The JRS100 was the weedy one - we sold loads of these and it was better than the increasingly grey sounding (IMO) Yamaha's and tizzy Technics equivalents..
The ones to look out for are the bigger, rarer and more powerful JRS400 and 600 models. I haven't a clue how they'd stack up today, but they were naughty looking things at the time

really pissed off, I lost a radiogram earlier that only made £25 because ebay is on a go slow with my phone so my bid got froze, I had no access to pc at work.
As an aside, has anyone bought a nice old wooden radiogram and stuck modern equipment in it? Failing that, take one of those old receivers and stick a media / server PC in it. Old and the new. This is all assuming the hardware is kaput and the shell is still nice looking.

I didn't read the listing carefully enough: the cartridge was not included. That makes about £550 for the deck alone.i was thinking about the grease bearing models
Garrard 301s are really getting expensive these days. I certainly wouldn't pay that amount.
I never could understand why the original grease bearing versions fetch so much. Garrard redisigned the bearing - replacing it with an oil lubricated one following requests from the BBC. Apparently, with the advent of stereo LPs, the grease bearing versions were found to have too much rumble!
