It's only been a thing this past year or so, since retiring. Before that I had enough 'landmarks' in the week to keep me aware: Monday this job in Blackpool, Tuesday and Wed something else etc, and constantly referring to my diary. Friday was a day to look forward to, Saturday was errands day followed usually by visiting friends and Sunday was chilling.
Point is that without things that need to go in the diary it's a bit like driving down a motorway with no junctions, services or scenery - I really need the route to be populated with identifiable landmarks to know where I am.
