Actually, I started out with my first 'Hi-Fi' (when I was 14) when my cousin gave me his Garrard SP25 MkIII/Goldring G800. I didn't have an amp or speakers, but went out and bought a copy of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" (their latest release at the time) and sat there with my ear as close as possible to the stylus, listening to it over and over again. The amp and speakers followed a few months later - an Amstrad EX-220 and Solavox PR25 (actually Wharfedale Dentons re-badged as Comet's own brand).

I'm genuinely shocked to see what these sell for now, I can only guess those bidding have never listened to one !?

Maybe he's on another level to us.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

I'd forgotten Solavox. Do you remember Rank Domus speakers?

Back then Metrosound were a speaker manufacturer, before they got into electronics. Wonder what happened to them. There was Keletron too, who sold a big range of speakers. EMI were turning out decent speakers (and some crappy ones) and of course Eagle!

Time moves on, as they say!
