First Live Gig & First Record Bought

    ...this is indeed confusing.

One was a sticky about current live gigs and peoples reviews & tips thereof, the other is a wander down memory lane, which is nice but not really the same thing

My first live gig was The Prodigy at the first T In The Park. They came on at dusk to take full advantage of their lighting setup, and it was A-MAZ-ING. I kept clonking my friend's girlfriend on the head with my elbow as I jumped around to imitate Leroy and Keith (she was 5' and change, I'm 6'2). I couldn't help but keep dancing on the train home - aww, smashing...

First album was Arrested Development's debut, 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days In The Life Of... Still a great album, I think - everyone must remember the scream at the beginning of Mr. Wendall, right? Favourite line: "Space ain't Man's Final Frontier - Man's Final Frontier is the Soul..." Still think of it whenever I catch the intro to a Star Trek episode.
    Simon.

I'm pretty sure that would have been '97, I was at the first V festival that year at which they also headlined...if that was your first gig Simon I'm starting to feel very old indeed...

First live gig proberbly The Kinks Clayton Hotel, Newcastle, Staffs. early sixties before they were famous.

First record Frank Sinatra's Songs for Swinging Lovers to play on my then newly acquired Dansette. Blew all my savings on the two, thinking about it some things never change.

    Hi,

The first proper gig I went to was to see the Selector. This was at Sheffield Poly Students Union in 1980. I had won some tickets in a competition in the local paper. Very enjoyable.

The first record I bought was in 1975. It was a 7" single by Showaddywaddy called Sweet Music. I still have it.

There are only two types of music. Music I own and music I don't.

Love this thread. First Gig was Duran Duran at the Blackpool Winter Gardens. First Album was The Lexicon of Love by ABC. Cut Martin Fry's head off the front cover and got my haircut the same way. Had my first girlfriend within the week. Never had chance to thank him.... Her lips tasted like honey.
