Not really relevent to the demise or otherwise of HFWW, but in answer to your question - my former wife (who was a bit of a feminist) was quite happy to use the word as a simple, albeit coarse, word for that part of her anatomy. Used strictly within that context I have no problems. It is of course the use of the word as a term of abuse that is totally unjustified. Deeply, deeply offensive when applied to women; illogical when applied to men.

So, yes I agree it has no place on an open forum, but I would like to say that I find the supposed censorship of other expletives rediculous. No amount of dyslexia or letter substitution will dilute the impact of these words. We are all adults here and know perfectly well what is being written. To those who feel they want to use these words - don't compound your sins of ignorance or insult with one of cowardice: tell it like it is, or don't say it at all!

I have to confess I have actually exposed the gentle readership of AoS to an unexpergated exposure of the word in question: when I quoted the lyrics of a certain song. I don't believe in censorship, but I don't do these things without thought. With the song in question, the use of the word was ambigious, but pertinent.

I don't expect, or indeed hope, that AoS will become flooded with obscenities or profanities. But if we have to have a "If under the age of 18, proceed no further" type rubric on the forum, then perhaps we have gone too far and have become too PC.

Indeed, Barry, and that is precisely what I was getting at.

I have no problem with its use in the context you are referring to, although the females I've known, past and present, would be more likely to refer to that part of their anatomy as simply a 'fanny', as they'd feel that 'cunt' has overtones which are demeaning and rather too offensive for use in any context.

Perhaps so, I don't know, as I wasn't party to the events you're referring to. However, despite that, Richard, you quite clearly have a grudge towards Wigwam, it's members and its management team, and that quite simply cannot be allowed to raise its head here.

I have said this many times in the past when these accusations have come up and it seems people just have agendas to ignore it, so I will repeat again. I love the idea of the Bake-Off Show, how can I not when I originally proposed it. I admire Chestergroup for taking the financial risk for two years in running it and in the end just about broke even - BUT they would not have broken with out my £500 sponsorship in the 2nd year (which deserves at least four exclamation marks)!!!! Would I seriously have done this if I didn't want the event to survive?

I admire James for agreeing to get involved when other forums, notably PFM turned their noses up to it. The first year was a rollicking success though I didn't go. 2nd year Chestergroup were umming and ahhing about it as they lost money 1st year so invited trade, I was the only one to agree and sign up to it, but Chestergroup did it anyway, but decided because the trade weren't interested that they were pulling out of the 3rd year. I seemed to know about this long before anyone at Wigwam was willing to admit to it, as I chat sometimes about the industry to Justin. So I said in my forum that Wigwam had to get their finger out and organise it themselves or it would die as Chestergroup were pulling out. I even offered to continue sponsorship if it was needed.

So this year has been a success, well brilliant I am very pleased, as the concept continues. I congratulate Wigwam and its organisers that after all the faff it was worthwhile. And I hope it continues for many years, and it should if they continue the same way.

My final point is that Scalford is not and will not be unique, they do not own the rights to user shows, nobody does. As far as I am concerned the more the merrier and the more different areas covered the better, and if anyone organising one in the future wishes me to sponsor it they only have to ask and put in a business plan and have at least one major forum behind them to support it.

That is my position now and has been since the idea first came up nearly 5 years ago.

Be careful with my Ex as I've mentioned somewhere before, on splitting up she took great pleasure in trashing my HiFi & smashing & selling the vast majority of my record collection! Oh how I wished she had just cut one arm off my suits!.. A woman scorned & all that....

Now if the members of WW want to bombard each other with fruity colourful language it doesn't bother me from now on, because I can rest in the knowledge that Marco and the mods are not going to let this forum be like that.

As for the bullying and humiliating, I can rest easy that will also be under control too on this forum, so they can do what they like on WW.

Nobody yet has mentioned why the WW is being cited for libel from more than one quarter I am led to believe and as for Google's "inappropriate content" threat to withdraw, the mind boggles what that could be, given the track record of the wammers. Maybe somebody in the industry has finally taken offence at their product being constantly unjustifiably labelled as "shit" and a dozen other less than complimentary remarks which is all too common on the forum.

I did actually (half heartedly I might add) tell James once that if certain individuals didn't desist from targeting me with their vitriol, then a summons would be in the post citing him as being responsible. It really did shake him for a moment I think, but I did send him a PM a short while later saying it was a warning bell ringing rather than hauling his arse into court. He did take the miscreants to task and it did stop, so he can do it.

Forget the language, forget the bullying, because they generally only affect private individuals, so methinks it could be an external threat in the future that WW needs to watch out for. We could of course speculate from here to eternity what that might be, but that is one scenario that cannot be ruled out either.
