At the moment experimenting with tube regulation in my ARC ESP-6 RE pre-amp.
Instead of diode rectification is this a clear winner and will soon build it with very nice components....

This week I am comparing how chokes (Tango, Partridge and Audionote) sound in the chain...I will buy the one left..

It is still on an experimental board but next week I will start building a "proper platform" for it... next to the external first power supply.

I am inspired by Kondo as you know but also by Josh Stippich (Electroluv) I am seriously thinking of giving it a Josh look...since nearly all the choosen parts are as a coincidence Organic.

I have picked everything by ear....regardless of price...it took me quite a while. *

Parmeko Transformer
Parmeko Choke (and yes it was sounding better than Audionote and Tango in my set-up)
Allen Bradley resistors
Yamamoto Tube Socket
Anhui Tongfeng Oil Filled Capacitor
Bybees
Mullard U52 ( bloody expensive )
Wiring (will be mainly a combination of solid Silver and OFC copper)

I had Jean Hiraga over to my place from France, in order to review and listen to my set.

I am in the March Edition I will get a copy soon and will try to translate ....if you excuse my French..

I am a bit proud since he normally reserves 5. Pages for doing sets ( he travels around the world for it ) and with me it took him 6. Pages....

So far i have only the front page...and translated...the goldsmith with the golden hands...ahum..promising

I know what you mean...and believe me the winners were clear winners as well.

Maybe I need to clarify it a bit.

The so called shoot out was done over a period of nearly 3 months with 2 days a week a listening session with two other audiobuddies.
The whole show was including a so called infamous blind testing...but always relaxed because only one person knew most of the time what he changed in the other room.
We tested Audionote, Tango, Obbligato, General Electric, ASC you name it.
All the stuff stayed in for at least a good burn in period.

I have all the luck of the world to have an audiobuddy who has a high end component shop...so as long as I don not trim the leads or solder I can make use of his supply.

The outcome surprised me as well and I would usually order Tamura, Tango, ASC straight from the internet ( you have no choice and rather safe to buy the best component outthere ).
However I cannot by the sheer name and reputation if a noname component outperforms in the total set up.

No need to tell you that I respected the values so there can be no influence in the that parameter area.

I just want to honestly share ....instead of going safe.

BTW if you look at eg the Parmeko Transformer and Choke materialwise...not to bad...using very old copperwire ( we all know its value in audio) and is sealed in oil....I guess buying NOS nowadays as new would also be a hefty pricetag.

The chinese cap is filled witht castor oil and sounded quite lively and emotional a virtue I am after.
