    I've had loads of them. They work well enough and will sound OK, but not outstanding. But for the money they are good enough though, the arm will cope with a budget MC cartridge (but not a high compliance MM) and they just go on forever 'cos they're well built. Just give them a bit of lube and a new belt every year or two. That price looks OK by current standards.
    It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

    I've also had more than my fair share of PL12Ds - every time I use one I think to myself that an old, basic, bottom-of-the-range turntable shouldn't be so enjoyable!

    Absolutely. The arm will handle a reasonable cartridge. My PL112D has a Rega Elys in it and it sounds pretty good. Silly money for the enjoyment offered.

    To be honest, I never though the PL112D was as good as the 12D...

    Have you heard these. They and the 10" DC200 are the worst Tannoys I've heard. Coloured, dull and two dimensional I'm afraid.
