My ProAcs are 127kg each, and I'd not heard of a heavier speaker, unless home-made.

Usher Be-20s. Including the bottom compartment filled with lead shot they're nearer 150kg each

Sunday night again, which is my 'From the Grave' time.

I've always thought this week's thread is the best example the The Art of Sound' has as proof of what a great place this is. It exemplifies the spirit of everything that is good about the site & it's members. It also admirably displays the power of the internet. Everyone involved should feel very, very proud of themselves. I remember it, as it was evolving, & how I just wished I could help out in some way too.

The thread itself has taken quite some finding, though! But looking for it gave me the chance to squirrel away several future subjects for 'From the Grave'.

If anyone has suggestions for suitable links, they should PM me.

Due to house moving manouvres & such, it's now over a month since I posted something 'From The Grave'.

So here's my suggestion for something that you may like to re-read or you may have missed it before, for whatever reason.

This week I'm offering a triple headliner on the subject of record cleaning
– an important subject for several reasons.

A clean disc sounds better.
Vinyl's getting pricey, so it's an investment worth protecting.
Some vinyl is irreplaceable……..so, ditto.
It will help to prolong the life of your stylus – if only because you won't need to clean it so often & the chance of a costly slip will be greatly lessened.


First on the bill is a thread started by 'shahsy' which discusses manual cleaning & then moves on to machines (& back again).
Microfibre cloths and washing up liquid are the business!

Here's a thread that I missed the first time around.
It's perhaps the most fascinating video I have ever seen.

If you're into DIY audio - the determination of this guy will inspire you.
If you're into valves - this might help you learn a little about the magic trick they perform when you power them up.
If you're even slightly interested in hi-fi you will find it spellbinding.

Cheers for that Chris - that's 17 minutes 11 seconds of my life I'll never get back...

Very interesting really, but I must admit I was a bit lost at the end with the engine thing, and what the guy was doing right at the end? Making the main tube was fascinating though - presumably hand-made tubes like these would cost a fortune...
