I saw them in around 2001, and they played the first 2 albums in their entirety, and most of the third. Tonight however, they focussed on their (in my opinion) mediocre 80s output, barely playing any of their 70s classics.... No Ladytron, no In My Dreamhome A Heartache, no Bogus Man... And they were a bit too slick for my liking, a bit like we were watching a Jools Holland show if you see what I mean, for most of the show there were 12 people on stage, when there needed to be maximum 5 or 6, there was the obligatory group of female backup singers that had lengthy great gig in the sky type sing offs (but crap) And there was a massive screen so bright that it made the performers basically silhouettes. Which would have been fine if the screen was showing close ups of them, which it was, but they were overlaid with artsy psychadelic images and graphics so you could barely make it out. But it wasn't all bad, the highlights for me were 'If There Is Something' 'Pyjamarama' and 'For Your Pleasure'.
Dan my mate went to the same gig and walked out after an hour, obviously similarly unimpressed, he should have waited for the better stuff, I must admit I gave up on them after Eno left

Nice concert shot, Adam. We should probably do more of that as concert security has pretty much given up with searching for cameras seeing as every single mobile phone has one.

Thanks Martin, yes these days i don't think it matters about cameras as long as we don't walk in with a £5000 SLR, i used my mobile phone (Nokia N8) to take the photos/vids as didn't want to take my camera just incase, but as you said security didn't seem to care as there was lots of people with digi cams etc.

For those interested you can view all my Goo Goo Dolls concert images HERE (also added this link to my post above).

    Regards,
    Adam.

    How do Adam,

Did you blag your way onto the balcony, or was it open to the public, on the last couple of gigs I've been to at the new academy the balcony's been for 'friends' of the band only...I still miss the old hummingbird/dale end (showing my age now) but the new one could be a lot worse, it's certainly better than when it was the old 'dome' night club...
    Cheers, Will

Hi WAD62, as my partner is disabled we got to sit on the balcony and above all we paid for her ticket, that was £28 and as im her carer i got in for free, we even had our drinks bought up to us by a staff member, was a great evening out (we don't go out very often) and can't wait to see them again.

    Regards,
    Adam.

Excellent, top marks to the venue...I must admit to having some trepidation when it was moved from Dale End, but it seems to be well run, and the sound quality is pretty good too, if you can get out from under the balcony.

They even let us dirty old smokers back in after a tab, at the last spot one had to buy another ticket to get back in!!!!
    Cheers, Will

The last gig I went to was Micah p. Hinson at the southbank centre a few months ago. He's an amercan folky type and he played a set mostly just guitar based but also with a small 4 piece mini orchestra. Overal he was very good, and I'd recommend hi
A lot if you fancy some Americana.

I'd love to see Micah P Hinson - didn't even realise he was over here touring... You'd never believe the guy is only 30 listening to his voice - mind, I guess that what being a junky, a jailbird and a hobo will do for you! Check him out on Spotify if you're even remotely interested in Americana.
