When this forum started it had freedom and flexibility (need to attract members). Now it has gone the way of other forums and developed an "in-crowd" (human nature). The difference with this forum is the in crowd is largely industry based which is dangerous. They are not here to be your friend they are here to promote their products and services.
Complete and utter nonsense Richard, there is no "crowd" here (whatever one of those is), this is a place to talk about anything hi-fi related.

Unfortunately it still needs to be moderated from time to time to stop it being dominated by the folk who turn every single conversation or thread around to their product (Ashley / JC) or to stop people getting on a rant and then banging on about it continuously. Just because this forum is moderated doesn't automatically make it inflexible and lacking in freedom.

Also as administrators / moderators we are ultimately responsible for the content, therefore if it is libelous towards companies or derogatory in any way to other forums / individuals we are bound by vBulletin's rules to remove the content forthwith.

You may feel this is unfair, but it's tough luck Richard, there's nothing you can do to change it and every forum on every subject in the world is run under the same conditions.

By the way Richard, if you are going then I'd like to wish you the best of luck but I won't as you are the only person I dislike on this forum, everyone else is friendly, charming and pleasant, has no axe to grind about anything and just likes hi-fi for all its many foibles and charms. I'm sure you're a nice person to deal with and your products do your skills justice, and I'm sure your level of experience in the industry gives you fair stead for your views, but for some reason best known to yourself you fail to be civil in almost everything you say on forums. Why? I'll never know, but I don't have the time or inclination to find out.

On that note, I'll remove the sticky so that it disappears from the top of the list and then hopefully not too many new members will associate this (rather lovely) forum with your anti-industry bile. If your response becomes at all threatening or overly negative I will lock this thread, I may even delete the whole thing.

LOL. Well, I'm not quite sure I entirely share Rob's sentiments but he's entitled to them. However I've got to say what a load of self-preening old bollocks, Richard - and a country mile away from the reality of the situation!

I could dissect your post and address the misguided observations one by one but there's no point. People can judge the situation for themselves. All you've done is chucked your toys out the pram because you weren't getting things all your own way!

Anyway, you're welcome to post here whenever you wish, providing you respect our ethos, but if you've chosen to say "Sayonara" then that's your decision. I wish you all the best and hope to see you appear again with your unique insight into the world of hi-fi sometime in the future

I have even got around to magazines and reviewers yet.
This is one rant where admin will likely be on your side so please bring it on. I remember a thread I started on the Naim forum back in 2001 on the very subject of magazine reviews that ran and ran. We ended up talking about beer but there you go!

Come on Richard, please don't take your ball home. Stay and put another record on.

My flurry here has come to an end, it is not fun any more, there are vested interest who are now hunting me in their posts, not giving information but trying to disrupt and insult, and I am not being allowed to insult back (a sign of the burgioning in crowd). I enjoy a good fight but not with my hands tied behind my back.

Perhaps the forum will change, they are a very dynamic environment but until then as in the immortal saying, so long and thanks for the fish.
    richard,
i suspect that after seeing you shoot everything you read on here down in flames lately people are reluctant to give information about anything lest they get the same treatment from you!
i for one, when i first joined this forum, after reading some of the posts found that you were actualy talking sense in a lot of ways, but you seem to have gone off the deep end of late.
what ever you decide to do, i wish you well...

    Anthony,

You're right. Whilst I found some of Richard's posts amusing, he appears to be 'damaged goods'.

Sigh. This really is all very sad imho.

OK - I readily admit that my middle name is "Naive" - and that I (too) easily see the nice side of folks.

But ..... although I like you, and your products, and your professionalism when selling your gear, I have to say that there seems more than a touch of paranoia to you, Richard.

Is it really surprising that other folks aren't willing to be ranted at and insulted?

Being impolite seems to me to be letting the other guy win. There's no profit in it.

I strongly recommend, as a friend as well as a happy and committed customer, that you take an objective view of what you have been doing here. If you do that and still can't see the other side of things, then well, I think it's very sad. Sorry.

Anyway, on the subject of magazine reviewing I've dug out this thread I started on the Naim forum nearly seven years ago:

    http://forums.naim-audio.com/eve/for...5371956252/p/1

There is a serious amount of thread drift through the five pages. Marco joins the discussion on page 4. As "Stallion."

Haha... Ah yes, the good old days. There are some familiar old names on that thread! "Stallion" - LOL! Richard Dane changed it to "Marco" in my second 'reincarnation', hence why my posts are signed "Stallion" but the member title is "Marco".

How times change, eh? Me extolling the virtues of QS Ref, getting excited about the purchase of a CDS2 and, shock horror, waxing lyrical about Focal stand-mounts!

Seven years, though? It just shows how long we've both been involved in this bollocks...

Hey, for a real laugh you should try and resurrect some of the unforgetable 'classic' threads starring moi and Jamesy boy, such as 'I've Been FRAIMed In The NAIM of Music", or when I changed from QS Ref to Mana. Now that would be a hoot of the highest order
