Got Pacific on blu ray tonight (I've not seen it so fingers crossed)...hopefully it will purge the memory of Sweeney Todd!!!

As long as they don't break out into song as they storm the beaches of Iwojima I'll be OK

John Carpenter's - The Fog on Blu-Ray.

Great classic film, the transfer to BD is ok for an old film, bit better than the DVD version, also only cost me £6 new

Recommended if you like these sorts of movies.

I have heard that this set of BD discs has image quality to die for, is this true? also is it worth buying? i do like things like this, i suppose that helps lol.

The picture quality is very good indeed.. However the discs are all 1080i... As long as your blu ray player is good at de-interlacing then i'm sure you'll be very happy with the picture quality

In all honesty there aren't a great deal of quality documentaries out there, this is one of them, a lot of other BBC blu rays are also worth looking at. Ganges, Wild China, South Pacific (i guess my favourite BD ever

) The Story Of India, etc are all well worth a buy imo at a good price, i keep coming back to watch them...

Thoroughly agree should be compulsory for all humans...and on that subject 'The Human Planet' promises to be even better in terms of resolution, I think it's out soon in 1080p...not sure about the 24p though Mark, my player will probably think so though

Planet Earth was the first Bluray I bought - thoroughly recommended - I often just put it on in the background with no sound when listening to my hifi. (Still haven't watched Bakara yet, or 2001, both inspired by this thread - my New Year's resolution only applies to CDs by the way!
