Just been to the supermarket - I walk in the entrance and there are five people standing around having a converstaion in the vestibule between the two sets of automatic doors. It is quite a large space but instead of standing off to one side they are spread out right across so that it is impossible to get past them without pushing past. How 'kin ignorant are people? I could understand if they were chavs or teenagers but they were in their fifties/sixties and should know better, huge temptation to slap all of them:steam:

People just don't seem to pay attention to anything that is happening around them, they are in their own little dream-worlds. You could have their trousers off them and they wouldn't notice. There is a great Derren Brown stunt where he goes into a small but high end jewellers in New York - he asks to see a necklace, examines it, declares he wants to buy it, pulls out a wad of bills - it is about $5K, this necklace. The cashier serves him, bags it up, issues a receipt and he walks out the door. But he has not paid - all he has given here is a pile of blank, bill sized pieces of white paper, which she has happily put into the till. His trick was to divert her attention as he was handing over the blanks by asking her where the nearest subway stop was. Amazing, really. (he does take the necklace back btw).

Why do people in supermarkets always wait until they have had all their shopping scanned and put in bags before they spend 5 mins trying to find their wallet or purse...

It's the same with buss passes and oyster cards...:steam:

On a similar theme:

Some people don’t know how to walk on the pavement these days
Well it’s not that difficult, there’s hardly a whole host of ways
Here they come, love’s young dream, arm in arm, approaching me
Now, I’m not looking for your smile
I’m just asking for some single file
But it’s not forthcoming so I have to assume
That this narrow path belongs to you
And therefore you must be
The Duke of Westminster and his good lady wife
So, I tell you what, I’ll just walk in the road
How about I just walk in the road?
You stay as you are, and I’ll just walk in the road

I had a pearler a couple months ago. In a well known supermarket near us there's rows of standard checkouts, a row of self service checkouts & also checkouts for baskets with around half a dozen things.

Some plonker was in our long que at the standard checkout with a basket full of two items! i kid you not i basically had to convince him all those self service & small amount checkouts were empty & created especially for him

Talking of pig ignorance, I have a mate who owns his own truck and before I did my back in I used to help him out as a drivers mate on the weekends. I didn't want paying mind you, I just enjoyed it for the craic.

Anyway, we were heading for our last drop of the day which was in Wolverhampton. On this occasion we were delivering garden furniture to Do It All's and we turned up at the Wolverhampton branch at just gone 5pm on a Saturday evening, a little late as it happens due to traffic. The rear doors of Goods In were open so we backed the wagon up to the doors, got out and walked inside to wait for someone to appear to sign the paperwork so we could unload.

After a few minutes a tall and skinny dude with a goatie appeared with a face as long as a horse. He marched up to us, placed a hand on both our chests and began pushing us outside without saying a word. We were both a bit surprised to comment at the time. Once we were outside he sparked into life:

"See this line here?" he remarked, pointing out a yellow line that had been painted on the threshold of the Goods In department. "that line is to keep thieving, bastard drivers such as yourselves out of my shop".

For a moment we just stood there and gawped. Then, as what he had said and done sunk in we both found our voices and told him where he could stick his fuggin' yellow line and promptly got back into the cab of the wagon and drove off to have a cup of tea and some grub.

A little while later after a delicious meal and a few plaintive phone calls from the Wolverhampton branch of Do It All, we eventually sauntered back to the store at 6:45pm and told the same guy, now on his own as all the staff had buggered off for the night, that we would wait in the cab while he unloaded his delivery... ;)

A while back I was walking up the aisle next to the tills in Tesco and the aisle is narrow in this particular branch. Anyway, some prat deliberately pushed his trolley from a side aisle, across to behind the next person at the till queue, totally blocking my way.

He gave me a blank look and just stood there. Needless to say I was not impressed. I grabbed the front of his trolley and shoved it backwards hard several feet, with him still hanging onto it. At least I got past.

I then had five minutes of this dick following me about ranting. It was his lucky day. I was not stupid enough to deal with him in my customary way and have it recorded by the security cameras.

After being told to f*ck off half a dozen times, he did!

Some plonker was in our long que at the standard checkout with a basket full of two items! i kid you not i basically had to convince him all those self service & small amount checkouts were empty & created especially for him

Ah, now I have some sympathy for that type of daftness...

I simply refuse to use self-service checkouts - firstly because they're a bloody nightmare, as quite often they refuse to read the bar codes of the stuff I'm buying, or having to deal with the nightmare of weighing fresh produce yourself, whilst others are behind watching you impatiently, and as I always pay with cash, quite often the bit where you put your money in refuses to read the notes if they're a bit creased, or refuses to accept certain coins, but mostly because, in the retail price of the goods I'm buying, I'm paying for the wages of a member of staff to scan (and if necessary pack) my shopping for me!!

So what the f*ck should I do it myself?? :nono:

Self-service checkouts (just like any service that is automated) are a cop-out for supermarkets to cut down on the amount of staff manning the other tills. They should have more bloody tills open and manned by staff in the first place, especially during the busiest periods!!

I'll tell you how I deal with the situation you've outlined, Andre - I get hold of a member of staff wandering around doing supposedly something else 'more important' and 'politely request' that they open more tills to deal with the queues. More often than not, that's what happens, or if not it does, after speaking to a supervisor.

The more people who use those bloody self-service checkouts, the more they'll introduce, until eventually they out-number the other tills, so the staff need to be told that the situation is unacceptable... If they want me to use self-service checkouts, then charge me fooking self-service prices, and offer a 10% discount on the price of my shopping, which reflects the amount I'm paying on the price tag supposedly for the privilege of someone serving me!!! :exactly:

Marco.

04-02-2013, 07:40
Well said Marco. You've stolen my thunder. I simply refuse to use the self service checkouts for all the reasons you highlight. I'm fortunate to live in a Town with three major supermarkets. I have been known to leave my trolley of shopping at the tills and go elsewhere. If everybody did that they'd soon get more staff. The supermarkets make mega millions and have forced good shops put of business. It's just corporate greed.

Rare Bird
04-02-2013, 07:41
yes i understand i feel the same about self service but theres also the manned checkouts for small quantity basket but he decided to cue in the big boys lane, those small item manned tills are designed to alleviate the pressure from the big checkouts.

Put it this way while he's stood infront of me with a basket of half a dozen things gorping into space he's holding me up & causing a longer que, when he can use the empty manned basket tills which would have him on his way in a few mins.

Macca
04-02-2013, 08:46
I also refuse to use the self service - problem is a lot of people think that way too. Mr sainsbury's solution to that problem - close the basket- only till alltogether so if you are just buying a couple of items you have to queue behind people with masive trolleys piled high who take ages - or you can go to the tobacco counter which is 6 items or fewer and is also the lottery ticket counter so you have to wait behind the idiots who have not figured out how to buy their tickets on line or chavs buying scratch cards. Now I can understand having a punt on the lotto once a week but who the f*ck buys scratch cards? Why don't they just set up a roulette table and have done with it? Would be better odds of a win as well...

For you that don't know what this is, it's when someone lifts their voice in tone at the end of practically every sentence to sound like a question or to gain a response.

why on earth do some people type "cee dee" instead of "CD"?

I guess this is done for the same reason some people type “geetaah” instead of “guitar”. Sounds and looks cooler, I think.

Now for something completely different: A few months ago I noticed all of a sudden the frequent usage of the appendix “ish”.

There's a toll bridge near where I live. The queues can be quite long at peak times.

Whatever works, in your relationship, dude. I'm not a selfish person either.

Fortunately Del and I mostly enjoy doing the same things, but if I'm doing something that I know she won't enjoy (such as going to a footy match with my mates), then she does her own thing, and vice versa. Neither of us would be happy suffering something we didn't want to do, unless it was an absolute necessity.

When we're not together, Del has her friends and I have mine. Sometimes we need our own space! :)

High-maintenance defo isn't good!

The good thing about Del, in terms of shopping, especially for clothes, is that she likes things which are bespoke/unusual and definitely not run of the mill, so that tends to take us to privately owned boutiques, where they sell that type of thing, not least because she's also tiny (size 6 or 8), but not skinny (she has curves). She's just very petite, and so designer stuff is what tends to fit her, as the garments generally comes in smaller sizes, or kids clothes (!) and those types of shops are always much quieter and less stressful to shop in than your average high-street multiple :)

Even still, she'll identify very quickly what she likes (or I'll pick something out for her, as I generally know what suits her, and she likes my taste), tries it on, and makes a decision on whether she wants it or not. She won't arse around forever like a lot of women do, and traipse from shop to shop, eventually ending up buying what she seen in the first shop she went into!

Del actually gets a lot of her clothes in France (we're usually there once a year), which aren't cheap, as French women tend to be quite petite, but they last her a long time. Like me, she prefers to buy something good quality (and unusual) that will last a while, than loads of cheapy stuff all the time that lasts two washes and then it's fooked, which actually works out cheaper in the long run!

This is why I seldom go to the cinema any more Martin. If I do I wait until the last week a film is showing when they tend be moved to one of the smaller screens in our multiplex. The thing about this horse meat job is that most of the food it's been found in is.....well...I wouldn't put that shite in my mouth anyway - beef or no beef.

I've got no problem with the principle of scoffing horse meat - it's rather nice actually! But I'm rather afraid this thing is much bigger than has so far been discovered and I reckon people will be surprised when we find just how many people have been getting rich on this particular wheeze. I heard a report the other day of knackered & diseased animals being sold for a tenner a piece and being butchered & processed for a final value of about £500 - that was in Great Britain.

Marco
12-02-2013, 18:46
Mmm... I hear ya, dude, and you make valid points, but I dislike the principle behind self-service checkouts - which is to make already rich supermarkets even richer! :nono:

I'm paying to be served, and served is what I demand!!

You can't legislate for the behaviour of fuckwits, but the experience would be a whole lot better if the checkout staff shifted themselves, instead of appearing to be on a continual 'go slow', and also tried to hurry things along by prompting customers, whilst scanning items, to have their method of payment ready, and cutting out banal chit-chit.

We need to have better trained, more efficient, self-motivated, checkout staff, manning more tills, not more self-service checkouts acting as a cop-out for the problems of the present situation! That's merely putting a sticking plaster on the problem, not solving it.

Oh, and before anyone says how can you expect a checkout operator on 'buttons an hour' to be arsed doing anything else but going through the motions, try shopping in Lidl or Aldi... The staff present scan items through rapid-style, in order to get people through the checkouts as quickly as possible, whilst being friendly but not overly familiar. Their staff are appropriately 'switched on' and self-motivated, so you're rarely in a queue at a checkout for long. This is quite obviously due to their training.

Therefore, if Lidl or Aldi can get it right, then I don't see why Asda, Tesco, etc, can't!!! :exactly:

Indeed... The thing is, I don't like supermarkets, and so when I use them, I want the experience over and done with as soon as possible.

It's a different ball game when I'm at my local butcher or fishmonger. They know my name and I know theirs, and we have a good old chinwag, and they reward me with excellent service.

However, the last I want when I'm in a supermarket is to listen to pish from some checkout assistant, who chances are I'll never meet again. It's simply a matter of adjusting to the environment you're in :)

That is a very good question and one the majors might want to look into, after all both Aldi's and Lidl's prices are comparable and often cheaper. Another thing, although their range is tiny in comparison the quality of the fruit and veg sold in both stores is superb.

Yep, keep up the good work on the fag front, Dave! :)

Regarding on-line supermarket shopping, I fully understand why some people choose (or even need) to shop that way. However, it's defo not for me, as the major thing that puts me off is not being able to pick up fresh produce, such as fruit and veg, and examine it first, before buying it.

It strikes me that it'd be the perfect opportunity for the supermarket concerned to unload all their scabby, bruised and battered produce onto you, as you're not there to control the selection process. Do none of you who use on-line services experience this problem sometimes?

Certainly, whoever is selecting the stuff won't go to the same bother I would in ensuring that I have no bruised apples or under-ripe bananas, or hand-picking the best of what's there. For me, that process is essential. Also, what about sell-by dates? I always select goods from right at the back of shelves (never the stuff at the front) to ensure that what I've got is as fresh as possible and will also last the longest.

I can't see the supermarket doing that for you... As for wine, I'm an impulsive buyer, so generally have no idea what I want before I get there. I like to browse the shelves and read labels and see what takes my fancy, which pretty much applies to everything else I'm shopping for.

Furthermore, how do you order produce from the fishmonger, butchery or deli section on-line? If, say, I'm at the butchery section and I fancy a freshly cut piece of rib-eye steak, to the size I want, or some Parma ham, from the deli, cut to the thickness I want, how would I order that on-line?

Also, being semi-retired, I've got plenty of time to get out into the real world and do some proper 'hands on' shopping, so I think that the only time I'll ever do it on-line is when I'm too old and frail to shop for groceries any other way! :exactly:

Anything delivered that is not up to par is returned to the van and a refund is issued on the spot. The delivery drivers check the orders for accuracy and quality alongside the customer before they leave. If a problem is picked up once the driver has left, a quick email to Tesco and a no quibble refund policy seals the deal. Incidentally, if the product you ordered is not available, Tesco have a policy of replacing it with a product of higher value. We buy cheap wine for cooking purposes (about £2.50 a bottle) They ran out of their cheap red a couple of weeks back and I now have a rather nice bottle of Tesco Pinot Noir priced at £7.59 for my trouble. Another time just before Christmas and obviously before we gave up smoking, they had run out of our usual cheap ciggies and we ended up with 200 B&H :)

Lol... Don't forget that I worked my ass off, like a dog, in "the real world" to get to where I am now. Nothing I've achieved in life was handed to me on a plate! ;)

However why on earth should i make time or over spend on an excersize i have no intrest in, let along time for!

Eating, Buying & most of all spending on food is something that i really could do without.

We're been here before, dude. In that respect, we're very different. Enjoying nice food and wine (especially in the company of friends and family who share the same values), for me, is one of life's greatest pleasures :)

You'd hate it in Italy, as families can often spend 5-6 hours together over lunch (especially in the summer), doing nothing but eating and drinking the most amazing food and wine - oh what a chore!! :eyebrows:

Hi Dave,

Anything delivered that is not up to par is returned to the van and a refund is issued on the spot. The delivery drivers check the orders for accuracy and quality alongside the customer before they leave. If a problem is picked up once the driver has left, a quick email to Tesco and a no quibble refund policy seals the deal.

Fair enough, but in that situation getting a refund would not be my primary concern (I'd take that as a given) - it would be the inconvenience of not being delivered the items I wanted, and the hassle then involved for me to sort it out. *That* would be the most important thing! :)

Imagine if we were having friends over for dinner that evening and, due to some items not being up to par, Del was now short of key ingredients to make whatever it was she was making for dinner. How exactly would that get sorted out? Do they send another van over immediately with the replacement items?

Incidentally, if the product you ordered is not available, Tesco have a policy of replacing it with a product of higher value. We buy cheap wine for cooking purposes (about £2.50 a bottle) They ran out of their cheap red a couple of weeks back and I now have a rather nice bottle of Tesco Pinot Noir priced at £7.59 for my trouble. Another time just before Christmas and obviously before we gave up smoking, they had run out of our usual cheap ciggies and we ended up with 200 B&H

Nice one - you won a watch there! However, if I may offer you a tip... The best wine for "cooking purposes" is the same one you would normally drink with your meal (!) so buy the BEST you can afford. Trust me, you will instantly taste the difference of using good wine in cooking, as opposed to plonk! ;)

Any comments on this:

Furthermore, how do you order produce from the fishmonger, butchery or deli section on-line? If, say, I'm at the butchery section of the supermarket and I fancy a freshly cut piece of rib-eye steak, to the size I want, or some Parma ham, from the deli, cut to the specific thickness I want, how would I order that on-line?

I'm intrigued as to how something like that could be achieved

The system is not perfect Marco and you do have to put a certain amount of trust in the pickers but they have not let us down as yet, especially when it comes to fresh meat and veg. I think the only continuing issue we have is uncut instead of cut loafs being delivered, but that is due to the bread being too fresh and warm to cut at the store, which is a nice problem to have really. We did have a delivery go astray a couple of years ago and the store was very apologetic, the order was delivered the following day and we were given one hundred pounds worth of Tesco vouchers as compensation.

There are obvious compromises shopping this way but it suits our circumstances. The only other option would be to send someone to do our shopping for us, and that person would be a member of the family. Why put them out when we can get the store to do it and deliver it, all for the cost of going to the shops in the first place ;)

Sorry to hear you have the flu :eyebrows:

I was interested to hear, a couple of weeks ago, some things about home deliveries from supermarkets. I understand a few of them are rather regretting having offered this service because of its expense. Apparently the average order costs between £15 and £25 to pick and bag. That doesn't include the cost of delivery, which must be significant.

Given that they're not directly charging you anything like this for the service, we must expect that it's recouped through the sales of all items they stock.

Now this is great if you avail yourself of the service, but I don't. And I actually resent subsidising the groceries of someone who can't be arsed to go and get their own shopping.

For those that aren't able to, then that's fine, I'm all for community spirit in that way, but for those who're 'too busy', then I want my bloody money back. I'll take it in groceries if that's the most convenient way for them to pay!

Marco
13-02-2013, 09:17
Ha - that's a very good point, Chris! I certainly don't begrudge the disabled or infirm who need that type of service, but the lazy arses are a different matter entirely!

Cheers for the well wishes, chaps. It's a pain, but thankfully I don't get flu very often.

I think we can all agree that I'm not really the type of person on-line supermarket shopping is aimed at, and draw a line under that part of the discussion :)

Get well soon, Marco.

I wouldn't want to be committed to being in to receive food deliveries, I don't run my life like that (I also have everything I order delivered to my place of work, hardly useful for food). Anyway, I shop on instinct and browse for things and I actually don't mind wandering around the supermarket.

To change the subject and while we are on the subject of pet hates . . . . . . . .

What is winding me up intensely at the moment is the recruitment circus.

I sit at this bloody computer for hours each week digesting the contents of recruitment adverts, making damn sure that my skills fit EXACTLY at worst, exceed at best, the candidate profile and job specification, I absorb all the horseshit about how wonderful this company could be to work for, blah, blah, blah, ad nauseum. I then write a concise reply to all the points and send it of by email or online application process . . . . . . then wait. And wait. And then wait some more.

If I am truly lucky I get an autoresponder message about the vast number of applicants that will inundate this poor organisation and because of that if I don't get any further contact then my application has been unsuccessful.

In the overwhelming majority of cases there is no response whatsoever. For goodness sake, it takes less than 10 seconds to compose and send an email that says "Piss off" so I don't accept anyone is "too busy" to do that. Even that email would be less offensive in my opinion because it would be at least some form of communication.

Given that most of these applications are made for jobs that I NEED to do to live, rather than what I WANT to do because they may appeal or are within my specialities, I sometimes chase up the applications that fall into the latter camp. I often get told they were "inundated" with . . . . . less than 10 applicants FFS! I haven't finished my rant yet, so get comfy.

What pisses me off even more than all that, is the fact I subsequently discover that they selected and recruited a total incompetent and inept imbecile, yet I never had the courtesy of a reply :steam::steam::steam::steam::steam::steam:

Little wonder then that a survey last year highlighted the fact that employers stated they were dissatisfied with over 74% of the candidates they selected and employed in both managerial and skilled posts. No wonder really.

The only silver lining for me is at least I am now not spending a fortune on stationery and postage plus tramping to the post box in pursuit of this pot of gold.

I sympathise, Frank. I would say in employers' defence that 'HR creep' is responsible for a lot of this. The manager who will be taking on the person has some say (although I've known it happen that they are not even involved in the recruitment process) but then HR clobber everything with a selected candidate who ticks all their boxes but is an inept incompetent who happens to know all the politically correct answers.

When I'm recruiting for my team, I absolutely insist on making the final decision. However, you should see the paperwork I have to generate for every interviewed candidate, whether successful or not (how do you put 'f*ckwit' politely on a feedback response form?). It puts me off making the shortlist any longer than about four candidates, and that's risky. And what pisses me off is a shortlisted candidate who comes to interview and hasn't even bothered doing the basic research on my company :steam:

By the way, I make it my job to thank each and every person making a job application. It's only polite.

HR are a total pain in the rump, no mistake. I could accept they were doing their job IF the chosen candidate was the right person for the job, but their tick box mentality means the opposite is true. I have never seen any tick box that requests information for easy but essential things like 'common sense' or 'loyalty' so the entire system is flawed from the very start.

Re: Employment agencies & HR

I note that it is currently in vogue for HR departments to bin CVs from applicants who aren't currently in employment. You had better never lose your job, or you will be automatically disqualified from getting a job.

That absolutely defies any sort of logic, even by the low standards of 'human remains'. I look forward to the distant future when the employment market picks up and we can all repay those employers for their contempt.

Recruitment consultants are somewhat lower on the scale of ethical values than even estate agents. Most are scumbags, wideboys and chancers, although there are exceptions.

Cheers,
A.

Well, while we're on this subject. DEGREES. Nothing against them per se but the country is obsessed with them. My wife (51) is working towards one at the moment because her employers require her to. My daughter is doing her second one because her first one (textiles) proved to be worthless when she wanted a job in textile design. I know five young people who are unemployed despite having masters degrees (and not in silly subjects either). I know lots of people with degrees who are working in bars and cafes.

Successive governments have encouraged young people to get degrees with the promise of highly paid work. The reality is that we are steadily becoming a low wage economy. I'd love to know how many people with degrees are working for the minimum wage.

In my own industry (media) the rise in journalism/media courses is outrageous. The UKs newspaper industry is in terminal decline. I retired seven years ago because there were no jobs. It's worse now.

The last job I applied for (it was fairly crap) I didn't even get an interview despite a CV that most journalists would die for. I've been a daily paper editor, worked for a national Sunday newspaper, had a weekly radio programme, written pieces for The Times, Guardian and Telegraph and I've also done bits of TV. I didn't get an interview because the HR people had decided that a degree was required for a fairly big standard PR job.

Which brings me to my point. I don't consider myself particularly intelligent, or intelligent at all, but I'm always staggered that the majority of people I meet who have degrees are pretty dim.

I'm afraid degrees are like arses. Everybody has one.

Well, except me.

Knowing how their minds work, they would be thinking when they read that "If this person is self employed or a consultant and they are successful, what the heck are they doing applying for a job?". There is some logic there I suppose.

In addition to that though, they also question the distance you are willing to commute "They won't want to travel this far each day", they regard with great suspicion if your previous salary and position was higher than the job applied for "Won't stop long here will be looking for better, big fish in a small pond, will be bored here, etc.". If there has been a career break they believe you have forgotten everything you know and so the list goes on and on for the reasons why THEY are making YOUR decisions by proxy. I know this to be true because I have witnessed first hand what they think and say.

The last is the worst though because they believe anyone over the age of 50 is verging on suffering from Alzheimers, needing a zimmer frame and plagued by incontinence, with their brains turning to some form of runny grey soup. My only consolation is that one day that very same misguided prejudice will be equally lavished on them by some snotty nosed pimpled college leaver with 2 GCSEs and a bad attitude. No sympathy at all from me then :steam:

It's the continuing Americanising of our English language.

Why don't they learn to use proper English instead of misspelling and tweeking it? It may be normal to the Yanks, but it just looks stupid to me and very annoying!!!!

I was driving behind a woman motorist yesterday and she kept wandering about from one side of the traffic lane to the other. At the traffic lights it was all delayed action, waiting for it to dawn on her that they'd changed to green and then getting the car into gear and pulling away so slowly that it took a quarter of a mile to reach her terminal velocity of around 18mph. Then stopping to let pedestrians across where there was no proper crossing. That gets people run over! It was all totally hopeless really. Crap drivers are a major 'pet hate' with me.

Andre, once again I think you are having one if your pathetic little digs. I ignore you as much as possible but I've spent my life dealing in facts. I think you've seen my avatar and assumed (wrongly as is your norm) that I have 'fluffy little alien dogs'.

I own two Tibetan Terriers. I've had various dogs over the past 50 years (none of them little and fluffy) and the Tibetans are the best breed I've ever had.

FYI this is from Wiki "The appearance of the Tibetan Terrier is that of a powerful, medium sized dog of square proportions, with a shaggy coat."

They're actually working dogs in Tibet. Hope you approve.

Now, listen up. I'm a bit fed up of your snide little comments so I'm asking you nicely to get off my case. I do my best to ignore your pathetic behaviour but I have my limits.

Don't you hate it when you're in the pub and you inadvertently put your fingers on that lump of old chewing gum some dirty bastard has stuck under a counter edge or under a stool top?

If I caught somebody doing that there would be words, to say the least.

Probably the same scumbags who find it amusing to pick their nose and stick bogies on the wall in the gents.

I lied, I quite enjoy that!!!! Bwahahahahaha!!!

Does it annoy you when people say "blah, blah, blah" in conversation when discussing what somebody else has said, simply because they're too lazy to elaborate.

No, because some people blather on and it's short code for "they spoke a lot of meaningless drivel".

It really gets up my nose if I see "High End" quoted when some git is flogging any old bit of Audio gear on eBay. It's usually something like an old Saisho amp and the like.

The people who park by the Air machine at petrol stations. The lazy sods can't be bothered to park and walk the 20 paces from the allocated parking bays to buy their fags/ crisps etc.. this happens every time i want Air....
Oh and the ones who park by the cashpoint at the supermarket blocking the road, just park up and walk like everyone else. LAZY.:steam:

Further to that, the ones who ignore the vast acres of empty car park at the supermarket and stop and wait for a space by the entrance. Aaaaaaargh!

I was going to say that as well Martin, but was getting into to much of a rant, i know there is the odd person who will be dropped off by the entrance due to walking problems etc, but the ones who come out with shopping and wait for their other half to pull up and then load up on the road. Grrrrrrr..... Oh and parking in the parent and child parking space , when your kids are teenagers... don't get me started on parking in a disabled parking bay..

While they're inside paying, let down one of their tyres and leave a note stuck to their windscreen, which says: 'Now you have a bloody good reason to park here, you lazy c*nt!!'

I do agree, though. I hate the lazy fookers who simply scrape the snow off of their windscreens and then proceed to drive around in what amounts to a mobile igloo!!

it was chaos around here last night and this morning, the worst its been for years, no gritters to be seen anywhere yesterday until it was to late, within a few hours the roads were completely blocked up and impassable with many people spending the night in their cars and taking some 4 hours to drive a few miles

Nightmare... Something funny's happening these days, as quite often now the worst of the bad weather is in the south of the UK, rather than in the north, as it once used to be.

Global warming?

Just the huge mass of the turntable platter makes it worth that asking price of £0.75.

Oh, sorry. Was that £75?

I hope the silly sod who's asking that kind of money has to keep relisting it on eBay forever.

Had to be in Maidstone first thing today - the M20 was "interesting" - never seen a snow plough on a motorway before! Dozens of abandoned motorbikes and trucks - but not many cars - although one was a very nice Aston Martin Vantage - guess they're not too good in the snow! I bet the owner was a bit anxious leaving that by the side of the road all night!

I took my wife to work this morning at 7 she works in a local private Hospital and needs to be in to book patients in and sort out records etc, the normal 25 min round trip took over an hour even in my Discovery, people slipping and sliding all over the place and a few nutters on pushbikes :mental:

Really winds me up when people list items on ebay with the "make offer" function when they have no intention of accepting anything less than the asking price or maybe £1.99 less - complete waste of everyone's time.

Funny you mention that Julian. I have only made one cheeky offer. The item never sold and as a result the seller accepted...
