Anyone keen on watches?

i was totally confused which day of the week it was over Christmas and New Year, but I think I'm ok now, and back to work for the full week, unfortunately. I have been incredibly lazy at getting up for over 2 weeks - tomorrow's 07:00 getup to go into the office is going to be a shock to the system.

Yep that's a problem. When I'm not working I gradually go from 0630 start and 2230 bed to 0930 start and 0200 bed. That seems to be my natural condition.

But these days I need at least two weeks off to get to 'feral' state and I never take that much time off.

I don't understand how anyone can not know what day it is: the date perhaps, but the day no.

It's only been a thing this past year or so, since retiring. Before that I had enough 'landmarks' in the week to keep me aware: Monday this job in Blackpool, Tuesday and Wed something else etc, and constantly referring to my diary. Friday was a day to look forward to, Saturday was errands day followed usually by visiting friends and Sunday was chilling.

Point is that without things that need to go in the diary it's a bit like driving down a motorway with no junctions, services or scenery - I really need the route to be populated with identifiable landmarks to know where I am.

I've always struggled with it a bit. Before phone alarms I'd forget to switch off the alarm Friday night and be halfway out the door before realising it was Saturday.

I've also gone into work when I've had the day off, thinking it was still the day before. That got a few laughs, especially as I then had a 7 mile walk home.

I did similar once, went to work on a Bank Holiday Monday. but I've done worse, like driving to the shops, then walking back and getting home and wondering where the car has gone.

My mother-in-law apparently took my wife to the shops in her pram, got her groceries and went home then realised she had forgotten something - the baby!

I understand that. Whilst, as I have said, I always know what day of the week it is, I don't necessarily know what I have to do that day.
Apart from obvious things like shopping, I have to write down reminders like appointments, important phone calls etc. in my diary. Some things I can store on the calendar of my mobile phone, but my diary is becoming increasingly important and vital for my day to day activities.

I rely on apps to tell me when to take my meds and what I should be doing on any given day (relies on me updating the apps of course). Most important is when I’m off on my travels and my better half lets me know when to dust off the passport and pack me smalls.
