been fortunate in never having suffered from hay fever, but there might still be time - someone told me it can start later in life.

You have my sympathy Grant, a restful night is a wonderful thing, I'm told. I'm not so bad, just low level aches and pains which wake me when I turn over. Can be helped for a while with just a couple of paracetamol and ibuprofen. If your pain is keeping you from sleeping it must be pretty bad.

A really cold spell comiing up. Can't get back to sleep after a trip to the loo, so giving up, getting out of bed, and doing other things.
It's not supposed to go above zero all day - so will light a fire later in order to try to push the temperature up in here.
Too many things seem to be going wrong all at once, but I guess somehow we'll get through it. I can do without the pressure of Christmas.
Christmas cards might not get sent this year.

just had terrible nightmare which isn't like me.

dreamed I took new job at a place I used to work years ago, headhunted, more money etc.

First day it was terrible, the place was still under construction, went to canteen for lunch and there was hundreds of people milling about. Queued up for food but when I got there they said there was none left. Then nearly got in a fight with some tall bloke I bumped into in the crush.

Realised I made a mistake leaving my old job but thought well it's Monday and I only left my old job Friday maybe they will take me back. So called my old bosses' mobile but some bird answers and says 'No he's away for the week'. Asked her who she was and she says 'It's my first day.' Realised I had already been replaced.

Thought I had to get away from all these people so went out a fire exit but it led out onto a ledge four stories up and I couldn't get back. Everything I grabbed onto for purchase came away in my hands. That was where I woke up.

0530 not much point going back to sleep now so having a brew. It was traumatic I tell you.

And you will make that money back in energy savings, if you live long enough.

Good to see others dropping in here from time to time, though I've not been quite so bad at sleeping lately.

Lately my partner and I have been up doing things as late as 04:30. Crazy I know, but we are retired and don't have to get up at a sensible time to go to work.

That's fine if you can make up for it with a lie-in. It doesn't matter how late I go to bed, I still have to get up at 6.30am. Then I'm nodding off all day.

So which one is your favourite presenter, and which one annoys you the most? Mine is Danni, she looks like good fun. And Laura ain't too shabby either. There's another one, who yodels a bit when she speaks, does my head in. But it's the couples who just want a free holiday and probably had no intention to buy anything that really annoy me.

Not that I see the programme very much, that would be sad.

Ah - Hi Adrian!

I've been up for around an hour now, but maybe it's time to head back to bed.

Just reviewing odd bits of music I put together, but will have to give up now.

Not sure what to do today.

Currently reviewing this one - https://soundcloud.com/user-977473438/where-to-go-next-v2?si=c46c29e50dce4098aaea4eea6d050ece&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

I still don't know where this one should go.

Up at 0530. Had one of those dreams where it's like a film. I was in New York at Christmas and I had to deliver a satchel full of gold coins to the mob, but it was just problem after problem. At one point I'd lost my shoes.

I think having a kebab before going to bed didn't help.

Recently I've been having reoccurring dreams where I'm in a part of town that I know well, go down a couple of side streets and find myself completely lost, can't find my way back and then wake up!

Not sure what Freud would say about it - probably something about not being breastfeed as a baby.

I've had that dream many many times over the years. Quite often the "town" is Valletta, which in my dream is only walking distance from home.

IME all weird dreams are down to either stress, or dodgy food. Or both.

I've never had a dream like that, but then I've never been to Valletta.

My recurring dream is that I'm trying to get some peace and quiet to watch a film or listen to music, but people keep wandering into the room. I kick them out and lock the door but then more people come in through another door, even though I locked that already. So I keep kicking people out and locking doors all the way through until I wake up.

No idea what that's all about since, living alone, I don't have any problem with people intruding on me.

The weirdest dreams I've found are the ones most recent. I have no memory of the dreams I had last night, but I woke up briefly about 5am, and when I woke again at 6.30 I could vividly recall the dreams I had during that short period. I won't bore you with it, but it involved forgetting how to ride my motorbike.

Dreams that happened earlier in the night are lost forever, unless I were to wake up and commit it to conscious memory.

You might have something there, but I've never seen the first one and the second one I have only sort of half watched a few years back when I was at my brother's for Christmas and his children insisted on it.

The Home Alone films have some of the best slapstick comedy you'll ever see :)

During the 90s, violent crime in New York fell by more than 56%, and property crime by 65%, compared to just 26% nationally. Many attribute this to the "get tough" policies of Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's administration, as well as the 35% increase in police officer numbers in NYC, but I reckon the Home Alone films played a big part.
