You are right to Martin. As a marriage is civil. Perhaps I should take more care to explain things, but it wasn't really integeral to what I was trying to say. I probably added to much of my personal life to that post anyway

Nobody yet has mentioned why the WW is being cited for libel from more than one quarter I am led to believe and as for Google's "inappropriate content" threat to withdraw, the mind boggles what that could be, given the track record of the wammers.
Indeed, Frank, and it's something I'll be tackling later in my response to Alfie.

The fact is, the 'boisterous' behaviour (let's be polite and call it that) by the 'natives' on Wigwam are obviously causing a MAJOR problem for James, both in terms of threats of litigation, and the personal stress he's been under, so quite frankly I'm appalled at the selfishness shown by some of their members, and their attitude of 'The Wam will be the Wam'.

Who exactly is paying for them to have that privilege? And I'm not talking about just in monetary terms! Well, IMO, if The Wam continues to be the Wam, sooner rather than later, there will be no Wam!! What then??

I think more consideration is needed into sympathising with why James felt so perturbed by the situation that he had to CLOSE the forum in order to escape from dealing with all the crap.

If people genuinely care about Wigwam (and James), then that situation CANNOT be allowed to happen again, and so something RADICAL must be done now to ensure that is the case.

It's a classic situation of putting your own selfish needs before the genuine best interests of the forum, and the guy who has the headaches and puts his neck on the block, to provide the community that they seemingly can't live without.

Well WW is now fully open and a new AUP will be in force shortly. In full the changes to the AUP are

There will be a new AUP in force by the end of the week.

    in short, it will say:

If you libel anyone it's on your head and you agree to indemnify the forum against any damages arising.

If you libel or slander anyone on the forums you will have your posts deleted and your posting rights removed for a period of 24hrs, if you do it twice, you will not be welcome back.

If you want access to the sweary, more WIGWAMMY old school Pub Car park and otehr soon to be hidden areas you will have to prove a few things:
    1. That you are not a whiny thin skinned litigious prick.

So no change at all really, the pack are still free to roam and kill at will. To be honest I had hoped for a bit more.

I don't usually have the opportunity or access to comment on many threads early on, but a couple of things occur to me -

Someone I know coaches a kids' football team who play in a county league every weekend. He spends ages coordinating the parents and kids, running training sessions, engaging with the league and turning up in all weathers in strange places every Sunday for the matches. In return he seems to get grief from the parents of his team over everything he does (eg decisions on selection, playing position, tactics, travel arrangements) and from the opposing team and their entourage. He does it for the love of it and it's a good thing that people like him do.

Secondly, it's only rock 'n' roll, as I think someone may once have said.

Off topic, but as I understand it, when you call someone a berk, it is actually short for some cockney rhyming slang; the full phrase being Berkshire Hunt.
